That was a racist statement. I wish all of you would just come out and say you won't vote for Obama because he is a black man and America can get on with its business.

Palin is not qualified and you are so racist that you rather have an unqualified person in office just to keep a qualified black person from getting the job.

Well done Americans, you are showing the world just how racist "some" people of this country are.

I could care less if Obama is black. I don't care if he's covered in polka dots! I am so sick & tired of being labeled as racist just because I refuse to vote for Obama! Aren't you racist against women for saying that you don't like Palin? & what about being racist against McCain??? He's considered a "senior citizen". Does that make you a racist against the older generation? (which looks likes a double standard, since Biden is about the same age as McCain) Where does it end? How about you "put your big girl panties on & deal with it?" We don't like him because he's a liberal who believes in bigger government/higher taxes and abortion, NOT because he's black! (by the way, some of my best friends are black!)

No She Can't!! Just because you are a used puppet that mouth the words of your leader doesn't make you qualified!! DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!

SERVICE OF LAWSUIT CHALLENGING SENATOR OBAMA???S RIGHT TO BE A CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT BECAUSE HE DOES NOT MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS HAS BEEN COMPLETED

Is it something in the water, there at NW, or something you are smoking? "Star" power? Surely you jest. She is all fluff and no substance, a blip on the radar screen and a brief flash of errant lightning. She couldn't carry water for the likes of Barack. That would require brain power, sensitivity and compassion. She has yet to demonstrate that she possesses any of the three.

So.......Palin has 5 kids including one who is handicapped. This makes her a good candidate for the most powerful position in the world? McCain has a 10% chance of dying in office because of his age and a 27% chance because of his cancer history. You don't have to take my word for it, check the actuarial tables.

This is very scary. Guess who will be running the show when he dies and she takes over? More neo-cons from the bush years. They are already on the payroll, trying to teach her something now. They will again be in power and the USA is screwed. I wouldn't bet they put old McCain in this position and picked her because they intend to see him dead so they can have complete power. Think about it people: my daughter-in-law is more qualified to run the country and she has NO moral issues to deal with.

A natural??? She read a prepared speech. She was shrill and sounded juvenile... like a catty junior high school girl. Her speech was nothing but sarcasm, put-downs and lies. Let's evaluate Palin's potential AFTER she's been through the rigors of some one-on-one interviews and has made herself available to the major news programs. Gee, Jeremy... no one would notice you're in the tank for the GOP.

  • Posted By: labman57 @ 09/04/2008 6:29:04 PM

Her "holier-than-thou cuz God is on my side" act is already getting old. Her speech was long on smug, sarcastic, self-righteousness and short on substance. The notion that, as a publicly elected official, she doesn't give a crap what the voting American public thinks about her speaks volumes. Yet she has the audacity to call Obama an elitist. She needs to move past the carefully scripted and memorized talking points and show that she can think on her feet.

She needs to realize that the Bill of Rights belongs in Washington while the Bible belongs in the Church. Being able to blow the head off a moose with a semi-automatic rifle and rape the Alaskan wilderness of its natural resources does not qualify you to lead the nation. And don't tell the rest of the country that abstinence-only sex education is effective when you can't get it to work within your own family.

I am saddened by last nights performance. Common sense, kindness and character were no where to be seen. We teach our children to love unconditionally, be fair, be honest and treat others as you would want to be treated yourself. To me, my sons success is a bonus next to their values, morals, humanitarianism, and heart. They are good people. Talk politics..........talk issues honestly, be wise, and choose who is best to further our country in a more positive manner. Mudslinging, wisecracks, booing, and sarcasm shows little character, insecurity, and no class. Wise up, take notice, and educate yourself on the issues. That speaks volumes. I only want to hear, "Let the games begin....." at the start of the Olympics. Last night was an embarrasment to our country. When are we going to continue to build a foundation firm on who we are as Americans and serve, protect, and love our nation first!

The RNC 2008 was looking more like a funeral wake until they chose Palin. So it looks like the GOP is still racist. They actually think women are minorities. They have selective memory about Strom Thurman and his insistance to add women to the minity list because he hated black people so much. The GOP could've easily found a better candidate. Someone like Colin Powell or Condi Rice, but I guess they just hate black people.

Instead they found someone with a white trash eskimo background whose is a complete hyppocrite.
Bout' the only that will help the GOP this November is bombing Iran. Which is pretty sad that the GOP have to stoop so low these days to remain in office.

    • Posted By: one4all @ 09/04/2008 6:25:20 PM

To gopsuxDOTcom: Who are you to make comments about others being racist? Take a look in the mirror buddy. "Instead they found someone with a white trash eskimo background......" If that is not a racist comment then what is??? Oh, now you will reply to me and say that I am racist because I don't agree with you or your pick for president. Vote for whom you choose and let me do the same. Keep your racist comments to yourself.
      Thanks and Peace to all

My daughter is 9, is deaf and uses a cochlear implant. My co-worker who sits right next to me has a three year-old little boy with type 1 diabetes. On behalf of us both, Sarah Palin is not the type of "advocate" or role-model nonetheless, that we want representing us as parents of special needs children in the White House! Whatever happened to motivating and inspiring people to work together despite their differences; for the greater good? Her vicious attacks, condicending and bitter remarks are not going to take her very far and are certainly not appreciated as an example to our children....the true individuals that will have to deal with the reprecussions of decisions made by the next administration 10, 20 years down the road.

P.S. God forbid we have to endure another 4 years of the same Republican - Karl Rove rhetoric...but if we do I am sure Mrs. Palin will not be bidding away her private plane, chefs, and all of the other ammenities that come with the Vice Presidency; all of which are funded by tax payers dollars. Get a clue Palin..."lipstick wearing pitbull hockey moms" are not that endearing!

Okay. To all of you people that keep bringing up the Iraq war, listen to me CLOSELY. We should not leave Iraq, AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO LEAVE IRAQ. If you recall the huge democrat windfall in 2006 was based on "WE WILL END THE WAR". Guess what, that was 2 years ago and we are still there and the democrats have not done ONE THING to stop the war or get out (see, "Cindy Sheehan runs for office"). Guess why, cause that was a stupid thing for dems to say in the first place and only stupid people believed they would really do it. Guess what else, we are NEVER leaving Iraq. Wanna know why? Because Iraq has the second largest proven oil reserves in the world, second only to Saudi Arabia and only drops of it leave the country. Yes, second largest proven oil reserves in the world (some are now thinking they have twice as much as we originally thought) and Iraq doesn't even make the TOP 10 on a list of world exporters. Guess why? Because the EU had restrictions on Iraq exporting oil because some mad man (by the name of Saddam Hussein) was running the country as a maniacal (you may remember his invasion into Kuwait we had to send guys over for) brutal dictator. Now, we just spent 1 TRILLION DOLLARS and 4,000 lives of brave men and women to get him out and our forces on the ground there to stabilize the country and the region so we can ensure stable flows of oil. WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO LEAVE NOW? Do you think we should spend 1 trillion and 4000 lives and touch the temple in Bagdad and say, okay we made it, that was fun, lets go home? Is that what you mean by foreign policy expertise? (And don't say we shouldn't have spent 1 trillion and 4,000 lives in the first place, that is a mute point, it is already done and can't be undone, not even by leaving, and those are the facts the next president has to deal with. Whether it was right to do or not, we are now there. That is the starting point of any analysis.) (con't below)

Let me tell you something. If we weren't in Iraq now, a few things would be reality, first, oil would be at 250/barrel because Saddam would still be in power and there would be no hope of getting the oil there, like there is now. (see traders trade oil FUTURES. doesn't matter that the oil isn't flowing yet/right now, it is the EXPECTATION of what is going to happen in the future the steers prices. With expectations of more oil in the future, i.e. Saddam out and drilling contracts now being bid, prices go down stay lower. If there is less oil, or not more oil, in the future oil goes up) Gas would be 7 dollars in the States, at least, i.e. massive US recession/depression and global recession instantaneously. The UN on there knees in front of Saddam Hussein. Not that he is out, if we left Iraq now, Iran would invade and we'd have to go back and lose a ton of lives to stabalize agian and get Iran out. And yes, even if Obama wins, if we leave Iraq and Iran invades, he will go back in. He will have to. I'm sorry if you don't understand why but he would. Think oil, Middle East stabilty, our economy, world economy, etc. Al Quada in Iraq would move back in and the stability that now exists in the Middle East would disappear as the last US ship pulled away, and guess what, we'd be back to the 7 gas and 250 a barrel oil. We should never leave, and unless Iraq kicks us out, we will never leave. We have been in Japan and Germany since world war 2 ended, for over 60 years. Why would you want to leave Iraq? Why not scream about being in Germany and Japan? As long as Iraq lets us be there, we should stay. Obama wants to leave. He's way off. The good news is that if he wins, the smart guys with the calculators and economic forecasts will sit him down and explain to him, hey Obama, we cannot leave Iraq unless we are absolutely kicked out. Otherwise the world will go into chaos and a global economic recession and wars will break out all over the world. And he will get it and come out to the people and say, "I said all of our troops? Oh, I just meant the fighting guys. we're going to leave a bunch of non-fighting Army guys there for a little bit longer" until you forgot what he said in the first place, I.E. ALL TROOPS OUT IN 16 MONTHS. Because that he will soon learn that was a stupid thing to say. You'll see. He will come up with some explanation why military guys will be in Iraq with guns and bases through his presidency, if he wins. Remember, you read it here first. And stop talking about the joke that we are going to get out of Iraq.

      • Posted By: missconservative @ 09/04/2008 4:35:59 PM

Harleyishere was right about you. You ARE an idiot! Did you ever stop to think that the Iraqi people want us OUT?! And did you stop to think that extremist groups are picking up volunteers to blow themselves up because they want us OUT?! And did you stop to think that the longer we are in Iraq (an OCCUPATION is the derogatory term used by Iraqis), the more we incense the Muslim extremists to consider even more attacks? And did you stop to consider that while we spend billions of dollars a month to protect their country, they are pumping and selling oil - on a world market, mind you, not to us - they have millions of dollars in a budget surplus?! Never even mind the fact that the American public was lied to about Hussein having weapons of mass destruction, NONE of which has been found five years later while thousands of brave men and women have died. To make matters worse, Hussein had NOTHING to do with 9/11!!!! Then Bush stands there and says in a blase manner "Well, the world is a better place without him." What a narcissistic bastard!!!! Kim Jong Il in North Korea has TESTED nuclear weapons WE KNOW THEY HAVE and yet we don't want to invade their country. Do you really plan to take out all of the oil-producing countries to bring down the price of a barrel of oil? That will really go over well with the rest of the world. America may be strong on its own but we are no match for ten united nations against one. And a newsflash for you - just because our military is in the Middle East now DOES NOT mean Al Qaeda isn't planning something for our turf. We couldn't even protect our home borders should something catastrophic happen to us today. Our brilliant Commander-in-Chief has stretched the military too thin. And just to let you know, Congress can bring our troops home just as much as workers control how much money comes out of their paychecks. There's a reason why the President is called the Commander-in-Chief. He gives direct orders to the military, him and no one else. You must be posting comments to fit in with your fifth grade participation quota.

Okay, that???s funny from both of you. Talking about WMD. Here is the problem. None of that matters. I said point blank, we can???t leave, and we would have to go back, and oil will skyrocket if we leave. Neither of you addressed any of that. You went on to talking Democratic talking points. You also didn???t address the fact that the dems said we would leave if elected and we haven???t and they haven???t done ONE THING to get us out. They continue to approve a budget. Why? Of course because we have to stay. Then, from a person that calls me an idiot we get, ???We spend billions of dollars a month???. I won???t call you an idiot, because I am a republican and we don???t call names, we give facts to educate are democratic friends that are ignorant to them. The US consumes 26.59 MILLION barrels of oil A DAY, not a month. If the price of oil goes from 120 to 220, ie up $100 a barrel then we must spend an extra $2,059,000,000 more PER DAY, and yes, that is BILLION, 2 Billion dollars PER DAY. EVERY DAY. DO YOU GET IT YET? Iraqi???s want us to leave? Are you serious? Let me ask you this, if we are the only reason they are not being invaded right now for their oil, do you really think they want us to leave????? Are you serious? Would you??? No, they are blowing smoke to get leverage on us, because they know ignorant Americans will listen and they will have leverage in negotiations with us. I am not going to argue with someone who thinks a Billion a month is a lot compared to 2 Billion a day (just for help with the math, that???s 30 Billion a month every month). Let???s just leave it at that.

          Yours truly,
          The Idiot that can count

By the way, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has estimated the cost of occupation of Iraq: $1 billion to $4 billion per month. Again, I'll do the math for you that means we are SAVING $26- $29 BILLION DOLLARS A MONTH BY STAYING THERE. And yes, that is $312 to $348 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR. THINK WE ARE LEAVING NOW YOU IDIOT? (I'm sorry, I couldn't resist) You should do some of your thinking less with emotion and more with a pencil.

Speaking of MSNBC coverage, I thought it was astounding to hear the MSNBC commentators before the Palin speech saying that "only the tabloids" (or, in Chris Matthews's phrase "Safeway media") were reporting on Palin's daughter. I guess none of them bothered to watch the Today Show - Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday they were reporting on it to the exclusion of other news about the Republican ticket. NBC = tabloid media.

AMERICANS ARE ALL STUPID BECUASE THEY FOLLOW BLINDLY ANYONE WHO THROUGHS THEM LITTLE BITS OF WHAT THEY WANT TO HERE WITHOUT REALLY THINKING OF WHAT THEY ARE GETTING. KARL ROVE DID JUST THAT BY PLAYING ON PEOPLE'S HATREDS OF GAYS IN 2004 ELECTIONS AND THE REPUBLICANS WON.
I FEEL IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN BECAUSE A,MERICANS HAVEN'T CHANGED FOR THE BETTER BUTFOR THE WORST (AND DUMBER)

Maybe if the Democratic Party could put up better candidates (*John Kerry*), they wouldn't be so easy to beat. I actually thought it was very impressive, how Karl Rove said "Hate the Gays", and then a majority of Americans voted for George W. Bush. Who knew that winning an election was so easy?

  • Posted By: Adigalia4obama @ 09/04/2008 2:44:02 PM

Seriously, titles like "game on" and The GOP's Natural." After one speech? Her mean spirited rants, quick snappy come backs, and her comedic timming, brdige to no where that put the GOP convention in a fevered frenzied, with people crying and applauding. Oh please get real. Palin needs to come with it becuase bully ing the Democrats doesn't mean that you can bully the world into submission. Just ask your current president George W how the Nations of the World feel about him.
After that speech and the smoke cleard I wasn't impressed at all. I wanted to see an intellectual that was current on world events and with a clear vision and message for the Republican party and the world. What I got was a bully in designer eye glasses with empty words, none of which inspired a nation.

    • Posted By: careerdaytrader @ 09/04/2008 2:47:43 PM

Obama is NOT an intellectual! During a recession Economics 101 says you try to stimulate the economy and GROW your way out of it. Raising taxes is the LAST thing anybody with half a brain would do.

      Obama is a total DUMMY.

In the midst of a recession and his HUGE tax increases and deficit exploding new spending programs HOW IS HE GOING TO CREATE 5 MILLION NEW JOBS?

Not one dummy Democrat has answered that. Obama is the pied piper, leading all his idiot followers right off the cliff!

      • Posted By: missconservative @ 09/04/2008 5:15:25 PM

For your information, Obama plans tax CUTS for 95% of tax paying Americans. He also favors tax CUTS for businesses based in America who create American jobs. The remaining 5% of tax paying Americans will simply see their taxes raise back to the original rate after expiration of Bush's tax cuts. How is Obama raising taxes? If we could count on the 5% of Americans with the tax cuts now to stimulate the economy everything would be gravy. You know what also stimulates the economy? When 95% of the middle class has enough confidence to go out and spend their money. That's what keeps bars, restaurants, retailers, and everyone in between open - customers. That trickle-down effect fed to you by the Republicans sure has kept the economy growing since....Bush's term began. And for the record, oil companies have made record profits in the BILLIONS of dollars QUARTERLY and how strong are they keeping the economy? They have tax cuts now and spend their earnings buying back their own stock, therefore driving up the value of their stock. Who can afford to buy it now? If you're going to talk about Obama's tax plan, at least be honest about it.

      • Posted By: Adigalia4obama @ 09/04/2008 3:35:55 PM

Regarding Obama the pied piper, so what would you call George Bush leading the masses? and how does the GOP intend to get the country that Bush destroyed back on the track? If the current GOP candidate for President can't be in the same room with the current GOP president what does that tell you.
Get your facts then come back and debate me.

      • Posted By: Adigalia4obama @ 09/04/2008 3:17:22 PM

Please, she was full of bull and hot air. It's easy to to talk down to people, but to inspire them to greatness takes great intellect. I was compare her to Hillary. Hillary is classy and an intellectual. And if this my Hilary replacement, I want to send it back. She is not an intellectual just a bully in desinger glasses. She got to come with it. One speech doesn't tell me anything except that she is articulate and compared to George Bush.

    TRAILER TRASH

Republicans are the party of hate, and the fact that you admitted that you thought so, shows that you know that is just anger after hearing Republican rants.
You don't see that coming out of the Obama campaign. You do see the personal attacks and slander coming out of the McCain campaign, and out of Palin herself.
