Louisiana Mops Up

There is SUCH a HUGE difference in the way that Louisiana deals with a hurricane VS Florida, Texas and the Carolinas. I realize that Louisiana is a poorer state, but there is SUCH a dynamic difference between those states in how they react and deal with hurricanes! Florida people are SO prepared both in what they keep on hand, how they evacuate, and how they prepare their property. Florida has a large population of senior citizens, but somehow their evacuations seem so much more organized. I am in Texas and some of the Louisiana evacuees are now needing assistance to pay for their hotels and gas money home after the evacuation for GUSTAV!

Are we going to have to pay for this too?

The only way to fully restore a sense of normal life in New Orleans and the surrounding cities is to do a massive upgrade of the levees, otherwise, the residents will forever be paranoid every time a hurricane is spotted in the Caribbean.
