Obama's plan for jobs on Pennsylvania, Virginia , West Virginia , Kentucky, Tennessee, and other states, and Obama's plan for dealing with the high cost of energy, including electricity generation.

An audiotape of an interview Barack Obama did in January 2008 with The San Francisco Chronicle has surfaced in the final days of the presidential campaign. On the tape Obama tells the interviewer, . " so if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. . . It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted."

Now, why would Obama say that in San Francisco and not Pennsylvania? We have seen this before, yes? Something about guns and religion.

And why did Newsweek take their story on the Pennsylvania campaign down yesterday after this story broke?

senator obama is not ex-detroit mayor kilpatrick's keeper! no way can you blame this man for embaracing a big city mayor...you people are nuts

I don't think it hurts Obama at all. In the beginning, Kwame Kilpatrick was in a position very much like Obama on a smaller scale. Kilpatrick was the new, younger guy with fresh ideas to help bring back a floundering city with severly mismanaged funds and old rhetoric. He DID help the city a lot in his first term. However, somewhere along the way he either thought he had clout because his mother is either a state rep. or a senator, and he started to believe his own hype. and made bad decisions. He surrounded himself with no good people and even his wife went along with abusing city funds. Obama is not Kwame Kilpatrick! I am formerly from Detroit and know that Sen. Obama has much more sense than to do or get caught up in nonsense like that. My goodness, I'm not a political figure and would know not to use any city devices to carry on illicit things. Even I would assume, being the mayor, especially one that gained so many haters from shaking up the old administration, that I was always being watched. No man is above reproach and Kwame thought he's the mayor and fooled himself into thinking he was untouchable. He should have taken a lesson from former mayor Coleman Young, he would have never let anything like that happen. He was too smart for that. I didn't say he didn't have his dirt, but he never got caught. Kwame thought he could get away with it and was so very wrong. I congratulate Detroit for calling him on his dirt.

For an interesting article purporting to detail Barney Franks long history with Fannie Mae, See http://www.businessandmedia.org/printer/2008/20080924145932.aspx
???Democratic House Financial Services Committee Chair promoted GSEs while former 'spouse' was Fannie Mae executive.???

How about a story on Biden's long standing relationship to the credit card industry, the stalled credit card reform bill, passed by house but dead in the Senate, where Biden "works." (And opposed by Bush. Idiot)

I was born and raised in Metro Detroit area and am disappointed to see this play out like this. As for the comment posted by ssbn777 how can you say that people aren't working hard and making smart decisions about the welfare of their families? I have gone to college received a Master of Science degree and still have had to sit back and watch a high school drop out get promoted before me because he was white been with the company longer. What's American about that? So what wise decision could I have made? Leave the company after 3 years and start at the bottom some place else or stick it out and do what many of us have done? People are tired of the same mess just covered with a new topping. No matter how you cover meatloaf with breadcrumbs or tomato sauce it's still meatloaf. So lets cut through the mess and deal with the real issues which is what the Obama campaign is doing.

Seems to me as if you would like to be treated SPECIAL because of your degree. Weird thing is, that with a Masters degree you never picked up the whole wait your turn, or the seniority rule. Do you mean to tell me because I'm white and at a company longer then you, you consider it racist for me to be promoted before you? YOU need to address race badly, your racist views taint your college educated judgements. Kinda like Obama's judgement of Kwame's accomplishments. All 2% of his approval rating among Detroit voters.

With a good education and 3 yeears of experience you don't have to start out at the bottom with another comapany. Something is wrong there. I think you lacking confidence and surround yourself with friends who give you negative vibes.

      • Posted By: dora rice @ 09/12/2008 10:32:01 AM

If the person was longer in the company then you and has more experience aquired, the promotion was just. Besides with your edication and staying in the company you may in time get two jumps in promotion over him, just a matter of time. Or you may want to look somewhere else. If experience means more to this company then education. I have a son in law who worked for a major company, he had the experience and the education, yet women were promoted over him. He finally had enough, and went into the academic field and teaches today, wrote 3 books and works on his PHD now. Quit crying race and see what you can do and what option you have.

  • Posted By: dora rice @ 09/12/2008 10:26:45 AM

Why is it , that Obama just happens to be friends with the most shady and crooked people , Rezko, Ayers, Wright, Mayor from Detroid, can't get anymore crooked then he is.......Obama wants to be soooo black, but then he white washes him self constantly. What a phony. He won't get our vote.

  • Posted By: trazer @ 09/11/2008 12:56:22 AM

It is so clear that Obama has alienated every Asian in America - he has never really reached out to them. Obama will make it hard on multinationals including the semiconductor and computer industry. He does not understand how important India is in terms of America selling goods into the Indian marketplace. Obama hates Asians given that he has NEVER reached out to them Instead his friends are failed mayors.

  • Posted By: pezled @ 09/09/2008 8:18:35 AM

it's the ame old stuff since we first started hearing about obama - he has shady friends. Most people pick their friends based on common interests........it looks like obama has lots in common with people going to jail. What a surprise.

    • Posted By: raddave @ 09/10/2008 7:03:13 PM

Oh like McCain and Charles Keating, or how about his father-in-law, James Hensley?

  • Posted By: dumbwhiteboy @ 09/10/2008 6:19:01 PM

Obama sure has a poor choice of friends, doesn't he? Let's see, Kilpatrick, Wright, Biden!

  • Posted By: usr105 @ 09/10/2008 2:02:40 PM

The most interesting thing about Obama's friends is the lack thereof or at least input from them. Candidates always trot out their friends and co-workers from years gone by to say how great they are. In Obama's case, it's like he dropped in from outer space with no childhood friends or even enemies.

  • Posted By: daniellevictoria @ 09/09/2008 11:15:11 PM

Point being? Have you not trusted someone and thought well of them then they go and do somthing to mess it up? Yeah i figured you have. Apparently so has Obama give him a break.

  • Posted By: victory12203 @ 09/09/2008 8:22:48 AM

Kilpatrick used tax dollars and took advantage of that city to the fullest extent then lied under oath about an affair that was not with just a Jane Doe but one of his employees. Tell me how Obama has done or condones any of this? It's not as though Kilpatrick told Obama this is what he was doing or got advice from Obama on how to get away with it. In Kilpatricks's speeches prior to this controversy, he had many promises to the city of Detroit that were obviously spoken with a forked tongue. Obama most likely backed him based on those ideas and promises just like that people that voted for Kilpatrick. Who is to blame for Kilpatrick? Only him and those that helped hide and cover up his actions until honest people brought out his actions and justice was placed. Obama cannot read minds or tell the future, so stop holding him accountable for Kilpatrick and his actions.

  • Posted By: judyin08 @ 09/05/2008 1:25:39 PM

I hope Detroit residence realize that the economic situation and the problems the country has now lies with in the administraion we have now. What ever Kilpatrick did has nothing to do with what the issues are that affect us the working class. Make your decisions on the issues and that should determine the vote, We all know McCain will not be a president for the working class. If his concern is for the working class how can he support spending billions of dollars a month if Iraq, while we here at home lose everything.

    • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 09/05/2008 1:41:34 PM

Democrats haven't cared about the working class for about 30 years now. They've screwed blue collar America and only have concern about minorities, foreign nationals, and criminals. If you aren't on welfare, the Dems don't care!

      • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/05/2008 2:41:52 PM

Other then talk, please give me an example of what Democrats have done for minorities other then cash in on their vote? I can't think of a damned thing.

        • Posted By: raddave @ 09/05/2008 6:25:56 PM

Civil rights act, voting rights act. two of the things they have done for minorities and it only took me 5 seconds to come up with those two.

          • Posted By: GreatDane @ 09/09/2008 1:19:00 AM

The Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act only made it into law because the Republican Congress at the time (1960's) forced Lyndon Johnson to move on the bills. If it had been left to the democrats of the time (and their leader Lyndon), neither would have happened. Democrats rewrite history in this area as well as many others.

      • Posted By: raddave @ 09/05/2008 6:24:38 PM

Who has *** the blue collar workers more in the last 30 years, the repugnants of course. Busting unions who supported the blue collar workers against the greed of large industries, giving large tax cuts to the super rich while not giving any to the "blue collar" workers. Allowing large corperations to ship manufacturing overseas while giving them large tax breaks. At least the dems kiss you before screwing you.

      • Posted By: judyin08 @ 09/05/2008 2:03:50 PM

Again the concern is the issue unless your are one of the middle class that McCain speaks of making millions of dollars.

        • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 09/05/2008 2:08:27 PM

Like Barrack and Michelle's $4 MILLION they made last year. I guess you're right....

      • Posted By: vinman @ 09/05/2008 2:01:18 PM

Joe Biden has done a TON for Delaware hasn't he? He's a guy full of vision, right?

        • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 09/05/2008 2:05:44 PM

He's full of something, that's for sure....

    • Posted By: JamesD12345 @ 09/05/2008 1:31:28 PM

Detroit should take notice that Obama will look the other way if the mayor is black. He will stay silent and never do the right thing It is proven time and again that he will never fight someone in his own party even if they are corrupt.
Thank god we have two mavericks in McCain and Palin that will hold both parties accountable. Counrty first. Unlike Obama who is loyal to Kenya(where he can qualify as an Olympic athlete) and Indnesia where he spent most of his early childhood age 5-10).

      • Posted By: epaul @ 09/05/2008 2:01:50 PM

Living in Detroit, the only thing I took notice of was a person abusing their power to get someone fired for purely vindictive, purely personal reasons. Not unsimilar to the "Troopergate" issue that Palin is dealing with. True, she has yet to be officially charged or convicted of anything. Should we now, however, call into question anyone that she's come into contact with?? That would be a stretch. This has zero to do with race, party affiliation, and 100% to do with someone being manipulative and feeling above the law.
Had Obama established a real relationship with Kwame, constant contact, or defended him on these charges period, this would have some validity. But this has nothing to do with Obama. Only the indiscretions of a foolish mayor, whom Obama and everyone else has kept their distance from.

        • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/05/2008 2:45:35 PM

Kept their distance from? See the picture of the warm hug? HELLO Do you read the articles here? He said Kwame will do great things for Detroit. He has a 2% approval rating. Speaks a ton of Obama's decision making abilities, that is, if you have a funtional brain.

In an interview Sunday with ABC???s ???This Week??? host George Stephanopoulos, Obama said, ???Let???s not play games. What I was suggesting ??? you???re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you???re absolutely right that that has not come??????

    MSM

Obama is a moment of truthfulness has finally admitted that he is a muslim.

"The Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, was sent to jail today for violating travel restrictions that are a condition of his being free on bond as he awaits trial on eight counts of perjury and other felonies. The travel restrictions were tightened after Mayor Kilpatrick was accused of assaulting a sheriff''s deputy who served a subpoena on him. Mayor Kilpatrick is a Democratic National Convention superdelegate.

In May 2007, Kilpatrick received this glowing endorsement from Barack Obama, who called him a "great mayor" who is doing an "outstanding job." Obama also said that Kilpatrick "is going to be doing astounding things for many years to come."

    MSM

Obama promises to be doing astounding things for many years to come too.

Can we trust him?? Of course not. We should sent him back to the senate and give him another eight years before we allow him to run for the Presidency again.

Oops! Barack Obama says 'my Muslim faith' in interview with ABC's George Stephanopoulos

LMFAO McCAIN GOT A BIGGER BOUNCE! THE ROCK STAR OBAMA IS WISHING HE HAD PICKED HILARY FOR VP AND WILL REALLY WISH IT IN NOVEMBER WHEN HIS RUN TANKS! OR IT COULD BE ALL THOSE AMERICAN FLAGS THAT WERE THROWN IN THE TRASH AT MILE HIGH! WHO KNOWS BUT ITS CLEAR THAT THE POLLS SHOW McCAIN WITH A 4 PT LEAD AND HIS BOUNCE STILL GOT 2 DAYS TO GO UNTILL WE SEE IT ALL! HMMM BYE BYE OBAMA!

    • Posted By: raddave @ 09/08/2008 6:03:14 PM

According to Rasmussen McCain's and Obama's "bounce" was identical at 4%. And with "leaners" factored in Obama's bounce was one percentage point more. McCain holds percentage point lead in the latest ramussen daily poll. The story about "flags being thrown away" is false, they were in fact removed from the venue without permission and given to the McCain camp. Even Foxnews issued a retraction of this "story"

  • Posted By: PantherSkin30 @ 09/08/2008 3:23:18 PM

This is pure racism. do we connect John Edwards affair with Mc Cain or Larry craig's bathroom rendezvous. To link Obama with Kwame is insulting. And Kwame's crime was using city money for his perosnal gain, so i do not see why the media is jumping on this as if this is the face of all black men. Newsflash, politicians across the board has done this stuff. Im very ashamed of my country. End the racism Newsweek. America should be more mature than this.

  • Posted By: Just Us Plz! @ 09/06/2008 8:29:27 PM

Im confused, yes some of the things Rev Wright said were despicable, lewd, and Anti-American, but what did he or anyone around Obama say that was racist???

    • Posted By: NELEGER @ 09/07/2008 5:33:45 PM

You may not remember, what about the white man spreading AIDS in the Black community. Now, read the graffity in the limestone in Cityhall: the white man trying to steal Detroit's money? How ignorant can anyone be? The bottom line is that while most Americans have moved on to better their lives, lots of Black people, I mean lots of Black people are still stuck on the race issue and have turn themselves into the racists od the 21st century. I am hispanic and I have never had a descrimination problem in America,
except for Blacks. It is very sad what Louis Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson, Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton and a host of other Black "leaders" have done to the Black community in America.
The saddest thing of it all is the way succesful Black people are treated by the rest of Black people, calling them "uncle tom" etc....

      • Posted By: summer4077 @ 09/08/2008 1:52:25 PM

Your statements are utterly ridiculous. White leaders have historically done way more damage to the American population, both black AND white.

      • Posted By: THE RAVEN @ 09/08/2008 11:24:17 AM

Shut the fu*k up, tex mex. If you haven't experienced racism, it's because you must be a white latino. And you sound like a dumb ass idiot when you and other crackers try to lump all blacks and all blacks in the news together. What the hell do you know Jesse J, and Louis F? What blacks have you talked to who called blacks who made it uncle toms? None. Keep saying stupid $hit--maybe it'll come true.
