The luster will soon wear off Palin, and her inexperience and ultra-conservative views will drag her down--and the McCain campaign with it. Do Americans really want Palin's finger on the nuclear trigger if McCain--72 years-old with a history of recurrent cancer--dies or becomes disabled in office?

She has accomplished more during her time in office than Obama has in his (anti-corruption legislation, balancing budgets, negotiating the gas pipeline, to name just a few). Combine that with her executive experience and a few months of on the job training as VP and she will have significantly more experience that Obama has now, even in matters of foreign policy.

If she had been FDR with a dress, the libs still wouldn't have liked her. This is now a winable race for the Repubs, and the chances are looking better and better. Bold, brilliant choice by Mac, showing he is not President Bush, or anyone else for that matter, but his own person.

Regardless of the outcome of this fall's elections, I yearn for the time when those members of our 4th estate who recklessly include some form of the word "news" in their titles return to the performance of that critical function. Individuals who are more interested in building their reputations as "pundits" than in reporting facts for us to use in reaching our own conclusions need to recuse themselves from the news industry and market themselves as consultants, activists, or any other title that properly implies a personal level of bias.

I get enough sound bites, warped "facts", and unattributed quotes from the politicians themselves ... I don't need a media-based plethora of repeaters and amplifiers. For the sake of the pioneers of reporting, please tell me what you know, not what you think. Let me decide for myself.

I don't think it matters what the issues are in THIS election. Bottom line is: This country sucks right now for anyone who isn't white AND rich. End of story. Cut all the rhetoric and vote for REAL CHANGE- and that is OBAMA/ BIDEN. I liked John Mccain 10 years ago. Now he's Bush reincarnated.

I can't believe after the Bush/Cheney snowjob, Americans are still this blind (should say stupid but I'm trying to be nice). McCain? Sure. Possibly. But Palin? Are you effin kidding me? Russia attacks an ally and you think Palin could deal with Medvedev? Because that is a distinct possibility. Choose VERY carefully America. This woman will hold the SECOND most powerful spot in the country for the NEXT FOUR YEARS if you elect her. Oh McCain WHAT were thinking?

You really shouldn't refer to Michelle Obama like that, it isn't very nice.

She took the gloves off first. Fire at will! Republicans as usual, make an issue of something before it is and then play the media that they aren't getting a fair hand delt to them. Obama had better start swinging at the knee caps just as his opponents have been, Democrats need to look at how evil the Republicans have played the last two elections and start playing the same game. Let's see out of the last two elections EVIL 2, GOOD 0. Evil always triumphs over Good!!!!! (SpaceBalls the Movie)

My only comment is - you are raising so much fuss about her answering questions - where are the questions for Obama. You (the media) have asked more questions of her in the last 5 days than you have asked Obama in the last 19 months. Where is your credibility now?

Barack Obama graduated from Columbia University. He graduated from Harvard Law School magna *** laude. He was elected President of the Harvard Law Review a highly prestigious position. He organized the largest and most successful voter registration drive in the history of Chicago one of our largest and most storied cities. He served as an Illinois State Senator for 8 years. He has served as a US Senator for four years. He has been able to get ethics reform through in the Illinois State Senate and the US Senate although in both houses he was warned that it woul never happen. He joined with Senator Luger to get a Nuclear Proliferation bill passed and signed into law. He deftly used the amendment process in the US Senate to get legislation passed to help veterans gain better access to health care and shelter. He was the Keynote Speaker at the Democratic National Convention. He has been received by world leaders and has spoken before them under the glaring spotlight of the National and International media. He went toe to toe with the powerful juggernaut Clinton machine and was able still to garner their support at the DNC convention. He put on one of the most successful conventions of all time. He has run a campaign that pundits will study and write about for years to come. He has done the impossible by attracting 18 million votes from parts of the country that have rarely voted Democratic much less voted for a person of color. He is a leader, but of course the Republicans believe if they keep repeating a lie, people will fall for it. I would match his resume against anyone. If you were looking at his resume you would be impressed. But again, if I keep telling you the earth is flat, at some point you will believe that too. You have a choice. Vote for a loose cannon, John McCain, or the born leader Barack Obama, who has shown exceptional leadership capabilities and who has proven to be the more responsible of the two.

I have an idea- why doesn't the media begin reporting actual facts, news and information and let the American people make up their own minds? I see a vicious smear campain on one side and a stream of relentless worship on the other - do you really feel THAT qualified to manipulate voters and decide the outcome of an election to determine the leader of this great nation in such a crucial time? That is what your are doing with your one-sided, biased 'reporting'. I don't really care about your opinion, I don't think anyone else does either. But when you report your opinion as if it were the news, that is inexcusable, misleading to the American people and an insult to your profession. You all should take a hard look at yourselves- you should NOT get to choose our president by manipulating voters into thinking that your opinions are news and it is the worst kind of egotism that would make you think it is for our own good. If you are so sure you know what is best for us, why don't you run yourselves and expose your families to the scrutiny, slander and false accusations that Sarah Palin now has to deal with? No wait...I guess you would run on the Dem side so you wouldn't have to worry about it. You (the media) should be ashamed of yourself and this disgraceful turn that has taken journalism from a proud tradition of facts, unbiased reporting and an unflinching prusuit of truth into a popularity contest. Shame on you.

I am extremely concerned about Palin for VP. She may be a wonderful choice......with a few years of more diversified experience, but NOT NOW. After seeing how John McCain has flubbed answers to questions asked at gatherings, where someone had to whisper the correct information in his ear (usually Joe Lieberman) it frightens me to think that within the next 4 years, with all the stress that the President must work under, that Mr. McCain may very well not be up to the job mentally or physically. Having an inexperienced VP take over the reigns in a world as complicated as it is, is overwhelming frightening to me. I get the feeling that Palin is another vindictive person like Bush and we don't need 4 more years of that!!!

    Palin is change?
    That???s a crock.
That???s the first word that comes to my mind after vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin introduced herself to the American people.
First she claims to be an outsider. Then she brags her status as an average hockey mom who signed up for the PTA and ran for city council.. This automatically makes her qualified for vice president.
What she did not mention was the truth. Also according to an article by Peter Wallsten in the Los Angeles Times (September 2, 2008) Palin frequently on lobbying trips to Washington. As mayor of Wasilla, she netted $ 26.9 worth of earmarks from 2002-2003 As govenor she requested 31 earmarks worth $ 197 million. She also originally supported infamous ???Bridge to nowhere.??? which McCain uses as an egregious example of outrageous pork barrel spending.
Considering that Palin got the endorsement of former crook and indicted Speaker of the House Tom DeLay, I would not be surprised if Palin has found ways to help herself to some of the money she earmarked to Alaska.
In addition, Palin???s energy proposals are also made up of deceptive advertising. Her priorities do not promise clean energy. Instead, they reflect the wishes of the lobbyists for the nuclear power industry who are financing McCain???s campaign,
More drilling will not bring cheaper gasoline; it could pose severe environmental risks. Nuclear power, which Palin promotes, is not renewable. It also has severe environmental risks - and Palin has not come up with a sound, way to dispose of nuclear waste, which will be a multi-billion dollar tax burden for future generations. Palin shows no understanding about the environmental risks of global warming, probably because she refuses to believe that global warming comes from carbon-based, fossil fuels. These are dangerous misconceptions for future generations. Palin again has lied to the American people.
Palin does not represent change. She???s just a new variation of the same old lies and deceptions that the Republican party has used for time immemorial. McCain and Palin are just another version of Bush and Cheney. More of the same with McCain.

    Republicans are taking crazy pills.

This is McCain's "any white girl will do" strategy. The truth is that this country rarely votes people of color into positions of major responsibility, then cry, you can't play because you don't have the experience or longevity. Well, think about it. How many Senators or Governors have there been who weren't white? Of course if the candidate is white, experience no longer matters much. George Bush II was in an alcohol and drug haze during much of his life until his father gained the Presidency and he was ordered to clean up his act along with some well placed threats from Laura to hit the road Jack. Yet America embraced him. America will embrace Sarah Palin as well because she is white inspite of all of her questionable activities. This is the way of this country and it is slow to change. Remember that the people who vote the most are over 60 and remember well a time when blacks were restricted by Jim Crow and had to take a back seat by law. Those old fogies never believed in equality and will vote to take us back to a time when only they were allowed in the country club and blacks were let in only to clean the toilets and the grounds. This is why they have flocked to the Republican Party aka The National White People's Party. How sad.

AS A DIE HEART HILLARY SUPPORTER, IT IS AN INSULT TO ME THAT THE REP THINKS I WOULD VOTE FOR MCCAIN/PALIN BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMENT....SHE IS NOT FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTS... SHE TALKS ABOUT LEAVING HER FAMILY BUSINESS OUT OF RACE BUT DISPLAYS THEM FRONT & CENTER. I THNK SHE SLHOULD STAY HOME AND TEACH HER YOUNGER DAYGHTER ABOUT ABSTINENCE....

So much for an opinion piece dressed up like a factual piece. Why are we spending so much time comparing the VP nominee to the presidential nominee? I don't recall that ever being such a big deal in previous contests. Perhaps its because one presidential nominee can't stand up against the other presidential nominee, or perhaps because one VP nominee has been passed over twice by his own party and can't stand up against a woman.

Well, I had hoped that McCain would buck the system and pick Joe Lieberman. That said, I believe that her experience in a small state is very valuable. From personal experience as a department manager at several small and medium commands in the U S Navy I had to face the same issues and challanges as those serving in larger commands. On the other hand the "founder" of the Republican party and one of our greatest presidents had only one term in a state house for experience and he saw us through the Civil War.
