I thought her speech was very shrill and had a nasty tone! She was a major turn off to me and I am an independent voter. I guess I will look to Obama in Nov. She actually reminded me of a right wing Roseanne Barr !! Very Scary !! Oh and she had no plan for getting our great nation out of rut we are currently in ,Not a good sign either!

Welcome to the New Dumb folks. . . The GOP is coming apart and they have nothing to say but , "stop using our own dirty tricks on us -- it's not fair!" Priceless.

I think they along with Sarah Palin have a lot to say; open your ears. More drilling, more energy exploration, less taxes, less government...and as for McCain, a proven track record of accomplishments and bipartisan spirit.

    ABOUT SARAH PALIN

I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992. Everyone here knows Sarah, so it is nothing special to say we are on a first-name basis. Our children have attended the same schools. Her father was my child's favorite substitute teacher. I also am on a first name basis with her parents and mother-in-law. I attended more City Council meetings during her administration than about 99% of the residents of the city.

    CLAIM VS FACT

*"Hockey mom": true for a few years

*"PTA mom": true years ago when her first-born was in elementary school, not since

    *"NRA supporter": absolutely true

*social conservative: mixed. Opposes gay marriage, BUT vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships (said she did this because it was unconstitutional) .

*pro-creationism: mixed. Supports it, BUT did nothing as Governor to promote it.

*"Pro-life": mixed. Knowingly gave birth to a Down's syndrome baby BUT declined to call a special legislative session on some pro-life legislation

*"Experienced": Some high schools have more students than Wasilla has residents. Many cities have more residents than the state of Alaska. No legislative experience other than City Council. Little hands-on supervisory or managerial experience; needed help of a city administrator to run town of about 5,000.

    *political maverick: not at all

    *gutsy: absolutely!

*open & transparent: ??? Good at keeping secrets. Not good at explaining actions.

*has a developed philosophy of public policy: no

*"a Greenie": no. Turned Wasilla into a wasteland of big box stores and disconnected parking lots. Is pro- drilling off-shore and in ANWR.

*fiscal conservative: not by my definition!

*pro-infrastructure: No. Promoted a sports complex and park in a city without a sewage treatment plant or storm drainage system. Built streets to early 20th century standards.

*pro-tax relief: Lowered taxes for businesses, increased tax burden on residents

*pro-small government: No. Oversaw greatest expansion of city government in Wasilla's history.

*pro-labor/pro- union. No. Just because her husband works union doesn't make her pro-labor. I have seen nothing to support any claim that she is pro-labor/pro- union.

Barack Obama: The Jr. Senator Has a Track Record in Washington, Beyond Palin's Bush Writer's Podium Speech, would like for You to Believe ....

    109th Congress

Obama took an active role in the Senate's drive for improved border security and immigration reform. In 2005, he cosponsored the "Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act" introduced by Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

He later added three amendments to the "Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act", which passed the Senate in May 2006, but failed to gain majority support in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In September 2006, Obama supported a related bill, the Secure Fence Act, authorizing construction of fencing and other security improvements along the United States???Mexico border.

President Bush signed the Secure Fence Act into law in October 2006, calling it "an important step toward immigration reform."

Senate bill sponsors Tom Coburn (R-OK) and Obama discuss the Coburn-Obama Transparency Act.

Partnering first with Sen. Dick Lugar (R-IN), and then with Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK), Obama successfully introduced two initiatives bearing his name. "Lugar-Obama" expands the Nunn-Lugar cooperative threat reduction concept to conventional weapons, including shoulder-fired missiles and anti-personnel mines.

The Lugar-Obama initiative subsequently received $48 million in funding.

The "Coburn-Obama Transparency Act" provides for the web site USAspending.gov, managed by the Office of Management and Budget. The site lists all organizations receiving Federal funds from 2007 onward and provides breakdowns by the agency allocating the funds, the dollar amount given, and the purpose of the grant or contract.

In December 2006, President Bush signed into law the "Democratic Republic of the Congo Relief, Security, and Democracy Promotion Act," marking the first federal legislation to be enacted with Obama as its primary sponsor.

OK, I want to know this: why did everyone in both McCain's and Palin's families look so messy? On the tarmack they all looked like crap, something the dog dragged in. They cleaned up a little for the Convention Hall but still looked common. And what's up with that very strange green dress Cindy McCain wore? Looked belted in front and loose in the back Very weird. Probably very expensive but weird. She sure looks strained all the time.

I think she was wonderful. refreshing in a political sense. And for those dems I am reading your boy is sorely lacking in experience get over it she is GOOD!

    • Posted By: vmarsha @ 09/04/2008 7:25:34 PM

She's not even close to being wonderful. Is this the type of example we want our daughters to see as representative of our country. This woman doesn't believe in sex education in schools because parents should teach those things at home. Hello. How does she expect the country to take her advice when she doesn't heed it herself.

      • Posted By: openmindedandlistening @ 09/04/2008 8:20:23 PM

Are you a part of Palin's family? Do you know that she never had a discussion with her daughter about safe sex practices? Did she disclose that information to you alone? Wow...I cannot believe how many people are blaming Palin for her daughter's possibly regretable mistake. Have you so quickly forgotten what it was like to be a 17 year old? I can recall from my younger days, that the many discussions my parents had with me as a teenager didn't set in until much later in life. I guess I was just lucky enough that the consequences I faced were much smaller ones (Damn, a hangover hurts...) How can anyone say that if Palin can't control her kids, how can she control a nation? How many other young mothers are there in the country? The US only has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the world. Do we look down on all of them as "slutty teens"? Do we judge their mothers and fathers of failing as parents? If so, we have a lot of parents that just can't manage their kids. We must have a country full of terrible parents, who never had a sex talk with their children. And although there are schools throughout the nation that teach safe sex practices, teenage girls (and guys, for that matter) are still going to make mistakes, some of them having much heavier consequences than others. If Palin did not have a teenage daughter that was pregnant, most would just find something else to attack about her. Everyone keeps praising how happy and perfect Obama's family is, and while that may certaintly be true, no one can ever know what happens behind a family's closed doors. Possibly, for Obama, his familial problems are not so obvious. Listen, why can't we just give Palin's daughter a break? She will no doubtly realize the consequences of her actions very soon, without the media and people of America having to belittle her everyday. I think we should support her decision. Most teenage mothers who have supportive families, teachers, and others have a greater likelyhood of finishing school, going to college, and providing a better life for thier child. So, can't we just argue about things we should be discussing. Oh... maybe the parties different views about the economy, the war, the price of gasoline, the failing housing market, taxes, energy issues, or maybe about how each ticket will handle our relations with other leaders and countries. Or could that possibly mean listening too much to exactly what each ticket has to say on these matters? Or actually reading something other then People or Us Weekly? Or actually researching which party you agree with based on their polices and practices? If you can make your presidential vote based soley off the fact that the Rep VP nominee has a pregnant teenage daughter, we unfortunately have some very closed minded and lazy american voters

    Palin has said...

"The War In Iraq is for Oil"

"The War in Iraq, is for Natural Resources"

She also said that she "Like or Agreed with Sen. Obama's Energy Plan"

She also Thanked Obama for the "Stimulus Checks The Alaskan People and Americans Recieved this Summer, Because the Alaskan People were really being hit hard by the High Price of Gas and other Expenses"

How is this Witch going to be able to AVOID these Contradictions...How in the He!! will she be able to dance around her own Words !!!!

She was for the so called Bridge to Nowhere, until it was politically expediant to be Against it.

The People of Alaska surely did not feel that way and are Pissed at Palin for demeaning their Towns People !!!

I love how dismissive the far left was of Palin - NOW you are just in denial. Don't worry this election is going to be a proper fight and you guys are going to regret nominating Obama in the end. IN 2012 - you'll STILL be compaigning against George W. Bush.

I ran around for 20 years making sure my daughter had my moral support and am proud of her for making the right choices. How can I trust someone who has obviously put her children second to her personal agenda and ego. No way McCain.

What I find offensive is how the people that John McCain and Sarah Palin wants to attract they view as small town, blue collar, gun toting, and a few other choice words group of people that can't see what has been going on for the last eight years and that if you give them an ear full of how to insult others and they rave over it, then we can sell them a bridge to nowhere and they will come out in groves to buy. Why do they think they can insult the American people to ignore what is going on with their lives and to give their lives then and their only message is to try to ridicule others. I don't know about other Americans but my children gets a time out when they are been mean and nasty to others. In the Democrat convention, each speaker compared issues to issues. I don't remember hearing insulting comments about any Republican just their views of how to resolve issues to Republicans views to resolve issues. I guess somewhere down the line their mothers did not teach them any manners or how to be good citizens.

Senator Obama again tried to control the spread of Clinging to Bibles and Guns Syndrome. "Please stop clinging to your Bibles and guns. Just say no." He suggested that bitter Americans find some other way of comforting themselves. "Marx said that religion is the opium of the people. Why don't you just try the real thing. As a result of the Bush administration's Iraq policy, the price of heroin has declined dramatically"

OK. She did a good job delivering a speech written by others to a receptive audience. That TV sports reporting paid off. But, what about her June talk to the graduating group from her childhood church? Have you watched the video? I didn't hear a very articulate speaker there ("cool"). Her message made me uncomfortable.

In a town of 7,000+ how could you not keep track of your child ? where were you when she most needed your sympathetic ear? No personal agenda can overpower your duty as a mother. Shame on you Sarah and shame on you McCain.

Hey Americans. Come to Chicago and ride through the communities that were organized by that great community organizer Barack Obama and that have cast their lot with the Democratic Party. 50% increase in murder rate. Not just the crime rate. The murder rate. Children being gunned down left and right by gangs. A castrated police force. Horrible schools. Children bused on the first day of school to suburbs in order to protest the abysmal qualitiy of their education. Come to Chicago. Guess where the lake front liberals who have been bank rolling his campaign send their children to school? Yep. Private schools that cost 25,000 a year in tuition alone. Come to Chicago. Or if you can't travel check out the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times web site.

The real sad thing is, that I used to love McCain circa 2000. Forget the POW crap -- we all know it, we all respect it, now get over yourselves. It was the fact that he DID stand up then and was a prickly thorne in the side of the Bush administration. Now he's just a punk who , after all the dirty tricks and lies the Bush-Rove team brought down on him, he goes and hires Rove himself. He's old and in the way now.

Who will it be Americans? An American original or a "citizen of the world." A man who believes in the power of free enterprise or a man who believes in the power of government? A woman who has always loved her country or a woman who had never been proud of hers. A man that we can be proud of calling our Commander in Chief or a man who will make us squirm everytime he steps on the hallowed ground of Arlington, Normandy, and Ground Zero. A man who grew up drinking the pure water of Franklin, Hamilton, Adams, Lincoln, Roosevel or a man who grew up drinking the poison of Malcolm X, Garvey, Carmichael, Marcuse, Marx, DuBois, Sartre, and Ellison. Who will it be? A woman from the American frontier or a woman who is a flunkey for a University of Chicago Hospitals intent on using her to shield itself from the
legitimate rage of a minority community that it will not serve. Who?

No my friend. We have barely begun to unmask Obama. And we will it do it systematically using his own words (spoken and written). By the end of the day, Ayers, Reverend Wright, liberation theology, Malcolm X, Father Pflagel, Trinity Church. Tony Resko, Chicago politics, Minister Farrhakan, Ellison, "beyond my pay grade", Garvey, Carmichael, Fanon, Marcuse, lake front liberals, clinging to religions and guns, radicalism will so familiar to Americans and will be so intrinsically associated with Obama that he will have trouble finding a Democrat to appear with at a campaing rally.
