The writer should have corrected one of the women - she quoted Harry Reid quite right. Harry Reid said he hates John McCain and everyone in the Senate knows it.

You know what Harry Reid's answer was? Palin was SHRILL! Talk about woman hating Democrats!

Jacob, you need to know that there is a difference between soldiers and terrorists! There are no rules of engagement with terrorists who are willing to kill innocent women and children without any regard for life. If they were coming for your son or daughter, do you think they should have their "rights" read to them???

A few days ago, there were alot of rumors that Trig was not Sarah Palin's son, but it's Bristol. Because the baby has DS, I believe with greater probabliity that he is her biological son given her age (over 40). There's lots of internet rumor about the mysteries behind her pregnancies, why she didn't want to review it to her staff until seven months. Could it be that she wanted to wait to know the results from the genetic condition of this baby before she made an annoucement to the world? This could be an unplanned pregnancy and she wanted to wait to weigh her "options"

We beat the Nazis without torturing prisoners, but Bush/Cheney decided that a few raggedy Taliban in caves were more terrible than the enormous German Army, and they disgraced the United States with crimes against humanity that Eisenhower and Roosevelt and Patton and Abraham Lincoln and Washington and Grant and even William Tecumseh Sherman would have condemned as contemptible sub-human perversions.

Palin and McCain want to continue these perverted crimes against humanity.

Sarah Palin is just another Republican torture-pig and pervert.

John McCain is just another Republican torture-pig and pervert.

A vote for Palin/McCain is a vote to disgrace the United States and the all the generations of our brave soldiers who rejected torture as a perversion unworthy of even the lowest human garbage.

I think it's easy for civilians (like me) to look at war and let everything merge into a very dark gray. With so much killing going on, what's so abominable about a little torture?

But for most of the military for most of our history, killing and being killed were just part of the job. As long as the other side is shooting at you, killing them any way you can is totally okay.

This obviously isn't a code that applies off the battlefield, but it defined war in a way that preserved a remnant of humanity for combatants.

But when the shooting stops, when somebody surrenders, you're in an entirely different situation, and there is nothing, absolutely nothing lower than abusing prisoners, without even thinking about torture.

The psychology of professional soldiers has always been that war is something like a sport, and as crazy as that sounds to everybody else, it still imposed some definite rules about treatment of civilians and prisoners.

For a soldier in a war-zone, there's no dishonor in killing other soldiers. But torture is turns war into a total senselessness, and it leaves our soldiers with nothing to hope for except survival. No sort of honor is possible when the last vestige of human consideration has been lost: When our enemy is nothing but a thing that can be brutalized without limit, then we have also ceased to be human.

Our refusal to mistreat prisoners saved thousands and tens of thousands of lives, well illustrated in the story of a German soldier whose father gave him three bits of advice before he went to war: "Never volunteer, always do your duty, and surrender to the first American soldier you see."

Ms. Kilkenny paints a George Bush like picture of Ms. Palin who comes across as an opportunist. Whereever she's been, she's left a wasteland. Don't buy into the Maverick claim. At the end of the day, she's just a loudsy GOP whose out of touch. For someone who wants to be considered seriously, she sure uses her sex appeal liberally.

But what I want to know is how in the world is this mother of 5, with her children's ages of 19, 17, 14, 7, and a 4 month old with down syndrome, and as I said the 17yr old pregnant, her 19yr old son being deployed to Iraq, going to be able to care for her family, give them the complete attention they deserve, and still be a heart beat away from the presidency, and possibly, God forbid, in charge of national security of the free world???
What mother in their right mind would put ANYTHING or ANYONE before their family in the way she would have to? How do you leave a special baby so young and helpless at the time he needs his mother the most? How do you give your full attention to the country when your daughter is going through so much in her life? And what do you tell the 7 year old when she hasn't seen her mother in days because she's off flying around visiting the rest of the country or the world for that matter?
They talk about her pristine values of family and faith. So where does family fit in now? Is she so naive as to think that running the free world deserves nothing less than her full undivided attention? That it is ok to put her family on the back burner so she can pursue this campaign? Or if she does become vice president that she can 'call in sick' if there is a family crisis?
Gov. Palin would you want the lives of your children, and the rest of the world to be in the hands of someone with as little qualifications as you have?
Is it fair of you to ask your children, especially your little precious baby son, to give up your full undivided attention?
How can you perceive yourself to be so high and mighty and put blinders on when you put your family, and the entire world in harms way????
I am a woman, and a mother of five, a grandmother of 14, I left my job and struggled to live off just my husbands salary so I could be home with my children and care for my mother who had Alzheimer's. I know the stresses, I know how you can not concentrate entirely on work when family needs you, oh and they do. Not for one moment can you fool yourself into thinking that any other adult with them can be there for them the way their mother can.
How can you Gov. Palin? How can you do this to your children? And how can you do this to the American people?

I get so tired of hearing about abortion from both sides who believe that only they have the correct answer to all the world's questions. To that end, I am going to take the chance to give my 2 cents on the abortion debate right here. Feel free to move on if you have had enough of that subject too. But I will preface my comments by saying that I pretty much have little use for radicals on either side of the debate. I would love it if pro-abortion and anti-abortion people would just use those labels and not the euphamisims that they came up with. Pro-abortion people believe abortion is a viable birth control, response to rape/incest, right of every woman, etc. Many gasp that "I could never choose abortion for myself" as though abortion is what the anti-abortion people call it, murder. Just admit what you are. As for anti-abortion people, many of them are no more pro-life than an undertaker. Many of them believe in the death penalty. They also want to force women to have children but then couldn't give a crap what kind of horrible life the kid lives. Don't ask them for money or help for food, babysitting, public assistance, money for public schools, etc. No sireee. Once a kid is born, through their efforts at times, then the kid is on its own. They can look to God and ask "Aren't you proud of me? I stopped an infant's murder. I know you don't expect me to help the brat out beyond that, right?" So I think that both pro-life is a major stretch for their name and pro-choice is a name chosen by those who don't have the guts to really stand behind what they are advocating. Ahhhh, that feels good(:

all these people saying "oh she kept a retarded baby now tax payer will have to pay" are being hypocritical!! they say that but want federal funded health care, they want hand outs for sitting at home and not getting a job. they want to live off the system but don't want someone who has a birth defect to do the same? the truth is you stand no chance of having roe v wade reversed expetually with mccain who is moderate on the subject.
what do you really think all these social programs will being to the market? i'll let you in on economics 101. this is a global market which means if you raise taxes corperations will go were they get tax breaks. we loose jobs. if they stay they will have to raise prices and cause a spike in inflation because it takes money to run a buisness and if you take that away than the corperations will have to make it up somewere which will be by eather loosing jobs or raising prices. I live in a state that has low taxes for buisness and we are #3 in the nation for available jobs. we have largely weathered the storm. we pay higher personal taxes but that is something i am willing to deal with if it means i get to keep my job. the republican ticket is not going to raise taxes on the individual they are going to quit giving foreign aid and bring 700 billion dollars a year back into our system. the dems will tax corperations and they will leave. i thought we learned this lesson in the late 90s but i guess not.
as far as scandals has anyone looked at barraks election record and how he got into office in the first place or has anyone noticed that on aug 24 08 bidens brother and son were both indicted on multiple first degree felony fraud charges stemming from them being lobbiest and hedgefunders? for your info on this troopergate the commissioner was never fired he resigned (reported on cnn) and the police officers personal info was signed over (by mr wooten)to saras lawyers long ago. he also should not be on the force hes been busted for dui/tazered his stepson/stuck a gun in someones face and threatened there life on several occations. you all need to get off your high horse and start looking at facts. has anyone here investigated barraks family? i think you maybe suprized to find out about his family in kenya who he consults with on a regular basis. oh yes the plane did sell on ebay. and obama has more than 47 lobbiest (common practice for all sides) and bidens family ARE lobbiests and are currently in a lot of hot water
