_In her earlier career as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, Palin hired a lobbyist to help the tiny town secure at least 14 earmarks, worth $27 million between 2000-2003. McCain has touted Palin as a force in his long battle against earmarks.
_Under her leadership this year, Alaska asked for almost $300 per person in requests for pet projects from Stevens, one of McCain's top adversaries. That's more than any other state received, per person, from Congress.
_Her husband, Todd, twice registered as a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a fierce states' rights group that wants to turn all federal lands in Alaska back to the state. Sarah Palin herself never registered as a member of the party, according to state officials, though party members said she attended a 1994 convention with her husband.
_The head of the firm hired to defend Gov. Palin in a state ethics investigation was previously her family's lawyer and is permitted to bill the state up to $95,000 for work in the current case. It involves the dismissal of public safety commissioner Walt Monegan after he refused to fire a state trooper who had divorced the governor's sister.

All you so called conservatives can talk about is base ball?

Holyroller: get ready for a new President Barack Obama who is well educated and believes that creationism and intelligent design has no place in public schools. I do agree with Sarah on one thing...guns and I keep mine well oil, cocked and loaded! The last time I hunted in Alaska, I bagged a 1900 lbs bull moose which I nailed with a single head shot.

Hussein has a very near 0% chance of being elected POTUS. Looking more like Dukakis every day....excepy Dukakis had a much higher class of associations.

          NOBAMA!!!

I'm 71, McCain's 72. When the 3:00 phone calls it will be 3:00 PM and he'll be taking an afternoon nap. Ask anyone over 70. The Gov. will be breast feeding her spawn. Give the call to Nancy, she's next in line.

Palin's speech was great! I think she will be a great V.P. and I also think she will do just fine in a debate against Biden!

Saturday Night Live.....? That show is still on?

Do you cling to homosexuality and anti'religion?

  • Posted By: poligeek @ 09/04/2008 1:18:50 PM

If I hear one more crack about Palin delivering a 'prepared' speech written by 'others', I'll choke. Do you really think anybody (even the Dali Obama) writes his own speeches? And since she's a Christian Fundamentalist, she must be intolerant and irrational? Just replace "Christian Fundamentalist" with "Jew" or "Muslim" or even "Liberal" and see how it sounds...

I give Palin credit for reminding Democrats and Independents to vote DEMOCRAT on Nov 4th.

  • Posted By: oldjoe1938 @ 09/04/2008 1:18:25 PM

Sure missed the bee-hive hair-do. I'm sure we'll see it on Saturday Night Live.

4astrongamerica, yeah, I'm sure most minimum wage workers realize already that they're working for "free" (when they actually have jobs), lining the pockets of the rich, whom many are still waiting on to provide jobs instead of outsourcing them. Too bad those very rich you Repubs want to protect want to be even RICHER, and the bottom line is never enough so they outsource to make even bigger profits. Because we all know that America is stronger when unemployment is up, poverty is greater, we're borrowing from communist nations, and corporations are receving billion dollar quarters, with CEO who retire with 8-9 figure million dollar retirement golden parachute pakages! Yeah, Reagan "trickle down" is working out great, now that "W" returned us to it, reversing everything that Bill Clinton accomplished. Just so long as we keep out that socialist European welfare state. Yahoo!

Comment: Here's what Ms. Palin said in her emails that "didn't" prove she tried to get her sister's ex fired.

"This trooper is still out on the street, in fact he's been promoted," said a Feb. 7, 2007, e-mail sent from Palin's personal Yahoo account.

It's damning but falls in line with her little Alaskan soap opera.

PALIN, A FOOT SOLDIER IN KARL ROVE'S DARK ARMY

After the big speech, what next? And does it (should it) matter? Palin has not answered specifically to many allegations or scandals swirling around her nor has she addressed any of the real issues of this campaign. Instead, she comes blazing with negative attacks and pleading that she be considered fit for the job simply because she is a woman who is your ???average hockey mom.??? With that any woman can be Vice-President or even President. Left behind in this calculation are women who are truly qualified for the job???K. Baily Hutchinson, for example, on the Republican side! To add insult to injury in this gamble, Palin felt able to compare her competency and background with that of Obama--a Harvard-educated lawyer chosen by his Party (not by one man) who served eight years in the Illinois Senate, is serving in the Senate as a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, has managed a very successful campaign and is received enthusiastically within the United States and around the world. I can't believe it. The only way Palin is better than Obama is gutter talk! Because Palin delivered a good speech written for her by Bush-Rove divisive dark operators, that suddenly eliminates the concern we should all have about her qualification to be a potential Commander-in-Chief? If the media caves with feelings of guilt, we are done as a democracy and the most powerful nation on earth. At its best, the media stands as a sentinel of freedom. This campaign should be about facts (see the AP fact check on the RNC, Sep. 4/08), truth and issues, not personalities and personal attack. An uneducated electorate wielding a vote is a danger to democracy. That is why we have often elected the wrong people, for the wrong reasons and times. Dr. Sam

If we leave everything to Obama, our country will be run by foreigners and we will be at the mercy of foreign countries. Obama may have a degree that shows he's book smart and knows how to be an effective studier, but what real experience does he have?
Palin is a true down-to-earth American who came from a hardworking family with strong fundamental American values, the things that have been most forgotten about. Obama is all about being famous and puts on a good show, but does he really care about this company?
McCain may have been 5th in his class, BUT he served and was a POW, what has Obama done?

      • Posted By: neos @ 09/04/2008 1:13:25 PM

Correction: McCain wasn't fifth in his class, but fifth from the bottom in a class of 899!

  • Posted By: ratenlodev9788 @ 09/04/2008 12:30:32 PM

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT THE REPUBLICANS WOULD SAY IF PALIN WAS A DEMOCRAT OR PERHAPS BLACK AND HER DAUGHTER WAS IN THE SAME SITUATION. THEY WOULD CALL HER WHORE, SLUT AND EVERY NAME IN THE BOOK. IT JUST SHOWS HOW HYPOCRITICAL THEY ARE. UNFORTUNATELY MANY IN AMERICA SEE HER AS A SWEET WOMAN WHOM THEY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE OVER FOR DINNER. WELL THEY SAID THAT ABOUT BUSH, WHO THEY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A BEER WITH HIM, YEAH AND LOOK WHERE THAT GOT US. BESIDES IF YOU WENT TO A BAR, ARE YOU SURE THAT YOU WOULD WANT ANY OF THE PEOPLE IN THERE AS THE PRESIDENT, PROBABLY NOT.
I DO HOPE THE DEMOCRATS HAVE A WAY TO FIGHT PALIN AND MCCCAIN BUT I'M SURE THE DEMOCRATS WILL LOSE LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO.

OH WELL I GUESS ITS FOUR MORE YEARS OF MISERY.

The fact that you can interject race into this situation and get away with it is appalling. Unfortunately, teenage pregnancy occurs all too often in our society. Being an unwed teenage mother myself years ago, I can tell you that no one ever asked for my family's political affiliation and it didn't matter that I was white. Pregnant teenage girls from all walks of life face tremendous criticism, hateful comments, and are condemned to a life of failure & poverty by many in our society. I can tell you from experience that having the love and support of your family in this difficult time makes all the difference. I applaud this young girl and her fiance' for being responsible for their actions and standing together to get through this. The sad thing is that if she had just had an abortion, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Young people that get pregnant and have abortions certainly aren't any more moral and upstanding - they can just avoid the stigma, act like it never happened and never have to be responsible for their actions. Doing the right thing - even when it's difficult is a sign of good character. This couple has it. Maybe some other young men should take notice.

Washington is a mess after 8 years of republican control...so....uh....Vote Republican!

    • Posted By: bdhotwheel @ 09/04/2008 1:11:55 PM

Blame it on the Reps. Duh, there are Democratic senators at fault also!

  • Posted By: polyscimom @ 09/04/2008 12:08:33 PM

A couple of random thoughts - regarding Sarah Palin's assertion that Obama's community experience is not relevant, I think that getting people to work for you for free, as in all the volunteers Obama has rallied, speaks volumes to his leadership abilities. I fully agree that a woman can run this country . Unfortunately, Sarah Palin is the wrong woman advocating the wrong policies. How's that abstinence-only sex education program working out for you, Sarah?

    • Posted By: bdhotwheel @ 09/04/2008 1:04:30 PM

Yeah and Obama wants to pass out condoms and birth control to little elementary school children to promote having sex. Better yet, lets throw in the homosexual agenda in schools and teach our kids how to be swingers and have homo orgies! You liberal Democrats are truly uneducated with your irrational agendas.

      • Posted By: dsqard @ 09/04/2008 1:11:54 PM

        Abstinence apparently DOES NOT WORK!!!!

    • Posted By: 4astrongamerica @ 09/04/2008 12:32:36 PM

In the real world, people don't work for free. We have to create good paying jobs with benefits. If you work too long for free, you will be in the welfare line being supported by my tax dollars.

You trust talk radio? Thats like trusting the MSM! You can't believe everything you read or hear!

  • Posted By: dad4486 @ 09/04/2008 12:49:27 PM

Wow are all democrats as scared of Palin as you folks? Did you think that the world was going to bow to a candidate that could barely win outside the caucuses? Maaybe he will get lucky again and Mccain will withdraw a few weeks before the election so he can win another post by default. However till then rock on hockey mom.
