I never believed in my lifetime (black and 50s) that I would see the real possibility of a black man being elected president. I also never believed in my lifetime that I would see the issue of race not be front and center of any sgnificant matter in this country where a black person is involved. I am happy to be wrong on one. Unless Kilpatrick had his affiar with Barack Obama, this is a non-story relative to Obama. Kilpatrick made his own bed - good pun don't you think - and he can lay in it. All black people are not alike. And,as we are all human, each one of us has a friend who has likley done something "wrong" at some time, if not we ourselves. This was wasted print!. Can we just all get along?

Gezz, it seems like Obama can't choose his friends very well, everyone from a hoat monger who preaches in church, to a terrorist on American soil, (Michael Ayres), to Overseas terrorist, and now the gangster mayor of detroit....this makes me weary of him as president, how do we know he wont allow our borders to be over ran by our enemies, and no not the border countries . Guess i will be changing my vote for him, to someone else...We do need a change and so does Obama, he needs a change in judgement.

Confused... how is this different than Gov. Palin's affiliation with Ted Stevens or John McCain's affiliation with the Keating Five?

    • Posted By: dustylee @ 09/06/2008 1:49:43 PM

Well Gov. Palin outted Stevens and forced amny of her party members to resign thats the difference

  • Posted By: dustylee @ 09/06/2008 1:47:56 PM

gezz, it seems as if Obama really does not know how to choose his friends, people from hate mongers in the church, to terrorists of american soil and now gangster mayors, looks like my vote will be going elsewhere...thanks Obama, Its time for change, maybe you need to change.

How can anyone friend actions speak for someoneelse behavior or how they will run the country. Sometimes we who judge should look in the mirror of life and examine ourself before we write things like friend like these. We all see friend fall and rise, so how about this friend that continue to rise and be sucessful in life. I hope after President Obama been in office after the first 4 years and changes have take place that all these negative report comment be remember and the person who said them have to write a new stories line

How could Barack Obama possibly know that Kwame Kilpatrick was going to have an affair anymore than the friends of McCain could know that he was going to have an affair when he did? Let's not go there!

  • Posted By: kandy73 @ 09/06/2008 12:58:49 PM

Bill from Ohio, it should get even less coverage because the story is stupid. Do tell what Barack has done that has made him crooked, oh yeah, just the facts.

The only reason Keith is making this comparison is because they share the same party and skin color, if you do not get that then your thick.

If they were friends, which they are not, who cares???? Barack is not responsible for other adults who choose to make bad decisions. What I find appalling is the fact that the world knows that Karl Rove outed a CIA agent (which by the way is a crime) and he still has a place in the McCain campaign. Does that make McCain a crooked politician? Not necessarily. Let it go and let people vote on the issues not propoganda.

  • Posted By: Bill from Ohio @ 09/06/2008 12:43:21 PM

Just another crooked politician from Chicago - this has gotten VERY LITTLE coverage in the left-wing media.

    • Posted By: DACOACH67 @ 09/06/2008 12:58:03 PM

Not as little as Charles Keating and McCain's long history together.

  • Posted By: kandy73 @ 09/06/2008 12:46:02 PM

Keith fails to mention, that Barack did not want anything to do with Kwame when the text message scandal came out and that he agreed that Kwame should step down.

This is typical logic made by certain "folk" who are frightened of seeing a black man in the highest office in the nation. Obama has done nothing but been above board. A majority of people do not know what their friends do when they are not around and should not be judged because someone ELSE made a bad decision. This is typical people trying to find a reason not to vote, they will look for anything.

So why is Karl Rove not a problem for McCain? If anyone falls for the BS written in this article they are not intelligent or even somewhat smart and they need not be amongst the general population. Barack has passed every litmus test there is and folks are still trying to villanize the man. Maybe Barack is their friend because he is not judgemental like so many americans are today, as long as he is not putting them in office, I can give a *** less who he befriends. Judge the man on his policies, not his friends nimrod.

To this average American all I see is another crooked politician from Chicago. This story is way under-reported by the press.

  • Posted By: DUNIMUS1 @ 09/06/2008 12:36:55 PM

You spend more time trying to break down every association Barack Obama has or had or will ever have and try to twist the "what if" into a "real story". You are so off base, you're beginning to read like a tabloid. Thank God I read this on the internet. A great reason NOT to buy your magazine.

  • Posted By: DACOACH67 @ 09/06/2008 12:24:09 PM

That "man hug" was nothing to Bush and Abramoff's bro-mance. Same can be said between Charles Keating and McCain.

  • Posted By: DACOACH67 @ 09/06/2008 12:20:23 PM

Obama and Kwame's "man-hug" was nothing compared to the bro-mance between Bush and Abramoff. Or Charles Keating and McCain.

Now THAT'S some guilt by association,

  • Posted By: dannysh @ 09/06/2008 12:12:08 PM

It's ironic to see some people judging Obama for what other people have done even though the Man has been as ethical as he can be. While John McCain who actually committed Infidelity, left his first wife who had been waiting for him for five years for Cindy because of beauty after his arrival from vetiam war. It's just so pathetic and honestly found it ironic when some people and the writer of this article don't have common sense to just good character.

  • Posted By: realistin08 @ 09/06/2008 12:08:49 PM

Once again we have guilt by association. I'm sure that the people of Detroit can see past their Mayor's actions and see Barack Obama for the quality man he is.

  • Posted By: pastorvm @ 09/06/2008 11:55:52 AM

Why can't people jukge a man by what he does and not by the actions of someone else. To hold Senator Obama responsible for athe actions of the mayor of Detroit is unfair and just plain wrong. Yes, Sen Obama spoke very highly of Mayor Kilpatrick, but remember this is based on information the senator had at the time. I'm am positive that Barak Obama would not have condoned the mayers actions had he known about them. I am also sure that the people who are now trying to use this against the Senator know someone who has not been as ethical as they should be. What if everyone were held responsible for what others do. I believe that organizations like the Freedom Defense Fund, is launging this attack simply because they do not want a black man in the white house. Had this been a friend of Sen McCain, I know nothing would have been said.

It is rather unfortunate that this article and voters who still want to make Obama prove his manhood, because he is of African decent, are out there. Would there there be any relation made to Mcain's presidential run if a controversial, white republican mayor (of a state with racial woes/tensions), went to jail? This horrendous article or anyone who is not focused on all of the critical issues the nation is facing right now only has a platform to insight fear tactics. Kilpatrick's situation is just that. It has nothing to do with the Obama-Biden ticket.

The writer of this article is the most dumbest & phony person I ever seen in the area of so called news journalism. Let me get it straight, it's like someone similarly saying that Obama could get hurt by the election because of John Edward infedelity personal problem by just getting and putting the picture of Obama and John where they were together on events on the front page article. This must be a joke and hypocrisy at the highest level. The American people are smarter than that. The suffering from Bush & Repub administration is enough for the America people. Eight is enough.

Let me get it straight, it's like someone similarly saying that Obama could get hurt by the election because of John Edward infedelity personal problem by just getting and putting the picture of both Obama and John where they were together on events on the front page article. This must be a joke and hypocrisy at the highest level. The American people are smarter than that. The suffering from Bush & Repub administration is enough for the America people. Eight is enough.
