Women in the Spotlight

I expected to hear a scholarly speech from a person running for VP. She is more of an afternoon talk show material. Was she educated at all on teen pregnancy and impact of unplanned pregnancy? She is put up on a pedestal, and perceived as a strong woman because she can raise 5 kids, one with downs syndrome, and a pregnant teen. I am a mother and would probably be guilty and angry if my 17 y/o child gets pregnant. I will weep if my son will go to Iraq. And at 42 I will talk to my MD if I plan to be pregnant as I know that the incidence of downs syndrome is high, I will not put my baby at risk due to likelihood of high morbidity and mortality. I am a nurse and have seen families suffer brought about care of disabled children. What about the expense that we bring about to tax payers for special education needs?

I am sick of religious conservatives waging war on anyone who disagrees with them. Do we really need another one in the White House? Whatever happened to moderates who will listen to all sides and do the right thing by the majority.

Can anyone confirm that Palin not only has a pregnant teenage daughter, but her oldest son is a high school drop out? I don't believe the liberals. I want a Conservative to confirm. So far I can't.

She has all the same qualities as the people running Washington today. She has the same religious point of view, the same ideas and policies and plans for energy, the same support for the war in Iraq, the same lack of interest in economic or health care issues, but she passed the critical question about gays and the unborn, the two most important issues to every American. I don???t care if I have a job or not as long as Sarah is rockin??? in Washington with her husband the First Dude protecting the rights of the unborn that is all any American should care about.

You liberals continue to want everything for free. You want the government to run your lives and hand you the toilet paper. You are pathetic, miserable individuals that can't stand on your two feet to save your lives. We need strong people in the right places to clean house. McCain is only a partial answer. I don't think republicans picked the right person for number one spot, but the number two spot is perfect. I expect her to clean house. Yes, Obama will not make it. He doesn't have a chance. With 143 days as a do nothing senator, it shows. Look at his voting record on line. Look at this "friends and advisors". Senators are very poor choices for presidency to begin with, and it shows in this race of fools. I'm a conservative and unfortunately have to vote republican most of the time as they are the closest to a conservative as you can get. I predict Palin will end up being president at some point in time. Because I believe she is going to go to Washington (Obama lose) and clean house on both sides of the street and expose the corruption and pork spending that is breaking this country.

I cant wait until McCain is our next president. Im sick of hearing selfish pro-choice feminists speak. Go away already and go back to being good women and mothers. No one that calls themselves a Christian should be voting for a pro-choice president. Only the others are expected.

.....................Some women like it that Palin has been on the Republican ticket with McCain but I think most women want to know if Palin will choose to make the real advances for women in a four year term. I think many women know that the Republicans have been regressive in respect to real advances for the large group of women in this Country. It seems like McCain is just using Palin for his political advantage.

Palin has such "barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen" values that I can't help but wonder why she left the kitchen in the first place. What an embarrassment to women. :/

I watched the Sunday news show and noted the general disdain by the ABC Roundtable regarding John McCain statements regarding Governor Sarah Palin foreign policy creditials as a Governor of Alaska. Everyone thought that there was funny and there was no basis. How does ABC news reconcile that position with Governor Rick Perry of Texas standing up to President George Bush and the World Court opposition to the execution of Mexican nationals who did not have an opportunity to see their Mexican consul. Governor Rick Perry and the State of Texas ignored Bush and the World Court and in so doing conducted an amazing foreign policy for a state. States along the Mexican border such as Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California have had to deal with immigration issues and relations with Mexico on a day to day basis. Those Southern governors do have foreign policy experience. ABC news reporters display their ignorance when they do not recognize the intimacy that exists between states that border foreign countries such as Mexico and Russia.
