I don't believe she can even come close to Obama. I watched last night and was left with disappointment and disgust. Last night was typical Republican blah, blah. In my opinion they spent way too much time trying to deface or degrade Obama/Biden, and not enough time talking about their platform of change for this country. (If they really have one)

    • Posted By: bdhotwheel @ 09/04/2008 1:09:02 PM

Let's face it, you are going to vote Democrat even if Daffy Duck was running for your party. Does it really matter to you that they unveil their plans to an unbeliever like yourself?

  • Posted By: oldjoe1938 @ 09/04/2008 1:07:49 PM

Sorry about the typo. He keeps the bitch CHAINED.

Based on the crowd at the RNC, they are definitely come off as being a party of white supremacists. I know Republicans who are not racist, but they are certainly out of touch on every important issue. Palin is a joke, the GOP is a joke, and their only goal is to continue the failed policies of George W. Bush. He has been a disgrace, and McCain and Palin will follow in his footsteps if elected.

Thank God for Obama and Biden.

    YES WE CAN!!!

Obama will fall on his face and Democrats will be eating their decision on change when the tax man comes knocking at your door and companies start bailing out even more to other countries because they don't want to pay higher taxes. When it comes time for your raise, your boss will raise his middle finger and say...sorry I have to pay more taxes thanks to your President!

  • Posted By: Atlantagirl37 @ 09/04/2008 1:05:13 PM

No candidates are ever perfect, they never have been. Because there are no perfect people in this world. Its not a popularity contest it's about who can actually deliver positive change, and if I have to make a decision on that, then I have to look at who has already delivered and proven themselves to be fighters for this country and that is McCain and Palin. Definitely not Obama! I think Hillary is in it just to stay in the lime light, its what she's been doing for years.

The Governor told the audience that someone asked her what the difference between a "Hockey Mom" and a Pit Bull was and she answered "Lipstick". I don't know anything about Hockey but a friend of mine has a female Pit Bull and he keeps the bitch chined in a high-fenced area, it's the law where he lives.

Governors don't do their work "in session." That's what a legislator does. Governors "run" the state. A governor doesn't just push a button to cast a vote. They have, essentially, a company to run.
I'd place Palin's experience next to the community organizer (whatever that is) anyday.

    • Posted By: lets_talk_politics @ 09/04/2008 1:03:41 PM

Actually a community organizer works for the little people and middle class Americans like myself, ensuring women rights, human rights etc. but I dont expect you to know that, you are the MIGHTY REPUBLICAN. How many of you guys are Community Organizers, oh yeah None.

    • Posted By: AK Citizen @ 09/04/2008 1:03:39 PM

Or in Obama's case push the button marked "present".

  • Posted By: DanTampa @ 09/04/2008 1:00:44 PM

I guess I am slightly confused with her position, especially family values. So,we are to believe abstinence is the best deterrent with just about anything. Forget about actually educating our kids with the real facts and consequences of their actions. Forget about unsafe sex and STD's that are potentially death sentences to everyone involved. Better yet, forget about adults having sex with minors. I guess the rules in Alaska are a tad different than most other places.

    • Posted By: Jack 8590 @ 09/04/2008 1:03:01 PM

Hey Dan - Palin's policy is "teach religion in schools, not sex education." She is all for teaching abstinence. Ironic, eh?

To tell you the truth, as a person who lives in Illinois, give me McCain/Palin any day. I've seen enough of Democratic politics over the years, but it's really bad recently. In-fighting between Democratic leaders, a Governor who ain't worth a crap, the Cook County chairman hiring a bunch of un-qualified friends and relatives at ridiculous salaries (read the Chicago Tribune), the highest sales tax in the nation, the Senate President who retires at just the right tiime to have his son take his place on the ballot, without input from the people, only the party hacks . . shall I go on? This is where Obama comes from and this is what he'll bring to Washington - dirty, deceitful, machine politics. Of the two Democrats, only Joe Biden has my respect. Of the two Republicans, McCain has certainly earned it. Palin may or may not.

  • Posted By: Mom's for real issues @ 09/04/2008 12:09:06 PM

I am a hockey mom too but Palin does nothing for me. She was put there because she's a woman. And that makes me angry. Karl Rove said it himself that Tom Kaine wasn't right because he was mayor of a small city (Richmond VA pop. 200,000), governor of a small state, Virgina population 7 million. Hmmmm, tell me the difference Karl? Palin's town was smaller and her state is a whole lot smaller! And when I hear executive experience I think George W. Bush. You know all that executive experience he had. Andis sold me what do you not like about Obama's story. He did what all you republicans want, he pulled himself up by is bootstraps. Got a great education (because he earned it) gave to community, earned a spot in the state government, brought health care and eithics reform, earned a spot in the us senate. He earned his nomination with over 18 million votes. He gave a speech awhile back about the economy and th. He didn't just talk about what we need to do now he went through the last century about what our government has done throughout our history dealing with economic issues. What worked then, but not now, what was changed and why? It showed the remarkable understanding he has of economics and history. Have we not learned our lesson on how important it is to understand ones history to move forward. And then foreign affairs? What makes McCain such a experts. Yes, he served and I respect that, but when it comes to Russia NOW and Iran NOW I do not believe his maverick judgement is what we need. I do not care about her daughters pregnancy, her daughters lucky, she probably will get to live at home and finish school and be taken care of. By the way what happened to that boyfriends Facebook page? If you do not want the media to focus on the family why bring Levi to St. Paul? By the way what books did she want yanked from the library shelves.

    • Posted By: bdhotwheel @ 09/04/2008 1:02:01 PM

She wants the Adam and Steve book collection out of the library! I agree, why are we polluting our children with this filth. Oh I forgot that is the Liberal Democratic Party way. Keep on singing your favorite George Michael song "I Want Your Sex" or is it "YMCA" by the Village People?

  • Posted By: ike2000 @ 09/04/2008 11:18:14 AM

Sadly, the presidential race has been reduced to a bunt of "Ya Mama" mockery. Ya mama is so fat, she can't see her toes! That in a nutshell, is the summation of the half-backed and frenzied tonguing, leashed out by that walmart-manager, Sarah Palin.

In due respect, I will grade her speech to be one-notch better than a middle-school valedictorian. Her off-pitch lacking was rambling with less substance with a delivery that was designed for the comatose convention.

On stage was Americas new role-model - a five-month pregnant teenager, with her junky stuffed 18 year old fornicator - an unmarried person, male or female, who has criminal intercourse with the other sex - that's waht the dictionary says. I take it is OKAY for teenagers to be pregnant, their parents, proud of such audacious and poignant behavior? Don't tell me it is wrong to discuss this, it clearly smacks at the poor family value which Sarah professes to champion. Had the shoes been on the other leg, the response would not have been as muted - that right-wing has successfully ramboed the media into a shut-up stance. Britney Spears little sister committed the same sin, and was the subject of ridicule in the media. Had that been Obama's daughter, the coverage would have eclipsed that of Rev. Wright!

    • Posted By: akansan @ 09/04/2008 11:28:25 AM

Sorry - pregnant teens are not the result of only poor family values. Society does have a role in the rise of teenage pregnancies, and safe sex does not equal no teenage pregnancies. I've lived in a small town where 12 girls were pregnant in the high school. Not sound like much? The high school only had 130 students. How many of those girls were raised in high value homes? At least two, including my sister. I certainly don't blame my parents for my sister's pregnancy, as she received all the same teachings the other three of us did. And believe it or not, she was using protection. Really.

So, no. I don't think we can hold her underage daughter against her. And yes, I think it is terrific that they are still a supportive family despite her daughter's pregnancy. What did you expect? They'd hide the pregnant daughter? Then what would you say?

      • Posted By: ike2000 @ 09/04/2008 11:53:20 AM

On display last night, was a picture of WalMart-Sarah's WhiteHouse. A bunch of trailer-house buck-teeth junkies, speaking in twang. And only, reminiscence of a Jerry Springer show. Is this what America has dissolved into? Where is etiquette and the flare that America enviously emulate? Can you imagine what kind of fistfight would result from Bristol's birthday party, if her ex-boyfriend jumps into the mix? Wow! ONLY IN AMERICA@!

You failed to answer the question. I take then, it is glamorous for teens to become pregnant and every parent should be proud of that fact and display them in the public space. Lets call a spade, a spade!

        • Posted By: akansan @ 09/04/2008 1:01:44 PM

Sorry, I felt I did answer the question. Being supportive of your daughter is completely different than glamorizing teenage pregnancy. Never was it said that they were PROUD their daughter was pregnant. There is a great difference. You have heard of the word tolerance, right? And then there's the idea "love the sinner, hate the sin".... If the rest of her family joined her onstage except her pregnant daughter, the story would be that it was an attempt at out-of-sight, out-of-mind.

Trailer-trash. Interesting. That was a helpful comment you posted. Thanks again.

        • Posted By: Texas-conservative @ 09/04/2008 12:59:59 PM

Well, to answer your venom-filled post, yes, it is proper to support and respect your family members. And as a parent, it is especially important. What, do you expect Palin to hide her family from the world simply because her daugter, like hundreds of thousands of other daughters before her, got pregnant as a teenager?

You're wal-mart, trailer trash, buck teeth comment is truly disturbing and elitist. Are the people you refer to less than human for you to assert some kind of superiority over.

Yeah, you dems keep claiming to be the compassionate party of the people....but the truth comes out when you disrespect an enormous segment of our American population. Yes, people that live in mobile homes, shop at wal-mart, and the ones that have dental problems, are all Americans, most are hard-working, have families, children, parents, feelings. Most of the people you cast dispersions on are not corrupt or immoral, and any one of them could be president of this great and free democratic country we live in.
Come one down from your plateau and join the human race.

    • Posted By: Texas-conservative @ 09/04/2008 11:44:56 AM

So you favor castrating or imprisoning your child if he/she follows natural human behavior and has sex before the age of 18? How is palin supposed to treat her daughter? Kick her out of the house?
      Where's the compassion?

I hate to break it to you, but according to statistics, most people have premarital sex now, and 1/3 have sex before they reach 18 years old.

Fewer than half of all 9-12th grade students report having had
sexual intercourse, reflecting a decline during the last decade
from 53 percent in 1993 to 47 percent in 2003. Males are more
likely than females to report having had sexual intercourse.

Oh, and Britney Spears' sister wouldn't have garnered as much media attention if Britney herself hadn't been on such a disasterous course herself (custody battle, missing court dates, etc).

Just heard on talk radio that the actual in-session time of government in Alaska is 60 days a year. This gives experience?

    • Posted By: AK Citizen @ 09/04/2008 1:01:22 PM

That's the lesgislative session, not what the Governor works. In other words that's what Obama has worked when he was in state senate and he's qualified?

    • Posted By: neocon @ 09/04/2008 12:56:38 PM

      60 days more than Barry!

  • Posted By: josemarti @ 09/04/2008 12:34:38 PM

Did you see Palin last night Barry? That is no lady, Barry. That is Marc Messier in a dress. Do you know who Marc Messier is Barry? Probably not. Sakic? What about Mario Lemieux? Ever been to a hockey game Barry? Probably not.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 09/04/2008 1:00:48 PM

I went to an Atlanta Flames hockey game years ago. I went to sleep. Might have been the beer. Georgia Bulldog Football is more my game.....Sarah would make a great JunkYard Dawg...."we're gonna let the BullDawg bite."

GOD is still in control of this great nation. Sarah Palin is evidence of this fact.

A mohammed in the White House??? GOD forbid...and HE has....

      NOBAMA!!!

THE TRUTH IS: THERE IS NO ONE LIKE HILLARY & BILL CLINTON AT ALL.
At least McCain is less "machista" than Barack. If McCain/Palin win, well deserved for the media, all the politicians and the rich, VERY SAD for us the poor and the middle class. It will simply be 4 more years of the same horrendous present administration.

It is so pathetic to hear all the far right republican media, Wolfe Blitzer, Campbell Brown, Mathews, etc.
expressing how fascinating, interesting, charming, etc. etc. Palin is. What about Hillary? All the media did and does is to trash Hillary and Bill. I know the rich and far right republicans pay their salaries, but there
should be some self esteem, dignity and professional ethics. McCain, Palin & republicans all they do is to trash Obama, the same way that the media and democratic candidates did to Hillary.

CONGRATULATIONS JAMES CARVILL!!! for being so honest, straight forward and loyal to the Clintons and to the democratic party, without being vicious about it.

    Excerpt from a Q & A on the "Straight talk express";

Q: ???So no contraception, no counseling on contraception. Just abstinence. Do you think contraceptives help stop the spread of HIV????

McCain: (Long pause) ???You've stumped me.???

Q: ???I mean, I think you'd probably agree it probably does help stop it????

McCain: (Laughs) ???Are we on the Straight Talk Express? I'm not informed enough on it. Let me find out. You know, I'm sure I've taken a position on it on the past. I have to find out what my position was. Brian, would you find out what my position is on contraception ??? I'm sure I'm opposed to government spending on it, I'm sure I support the president's policies on it.???

I think..... i ....... i'll have to get back to you. It's time for my nap!

A sarcastic woman who's able to talk trash with the good old boys - now that's something to be proud of. To add shine to the aforementioned pride thing, it's been my experience that the need to tear someone down personally is a small-minded person's way of trying to make herself look big. Instead, she's just a small-minded person that has no business dealing with the larger problems of this world.

I am truly surprised that in 2008, there are still people - men and women - who discriminate based on gender. When has a man ever been asked if he can handle his family and the vice presdiency or presidency simultaneously. NEVER. Get over yourselves, Palin haters. She is smart, strong and going to kick some Obama/Biden butt.

    • Posted By: RiversideWarrior @ 09/04/2008 12:59:04 PM

its funny that you mention gender discrimination when mentioning Palin, she OPPOSES gender equirt of equal pay for equal work performed by men or women. How can that be justified? Because "god" says so?!?? Down with the American Taliban!!!!

    • Posted By: tlmj2003 @ 09/04/2008 11:19:32 AM

Yes she's smart and strong that's all she is but given anything happens to McCain do you honestly believe she is capable to run this country and I'm a woman too. It has nothing to do with gender she read a speech that some parts she's has no knowledge of. Be foreal with yourself and no ones hating on her for what she's a cheerleader for the Repubican party that's all a joke it was all of this is. Go Obama/Biden and kick butt!!!

I thought it was sophomoric at best. I may have considered McCain before but now I won't hesitate to vote for Obama.. that woman is the last person I would want "a heartbeat away" from the presidency. Not only was the speech lacking in substance and high on childish jabs, but her stances on issues are so far right wing it makes my head spin. It seems the "independent" mind of McCain just bent to the right wing voters and gave them the VP they want.. not the one he would want or the one that would be best for our country. I don???t want a president in office who will just listen to the polls and make rash decisions as a result. Nor do I want a VP who believes what Palin does and who lowers herself to take cheap and untrue shots. It was utterly disappointing.

  • Posted By: RiversideWarrior @ 09/04/2008 12:09:36 PM

She struck me as an arrogant, cocky and self-righteous Christian Fundamentalist, something the kooks and crooks crowd that rules the Republican party for the last 8 years frequently has put on display. I look forward to the time when she will have to defend her positions on the accumulating debt and death of the last 8 years, being anti-choice, anti-contraception (something that apparently might have helped her 17 yr. old daughter rather than preaching "abstinence") and anti-equal pay for equal work between men and women. I relish the prospect of voters getting to know her position in these important areas rather than her being the PTA president of Wasilla City.

Biden and Obama strike me as fake... tell me what I want to hear...but cannot walk the talk typical liberal polititians.
