The level to which this debate has sunk is ridiculous. And pundits and posters who whined about the "using the race card" and having to be "sensitive" because of Obama's skin color are now complaining if anyone says anything negative about Sarah Palin. Or if we don't jump on the McCain bandwagon. Yes he was a POW, but so were many others. Does that make them all immediately qualified to run the USA? NO. Also, the Republicans have had control of Washington for 20 of the last 28 years, and look at the mess that they made of it. Do we need another snarky son of privilege "playing army" with the lives of US servicepersons? I don't think so.

$4 million/year income, Harvard educated Barrack Hussein Obama II didn't exactly come from squalor....

Oh please - have you ever heard of something called the 'American Dream'. Obama is living it - hard work will get you far - remember that.

Yes, and Obama and the Dems are busy promising to take from those that work hard and make smart decisions, and give it to those "less fortunate" who perhaps don't work as hard, and aren't making wise choices... What's "American" about that????? I don't see "to redistribute wealth" as one of the government's jobs in the Constitution, do you?

  • Posted By: remimm @ 09/05/2008 1:38:50 PM

Oh yes, this will hurt Obama the same way Britney Spear's custody battle keep Hillary Clinton up at night. You idiot.

    Your stupidity is criminal.

      1. Kept not keep
      2. His previous endorsement of Kwamee further shows a lack of judgement.

Ever heard of strike 86 before? He should have been out on strike 3 but Obama is the teflon don of 2008. Everytime a major flaw in character or judgement appears people like you immediately go into your rant of WHATS THIS GOT TO DO WITH OBAMA? LOL

  • Posted By: overcomer @ 09/05/2008 1:30:05 PM

No !!! Would Newsweek ask that same question if George Bush hurts McCain or if Bill hurted Hillary. Stop lumping Obama and any person of color due to skin and not character. No matter how ya put it Obama will always be judged by the color of his skin... just look at the nonsense that happened since he has been on the campiagn trail.... and look at the nonsense that his wife has been belittle to " his baby's mama" No were in history has any potential first lady been treated with such disdain and disrepect!!! but the media thinks it's okay.... the ole free speech or since he's running his family is fair game!!!! And main stream America thinks that any person of color coming to this country should be happy that their here and stop complaining. But as soon as the mirror is put back everyone in mainstream gets their entitlement banner out and ear plugs in. Yes folks racism and predjudice behavior is alive and well and once again rears it ugly head.

    • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 09/05/2008 1:39:17 PM

The media has been lumping McCain with Bush ever since McCain became the prospective nominee. Where have you been?

      • Posted By: overcomer @ 09/05/2008 2:11:00 PM

ssnbn 777... I been right here on the wall watching ... and the reason their politics are one and the same so the media lumping them together is justify... but it does not and has not hurt Mccain campaign... but to link a mayor in Detroit with hurting a potential presidential nominee is crazy... thats my point so were have you been?

        • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 09/05/2008 2:26:58 PM

I've been paying attention. Not sleeping or drinking Kool-Aid. Everybody knows full well that Bill hurt Hillary's camapign in the end. Or "hurted" her chances, as you so eloquently put it.

Obama wouldn't be a "historic" candidate, or have comparisons to Dr. MLK Jr., if it weren't for his ethnic background. So race has been brought into it, and that came from his SUPPORTERS, not the detractors. (BTW, most Obama opposers are reluctant to speak out for fear of being labeled a "racist")

Third, the fact that Kilpatric is black and in trouble, have nothing to do with this article. The fact that he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, tried to chalk it up to injustice just becuse he's black, coupled with Obama's public and quite visible prior support of him, in order to turn out the BLACK vote; that's where the article association comes from.

But you wouldn't see that, spending so much time with your eyes and ears closed, now would you?

HOW COULD IT HURT OBAMA?? SENATOR OBAMA AS MORE PRESSING THINGS TO CARE ABOUT.. AGAIN, RIGHT WING PROPAGANDA BY PEOPLE WITH TWISTED MINDS! HOW MANY CROOKS DOES BUSH, CHENEY AND MC CAINS KNOW??? HUNDREDS!!!

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/05/2008 2:26:58 PM

I'll entertain your 100's theory for a sec. McCains been in office for over a quarter of a century. Obama's been in the US Senate for a half of a term. Can you explain how Obama has collected such a large group of crooks and racist in such a short period of time?

    • Posted By: vinman @ 09/05/2008 1:43:44 PM

      HUNDREDS??? Whats your source?

  • Posted By: Mom for AMERICA @ 09/05/2008 1:44:49 PM

CoffeeeCandy .... I found you comment humorous :-) Being judged by who you associate with is nothing new ...for anyone ! It is done in schools ...everyday. In is done in businesses.... everyday also. The DIFFERENCE is only in that some people like Obama ...blindly ! He is worshiped only because of the color of his skin. His associations do matter!! I DO NOT CARE ...about skin color, I will vote for the person who shows me hhe is the most trustworthy for American values.

    • Posted By: SPORTLOCK09 @ 09/05/2008 2:22:09 PM

Not to mention it seems as if every person Obama has ever worked with or endorsed seems to be a crook or a racist. Now 18 months after Obamas endorsement of the Detroit mayor he accuses every white person of being a racist. True to the Trinity motto. Oh yeah, Obama doesn't share Trinity's values LMAO SUUUUUURE.....

  • Posted By: fkani @ 09/05/2008 2:20:05 PM

Senator Obama does not care for the American people at all. Do you really think that 20 years of listening to his minister's hate america speeches goes away in a few short months? If you do let me know I have some swamp land in Folorida to sell ya!

Since both of their voting records in congress are a matter of record I think both presidential candidates should disclose them at the same time and explain to the American people why they voted the way they did.

The let us make a rational decision on who to possibly vote for. If you are voting strictly along party lines (dem, repub) you are not only doing a dis-service to yourself but you are betraying the rest of the American people as well. Change is not made voting along party lines it only makes the politicians of your party richer and has never helped any of us for the past 20 years or more.

  • Posted By: illbootengotti @ 09/05/2008 2:19:01 PM

As a white conservative I have to say that these conclusions are all wrong. Perhaps the more racist in our country will tie anyone they oppose (ie Obama) to something negative. But comparing Obama to Kilpatrick is so weak it's laughable. Apples and oranges.

  • Posted By: archmsu @ 09/05/2008 2:18:35 PM

Detroit needs a business person to run that city, but all the blacks will never vote for a Repulican because he or she won't give out alot of hand-outs, so they'll never vote for them.

  • Posted By: dm92 @ 09/05/2008 2:18:20 PM

First of all, I am having a hard time believing that this stupid story was even printed. Second of all, Rev. Wright, for all of his problems, including verbal diarrhea, does not hate America. He chose a very indelicate and clumsy of saying that America is not blessed by God, just because it is America and this country has to own up to anything it does wrong, just like any other country. You can put words in his mouth all you want to, but that doesn't make it true. BTW, I have no reason to be a fan or a detractor of his, but truth is truth and we get far too little of it during these campaigns.

Here is an update on ANOTHER BarackStar buddy....wonder if Hussein looks cute in an orange jumpsuit.

UH OH....looks like HolyRoller was right again.....wonder what the BarackStar is thinking right now??

Is Rezko working with the feds?
SOURCES: | He's been back at courthouse numerous times

August 28, 2008 Chicago Sun Times

"As his sentencing nears, pressure is mounting on Tony Rezko to cooperate with federal investigations into some of the highest-profile politicians in the state -- including Gov. Blagojevich.

Two more trials -- one in Chicago next spring, one in Las Vegas -- hover over the Wilmette businessman and onetime prolific political fund-raiser for the governor and BARACK OBAMA.

Tony Rezko was inside the federal courthouse as recently as Aug. 14, sources for the Sun Times say.

Now, sources tell the Chicago Sun-Times that Rezko has been seen at the federal courthouse as many as a dozen times since his June conviction. He's been held since then at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in downtown Chicago.

Rezko hasn't had to be back in court since a jury convicted him of corruption charges involving state deals. And his scheduled Sept. 3 sentencing was recently pushed back to Oct. 28".....ONE WEEK BEFORE ELECTION....hmmm...just a coincidence???

WITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM FOT TONY = FEDERAL CHARGES FOR HUSSEIN

This article is total bullshit. I am sick of you white media always expecting blacks or other minorities to take the fallout of something that happens to happen to someone they know. I want to know how in the hell this has anything to do with Obama. He is no more responsible for the stupidity of people he know than I am. If someone I know does something stupid, that does not define who I am. Take Bush for example, why aren't you all holding McCain to the same standard. Bush is his friend. And what about the womanizing Mayor Guiliani, is MCain a womanizer too? Give me a friggin break! Enough is Enough! You can't find anything you consider character flaws in Obama's character so you result to this far reaching conclusion and want to tarnish image because of the stupidity of this idiot in Detroit. How dare you you? YOu want a story, why don't you go and dig up some mess on this Alaskan gal.

    • Posted By: RevWright @ 09/05/2008 2:14:15 PM

The problem is not what you think it is. I know it's really important to you to make this a racial issue but it's not. It's about Obama's judgement which is obviously lacking. His friendship and real estate dealing with the now convicted Tony Rezzko and now after he throws his arms around the Detroit mayor and tells a crowd of people he has done wonderful things and is the man to do more wonderful things for many years to come. His pastor of twenty years who every sunday preaches "To hell with America" His own wife makes the statement "for the first time in my life I am proud to be an american" Its about his judgement and his spineless tactic of befriending anyone he thinks will get him an extra vote or two. If you want to get into a discussion of womanizing let's talk about you last favorite president whom I am sure you defended like the rest of the idiots did by excusing his pitiful and pathetic behaviour by having his intern releive his stress in the Oval office. Its about judgement, character and qualifications. For the last three elections the Liberlas have given you three idiots. Gore, Kerry and now the latest empty suit Obama. I hope you didn;t waste alot of money in the IvyLeague. Doesn't look like too much of the agenda sunk in.

Call me a racist and a bigot if you like. I'm white and I'm not voting for Obama.......But it has nothing to do with race. I'm not voting for an empty suit liberal puppet that can't think for himself. Which pretty much sums up the whole picture for the last 3 democratic nominees. But i guess it's hard to find a liberal that does not fit into that picture which would expalin why they can't find a decent nominee and win an election.

Answer to your question "how in the hell this has anything to do with Obama?": It effects Obama because African-American's are undependable voters. They need alot of encouragement and transportation and prodding by Democrat-party "get -out-the-vote-efforts." White folks, on the other hand, look at voting as a sacrament and a privilege. They will get to the polling places under all circumstances. Different cultures, different values.

  • Posted By: smile2 @ 09/05/2008 12:47:06 PM

Why should Mayor Kilpatrick fall from grace impact Obama? No more then Sen. Stevens reelection impact Gov. Palin bid for VP. We need to stop contributing race relation as a means to an end. This is the kind of conversation that stirs racial suggestions.

    • Posted By: MoJabar @ 09/05/2008 1:05:28 PM

The reason is simple. African-American's are undependable voters. They need alot of encouragement and transportation and prodding by Democrat-party "get -out-the-vote-efforts." White folks, on the other hand, look at voting as a sacrament and a privilege. They will get to the polling places under all circumstances.

      • Posted By: Inspiredbynature @ 09/05/2008 1:18:08 PM

What isyour point? Are you suggesting that Kwame Kilpatric was going to drive the bus that brought all the Detroit blacks to the polls? Are you suggesting that blacks won't vote for Obama because they are demoralized by Kilpatrick's resignation? What on earth does your reply have to do with smile's comment?

        • Posted By: MoJabar @ 09/05/2008 2:07:22 PM

          The figurative bus, yes.

      • Posted By: gtheony @ 09/05/2008 1:21:13 PM

Do you actually say these things in public or hide in some comment page for fear that there might be retribution. I teach students everyday with such diversity it makes me so proud to be an American. Everytime you speak with such obvious prejudice you give Americans a bad name. Lets really discuss the issues and leave you personal disgusting prejudice out of the discussion. Have you ever wondered why "African-Americans" have such apprehension to vote...it is not because they think it is unimportant it has a lot to do with many people telling them..."you vote for that person will be wasted". The only vote wasted is the one not cast. Oh and by the way... I am a white law-abiding person who values all people regardless of color, creed, gender, sexual-orientation, etc.... You know ... exactly what the 14th amendment and supposedly we are all supposedly to be upholding.

        • Posted By: MoJabar @ 09/05/2008 2:04:02 PM

Here in Baltimore City we are 64% African American; City's population: 631,000. Registered voters: 333,736; Turn out on a sunny day: 42-43%; Turn out on a rainy day: 36-37% ....source Baltimore Examiner "City Gains Few New Voters" Sept. 11, 2007. And yes, I say this stuff whereever possible. It's not just my opinion, it's factual; African Americans are undependable voters, disinterested in the process; unless prodded, transported, and begged to vote. I didn't create the situation; I just noticed it.

  • Posted By: sejphill @ 09/05/2008 1:50:26 PM

Maybe Detroit should give a Republican a try. It's obvious the Democrats have done nothing for the city or people. What they are doing isn't working. None of the democrat cities are thriving. Just saying!

    • Posted By: JamesD12345 @ 09/05/2008 2:05:38 PM

Yeah. Look at New York City when they finally gave the Republicans a chance. I think the last straw was Dinkins another black mayor that ran a city into the ground. But again 90 to 95 percent of blacks vote Democrat and it is not humanly possible for them to do otherwise. New York City had other Democrats who are capable of varying their votes.

    • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 09/05/2008 2:00:46 PM

The majority of urbanites in those cities are the first to have their hands out, and the Democrats are the first to promise handouts. That's why they're Democrat-controlled cities, and that'll never change.

  • Posted By: MichiganMike @ 09/05/2008 2:03:51 PM

Steve Mitchell should be banned from commenting on racial politics in Michigan. In the 2006 affirmative action vote you mentioned only Mr. Mitchell's poll was predicting it would fail. The vast majority of the polls accurately said the measure would pass. Why quote a pollster who ended up being off by 40 percent (out of 100) on a race-based Michigan issue? I'm a MI political reporter, he doesn't have cred on this issue in MI.

  • Posted By: cjkane @ 09/05/2008 1:57:41 PM

Oh my. And how would you compare the impact of their "man hug" with the oft-shown photo of MCain and Bush in a bear grope?

    • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 09/05/2008 2:02:51 PM

It's hard to say. Between the Obama campaign commercials, and the media reporting, I see that same Bush/McCain image about 12 times a day. I haven't seen the Kilpatrick hug photo....

  • Posted By: wildlifeusa @ 09/05/2008 1:45:28 PM

Douchebag liberals may care about the opinions of Paris and Caracas, and so does Barack Hussien Obama. But John McCain's first interest are the United States. Country first!

Unlike Obama who father was a muslim Kenyan who when they finally met again at age 10. Obama Sr. smacked Obama Jr for watching a Christmas cartoon, saying that it was against the teaching of Allah! Barack Jr said it was just the Grinch. Barack Sr said to turn the TV off and read the Koran.
Also Barack is loyal to Indonesia where he lived from age 5-10 and went to their public schools, were all students had to take Koran studies for 2 hours a day. No wonder Hussien Jr, doesn't like to pledge loyality to the flag and the US!

  • Posted By: gryphon21 @ 09/05/2008 1:48:49 PM

I guess we haven't come quite as far as we thought if this article holds any validity. Do you know whenever a henious news story breaks, the first thought a black man has is "Please don't let him be black". We are not responsible for the missdeeds of a few just as whites aren't.

    • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 09/05/2008 1:54:31 PM

If people like Kilpatrick didn't break out the "They're only after me because I'm black" argument so often, when they're caught with their hands in the cookie jar; then regular, honest, law abiding black folk wouldn't have that worry....

  • Posted By: curryjm @ 09/05/2008 1:14:07 PM

Hey, if Obama gets elected, I would say that black people should start getting use to being disappointed.

    • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 09/05/2008 1:49:09 PM

With one of their own in the White House, it would be hard to blame all of their problems on "The Man" anymore. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and Jeremiah Wright would be out of a job, that's for sure! Maybe they would just conclude that their problems are due to Obama's white half, and carry on as usual....

    • Posted By: raddave @ 09/05/2008 1:17:10 PM

and I would say that if McCain gets elected ALL people should start getting used to being disappointed.

  • Posted By: JamesD12345 @ 09/05/2008 12:51:23 PM

Obama was basically William Ayer's protege. Ayer's introduced Barack Hussien Obama to the public when he first sought office. Ayers bankrolled Obma hundreds of dollars, that was a lot for his first campaign.

And the fact is Obama never denouced Ayer's himself. His excuse is that he was only eight years old when Ayers tried to kill vietnam vets and blow up the pentagon. So using that logic, then I guess it's okay to be friends with Bin Ladin if you were only eight years old when 9/11 happened.

The race card is not an issue. No one cares. 'The Race Card' may matter when you have to please blacks and white douchebag liberals. But the rest of the country isn't that politically correct and will listen to the facts. Barack Hussien Obama is friends with a lot of radical America hating and/or just white hating blacks(and whites) that inclues the Detriot mayor, Rev Wright, his wife, Al Sharpton and Ayers, to name just a few.

Barack was raised in Indonesia from age 5 to 10 and doesn't have American values so when people bash the United States he doesn't care. If it were Indonesia or Kenya then you'd better watch out.

    • Posted By: raddave @ 09/05/2008 1:48:55 PM

Ayers did not try to kill Vietnam Vets you idiot.

JAMESD12345 -- Your comments demonstrate quite a lack of knowledge. How do you know who Barack Obama is "friends" with? He is no more responsible for what Ayers did, when he himself was a child, than McCain and Palin are responsible for the pardoned Scooter Libby. Or are they? Should we refer to them all as greedy, minority hating whites? Or possibly, can we have a civil intelligent conversation without all your obvious racial bias? That is the seed that YOU are sowing, no one else. You are not kidding anyone.

  • Posted By: overcomer @ 09/05/2008 1:48:01 PM

And Sarah Palin and McCain that pre-written bull crap of a speech ... None of the issues were being addressed. she is just a smoke screen and I could not believe it that those folks at the republican convention could actually clap for that non-sense. Sarah Palin is not a serious contender just a good speech reader... You see what she's made of when she is not shielded by and has to debate Biden or is made to finally say what she really stands for ... Folks especially older white americans stop letting your eyes be blinded by race and not the true issues at hand.... Not Another 4 more years of BUSH politics!!! We are in a recession people and since McCain thinks the middle class consists of individuals making 5 million !!! Not so... this is not this is not fairy-tale land.
