For being almost recalled (impeached) as mayor for being a bully, the vetting process should have picked it up.

How can one guy be a Maverick regarding earmarks -after being the King of earmarks, then insult his VP choice for her big share of earmarks?

In reading many of these posts, it is clear that Obama's supporters are worried about Palin----welll-----YOU SHOULD BE! People are going to continue to try to throw stones her way but after seeing her last night, I am TOTALLY confident that she can handle it and will throw stones of her own!

    Go Sarah!

Exactly what she needs to do. Start bringing up Obama's BS everytime they ask a question. Reply well did you ever get an answer from Obama about ............

She sure won't bring up email.

Wasn't that on page 17 of the RNC things to say hand-out? That and she really, really really does have experience? Dems are scared? Aren't you a Dem? Poll say there is no reason to fear her - ever. She's sort of trailer-ish.

Asked to respond to contentions that Palin does not have sufficient foreign policy experience, her spokeswoman Comella said: "Governor Palin has the judgment required for these dangerous times and the background as an executive making tough decisions needed to manage large organizations. She oversees responsibility for the National Guard and State Defense Force responsible for responding to state emergencies and has displayed leadership in the energy security discussion."

      Scared?

I'm worried about her in the sense that the media is crawling all over her family life with no regard for the privacy and health of her family...

But not that worried about her as VP. I think Biden's a stronger choice, though you may disagree with me.

Thanks for the thoughts. I was also checking out the baby. I had a cousin with Down's, long passed away, and it is a sad heart-tugging experience growing up while the cousin you know remains a child. I just hope for the best for that child and I don't think it is any kind of exploitation to have him there last night or to pledge to work for special needs children. I only hope she would have worked for them even without one of her own. You sure have a lot of loud crackpots on this discussion.

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/04/2008 4:15:11 PM

Really? What would you have said had she left the child at home? Please, do tell......

    Why are You surprised?
    Gop is cinical.
    Campaign is cinical.
    palin - is VERY cinical.
I do not know any other Human Animal, gambling politics with sick infant on Campaign trail.
She will say million words - does not matter: she is wild, cinic, out of any moral person.
She is Monster, the Enemy of her kids.
Her Bristol is a result of her been busy running dirty political deals.
Her sick child probably never sees this Mom, except ocasions, when she need to show him as a Politcal Flag.

    What a Monster.
    I am speechless.
Pit Bull, do not make speeches for me.
I do not trust a word You say.
I am just Human and I could not take it.

    • Posted By: mccauj @ 09/04/2008 2:45:54 PM

      What a horrible comment.

      "Monster"? "Enemy of her kids"?

And for the record, Trig Palin is not "sick." People with the common cold or the flu are sick. Trig Palin has Down Syndrome, a permanent condition, and your hateful comments only betray your ignorance with regard to people with disabilities.

It never ceases to amaze me that so-called "progressive liberals" can be so vicious and hate-filled toward someone they don't even know, all because she made a courageous choice to give birth to a child who she knew would be --gasp! -- imperfect in the eyes of narrow-minded bigots who feel they have a right to decide who is perfect enough to live and who is not.

      Monster? LIberal, heal thyself.

      • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/04/2008 3:20:41 PM

Exactly! I hope the Dems can Change. They seem to be the rudest, hate filled people alive. I bet they're proud of the civil disorder at the Rep convention. Breaking the law is fine for a Dem as long as it's for a dem cause. Change.........Yeah right

        • Posted By: AskPlus @ 09/04/2008 3:31:05 PM

I thought you were the rudest, hate-filled person Mr. Mo-nay. You sure blog like it. Keep your daughter from unwanted births. How's her combat training going?

This is probably the biggest night the baby's mother has ever experienced and the whole family was there to experience it with her. What parent would leave their precious with a caregiver and deny him (even as a baby) the experience. I took my 2 month old to my sister's wedding and stayed the entire party. It was loud music, thumping the floor and my son slept through it all. Now when I show him the pictures, we all have a good laugh about it. His aunt tells him all the time that he was the spotlight at her wedding because everyone was admiring him more than the bride and groom. I am sure if you were to attend a big event your children would have been there too, so stop criticizing the woman. If he wasn't there you would have said, what kind of mother would leave the child with a caregiver and not let him experience the biggest night of her life.

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/04/2008 3:30:39 PM

Damned if she does Damned if she doesn't. They were actually looking to say how dare her leave the kid at home with a sitter. But since she brought Trig with her it's SHE"S PIMPING HIM!@!!!!!!!! LOL
      Aren't the sheep great?
That kool aide looks to be killing brain cells

We should all drink what you drink Mr. Mo-nay. You're obviously smart.

As the parent of a grown child with special needs, I have to say I took exception to Sarah Palin's claim that she speaks for people like me. If that's the case, where is her health care plan? And I mean a real health care plan, not some fake plan that only helps people who can already afford to pay their own way. My daughter was born before the passage of the Kennedy/Kassebaum Act, and I had to move my family cross country to find an employer whose insurance didn???t carry a pre-existing clause that would have left my daughter without coverage for an entire year.

What families like mine need is reliable access to care, including ongoing physical therapy, and some mitigation of the annual out-of-pocket expenses we have to pay every single year. I don???t expect to get that from Sarah Palin

I think I'm going to change my mind a bit and more forcefully disagree not only with the article but the rest of the debate on these boards as well. I think the author is disgusting for dragging Palin's baby into this, and I think you all need to grow up and stop doing the same thing with all the children involved.

They are children. They can't help who their parents are. And they most assuredly don't deserve accusations from HALF THE COUNTRY - none of them! Do you people know what this kind of behavior does to children? Do you even care?

  • Posted By: TheVigil @ 09/04/2008 3:27:35 PM

I agree with many of the posts below that suggest this is an unfair and bitter article. But it's not representative of the thought on the Left as a whole. Obama and Biden have agreed that Palin's family should not be the subject of political debate, for instance.

I do disagree with the extent that the posts below slip into wholesale condemnation of those they don't agree with.

  • Posted By: RambleOnNow @ 09/04/2008 3:05:12 PM

I had the same thought. What on earth was the baby doing at that convention? It was loud and raucous. It was late. And I was taken by how subdued the baby was throughout all the tumult. I joked with my fiance that they probably gave the baby Benadryl to make sure he would sleep. I actually wondered about that. Because it would not have helped matters had the child had a crying fit in the middle of Mommy's speech.

    • Posted By: bobbyamen @ 09/04/2008 3:11:11 PM

Wait until you have a child, Babies sleep through anything and wake up every 4 hours to eat etc. Would you have them hide the child away from human eyes or show americans that children with special needs are loved just like all of us?
That one photo did wonders for children with special needs.
B hussain obamie and his america hating wife will never win. They are too bitter and horrible parents.
I haven't heard the media discuss the mral judgement of taking a 5 and 7 year old child to listen to rabid rac--t hate speech each sunday at trinity united. US of KK K and GD AMerica and Hillary ain't never been called a nig--r

      • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/04/2008 3:25:21 PM

Oh but that was Obama not Palin so it was Okay....LOL Ever wonder if they actually see the difference of their opinions based off of who they're talking about?

  • Posted By: RambleOnNow @ 09/04/2008 3:10:16 PM

I agree. What was that child doing at the convention? It was loud and late? And why was the baby so subdued throughout? Was that just fortuitous or was there another reason? Benadryl comes to mind. I would suspect it would have been quite embarrassing had the baby had a crying fit in the middle of his mother's speech. Not good TV. And this is not cynical. It is real.

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/04/2008 3:14:10 PM

Funny thing about you. Yesterday you were asking where the baby was and because he wasn't with mom he was being abondon and abused. Now here's the baby and it's pimping? Poor sasha was being pimped by Obama too. You upset? But then again, had Obama known Sasha would have down syndrome she would have been left to rot in the closet. Poor Sasha

  • Posted By: bobbyamen @ 09/04/2008 3:06:47 PM

You are a pig. Just because you would have flushed your twins if you found out they had downs doesn't give you the right to imply PALIN was pimpiing her 4 month old child for a few thousand votes.
She won't need those votes because b hUSSAIN obamie and his america hating wifew will never win PA OH or MI because all those bitter people who attend church (not trinity united) and own guns will never vote for him

Shame on you. Is B H O paying you to write this garbage?

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/04/2008 3:12:01 PM

Well yes, he is. Note the Obama ad's all over the Newsweek website.

  • Posted By: mdteacher @ 09/04/2008 3:11:38 PM

I, too, zoomed in on baby Trig during the speech. You see, I became pregnant after months of trying. My husband and I were overjoyed. Then we found out that our baby had serious skeletal defects. We made the AGONIZING decision to terminate the pregnancy. It was the most difficult, devastating experience of my life, but we honestly felt that we did what was best for our daughter. I will not and would not entertain arguments from outsiders about our decision. I had never considered myself staunchly pro-choice, though I did respect the ability of individual women to make their own decisions. I never thought I was capable of aborting a baby. But, as Republicans have become so fond of saying, "life happens." Sarah Palin's views on abortion are based in her faith, but our country respects the separation of church and state. I would not have welcomed government interference in the painful decision that my husband and I had to make.

I am also an inner-city high school teacher, and the pro-life views from the right often confound me. Bristol and her baby will probably be fine. Her parents make over $200,000 a year, and they have the means to support her. She has a boyfriend who is willing to marry her. What advice does Sarah Palin have for my pregnant, 16 year-old student whose parents are MIA and whose boyfriend has already moved on? Who is going to help my student? Who is going to take care of her baby while she attends school (since daycare in schools has effectively disappeared with the advent of NCLB)? What future do this girl and her baby really have? Those on the right like to speak of self-determination and personal responsibility, but I usually discover that those individuals have never set foot in an inner-city environment. You don't need to travel overseas to witness the third world. It's right here, at home, in our large cities and rural communities. By the way, I'm from a small town in Wisconsin. Population 6,000. If our part-time mayor was nominated for the Vice Presidency because of XX chromosomes, I would be apalled.

  • Posted By: bobbyamen @ 09/04/2008 3:03:53 PM

You are a pig. Whyat a hypocrite. You would have vacumed your twins out of your womb but imply Palin is pimping her 4 month old son for votes? How about millions of americans watching a family openly love their special needs child. Maybe more americans will think twice before staring at special needs or disabled children like they are some side show.
Anyone with children knows that infants can sleep through anything and a baby that age wakes up every few hours to eat anyway.
B hussain obamie and his america hating wife will never win

  • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/04/2008 3:03:19 PM

    But I was drawn in by Sarah Palin's appearance at the Republican National Convention Wednesday night. Not because the woman knows how to give a speech--and she really, really knows how to give a speech. But that's just good theater;

Hello? Anybody home? Funny how Obama's speeches are not considered just theatre, but Palin's are?
    Hypocrite

I was taken in too ... until I discovered that as givernor she cut special needs funding in Alaska by 62%. So much for parents of special needs children having a friend and and an advocate in the White House if McCain-Palin is elected. I feel used - she pimped out her youngest child as a charming unwitting campaign prop.

  • Posted By: druboats @ 09/04/2008 2:49:06 PM

she was aginst special needs funding in Alaska. CNN report this morning. it has been fact checked and is true. Palin is a liar
