You buy our books, movies, television up the ying yang, food, fine dining and then bellyache.
Your kids are educated by our teachers and many of you enjoy your money working under the union label while freeloders are permitted. You'll bellyache about free medical while you don't have it now.

I don???t buy it, the Repubs bring the far right on board with a ???hottie??? designed to attract ???maverick??? womanizing McCain types, doesn???t matter if she has a brain. The proof is in all of Palin???s problems that are and will come to light. At the forefront is the blaring issue with her daughter. Not that she???s pregnant in and of itself, but the fact that it points to another failed, among many, Republican policies. We all knew, just saying no doesn???t work, now Palin gets to live with it. Then again is the problem, Palin just wasn???t there to educate her daughter (as she tells us all to do), she was spending her time into God knows what, when it comes to politics.

    McCain + Palin = Joke 2008

  • Posted By: love234america @ 09/03/2008 11:59:10 PM

Palin's speech tonight showed her strength, passion, intelligence, honor, patriotism, intelligence, her ability to learn very fast, the fact that she will make a great Vice President and someday a great President. She not only hit it out of the ballpark; she hit it to the moon.

    • Posted By: Sanepoltics2008 @ 09/04/2008 3:13:40 PM

Palin made a speech to the Venom Convention. The reason Palin hit it to the moon is that 's where most Republicans have been the last eight years. They don't deal with reality.

Your comment makes for the argument one needs sufficient intelligence to vote.

In Dublin, Ireland the largest bookmaker is accepting bets on the likelihood that Palin will be dropped from the GOP ticket ... following is an excerpt from theslowbleed.com: "Sarah Palin is now a 8/1 shot (from 16/1 yesterday) with Paddy Power to be dropped off the Republican ticket prior to November???s election. Paddy Power are also offering betting on what surprise the Alaskan senator will next spring on the American public. A driving offence is the bookies 5/2 favorite, a moose burger addiction is a less likely 33/1 shot and for the Alaskan Governor to claim a past abduction by aliens seems very unlikely and is available at odds of 500/1. "

The rest of the world turned their cheeks to the U.S. when Bush was re-elected in 2004. I can't imagine what the world's reaction will be to a VP who, as governor, line-vetoed assistance for pregnant teens, the elderly ... who sought to eliminate books from her local library ... who knows NOTHING about foreign policies. I can't wait to see the VP debates!!!

IF the baby boomers would bother to take care of their own families and their own pregnant daughters and ailing parents, she would not have had to do their thinking for them and line vetoed the assistance. Looks to me like she walks the walk and talks the talk. That means: she IS providing for her pregnant teen! That's what I call an excellent mother! She stands by her family in times of crises, and thereby so will she also stand by her country in times of crises. She says what she measn and means what she says.

Isn't is freshening to see a "regular" family on the stage?? Sarah is the best thing that ever happened to politics!!

    • Posted By: debbied @ 09/04/2008 2:48:16 PM

Are you insane? How is her family a "regular" family, but Barack Obama's isn't? He also came from a blue collar background and worked his way up. He spent years working for "regular" families like ours. She wants to take away the rights that women have worked for decades to get - the same ones that have resulted in her being able to be a mayor, a governor, and a VP candidate! Are you kidding me? Barack Obama fights for your children and mine every day to make sure they have a good education and health care! Wake up!

You republican commentators are so funny. good luck with this election. He's made a brilliant choice. If it weren't so serious, we could laugh at it.

  • Posted By: slymule @ 09/04/2008 2:34:06 PM

Unbelievable!!! Newsweek used to be a decent and unbiased source of world news, apparently not anymore. I've bought my last issue, no longer will I spend my money to support the printing of this kind of garbage. To stoop so low, scrounging through youtube to find this kind of garbage, just shows that indeed the media will leave no rock unturned in their quest to print their left wing slant.

  • Posted By: ramzfan @ 09/04/2008 2:33:14 PM

God Bless Sarah Palin...she has brought true republicanism to the table!

  • Posted By: AMT0728 @ 09/04/2008 2:32:27 PM

The vice president is imortant this time because the president may be the 72 year old one, in that case in
eight years the vice president mat become president

  • Posted By: AMT0728 @ 09/04/2008 2:30:30 PM

Vice President is an important job as specially since the president we elect may be the 72 year old guy. So there is a good chance that she will be president in the next eight years

I NEVER read Newsweek, unless I happen to be waiting to get my oil changed and there's nothing else to read, or I'm sitting in the john and there's no paper. Newsweek is one of the most LIBERAL pieces of trash that you'll ever find on a newstand. The others are the New York Times, Playboy, the L.A. Times and AOL.

  • Posted By: plb1 @ 09/04/2008 2:26:48 PM

What exactly is the point of this article? It seems to me nothing more than an attempt to indirectly ridicule Sarah Palin. I have nothing against parody, and if I had stumbled across this on youtube, or the like, I might have found it amusing. But this is being put forward by newsweek. Is newsweek supposed to stand for responsible, informative reporting? Or is it the new Mad magazine? If so, please bring back the old Mad magazine. It was much funnier, more credible, and had a greater sense of responsibility.

This ISN'T a news story. Thanks for pushing the leftist agenda through non-stories. You can't blog your preference because you are a so-called journalist, so instead you report on it. Nice job! Sarah's got the establishment's number and its open season. I can't wait for the backfire.

  • Posted By: tiredoflies @ 09/03/2008 11:16:14 PM

She might be great as long as she stays at her VP desk. That is a nothing job.

But sorry, she is just NOT prime time material.

And remember this: She is amongst her own right now with a speech written by a republican team.

She could say almost anything and be cheered.

    • Posted By: Gunga @ 09/04/2008 2:18:26 PM

If the VP of this country is a nothing job, then WHY is it so important. You need to do your homework. And, NO she is NOT prime time material...you weren't LISTENING! She DOESN'T WANT TO BE PRIME TIME MATERIAL>>>>that IS the whole point of being your own person. She cares not what the media thinks of her. AND: I EXPECT her speech to be written by a republican speech writer. she is a republican you cerainly wouldn't want YOUR speech to be written by a democrat would you? And, YES, she COULD say just about ANYTHING and be cheered!!! WOW! How xcool is that!!! She is THAT RIGHT_ON!

    • Posted By: wyris @ 09/04/2008 12:25:48 PM

Still pay is good. Do you expect a democrat to write her speech?? most of the materials in her speech is her own , not the speech writer. Let's face if " flies" . Bush is not running for the presidency, .... Mccain is,... and nobama has been a fart all he does is Bush this Bush that, nobama's a demogague he needs to face Mccain not Bush what has nobama done in the senate?? He ain't got balls to fight i was for nobama at first, the more i hear him the more i get disgusted , more taxes, put back up light on US defense, Nobama is comfy up there he doesn't know what it means to be in a war veteran. He'll be the first one to duck in a bunker hole and blame the generals

    • Posted By: love234america @ 09/04/2008 12:01:39 AM

Obama is a great speaker, too, from speaches written by the Democrats. Why did Obama not want to meet with McCain at town hall meetings? Because Obama is not a good decision maker and McCain would have made him look like a 5 year old. Obama is phoney.

  • Posted By: cakes1360 @ 09/04/2008 12:06:58 PM

Come on Dems, don't you know why Palin was selected? After three or four weeks of ruthless savagery by the limosine liberals and media elite, she will quietly be asked to fall on her sword and drop off the ticket. The right wing and its fellow travelers will have a new martyr. On November 4, they will come out of the woodwork to vote for the McCain/[insert experienced conservative here] ticket, and the Dems will look blankly at each other and say "Gosh, what just happened?" Yeah, those Republicans are just a bunch of simple-minded rubes. Dumb like foxes.

    • Posted By: brinder @ 09/04/2008 2:15:12 PM

Thanks for the comment. First new take is seen on blogs in a couple of days. I hope the public picks up on it and is ready to hold McBush accountable for such a ploy.

  • Posted By: Gallatinone @ 09/04/2008 2:14:05 PM

I have cancelled my Newsweek subscription. Newsweek is the magazine for Liberals. The articles regarding "Obama" are written thoughtfully, and creatively, ommiting much information in an attempt to make him look like a "god," which he is not. The passive aggressive attacks on McCain are not only un-American but undeserved.
Newsweek fails to point out, that Obama has not been able to choose/vote "yes or no" on at least 130 votes in his short time as a Senator from Illinois. He was however a "Community Organizer." He also wrote several books about "himself" and his "father," who was not a father at all.
Voting for a man, who seeks out approval from his deceased father, is not something I can do. I also cannot vote for someone because of their race, relgion, sexual orientation, or skin color.

My mother once told me that women are each others enemies. They fight with their mother-in-laws when they are married and then fight with their daughter-in-law when their sons are married. That begs the question - Am I an MCP(Male Chauvenist Pig)? Hell no!! I am a feminist and believe that without female cooperation, nothing can be done - at home or nationally. That said, this Palin pick is a slap on the face of feminism. Not that there are a lot of women who are commercial fisher-women or it's not that she defeated an incumbent republican Givernor. But show me one instance where she supported anything related to women's issues?

Show me once where she stood up against establishment to defend women's rights? Anyone???!!??
