Rush is so correct when he calls you all the "drive by media"!

As if Rush "to judgment" doesn't do the same exact thing. He just happens to say the things that YOU WANT TO HEAR! And really, that's all this is about. Read a George Will article if you want radical conservative perspective.

This discussion makes it clear Obama should be running for Vice President, where you have time to learn on the job as an apprentice to the president. Dems should flip their ticket and Biden presidential candidate.
Only problem is, nobody voted for him in Iowa. And the people who voted for Obama didn't know about his teachers Ayres, Wright. If media hadn't coveruped for Obama, the race would be Clinton Vs McCain and we won't be faced with the risk another Jimmy Carter president.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY REGAN WAS AN ACTOR..WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DID HE HAVE. WHO GIVES A CRAP ABOUT EXPERIENCE? WHAT MATTERS IS WHO IS LOOKING OUT FOR THE PEOPLE AND NOT THE GOVERNMENT AND THE THINGS THEY HAVE GOTTEN AWAY WITH. I HAVE SAID FOR YEARS OUR PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT ARE FIGURES/YES THEY DO MAKE CHANGE, BUT IT IS OUR HOUSE, OUR CONGRESS AND OUR SENENT WHO PUT FORTH THE LAWS AND CHANGE THE LAWS AND ADD THE LAWS THAT EFFECT EACH AMERICAN. WE ARE A NATION OF AMERICANS NOT OF ONE ETHENIC GROUP OR COLOR. WE ARE AS ONE TO MAKE OUR NATION GREAT. LISTEN TO THE WAY BOTH PARTIES SPEAK. WE ARE ONE NATION UNDER GOD. IF WE DO NOT REMEMBER THIS OUR NATION WILL FALL. MAY GOD BLESS US ALL IN ALL DECIONS AND MADE WITH HONESTY AND INTEGRATY, THANK YOU KATHY ETTMAN, LONGWOOD, FLORIDA

    Jon, ... Jon,
Why have you completely missed the point,...again? Gov. Palin has MORE Executive experience than both of your nominees together, yet you insist on making a comparison. Experience does not consist of how many days have I spent in D.C. sitting on my ass or posturing for the cameras (or plagiarizing British politicians). It consists of ... doing, walking the talk as it were, the Gov. has been doing, with consequences, for years. All Joe has done is sit in the Senate and bring home the bacon, and as for your 'Top of the Ticket' guy I don't know what creditable experience he possesses to assume the position of Chief Executive of the United States of America.
As for the "Commander in Chief" hat, Sarah Palin said it best, paraphrasing, ONLY ONE CANDIDATE has ever fought for you...where winning meant surviving and losing meant dying, JOHN S. MCCAIN.

    You were saying.....................?

The GOP is fond of clocks. Earlier this year there was a clock on FOX News that calculated the days, hours, minutes and seconds that Barack Obama had not come to FOX to be interviewed. Currently on the RNC website, there is a clock ticking as they count the hours "Since Biden's Last Gaffe".

Perhaps someone should give republicans a good dose of their own medicine and start counting the days, hours and minutes since Sarah Palin last granted an interview with the national media. We can start asking the question, what is Sarah Palin hiding? Why wont Palin answer the questions that the American people deserve? Why is McCain hiding his VP pick?

What a cynical view! If the media would stop giving their damn opinions maybe the real american people could make up their own minds without the media basis! It's high time you all started reporting the news instead of commenting on it! Rush is so correct when he calls you all the "drive by media"!

People: When asked about his own leadership experience, here's what Obama said: "Well, I've had to manage my own presidential campaign." Come on! Talk about fodder for Saturday Night Live! (Or at least Stephen Colbert.) Per Obama's pathetic, circular logic, EVERYONE who runs for President is, thereby, qualified to be President. Simply because everyone who runs has to manage a campaign. Face the facts: Barack Hussein Obama is on the ropes.

Obama won 18 million votes, faced countless tough interviews and emerged with a reputation for fluency in discussing affairs of state

    Countless tough interviews?????
You have got to be kidding!
Has any one in the media asked Barry Obama what happened to the $100 million in educational reform grants he gave away with William Ayers?

Obama has gotten a media pass!... Countless tough interviews.

The Constitution mandates only two qualifications to be President and Vice-President. One, the candidates must be native born citizens. Two, the candidates must be 35 years old at the time of assuming the offices. Both Sarah Palin and Barack Obama are qualified candidates according to the constitutional mandate. Jonathan Alter is an idiot and has been in the tank for the Democratic Party for years. His argument that "campaigning for the presidency" provides more experience to be president than being a govenor is preposterous on its face. Alter has zero credibility.

"Governor of the largest state in the Union"

That's the equivalent of saying you or I managed Antarctica. Give me a break!

She has accomplished more during her time in political office than Obama has in his time in political office (anti-corruption legislation, balancing budgets, negotiating the gas pipeline, to name just a few). Combine that fact with her executive experience and a few months of on the job training as VP and she will have significantly more experience (including foreign policy experience) than Obama has now.

"Obama won 18 million votes, faced countless tough interviews and emerged with a reputation for fluency in discussing affairs of state, whatever one thinks of his politics. "

COUNTLESS TOUGH INTERVIEWS??? It is more of a media pass!

You have got to be kidding! What happened to the $100 million in grant money Obama doled out with William Ayers for education reform?

I think she delivered a good reading of a speech tonight; lets see how she does without a writer and a teleprompter.

Nothing can be worse that Obama without a prompter....have you heard him try to talk without notes. Uh! Where was his desk?

Am I missing something? Did he just say that Alaska was half the size of Brooklyn?

    • Posted By: Dduellman @ 09/04/2008 10:27:07 AM

Alaska has a population of around 600,000 people. Brooklyn has a population of just under 2,500,000.

I can't take credit for the research here but Obama's record seems pretty good to me, especially for a JUNIOR senator:

Of the 15 bills Senator Obama sponsored or co-sponsored in 2005-7 that became law:

    Two addressed foreign policy:
Promote relief, security and democracy in the Congo (2125)
Develop democratic institutions in areas under Palestinian control (2370).

    Three addressed public health:
    Improve mine safety (2803)
    Increased breast cancer funding (597)
Reduce preterm delivery and complications, reduce infant mortality (707).

Two addressed openness and accountability in government:
Strengthening the Freedom of Information Act (2488)
Full disclosure of all entities receiving federal funds (2590)

    Two addressed national security
    Extend Terrorist Risk Insurance (467)
    Amend the Patriot Act (2167)

One addressed the needs of the Armed Forces
Wave passport fees to visit graves, attend memorials/funerals of veterans abroad (1184).

IT IS AMAZING TO ME THAT THE MEDIA WILL LOOK BEYOND PALIN THE CANDIDATE AND SHRED HER LIFE AND THE LIFE OF HER FAMILY EVEN SO MUCH AS TO FABRICATE STORIES ABOUT HER AND HER BABY AND HER DAUGHTER'S BABY. WHEN OBAMA CAN GET AWAY WITH OUT AND OUT LIES ABOUT HIS RECORD, HIS ASSOCIATIONS AND HIS BELIEFS. JOURNALISTS ARE NOT JOURNALISTS WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THEY ARE SIMPLY PEOPLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA WITH A PERSONAL AGENDA. A LIBERAL (SOCIALIST) AGENDA, TRYING TO INFLUENCE PEOPLE AND HOW THEY THINK. IF THAT IS YOU AND THAT IS MOST OF YOU, THEN AT LEAST BE BRAVE ENOUGH TO ADMIT IT AND GET YOUR OWN SHOW. OH, I FORGOT, SHOWS WITH A LIBERAL AGENDA SEEM ALWAYS TO FAIL. PALIN WAS GREAT AND THE LIBS CAN'T STAND IT. FEMINISTS WILL HATE HER BECAUSE SHE IS EVERYTHING THEY AREN'T AND SHE 'S STILL SUCCESSFUL, GORGEOUS AND SMART. TO SAY THAT SHE WILL ONLY APPEAL TO WOMEN WHO ARE LESS INTELLIGENT IS AN INSULT AND I FOR ONE (WITH A COLLEGE EDUCATION) WILL PROUDLY VOTE REPUBLICAN IN NOVEMBER.

YOU must not have gotten the filthy, despicable, lying emails about Obama. You seem to forget that he's been around for several years and had everybody poking into all aspects of his life. Like it or not, If you are going to run for political office, you have to expect your personal and private life inspected. There is no liberal agenda here. The American people want to know what kind of person is going to be the vice-president of a 72 year old man who is not in the best of health.
I would hope that when you go to the doctor you try to find the best one. We Americans are trying to find the best person who might, God forbid, have to enter the Oval Office. I can tell you, personal and social values aside, it is not Sarah Palin.

  • Posted By: Concerned2008 @ 09/04/2008 10:26:34 AM

Great article that highlights the absurdity in the Republican position and in the speeches last night. The "Obama" that they spoke about doesn't exist (check your facts before you speak) and I hope America will see through the petty attacks that do nothing but insult the intelligence of the people whose support they're supposed to be seeking (on that point, since when did being a community organizer with a concern for helping poor people become the punchline to a joke?).

  • Posted By: Mike Kilo @ 09/04/2008 9:58:02 AM

So, Jonathan, Obama is qualified to be president of the United States because he's talked a good game for 18 months? That's your argument?

Here are the facts. Obama was a "community activist", whatever that was. (The media haven't inquired.) Then he was a mostly non-voting member of a state legislature. Then, by a fluke, he has been a mostly absent and mostly non-voting U.S. Senator for a mere 2 years.

By contrast, Palin was the mayor of a town of 9,000. Meaning that she actually had to make bottom-line decisions that impacted lives and livlihoods. Manage budgets. Hire and fire people. Take heat. Lead. Every small town, remember, is a cross-section of America.

Then Palin was the governor of Alaska, the most resource-rich state in the Union. And one that does $4 billion dollars of year in trade with countries like China, Russia, and Korea. That's real foreign policy experience. Not just talking a good game.

Look--if you want to attack Palin on the issues, go ahead. But don't pretend that if she doesn't have the experience to be President, then Obama does. That is absurd.

    • Posted By: Mike Kilo @ 09/04/2008 10:25:58 AM

Being a "community organizer" (with no concrete, specific accomplishments to speak of) and a part-time, mostly absent, mostly non-voting, state legislator does not quality one to be president of the United States of America. The best argument I've heard for Obama in regard to the foregoing is that "everyone liked him". Folks, are you seriously trying to convince America that that's a qualification for President? As opposed to having been a mayor and Governor of the largest state in the Union?
