She'll do just fine, and this article is obviously meant as a slap against her...which I expected

Palin has accomplished more than Obama has. Funny how the media avoids that comparison.

"Palin has accomplished more than Obama" ?? Really? Wow, that IS news. I'm sure the media will report on that right after they learn what she has accomplished other than serving as a mayor of a tiny town, and a short run as governor over a largely socialist state.

      • Posted By: Friendly Fired @ 09/03/2008 4:05:01 PM

Well that should make you very happy -- a socialist state is what you and Osama are after, no?

A politician who can run a small town and get re-elected in a huge landslide is amazing. Everyone knows everything in a small town. To garner that kind of approval from a small town electorate is astounding. Don't mis-underestimate the lady.

They haven't had that much time to avoid anything.

Palin has accomplished more than Obama has. Funny how the media doesn't care to address that comparison.

You are right. In two years, Sarah Palin has made a natural gas pipeline happen that was stalled for over 30 years. More jobs for Alaskans and lower heating bills for gas consumers. Barack Obama can't begin to claim that type of impact from anything he has done.

  • Posted By: LPayton @ 09/03/2008 3:01:40 PM

She might bring down the (Republican) house tonight, but on her current trajectory, she'll be bringing down the country (to its knees) by next week! This woman has ZERO qualification to run our country and has clearly NOT been thoroughly vetted by McCain's camp. McCain cancelled an appearance on Larry King last night and Palin has cancelled every single interview (except FOX news) out of fear of being asked to name one single foreign policy decision she has made. This is going to get ugly!

    • Posted By: thomas90 @ 09/03/2008 3:52:41 PM

LPayton... When you say zero, you forgot that she has 50% more experience than Obama. He is running negative numbers by your scale.

Fred Thompson may have failed to take into account Teddy Roosevelt. There was a man who knew how to shoot, skin and eat most animals - including his political opponents! And he was clearly a member of the political blue-bloods of America. Mr. Thompson can be excused for the oversight since today's politicians are so far removed from Teddy Roosevelt - in so many ways. Yet, one can imagine that John McCain aspires . . . well, not really!

  • Posted By: billkennedy @ 09/03/2008 3:50:33 PM

Seriously? Untested? Thin traditional resumé? Are you talking about Palin or Obama? And the sexism, oh the sexism, of asking whether a mother can also be a vice-president! Did anyone ask Kennedy about having small children in the White House? No? What's that you say? He was a man? Oh, now I get it.

I'm no McCain apologist. In fact I can barely stand the man but come on, let's ditch the double standard Mr. Fineman. Your bias is showing and it's ugly.

The personal Palin story is overshadowing a much more significant piece of news:
"We learned last week that John McCain really wanted to choose his very good friend, Joe Lieberman, for VP but caved into pressure from the religious right. McCain will save his Lieberman pick for the Supreme Court ??? sorry evangelicals but you???ll have no leverage on Maverick McCain by then. Your Vice President will have no power in the process and a Democratic majority will happily confirm pro-choice Lieberman to the Supreme Court!???
Please understand the debate about abortion is essentially over. It may have become clearer to some during Lieberman's address to the convention last night. It takes some time for this profound reality to sink in.

    • Posted By: cobalt6 @ 09/03/2008 3:49:59 PM

There has been no mention at all about his Supreme court choice! So why even bring this up! Lieberman came out in support of his long time friend, I give him credit for that! Stop trying to make something out of it!

Field dressing a moose is not all that easy. However the remarks we aimed at Washington D.C.

  • Posted By: independent4life @ 09/03/2008 3:49:00 PM

It is amazing how much attention the liberal media is putting on Palin. I guess that'stheir way of shifting the country's focus on Obama's lack of experience. Let's not forget that he "Obama" is the one running for President with only 1.5 years in Washington. It is ridiculous to be going after palin's daughter, her daughter's boy friend, or her freaking dog. CNN, MSNBC and Newsweek, you guys make me sick. You are doing it again, as you did onto Hillary.....

Field dressing a moose is not as easy as you may think. His words for the moose also meant Washington, D.C.

"No one in recent memory has been nominated for vice president with such a thin traditional resume." Wrong, I can think of one thinner. His name is Obama. 145 days in the senate before he announced his candidacy. Zero qualifications as an executive. You think Bush bumbles around a speech, take Obama's teleprompter away and you will see a real bumbler.

Howard - I have been watching the RNC CONVENTION. I noticed that the cameras panning the crowd on FOX, MSNBC AND CNN, there was not one person of color whether black, hispanic or asian. Am, I just imagining this or does the THE GOP stand for GOOD OL (WHITE) PEOPLE. We are all talking about it today around the water cooler....Lots of us. Do you think that the Republican Party still is in touch with all of us mixed Americans and minorities themselves?

I just love it when sexism is so easy to spot. Every piece written by a sexist decries her inability to lead because she has 5 children, one of which is a baby with Down's syndrome. I guess her husband can't possibly take care of the baby, since he's just a man, and she's the only one qualified since she has breasts. McCain has a teenage daughter, and Obama has school-aged kids as well. I guess their wives are going to sit around with aprons on all day and take care of the babies, eh?

What really worries me about Palin is her environmental policies (especially in regards to drilling in the ANWR). Given the state of our environment these days I think it is evermore important for us, as consumers to support 'green businesses' that benefit the environment. For example, http://www.simplestop.net stops your postal junk mail and benefits the environment.

Harriet Maiers, move over. It seems as if the republicans will do anything, including giving us an unqualified leader, in order to keep control of the country. The callous ploy by McCain, Rove and his disciples will not only ruin our country if successful, but will also ruin an otherwise gallant and honorable person such as Ms. Palin seems to be trying to be. I wish her luck, but am squinting through my fingers to see the upcoming car wreck.

    Mr. Fineman!
It's not about trusting Mccain! There's a certainty this VP pick is solidly Conservative as that is what McCain needs!
There's a certainty Governor Palin will not insult fire arms owners, nor Christians. She won't insult achievers and suggest they rip americans off.Palin will not insult our military or police.
She is a conservative! And so a certainty ,Mr. Fineman, there is not one molecule of the Liberals' Americans Suck First campaign she will include in her speech!
No discrimination campaign against the Americans who make this country work!
We don't have to trust McCain for this!
It seems, Mr. Fineman , you needed to trust Obama to pick a VP committed to the discrimination campaign against the people who make this country work!
    You weren't disappointed, were you?

Oh how sweet, Grandpa John is doleing out hugs and kisses to the Palin children. Look, and he even brought birthday cards.... oh wait, those are the "excutive experience" and "gender" cards.
How about we actually hear from the campaign about something other than Jesus, guns, gays, babies, and "stop picking on our girl!!" sexism claims. Last I checked, there are half a dozen issues that rated as more important to the nation in this election. I dont care that shes woman, or that her daughter is pregnant, or that she has an infant with special needs of her own; i care about her complete lack of any stated policy opinions on anything but conservative wedge issues. Give me something other than hurried up talking points, and human intrest stories for christs sake. Thats the problem, not even the Republican pundits can give exact accomplishments or qualifications, only vauge generalities.

Interesting how the McCain campaign is deflecting any questions on her LEGISLATIVE background by playing the family/pregnancy/sexism cards. The media wants to know about her professionally, but there's old McCain, meeting on the tarmack with the teenage boyfriend - who dreamed that story line up and made sure there were cameras - couldn't be the campaign, could it?

Schmidt meets with reporters and claims "the media" has been asking for DNA testing on Trig - whaat? I read a lot - haven't heard a single credible outlet asking any such thing, but the old Schmidster just happened to let that "leak" - after a supposed off-the-record meeting.

Media - you are being played - the McCain campaign themselves is creating the drama around this family to keep you off the trail of her impossibly flimsy experience.
