Raul C; You sound like the elitist that the Obama camp represent.... "Editor of the Harvard Law Review versus Beauty Queen"? Sure, dismiss every thing Gov. Palin have ever accomplished and subjectify her just as a beauty queen. I guess you are worried; so worry she has more spunck in her little town governor being than your editor of the harvard law review has and, no wonder --- to quote/use your own words "People are seriously considering that comparison between Palin and Obama as realistic and worthwhile discussion" as to people comparing Omaba to McCain -- apparently, Obama is not in the same league as McCain.

Alter is a liberal soros-funded hack.

  • Posted By: Tamara0823 @ 09/04/2008 11:18:35 AM

Her nomination is a joke and an insult to women. McCain thinks he can pull any woman out of obsurity and get women to vote for her?

  • Posted By: Treehugger2008 @ 09/04/2008 11:16:11 AM

Alter - you couldn't be more wrong. What ever happened to reporters who write about facts and leave their opinions to themselves? When people question Obama's lack of experience you defend it now you try to eviserate Palin for same. Being a 20-month Governor is better experience than being a community rabble-rouser and 18-month Senator. What you know about McCain's military background but failed to mention because it would fly in the face of your liberal screed is that he CHOSE not to be promoted to a "flag-level" officer when he retired from the Navy because he did not need the financial retirement trappings that come with that rank, NOT because he couldn't get promoted. And as far as puff-ball interviews - how can you even go there?!!? That's all Obama has had in the last year and a half that is when he and his handlers even allow an unscripted interview - which is to say twice! You're a clown.

What kind of journalism is this? Stating the Obama got 18 million votes in a democratic primary (simply a race for a spot on the dem ticket). And Palin only got a few votes to get her into the mayor's office (a real, elected position of responsbility). Then, conveniently forget to mention that she was elected (over a previously sitting democrat) to the governorship. How many votes did she get in that race? A couple dozen? And Obama got into the Illionois office by booting his opponent off the ballot through a technicality. Was he afraid to compete for votes? Do us all a favor and do some fact checking and analysis and leave the opinion stuff to us bloggers.

Bet Palin would been the DEER in the headlights if the teleprompter went down LOL ,shes got no more reason of thinking shes able to be president/v.president ,then the republican party acutally talking bout issuses besides 9/11 how many times you gota try and strike fear to win a vote people get a new catch pharse BUSH ran that one in the dirt

  • Posted By: O'BryanforDem's @ 09/04/2008 11:08:00 AM

I bet all you shouting McCain and Palin think BUSH was a good president LOL get a real view and wake up you SHEEP!!!

    impartial1 -

the republican party has historically been the white boys club. problem with that is , the population is turning more brown. Your days are numbered

yea, that's why they ended slavery against the wishes of the democarats

      • Posted By: jnakhoul @ 09/04/2008 11:10:13 AM

oh shut up everyone knows that the party names have switched since then

    • Posted By: jkm17928 @ 09/04/2008 12:21:09 AM

Get a grip. This implied racism because the republicans are primarily comprised of white males is ridiculous. Republicans support any race of people as long as those people believe in supporting themselves rather than relying on the government. Take a long close look at the racist history of the democratic party and the fact that they simply play minorities for their votes.

    • Posted By: everything in moderation @ 09/04/2008 12:10:17 AM

Yes, that is interesting. Obama never wants to glorify his half-caucasian ancestry. Is he not going to represent all Americans?

    • Posted By: mrzoid @ 09/04/2008 12:08:17 AM

Yeah, i saw those 10 african americans too, that was impresive; hell, one of them was even wearing a cowboy hat, Yee-haw!!

  • Posted By: Whataboutthefacts? @ 09/04/2008 11:09:44 AM

What kind of reporting is this? Mentioning that he got 18 million votes in a democratic primary runoff? Then mentioning she got a few votes for Mayor (an actual office, not a runoff for a spot on a ticket)? Was she not voted into the governership? What did she get, a couple hundred votes there too? Come on, do us all a favor and do some analysis and fact finding. Leave the opinions to the bloggers.

    Let's try again.

This is the third time I ask Republicans that are so concerned about Obama's inexperience to explain to us how is it that NOT ONE of the main characters in W Bush's administration showed up at your convention?

Don't they have more experience than Obama? Is your convention not the perfect venue to showcase their "experience" and accomplishments... And compare them to Obama's???

So Republicans can you walk your talk? Where are the photo ops of Bush and McCain hand in hand in front of your cheering convetioneers??? Are you not proud of their experience ??
After all you supported Bush 100% of the time and Sen. McCain supported him 90% of the time. Now that's experience you can take to the bank right Republicans?

So far I have posted the same question three times , and still no Republican takers..... Why so Shy Reps? Cat cut your tong?

    • Posted By: valark @ 09/04/2008 11:09:02 AM

No one is answering you directly because first of all, it isn't a question. It is an opinion with some question marks after them. In short, they are loaded questions. Next, it is impossible for anyone, except for those people themselves to know why they did anything and I doubt highly that cabinet members are hanging around these message boards waiting for a chance to explain themselves. Lastly, your opinion contradicts itself to make an argument. You are saying that Bush and his Cabinet are bad people yet you ask why no one is willing to be prominently displayed near them at a large public gathering. Since your argument answers itself, it is fairly obvious that you aren't really asking a question that you want to discuss to learn other perspectives but are cherry picking to make a point. To answer a thought like that head on is to ask for the argument to be repeated in a jejune way.

That should get Palin through the next three weeks. By the end of the month, the McCain camp can say she has to go to ground to prepare for the Oct. 2 vice presidential debate, where expectations will be so low for Palin that she will likely emerge intact. It will be up to the press and public to raise enough of a stink about this, that Palin is forced to submit to real interviews with real questions that show whether her real-life experience is any preparation for assuming high office. In that sense, the Palin nomination is as much of a test of us as it is of her.

The press?? were has the press been?? When will Obama submit to real interview? When is the press going to stop thier bias reports??

Last night all I heard was let's drill and drill which will get us a few more years worth of oil and then what? I heard all about how McCain wants to put a nuclear reactor in my back yard. I heard about more tax cuts when we are spending 12million a day in Iraq and our national debt is climbing at an alarming rate. I heard nothing about helping the middle class (you know those of us making less than 5 million per year). I heard nothing about how to grow the ecconomy, I heard nothing about turning around global warming. I heard absolutely no new or fresh ideas.

It's hillarious to hear the republicans spin Palin as fresh and young. I guess when your canidate just turned 72 years old you get desperate and look for any young republican women even if she is a nobody from the backwoods of Alaska with a mullet.

That was the oldest and whitest audience I have ever seen last night. We all know that the republican party is not exactly the party of inclusion though didn't we? I was also at the Excel Energy Center early this year for a Springsteen concert and I have to say that it is a pretty small venue.

Sarah Palin could read very well from a teleprompter which is what I would have expected from a former sportscaster. However she clearly stands for everything I don't. Prolife, anti-enviroment, tax cuts for the wealthy, pro nuclear energy; who wants a nuclear reactor in their back yard? We do not need another republican looking out for the wealthy and the special interests.

    Obama: 130 "Present"
means that he didn't agree with everything that was in the bill and most of the other dems voted that way do to underlying republican ways of abuse of power in the bill EffYou and great name by the way shows same way I feel towards the republican party and all the views and bet took you all night to come up with that name

  • Posted By: vindido @ 09/04/2008 11:00:11 AM

Marlowy, your comment about her being a "crack whore"because she has five kids, the last handicapped,is exactly what is going to give the Republicans the election this year.Yo usound like the eliteist left wing media, and remind Americans what they despise about the networks .You are a low life dirt bag

I am single unwed mother. I have earned a bachelor's degree as well as a Master's degree. Also, I know very well about having special needs children and I'm friends of people with special needs children. So what Sarah Palin is trying to "play on" is something women in America deal with everyday. She and the Republican party/John McCain's campaign want to keep her personal life personal yet she was the one that put it in front of America. She just forgot to mention that little detail that her daughter was pregnant...oh and now that it's public, the daughter and the boyfriend are getting married, please. Honestly, who really cares...but don't try to patronize us as Americans. The real issue is- Can she lead this country?. And she does not have the experience nor did she really express any ideals last night that has me convinced. She made no real distinction of being different by participating in the silliness that the McCain campaign has stooped to with the constant "undercuts" of Obama's campaign. Sarah Palin wants to portray herself as a "Hockey Mom" but myself as an educated woman that has a middle class income, active at my child's school, and supports women's rights, could NOT relate to her. This is a pitiful and almost insulting attempt by McCain's campaign to bring this woman into their campaign expecting to arouse women and undecided voters. Women and people who are undecided...in the next few weeks, please let's look at the real issues and decide who is really fit to lead this country.

I agree with you. It's almost disturbing that the teenage father was on the stage. It's an unfortunate situation, but glamourizing it and making it seem like it is okay or part of the American dream is bothersome. I'm also a mother, and although I would support my child in that situation, I would no go so far as to condone it by having the boyfriend attend my function thousands of miles away and hold hands with my daughter on the stage. It would be differnet if they were currently married. This situation should not be exploited by the media, but shduld also not be glamorized.

In an overcrowded world, I believe Sarah Palin having 5 kids, the last with special needs, is as irresponsible as any crack whore. She kept the earmark money she tries to say she opposed. She's just a Barbie doll to get the female votes. No Substance.

  • Posted By: mychoice @ 09/04/2008 10:53:52 AM

Sarah Palin wants creationism taught in schools, she wants to ban books, she wants to revoke women's right to choose, she has a history of abuse of power in her short term as governor of Alaska, she has already lied to the American people about her stand on the bridge to no where. Taking $430 million dollars and then saying no to the bridge when she found out Alaska would have to come up with several millions dollars is hardly saying thanks, but no thanks to the bridge. She also kept the $430 million. So, Sarah Palin has the executive experience that the republicans are looking for. Extreme views, total disregard for American people thinking for themselves, disrespect for others who have differing views and an arrogant fight first, use force to get your way approach. She is the perfect compliment to John McCain's adverse to the real needs of America point of view. She does not represent the American people. She is a mother, she has a familty and she is a liar with views reminscent of the 1600s "witchhunts". Burn anyone who does't agree with me mentality! This view represents Bush/Cheney/McCain---IT DOES NOT REPRESENT THE INTELLIGENCE AND COMMITMENT OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. WE ARE NOT A NATION OF WHINERS, AND OUR ISSUES ARE NOT JUST IN OUR MINDS.
