McCain's Tricky Calculation

I am a teacher and most of the politicians and the press that writes about them sound alot like the twelve year olds I teach. I want to know what each candidate wants to accomplish in detail and how they will accomplish it. Leave the soap operas for afternoon tv.

That's 20 months longer than Obama! All Obama has done is run for office.

According to you, he is qualified because he "faced countless tough interviews and emerged with a reputation for fluency in discussing affairs of state"

There is no question Obama speaks well and has has memorized a lot of good catch phrases, but what has he done? He should be working for Hallmark, not running for the office of the president!

I watched Sarah Palin last night and was thoroughly put off by her speech that lacked any substance on issues but was a junior high school version of the "dozens". She has a paucity of education and yes, experience. She was the mayor of a liitle town and then became a mayor of a bigger town ( Alaska has only 600,000 people). There are larger neighborhoods than this where the community organizers that she reviled in her speech execute needed services everyday such as job training, healthcare, babysitting services, housing, mental health needs,etc. They are able to make positive impacts with a shoestring budget. I know because as a physician working in an underserved area, I often could depend on these people to coordinate services for my patients when the local, elected officials refused to help because it was not in their political best interest. Sarah Palin knows about her political best interest. It's an exercise of egotistical magnitude for her to think that with her background that she can operate within modern day governing which is international. Any VP in this day will have to sit down with the world's leaders and speak intelligently on many issues and earn their respect. They will think she is a joke. She doesn't even have the basic template that would make on the job training plausible.
Also, I thought how ironic it was for the Republican Party that has reviled teens ( minority and poor) who have been unwed mothers, parade Bristol Palin and her baby's daddy on that stage as if she were the Virgin Mary. How hypocritical! Furthermore, it was just four years ago when the Republicans said that John Kerry's war experience was not relevant because we had already fought Vietnam. Now, every other word out of their mouths is about John McCain's war credentials. This party has pandered in the most hypocritical to the most divisive elements of our society. They are not the reform party; they are the repugnant party.

It scares the hell out of me to think that Palin could become Vice President backing a 72 year old president. It isn???t going to happen, the American public as a whole couldn???t be that stupid. McCain has made a huge mistake making his VP choice a gimmick. He has pandered to the base but the independents and moderate Republicans have been slapped in the face with this nomination. Palin has a record of being mean spirited and attacking and firing people that don???t agree with her. If that is executive experience then she needs to go back to Leadership 101. She has made so many enemies in Alaska and is under indictment for misuse of power. I would have loved to see Hillary win but Obama won. He is a rising star who cares more about the people than any other politician we have had running for president. I can???t wait for all of the skeletons to come flying out of Palin???s closets.

Sarah Palin was already in elected office while Obama was merely a community organizer.

Sarah Palin has more executive experience (as a successful business owner, Mayor, and Governor) than both the democrat candidate for President and the one for Vice President.

Sarah Palin has actually served a longer term as a Governor than Obama has served as a Senator who almost immediately upon becoming a senator, decided to run for President.

As a Governor, Sarah Palin has actually set and balanced budgets, whereas Obama and Biden have, as Senators, merely proposed more spending without any concern for how their proposals would bloat the federal budget.

Sarah Palin has actually decided to and achieved a reduction in her Governor???s salary and fringe benefits, whereas Obama merely fixates on his pay grade.

Sarah Palin has actually reduced government spending by selling on eBay the Alaskan Governor???s airplane, thereby returning the money to the citizens, whereas Obama and Biden have merely talked about reducing spending in an unspecified manner.

Sarah Palin has actually opposed her Republican Party by defeating a corrupt incumbent Republican governor, whereas Obama and Biden have never even denounced an unscrupulous democrat, let alone attempted to remove one from office.

Sarah Palin has not resorted to throwing any of her past and current supporters under the bus, whereas Obams has discarded several, including one convicted felon.

Sarah Palin demonstrates a loving respect for and appreciation of her parents, whereas Obama exhibits repulsion toward his promiscuous father who abandoned him, and contempt for his grandmother who he has described as being a typical white woman.

Sarah Palin will be consistent in her statements voiced throughout the many cities and towns in the US, whereas Obama says one thing in Scranton and then the opposite in San Francisco.

Sarah Palin has actually voted in favour of, or against bill propositions, whereas Obama, on 130 occasions, has lamely voted present.

Open Letter to Republican Demagogues,

Good day. It has been almost 8 years since the repressive regime of GWB took over America. In that timeframe we've had a mismanaged, costly and unpopular war. "Hey, I support the warmongers and even had a cousin fight in Iraq but I NEVER did. 9/11/01 FOREVER!"
Gas prices have blown through the roof thanks to the coziness of Dick and liquid gold(this includes GWB.) "Hey, gas prices are higher in Europe morons!" Never mind that Europe TAXES gasoline at a much higher rate than the U.S.
Phil Gramm(who now works behind the scenes devising McCain's economic policy) recklessly pushed through bills that deregulated Wall Street, which allowed America's citizens to suffer with said high gas prices and the current foreclosure fiasco. "Who cares? Those people shouldn't have bought homes they couldn't afford anyway." Let's not mention that some unscrupulous mortgage lenders prayed on the naivete of said individuals. Let's delve into the state of America's floundering banks shall we. "What? I have offshore accounts in Lichtenstein, so that doesn't affect me!"
Essential daily items, like food, have increased exponentially under the watch of GWB. "But there are glorious times to a Republican!" Katrina? "Tsk. Everything went smoothly there. It was the retard mayor and governor at fault!"

But alas, I digress. GWB supposedly had "executive" experience as a governor. We see where that got us. It's amusing that a white woman with no knowledge of anything outside of moose hunting and secession from the U.S. is more qualified to be President than Obama. A woman plagued by charges of corruption, scandal and influence peddling is more ready to lead a nation of 280 million instead of a town of 8,000 or a state of 600,000, but can barely manage her own household. Then the conservatives whine when her background is picked apart? It was OK to do it to Barack and spread vicious lies and unfounded rumors. Karma is a you know what!

Someone explain to me what a community organizer does and how voting present so many times on issues(because they were afraid to take a position) makes Obama ready to lead? I can't wait for the debates. Obama will be called out like the empty suit he is and Biden will find out about the pit bulldog with lipstick. This is going to be too easy!

Democrat Joe Biden, in what he intended as self-deprecating remark, observed, ???There's a gigantic difference between John McCain and Barack Obama and between me and I suspect my vice presidential opponent. ... She's good looking." Well, talk about being sensitive to women....
WAKE UP WOMEN, AND LOOK TO THE PARTY THAT REALLY CARES ABOUT YOUR PLIGHT!

Yet another "yellow journalism" writer who has an obvious bias, a lot of statements of conjecture to make her look bad, but no real facts to back it up. She fought her own party and won. What has Obama ever done besides vote "present" most of the time? Obama is like the emperor with no clothes.

This morning on national TV McCain's spokeswoman said Palin will talk to Americans, but not to media. Why are they so afraid of what Palin might say?

Mr. Alter, it must be incredible being as smart and intelligent as you. Surely it takes someone like you writes for a living to see things as there are and should be and someone like Sarah Palin should get out of the way. Despite the fact she's been elected and successfully run state goverments, she is obviously inferior to you, Obama (still not sure what he has done and no - campaigning doesn't count), etc.

Well, there is still somthing to be said for trying 20th century strategy in a 21st century bid for change - nothing's changed. If it's so necessary to "protect" Sister Palin NOW, just imagine her in the White House among the sharks who will virtually discard her and leave her to reading stories to grade-schoolers. Just like it does in sports and any other contest that will test readiness, time will ultimately prove how much both the Republican Presidential nominee and his running mate are really out of shape...
