Forget vice-presidency, Palin is ready to be the next president!

    • Posted By: OldLefty @ 09/03/2008 11:44:00 PM

Hey, the mayor of my town (of a size five times bigger than Wasilla) has been in office for eight years. He must be qualified to be President too!!!!!

      • Posted By: everything in moderation @ 09/04/2008 1:11:12 AM

I'll take your mayor of your community over a liberal elitist lawyer anyday.

Johnathan Alter is the left's version of Sean Hannity on the right. Predictable, un-intellectual, and hypocritical.

Mr Alter, the extent of your ignorance and lack of political astuteness is quite breathtaking especially considering that this is how you make a living. i suppose this is a form of affirmative action ( for journalistswho are a little slow on the uptake) and welfare as well!!! what say you?

The Press could start a "PALIN PRESS CONVERENCE CLOCK" - as a fraction of days before her debate. Let's say between when McCain announced her as VP and the Oct. 2 vice presidential debate there's 35 days, with everyday that Palin avoids a real press conference, it's one more day added to the total... 5/35, 6/35, etc, with the question "When will she have a press conference?" etc. Maybe this idea is dumb, or maybe someone can shape it into something a bit better.....

Shameless propaganda... and btw, writing, just like Rogaine, doesn't work for you: quit it!

Palin has opened her big nasty mouth ,heres to praying Biden puts his foot in it!

    Palin...just anther angry evangelical!

There is a reason red starters are now known as "pinkos" among us war veterans. That is because the republicans have done more to advance Russia that Russia has.

    .
The press has put the screws to Hillary.
The press has put the screws to Obama.
The press has put the screws to McCain.
The press has put the screws to Romney.

Now will some one explain to me why Sarah Palin needs to be off limits to the press? Remember, this is the next 'potential' Commander-in-Chief.

    THINK PEOPLE, THINK!!
WHEN DO YOU WANT SARAH TO BE VETTED - - NOW OR IN THE MIDDLE OF A NATIONAL CRISIS WITH REAL ENEMIES, OR WHEN REAL PRESSURE CAN CAUSE MILLIONS TO LOSE THEIR LIVES AND FORTUNES.

    THINK PEOPLE, THINK!!
This should not be partisan. It is in the nation???s interest that Sarah go through the same process that all other candidates went through.

  • Posted By: Disgusted American @ 09/03/2008 11:28:55 PM

Palin should be emarassed as an American to be used by the GOP as she has. I know she can't seriously think she is quilified to be a heart beat away from running this country. This goes to the old adage that people want the title and the prestige no matter how they come about it.

If McCain/Palin win this election it wil be conviencing evidence that our right to vote is no right at all. The republicans has stolen the presidence twice and it appears as if they my **cough cough** cheat to win it again.

Why doesn't Jonathan Alter just go to work for his Party, instead of trying to make us think he's actually a journalist.

  • Posted By: Rockyspoon @ 09/04/2008 12:51:07 AM

"....whatever one thinks of his [Obama's] policies".... What the heck is that? Mr. Alter must get past the delivery and think SUBSTANCE! For there's very few things Obama espouses that are correct--he's wrong on energy, he's wrong on Iraq, he's wrong on health care, and he's wrong on taxes. Anybody can't see that isn't using their BRAIN!

Time for sleep, so i will leave with this: PALIN IS AGAINST CHOICE FOR RAPE AND INCEST VICTIMS.

  • Posted By: mrzoid @ 09/04/2008 12:24:48 AM

I'm watching some excerpts from her speech, and I will avoid any and all sexism in my critique of it: What a smug, self-satisfied d*ckhead. The republican VP candidate is a real big c*ck and an even bigger as*hole. Angry Jack*ss was what i saw tonight. What a SOB.

There, no sexism in my attack at all.

    • Posted By: JAWLee @ 09/04/2008 12:33:07 AM

Can you make your point without name calling?

      • Posted By: mrzoid @ 09/04/2008 12:35:20 AM

Yes, but I enjoy the republican approach, it's just more fun, and damn is it easy.

  • Posted By: DJones71 @ 09/03/2008 11:20:58 PM

She was very well rehearsed, but if you have had almost a week to prepare I guess you would do a great job also. I wonder how she will do when she goes up against Joe Biden, where there is no script or que cards. I can hardly wait. Give her hell Joe, but do it with a smile!!!

    • Posted By: slknight @ 09/04/2008 12:32:55 AM

Enter Your Comment You act as though Obama and Biden didn't have months to prepare their speeches, so if she only had a week I guess she blew them out of the water.

  • Posted By: impartial1 @ 09/04/2008 12:28:08 AM

Ok mrzoid, for clarification, I agreed with your comments about Palin out speaking McCain....not the other so called non-sexism comments. Those are just hateful and discredit your beliefs. Learn to take the high road for crying out loud.

    • Posted By: mrzoid @ 09/04/2008 12:31:08 AM

Yeah i know what you were refering to, and if my sense of humor and irony offended you, than i owe you an apology... or nothing at all. just joking. No, but the point of that tirade was that if you take on Palin you are a sexist, but it's ok for her to rip on the entire non-republican public without accountability.

PREPARE FOR A BIG ???JOHN McCAIN / REPUBLICAN??? BAMBOOZLE!!

Well done Mr. Alter. The article makes vetting the next ???potential??? Commander-in-Chief crystal clear. It is very clear that McCain & Republicans are trying to beat the clock and use Sarah to rally their base within the next two months, in hopes of taking the White House before the voters and press can figure out what happened. They will shield her from the press and work some tricks for the debate, and before you know it, election day will be upon us and we still will not know who is Sarah Palin.

If Sarah was on McCain's radar for the past couple moths as Newt Gingrich insinuates, then he did a masterful job of keeping her out of the spotlight, and for obvious reasons. McCain knew Palin comes with baggage and he did not want any press members to get an early jump on vetting her as Obama has been vetted, screwed, squeezed, kicked, stomp, and bounced for the past 18-months.

Ironically many right-leaning voters claim they still don't know Obama, but they suddenly know and love Sarah even though they just heard her name a couple days ago.

  • Posted By: mrzoid @ 09/04/2008 12:18:47 AM

Here is the pitfall that none of you are touching on; as well as the extremely effective speaker Sarah Palin did, she raised the bar far to high for the less effective speaker John McCain. Is he going to continue the combative and mocking tone of the rest of the speakers? John McCain is no Sarah Palin in terms of speaking, he could stumble right under the ball tommorow in comparison; al the while never laying out a detailed plan for improvement. If John McCain doesn't deliver huge in specifics, all that will be established is a pile of attacks that had already been hurled at Obama. Good luck Johnny Mac.

    • Posted By: JAWLee @ 09/04/2008 12:29:07 AM

You are correct. Palin raised the bar so high that even Obama can catch up.

  • Posted By: everything in moderation @ 09/04/2008 12:23:57 AM

    MSNBC has picked their candidate!

    • Posted By: everything in moderation @ 09/04/2008 12:26:24 AM

Hopefully, Newsweek can maintain their journalistic neutrality, even though TV news can't.

  • Posted By: steve** @ 09/03/2008 11:20:35 PM

George Bush just sent Cheney to Central Asia to shore up our alliances following the conflict between Russia and Georgia. If a similar challenge arises in six months, do you want McCain sending Palin or Obama sending Biden?

    • Posted By: slknight @ 09/04/2008 12:25:27 AM

Enter Your Comment Palin thank you very much. At least the one with the balls would be going.

  • Posted By: impartial1 @ 09/04/2008 12:25:21 AM

Good points mrzoid. Another one we all need to wake up to......global use of Energy as a weapon. Palin is onto this. Putin had to step to a different office because he is to busy counting his money as the richest man in the world. Peace to all....I need some sleep.
