Comment: Palin is a quick study and will learn whatever she needs to know to be Vice President OR President.

I trust her judgement and her track record. She gets my vote. She is Reagan in a skirt. She speaks directly to the people and I for one, trust her.

Comment: Id rather have an unprepared VP than an unprepared President. From the CSPAN Alaska Gov debate, I have less of a worry that she is extreemly intellegent, superbly articulate and more than abundantly able to think on her feet. Osama Obama cant talk without a teleprompter. Its not rocket science, you just have to filter out the BS in articles like this that muddy the water.

Comment: John McCain can trot out his dotty 96-year-old mother as often as he likes. It doesn't change the fact that his father dropped dead at 70 and his grandfather died at 63 -- both from sudden heart attacks. McCain is 72. Maybe he's got the dotty mother genes -- but what if he's his father's son? Does ANYONE really think Sarah Palin is fit to be the President of the United States.

Comment: I just watched the repig party invoke the image of 9/11 yet AGAIN in an election cycle. Showing images of the towers, the flames, the flowers people left on the ground, the fire fighters and police (who were killed because of Giuliani's fatal mistakes). They speak of the heroes and of the TERROR and FEAR we should NEVER FORGET, even though they forgot only months after it happened when they left Afghanistan and Bin Laden, and went to Iraq...McCain being one of the first to call for it, what judgment.

There were 2740 Americans killed on Sept 11th 2001, it was a day I will never forget, none of us will. My heart was broken in a deeper way than I have ever known and for the first time since I lost my parents, I was glad they were not here to see this, or what has happened to this country since. My father was a WWII vet, 2 Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars, and 1 Silver Star, not to mention a wealth of other medals, he was TRULY an American hero. He did not seek office, he did not ask for adoration, he came home (after being shot by a sniper just six months before the end of the war) and raised his children as did many other Americans who fought in that war. I am glad that he is not here to see what has become of our country, the country he took a bullet for, his friends died for, in a war NOT fought for OIL, but for the lives of millions of others...and oh yeah he won his war.

My question is if you are going to speak of heroes and who have died for their country, why the BAN from the White House on showing the coffins of fallen American children who have given their lives for the OIL and EGO(s) of Bush and McCain? They have both tried to use this war to further themselves, just a second ago Senator Lindsay Gramm declared "VICTORY" in Iraq,...great so all of our kids should be home in no more than a few months, right?
Why use the image of 9/11, an image they repigs forgot only weeks after it happened (unless there was an election), and use it any time they feel they NEED it to invoke fear, heart ache, or remind us of TERROR, as if we had forgotten, why use that image and BAN the other image, the image of 5180 Americans who have died following the orders of BUSH and the dreams of MCCAIN, for OIL and EGO. Why not show the flags draped over the boxes their shipped in, show the funerals and the flags being handed to the heart broken families, families who ask "why?" and have NEVER gotten a straight answer.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see the bodies either, but don't politicize one (9/11) and try to hide the other (5180 of our sons and daughters coming home in flag draped boxes).

Comment: Sarah Palin - Summary of Reasons Why Democrats Are Cowering

Sarah Palin appears to have diligently studied and worked to graduate from university, whereas Obama prompts one to wonder whether affirmative action was the major factor that enabled him to receive a degree.

Sarah Palin???s popularity and support is based on her ability and accomplishments, whereas Obama???s is based primarily on the fact that he is partially black.

Sarah Palin demonstrates that she is one of the people, whereas Obama portrays himself as an elitist.

Sarah Palin can deliver a specific, focused, energetic, and rousing speech without the aid of a teleprompter, unlike Obama who incompetently relies on speaking the pathetic foreign language of ???uhs and ahs???.

And John McCain, the elderly Senator who is often denigrated by democrats due to his age, has demonstrated that his mind is still keen enough to outfox his opposition by the excellent selection of Sarah Palin to be his VP candidate!

Comment: It's a SIMPLE decision this November!

If you want TAXES low, SMALL Government, STRONG stock market and economy and the GROWTH of jobs you vote Mc Cain.

If you are a high school dropout, smoked pot and are a bit lazy, you don't like YOUR life and you blame Bush vs taking personal responsibility. If you feel its ok to steal from hard working ultra successful people to give YOURSELVES free welfare (health insurance). If you feel EMBARRASSED about America like Obama does, then Obama is your man!

It's capitalism vs socialism this year. America vs Europe. Are YOU an American? If you like Europe so much MOVE there!

Comment: of the last 5 Republican presidents which one(s) had budget deficits throughout their terms? (Even when Republicans held congress as well...
And for the bonus round, which one(s) actually left the federal government larger than he found it?

      Jeopordy theme music......

Actually the answer to both questions is all of them. So much for small government and fiscal responsibility. Instead of tax and spend we got borrow and spend. Expect more of the same with McCain.
And so,how did we get the money to cover the deficits and increased spending for the ever-larger government? Did we increase revenues and responsibly pay our way? No, we did not. We put it all on the old VISA card. Yep we borrowed a ton of money from our bestest buddies ??? China and Saudi Arabia, etc. and plan to leave these tab to our kids. And now we get to divert hundreds of billions of dollars a year to our bestest buddies to service the debt.
If you are an american you will say no the same-o same-o.

Comment: What struck me about McCain's speech was that he railed against a "do-nothing, me-first" climate in Washington. Who was he talking about? The GOP has controlled Washington for the past 8 years. Even with a Democratic Congress for the past 20 months, the narrowness of the majority made any activity not sanctioned by the White House impossible. Is McCain running against his own party? It's a smart move if hr can pull it off -- but are the majority of Americans really that clueless?

Comment: Part 1 Who got Obama started in his political career? William Ayers, of course, is the Weather Underground bomber. And Obama began his career, his coming out party in 1995, and Ayers and Bernadine Dorns home.
And then for, you know, some 20 years, Obama has been working with Ayers, certainly since 1995, on a series of foundations: the Annenberg Foundation and the Woods Foundation. The boards of directors together, or in the Annenberg Foundation, Ayers created it, and Obama was on it. And together they spent the money of these foundations to implement their radical socialist agenda.
A lot of people say, no, they just know each other. They???re not friends. Just because -- you know, just because they worked on boards together.
Obama was in 1995 going to take the seat of Alice Palmer, who is also an extreme socialist. She???s an African-American who had actually gone to Russia and had attended communist party meetings and reported on them. And it was all very much of a leftist gathering.
Ayers and Dorns were like the stamp of approval on Obama, introducing them to their click of leftist friends for funding and for advancing his candidacy. So that very beginning was a chosen intentionally association with Ayers and Dorns to launch Obama`s career, and Obama knew exactly what he was doing picking him.
Senator Obama is the one who???s saying, "This is just another guy in my neighborhood," but in fact, that???s not true at all. It may turn out to be that they had a much closer relationship through their work together on the Annenberg Challenge to create their ideas to control the government and its people that???s the challenge!
His agenda -- I believe, in 2001, in which Ayers was unrepentant, saying that he wished he bombed more. And obama???s greatest influence is
Saul Alinsky he was a radical socialist organizer. His main book was "Rules for Radicals." His methodology was you go in as a community organizer. That means, really, a rabble-rouser.
You rub raw the discontent of the community, almost in a communist sense. You find class antagonisms. You learn to speak the grievances in the people???s own logic and language, and then you go for radical redistribution of income and wealth through gaming power and mobilizing the community. Making them think that your working for them by doing small stuff that seems to help but ultimately you gain far more than the people you help it???s a trick to get them on your side because it seems you care about them and in turn they move you to the top of the political ladder!

    • Posted By: willnotvoteobama @ 09/05/2008 9:31:25 AM

      Comment: Part 2???
The -- the connection to Saul Alinsky. In
Fact, Alinsky had change as his mantra. And by it, he meant radical socialist redistribution of income from the haves to the have-nots. That was the primary purpose.
Alinsky dedicated "Rules to Radicals" to Lucifer, whom he called the first radical. And he said it was a Machiavellian approach, which means you???ll lie, do whatever you need to do to get power, because the haves were going to lose to the have-nots, who were being championed by this community organizer. (Obama)
The theme is common that Senator Obama made in San Francisco about people are bitter, clinging to God and to guns. That is actually a paraphrase of something Saul Alinsky wrote in that same book, in "Rules for Radicals."
A very condescending view that he has of the middle class as people who are lost, who -- he says that they turn bitter, because they cling to certain fixed points that are elusory, but very real to them. They ask questions that Alinsky considers meaningless, like what does our flag mean to you? Interestingly, something that was just said at the Republican convention. That???s Alinsky. You know, obama???s his influence coming through.
Just take a look at his taxation policies. He wants to increase capital gains, because he says they???re unfair.
The point is that he clings to this relationship. And he???s even defending Ayers now. His campaign is defending Ayers, despite the fact that he???s an unrepentant terrorist who set bombs and may, according to congressional testimony, may have even been involved or had knowledge of a bombing that killed somebody. That???s the important thing.
Alinsky taught to say whatever is necessary to get power. That???s the Machiavellian approach. When Obama articulates policy positions, especially moving to the center, it may be completely calculated. We will not see the real Obama until its too late then we are going to be stuck in a radical system that will take a civil war to get out of !

    BIngo!!!

Biden is a member of the Delaware Army National Guard, and serves as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General's office. In August 2007, he received notice that his unit would be deployed to Iraq some time in 2008. He is officially scheduled to deploy on October 3, 2008, the day after his father participates in the campaign's only vice presidential debate. Just so Davole knows the exact facts.

So, it looks as though Biden's son, as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General's office, won't have to serve "in harm's way" on his tour in Iraq.

Has Biden bothered to publicly thank John McCain for his support of the surge that has greatly lessened security concerns for American and Iraqi troops serving in that country?

    Posted By: Davole @ 09/04/2008 8:47:55 PM

Sarah Palin has a son who is in the US military and will soon serve in Iraq, whereas Obama and Biden do not have any family member willing to risk his or her life to serve their country. Perhaps you should take time to check facts before you speak. But then again, this is just the usual kind of garbage people such as yourself like to spew. So here is a little fact that you choose to simply ignore. Beau Biden is a member of the Delaware Army National Guard, and serves as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General's office. In August 2007, he received notice that his unit would be deployed to Iraq some time in 2008. He is officially scheduled to deploy on October 3, 2008, the day after his father participates in the campaign's only vice presidential debate. Just so you understand, THIS IS JOE BIDEN'S OLDEST SON!

Perhaps you would do yourself and everyone else a favor by fact checking before typing. You might want to do some fact checking on many of your other points too.

    • Posted By: HarleyisHere @ 09/05/2008 12:34:30 AM

Comment: WOW! you got told...lol You should really stick to copy/paste thingy you always do, when you speak you just make yourself look dumb.

Now as to your question about Obama's family members, NO he does not have any family members who served to "the degree" the mccain did. His MARINE grandfather actually made it past the 20hrs of combat mark and in WWII and was decorated for his service, you see hewas an actual soldier, not just a kid burning ants with a magnifying glass. Obama's uncle help to liberate a NAZI concertration camp also, doing far more than 20hrs of combat, 32 propaganda films, and vacationing with the kEATINGS.

Hope that answered your question, oh btw, that was the same decorated Marine that helped to raise Obama.

Thanks for responding to my post with additional possible refuting contention.

Although I have not attempted to verify your assertion, I do admit that it may be factual, and if it is, I do apologize. I am not familiar with the duties and responsibilities of a Captain in the Judge Advocate General's Office - would his life actually be placed in danger in the course of his mission - would he be a potentially fighting soldier, or would he be in effect a removed from the scenes military lawyer?

Now, does Barack Obama, as the democrat candidate for the office of the Presidency, have any family member who is providing combative military service, to the degree that John McCain himself has done or Sarah Palin's son will soon be doing?

And, since you have apparently justifiably corrected me, is there any valid reason for your added comment - "this is just the usual kind of garbage people such as yourself like to spew." I truly doubt that you know me, and therefore your accusation may lack validity! Think about it!

Although I have admitted that I might have been wrong in my assertion, did it really merit your obviously biased and possibly wrongly opinionated diatribe?

I'll leave that up for you to decide,

Also, is there any other statement which I have made with which you do not factually agree? You seem to insinuate that there is or are some other(s)?

      Looking forward to your response!

Comment: Sarah Palin - More Reasons Why Democrats Are Cowering

Sarah Palin ardently supports an all-inclusive energy plan, whereas Obama and Biden refuse to support any inclusion of fossil fuels and nuclear technology.

Sarah Palin has more foreign trade experience than both Obama and Biden. since she has protected the US fishery and oil industries from Canadian and Russian competition.

Sarah Palin has actually opposed Big Oil companies, and returned excess windfall profits to the Alaskan taxpayers, whereas Obama and Biden merely propose that they will do likewise.

Sarah Palin has more direct experience with the US Navy and Coast Guard than Obama and Biden.

Sarah Palin has a son who is in the US military and will soon serve in Iraq, whereas Obama and Biden do not have any family member willing to risk his or her life to serve their country.

Sarah Palin has actually demonstrated her ability to effect meaningful political change, whereas Obama and Biden have merely promised to do so in a non-specific manner.

Sarah Palin demonstrates a determination and ability to reform the way politics is conducted in Washington, whereas Obama and Biden merely suggest that they will bring about some vague undefined form of change.

Sarah Palin believes and has demonstrated that a woman can earn what she is worth, whereas Obama and Biden subscribe to the equal pay and affirmative action legislative approach to salary determination for women.

Sarah Palin supports a moral stand which respects the dignity of all human life, even its most vulnerable, whereas Obama stance on abortion is one of shallow political opportunism.

Can't pull the trick too often w/o getting caught, but being as it's political suicide for them to sanction US strikes in their country, but they also want to put down the Taliban uprising, if the target list presented them was big enough and important enough they'd probably ignore one cross-border raid, maybe two, and make a pro-forma complaint.

As for Sarah Palin, assuming some deranged KOS poster shoots President McCain, she steps into the job with a full Cabinet, a Joint Chiefs of Staff, and about 2 Million federal bureacrats to assist and bring her up to speed. After the speech last night it's beyond insulting to snifft that this "breeder" isn't smart enough/good enough to handle the job.

Comment: Whoever comes to power - McCain or Obama - better understand the REAL issue is the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan. All other issues - be it Russia, Israel, Iran etc - at least has someone in power to talk to. But the cancer of terrorism is growing out of control in the Afghan/Pak region and is already consuming those societies. If this cancer reaches other shores (like India, Israel, China and indeed US), it can explode into anarchy for the next US President. Who is the president going to talk to then? They wont even know whom/where to bomb? The US - as powerful as she is - will be bled to death with 1000 cuts.

My son is in Iraq you F@#KING MORON, repigs lead by FEAR and SHEEP GET SCARED. SHE LIED SO MUCH that I could not keep up to wt=rite allof them down. EVERYTHING she said about Obama's tax plan, service, goals, patriotism...ALL LIES, she is a C#NT and a parrot at that. She can't even govern her own house, her own family does NOT share her "VALUES", why should anybody else...

Now as for the "surge" and mcpropagandafilms "judgment":

The problem for McCain is his "Judgment", if he really had superior military insight, he would have never agreed to go to Iraq until Afghanistan was "mission accomplished". If mccain would have wanted to defeat Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, where they make base and train, if he would have wanted to actually bring BIN LADEN to justice, if MCCAIN has TRUE judgment, he would have stood on the floor of the Senate and said "WRONG WAR< WRONG TIME!" We would have "WON" in Afghanistan, instead of "cutting" our ability to supply more troops and "running" to Iraq, for a "WAR FOR OIL" and for the bush ego.

If McCain had done that, there would not have been a "SURGE" required, AT ALL. thousands of Iraqis and hundreds od Americans would have been saved...but NOPE! McCain and BUSH wanted to go to a country that NEVER ATTACKED THE US, and star another war, and now MCCAIN AND BUSH want to go "bomb Iran, bomb bomb Iran". before AFGANISTAN or Iraq are clear...and you call that a "military mentality", you call that "Judgment"?

Obama goes for Sam Power, before we find out that she is a PLO shill and refers to Hillary as a ''monster''. He then reaches for Tony Lake and Susan Rice. The very architects of Africas many strongman coup disasters of the 1990s that culminated in the Rwandan genocide debacle.Their power-sharing advice to President Clinton in Sierra Leone only got more people killed . Jimmy Johnson was chosen to vet veep picks, and was thus expected to find a slot in a WH advisory role, until we found out that he copped sweetheart mortgage deals from lobbyist loan company COUNTRYWIDE at the height of the sub-prime mess. Eric Holder is on board for an Obama AG slot, but his reputation was sullied by the Marc Rich pardon. Allison Davis is on board to take HUD,but he is an associate of Tony Rezko partnering with him and Obama during the REZMAR slumlord period in late 1990s Chicago.[ we should recall that HUD stands for ''Housing and Urban Development'']. On the heels of this,Obama has stated that he will establish a ''Office of Urban Policy''inside of the White House with only one name thus far being floated.. Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, who joined a pack of mob stooges at a big soiree inside of the Chicago Como Inn,where the stooges emerged with a 100 million dollar affirmative action construction contract that was poured into their pockets, while the slums got slummier, and Daley goes before Chicago Tribune reporters with an ''I don't know how that happened''spiel, when forced to explain himself. Even veteran Chicago reporters of the old Mike Royko strain are horrified,as they see a transfer of Chicago mob politics into the White House which will create scandals that will make Bush look like a saint by comparison. The fact remains that the ''vig''will have to be paid. And we will continue to suffer for it,under the groaning mantle of ''change''.

We can truly see who Palin inspires, what a disgrace to our great country, just as Bush is a disgrace to the presidency. At the Dem convention, you heard about actual plans for the future of our country delivered in a postivie message. Anything they said about McCain/Bush voting records, and their plans for the country was the TRUTH and can be fact checked. Last night, you heard more and more OUTRIGHT lies by Palin and the others, trying to scare all you feeble minded greedy people into voting for them again. It disturbs me to the core that you all think you love your country more. I call bullshit. If you did, you couldn't possibly support their failed policies again and again and again. You would have questioned your plain dumb president Bush and you would have questioned your government, the act of a true patriot. You would seek a change from the last 8 years of failure and that is NOT what McCain/Palin represent. You all have selective memory and create your own reality. Must make life nice and simple. Talk about weak. How much foreign affairs experienced did GW have? And as for McSame, being a POW doesn't make you a army man or a military man. It makes you shot down and captured. He is an expert on prison camps, so maybe he can clear up the Gitmo mess. Also,Obama is not running against Palin last time I checked. He is running against Sen McCain. Let's compare apples to apples. Palin is not the one who is going to set foreign policy or economic policy. The President will. She's just along for the ride.
Also, if you say she's qualified enough, then stop talking about qualifications period and talk some real issues. Left wingers have controlled congress for more than eight years. from 1998 until 2006. And Oh, BTW, the Democrats don't really have a majority that they can really do anything with. The left wingers have enough votes to block and lot of things. Again, the left is full of deceitful people who would have you believe that McCain will change Washington back to the Left. Heck, the Left has never gone away. But us Right Wingers are trying. You've had the last eight years, and look at the state of the country. Eight more...I don't think so.

  • Posted By: bluebloodedLV @ 09/04/2008 12:23:21 PM

Comment: I think we all need to sit back and DEFINE experience. No governer has foreign policy experience. No senator has executive experience. The Obama-Biden ticket provides stockpiles of foreign policy experience and knowledge combined with leadership and true hope for a better America. I don't want to hear any nonsense about how Obama hates America and wants us all to go down. He and Biden are much more in touch with the American people than the elite McCain and isolated Palin. The McCain-Palin ticket combines narrow minded, divisive attack politics with foriegn policy experience and a teeny bit of executive experience. You could compare Obamas community organizing past with Palins PTA and Hockey mother of 5 organizing past. They are both valid character builders. But, what really matters is the top of the ticket. Obama has made better decisions than McCain. McCain has voted against raising the minimum wage 19 times. He is against the GI bill. He wont speak out against torture even though he himself endured torture as a POW. They want to privatize health care and education, so only the rich can afford them. His voting record displays a lack of character, integrity and complete alignment with the right wing agenda to control womens uteruses and pandering to the religious right. The really scary part is that McCain is a 72 year old 2 time cancer survivor and Palin is CRAMMING on foreign policy right now. Talk about a leap of faith to vote for that ticket. At least you know if some idiot attacks Obama, Biden can more than fit the bill for POTUS. You cannot touch his record. One last point, the McCain camp forgets that if by some chance he gets elected, he will be EVERYONE's president and therefore has to answer to the Dems concerns as well. He has done nothing to inspire unity, only more hatred.

He is a scary candidate as far as I can see and I will vote for someone who is definately set on the American People not their own career growth! This is what I see here!

Comment: Another Land? Is Hawaii another Land. What land do you come from that your mind has been warped into thinking Obama and his wife hate America? All they have ever done is serve our communities and our country. They both could be raking in millions with their ivy league educations. Your comments are preposterous.

Comment: And How much experience does Obama have other then he grew up in another land. Does that qualify him for all the above. I think not he lacks the experience of the United States government. I have to wonder how a man from another land and his wife hate the United States so much then want to run it. The question I have is where they want to run it to? Straight to communism or simply have their own play ground to invite foreign playmates to help take over. He is a scary candidate as far as I can see and I will vote for someone who is definately set on the American People not their own career growth! This is what I see here!

Comment: Obama taught Constitutional history. He has been an American all his life. He is bright, articulate, and a quick learner. His choice of a VP shows he has executive skills beyond McCain.

Comment: Obama was a community organizer with no executive experience. His VP has been a senator for 36 years with no executive experience. joe Baden only experience is listening to committee report. We small business owners all across the US have way more executive experience than these two people. So enough with Sarah Palin. She is great. She actually has done some positive and bold things as a real CEO.. No more empty talks! NOBAMA!!!!

Comment: Obama taught constitutional law. His dedication is to the average American people, not to the corporations that keep sending our jobs overseas. Thats the question people need to ask themselves, do you support the people or the corporations? But, telling a neocon about Obama's vast constitional knowledge means nothing, because they really don't respect the constituion. The Bush administration has been shitting on the constituion since 2001. McCain-Palin want to amend the constitution by writing discrimination into it (the opposite of what America is about) trying to legislate morality by controlling womens uteruses and legislating who you can marry as defined by their own views. Again, not what America stands for. Our reputation around the world is at steak. You neocons will say "who cares what the rest of the world thinks, it doesn't matter." Well it does matter if you want the rest of the world to buy our products! It's the economy stupid. It's global and we need to be able to count on the demand of foreign countries, especially if we want to dig ourselves out of the unprecedented debt the Bush administration has created.

Comment: Palin and Guiliani were the stars of last night's hate-fest. Has anyone else noticed the sharp contrast between the issues-oriented positive Democratic convention and the personality-oriented negative Republican convention? The Repubs simply can not run on the issues, so it's back to the old Karl Rove playbook of character assassination. Let's all band together as Americans first and say, 'Not this time!'

Comment: hope and change are the only "issues" i hear dems talking about. oh, don't forget "unity"
unity is code for: we play dirty and filibuster like crazy untill we get our guy in office...then we whine and complain about partisanship. we certainly didn't like the idea of unity under bush...but we'll expect you to like it under our wacked out leftist vision.

anyway, i heard a CLEAR vision on energy last night...not the nuanced, double tongued puff piece i heard from denver
