Friends. I must leave you now. This will be my last post for some time. Before I go, I will share with you who Obama is. He is not the Messiah. Not the anti-Christ. HE IS AN ANACHRONISM. So long.

The essence of the RNC - promises and lies. It's all about getting and maintaining tax cuts for the uber-rich while the rest of the nation continues it slow decline. A quick quiz.
Of the last 5 Republican presidents which one(s) had budget deficits throughout their terms? (Even when Republicans held congress as well...
And for the bonus round, which one(s) actually left the federal government large than he found it?

    Jeopordy theme music......

Actually the answer to both questions is all of them. So much for Republican promises of small government and fiscal responsibility. Instead of tax and spend we got borrow and spend. Expect more of the same with McCain.
And so,how did we get the money to cover the deficits and increased spending for the ever-larger government? Did we increase revenues and responsibly pay our way? No, we did not. We put it all on the ol' VISA card. Yep we borrowed a ton of money from our bestest buddies: China and Saudi Arabia, etc. and plan to leave this enormous tab to our kids. And now we get to divert hundreds of billions of dollars a year to our bestest buddies to service the debt. Money that could have spent at home repairing our crumbling transportation infrastructure, for example. Anyone else remember the Clinton surpluses and those few years of hope? ??

Mr. McCarter, this is exactly the reason why I no longer subscribe to Newsweek. You and others in your profession, lost any professional code of conduct that journalists once abided by in the reporting of news. Nobody wants to hear about your opinions, just report the facts or at least give us a fair and balanced report. Until that happens, I will continue to not pay for your service!

Do we really need another President that has speeches written for him with (pause for applause/ cue stupid grin) in them? It's a rhetorical question, feel free not to give rambling responses that could just as easily be condensed into yes or no.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 09/05/2008 3:51:37 PM

So...you think Barry writes his own speeches??? The guy can't even complete a sentence without a telepromptor. Here are some of his......Obama's speechwriters:
      Jon Favreau
      Ben Rhodes
      Clarence B. Jones
      Adam Frankel
      and many more......

Obama has a huge team of speechwriters.

How is it that you missed this comment?

Comment: Was there anything in that statement that implied that he did? Once again, the communication process has broken down, rhetorical question.

It was right underneath for christs sake. I never eluded to one candidate writing their own speeches, this is presidential politics, of course they have teams of speechwriters; the question was directed at the self-satisfied smirks of GWB, and the goofy old man smiles of John McCain, and the fact that it seems to be an instruction in the speeches to give them.

Barry. Did you see that old frog McCain last night? Ugh. I hate him. I hate him. And his wife.... What's with her hair? Didn't she have time to dry it?. Why was he talking about his scars? We all have scars. I have a scar from that tummy tuck. I am sure you have scars too from playing all that basketball. What's the point? I am kind of worried about that Palin woman. Whereas Hillary had to hold her fire, Palin is gonna come out with all her guns blazing. Why don't you have Michelle get into a tuzzle with her. I am sure that will help you. I am sorry to hear about your friend Karmichael. How unfair. He goes to jail and Spitzer gets to stay in Riverdale. I think that rhymes. Must be the poetry class I am taking here at Vassar. Reissue of Summons

While the original summons was accepted ten days ago by the U.S. Attorney???s office on behalf of the Federal Election Commission, also a named defendant in Berg???s suit, proper service never reached the Democratic National Committee or Barack Obama???s agent for service. Today???s procedure will ensure that proper service is made, but the reasons behind the procedural hiccup remain a mystery to everyone involved.

???For whatever reason, Sen. Obama never received the summons,??? said Berg over the telephone this afternoon. ???The court mailed everything out on August 22nd.???

And have learned yesterday the Summons were successfully served on Obama, the DNC and the Elections Committee! see above link

Yeah sure, but somehow even Fox News, the mouthpiece of the right, fails to report on your wacky news, Doobie Roller.

In the meantime, Sarah Palin is being investigated for abusing the power of her office (sounds familiar?) and it's being announced that she is stalling the investigation. The state responded by putting said investigation on the fast track. Here:

See? Unlike you, I back up my assertions with legit sources.

have you actually read the facts?

Palin? No, among the charges being considered against her one is that she placed the Attorney General to investigate the investigation against her!

You have to remember, the charges the Palins and against Hooten were made TWO YEARS AFTER the fact, and only when Molly (Sarah Palin's sister) and Hooten was engaged in a custody fight. No saint, he was found guilty of only a few charges against him and suspended without pay for five days. The stink is because she fired the guy (Moneghan) who refused to fire Hooten.

Falling for the shallow rhetoric, of such an obvious fraud...as Hussein Obama. A product of the most corrupt political system in America. The Chicago Thug factory. Hussein will never be elected. Not even close...but....the desire of so many to have Govt. be their Mommy is very discouraging. America is a place of self reliance and pride...not weak, dope induced childlike HOPE.

Oh well...maybe when Hussein gets his orange jumpsuit they will figure it out.

Really? I'm more concerned about the backward, offensive, intolerant and downright lying comments coming from people who call themselves Christians, who find it perfectly alright to play dirty just to get their way. I'm concerned about the environment, the way this country keeps transferring wealth to countries like Saudi Arabia where the Royal family keeps funding not only radical madrasas teaching children to hate America, but groups like Al Qaeda and the Iraqi insurgency, and Bush and Cheney continue to rely on them to make their friends rich. I'm concerned about my government ousting a CIA agent who was charged with protecting this country against hot nukes and how NO ONE in the White House took responsibility or was held accountable. I'm concerned about a war hero, a good man, who nevertheless is sold to those same interests, who is old and has chosen, for political reasons, a woman whom he didn't properly vet and is to boot mired in scandal a mere 16 months after taking office in a state with literally less people than my old neighborhood in NYC. A woman whom he refuses to grant interviews because he knows she is utterly unprepared about issues. And who, ironically, belonged to a radical party which wanted her state to secede from the US. Aren't these the things you blame Obama and his wife for?

Surely, if you are concerned you don't need to lie and make up stuff about a man just because you don't like his political beliefs. Christians, real Christians and Holy Rollers don't lie about a man's sexuality or religion or scandals like you've been doing with Obama for months. In fact, you are bound by your religion not to bare false witness, so you are in fact, sinning for politics. Express your views honestly and decently like other pro-McCain people do in this forum.

    rocude.
To be pro-choice does not in any way shape or form translates into "murders". The one that does need to do the homework is you my friend.
Let me ask you a simple question. If Republicans are against Government intrusion why are they so ready to intrude in the most private of all desicions for a woman? If Republicans are so much for having all kinds of babies out of wedlock come to this world, then why are you so against social programs for single woman, or the poor????
If you are so against those that in your view are taking the life of the inocent, why then do you support those who trow the life of our soldiers in such a careless way as it was done in Iraq???
You Republicans are full of the most absurd contradictions to put it in a polite way. If you believe the day will come that a woman will have to be sentenced and put in jail simply because she wanted to excersise her right as an American to choose what she does with her life, Then I am afraid you people simply lost your mids to extremism of the worst kind.
This is America not the Soviet Union. You will have this kind of a "nation" over our dead bodies .

Mr. McCarter, what I find "literally nauseating" (your words) is your POS editorial.

  • Posted By: Mwalimu @ 09/05/2008 5:23:49 PM

Jeremy McCarter is right. McCain is no maverick.
    .
For openers, McCain claims he???s going to change Washington. Yet he???s been a part of the Washington scene for the last 26 years.

He promises us a change from the disastrous policies of Bush - but as Obama accurately pointed out, he sided with Bush 90-95% of the time.

He claims he???s an independent maverick who sides with the people and for the country, but last June, he accepted a $ 1 million campaign contribution from oil companies in exchange for his flip-flop on off shore drilling. (1)

His campaign staff is full of lobbyists: current, former, part time, or on-loan. (For a straight talker, McCain???s stand on lobbyists on his campaign staff is down-right confusing.) These lobbyists or former lobbyists include Georgia lobbyist Randy Scheuemann who along with Dick Cheney and Karl Rove urged George to bombard cities in South Ossetia to give McCain a chance to look ???presidential,??? George Black, a former lobbyist for Ahmad Chalabi, whose lies and information were used to get us into the Iraqi war and who later turned out to be an agent for Iran, and Carly Fiorina, the former CEO of Hewlitt-Packard who gave herself a golden parachute just as Hewlitt-Packard tanked, and who said a ???job is no longer an American right.???

McCain is no maverick. The only change he is going to bring to Washington is more of the same - only worse - Much worse.

    (1) I found this information on a blog from MoveOn.org, but they are citing an article that appeared in the Washington Post last June.

Where does the anger for Barack Obama originate? It really isn't issues, because of heard nothing about his stance on anything. People can make arguments on his behalf, but anyone who are you really trying to communicate with. Anyone who uses 'B. Hussein' in attempts to shout down any conversation is really beyond talking to. I really don't see how people can see how cynical and angry the RNC was this week. It really contrasted any attempts McCain about working with others. I have to wonder is were at the cusp of a culture war.

It's called racism. No need to run from the truth. We still call this place America and America's founders were racist. They brought, bought, sold and killed them for sport and free labor. Come on man, where have you been? The fruit don't fall too far from the tree. It's this countries foundation. FOUNDATION. That's a powerful contribution toward evil. Finding anything false about that fact?

Why is Obama not bringing up the Keating-Five debacle on McCain. McCain and the five other senators where reprimanded by the senate for their corrupt and illegal roles. This is is a direct McCain criminal act, not that of a friend.

The Keating Five scandal was prompted by the activities of savings and loan: Lincoln Savings and Loan Association of Irvine, California. Lincoln's chairman was Charles Keating, served five years in prison for his corrupt mismanagement of Lincoln.

McCain and Keating had become personal friends following their initial contacts in 1981. Between 1982 and 1987, McCain had received $112,000 in political contributions from Keating and his associates. In addition, McCain's wife Cindy McCain and her father Jim Hensley had invested $359,100 in a Keating shopping center in April 1986, a year before McCain met with the regulators. McCain, his family, and their baby-sitter had made nine trips at Keating's expense, sometimes aboard Keating's jet. Three of the trips were made during vacations to Keating's opulent Bahamas retreat at Cat Cay. McCain did not pay Keating (in the amount of $13,433) for some of the trips until years after they were taken, when he learned that Keating was in trouble over Lincoln.

Why is the media quiet about this and why has New York Times not continued the revelation about McCain's mistress, who was paid-off at the Union Station, DC to shutUp? We are about to elect a maverick crook, president.

Over the last eight years I have, and never before, become very concerned and emotional about politics. Much of the reason for that is that I simply hate dishonesty and our political culture has literally deteriorated to where dishonesty can be a whole party???s standard operating procedure. I hate dishonesty because it is simply impossible to deal with. Anyone trying to respond to dishonesty with honesty is at a distinct disadvantage in their having a conscience and trying to be accurate and fair when confronted with someone who has no conscience or limit, rather only a drive to say/do whatever they think will get them what they want. We have seen it in play in 2000, again in 2004 and again now (even here in the postings). I don???t care about Republican v Democrat and I think conservative v liberal has just become something to hide behind; I assure you ???conservative??? does not bring the image today of small government, being financially responsible, doing only for the people what they can???t do for themselves and who conscientiously monitor the market place for the benefit of all Americans, as it did 20 or more years ago. John Kerry found out how trying to ignore the dishonesty can leave you unfairly labeled and disadvantaged, so that is really not a good option. The real problem is obvious and it is that the people, the voters are not cynical enough to question all that is offered and not sensitive enough to identify real motivations but rather allow themselves to be swayed instead of staying rational and objective. When candidates are overly aggressive and slanderous, avoiding the issues and not stating their own positions, it should make people cautious but today people tend to be drawn in and become attached. The apparent short fall is that people don???t seem to check their own emotional attachments, biases and prejudices and then are easily manipulated, failing to stay rational and objective in their discernment. You see the manipulation going on in the candidates campaigning, in their speeches, in the slander offered, in 3rd parties support, both overt and covert, and even in the postings offered here, even to the frequent highly questionable references offered to support their positions. We got it wrong in 2000 and in 2004 and as even John McCain has boldly declared, the last eight years have been a miserable failure, we can???t have more of the same and we desperately need change. It is literally up to us the people, the voters to get it right, to recognize the efforts being made to manipulate us, attempts to appeal to our emotions rather than dealing specifically with the issues, with dishonesty and aggressiveness in attacking the opponent or in giving credit to themselves, and in that recognition we then need to refuse to be used and instead stay rational and objective to make our own decision. Let???s get it right this time!

    On Education:
I went to high school in West Michigan, our school had/has the best special education program in the region. Other districts would bring their SN kids into our program and my school would not only accept them, but allow any of these kids to stay in the program until they were 26. So thats a good thing right? My school should have gotten more funds in order to gain more resources for the program, right?
Wrong. Seems that Bush (and the program McCain wants to continue, only with more "accountability") in all of his genius, well, he didn't account for our situation. Since the accountability for "no child left behind" left no child out of the standards, the fact that we had a disproportionate number of kids who couldnt even understand what this test was, well it pulled my school into the "failing" category. One of the best schools in the state, with one of the best spec. ed programs in the state got funding cuts because of this idea of "accountability". So i say to the McPalin education plan, you're the problem, not schools like mine, "failing schools" by your standards.

So McCain and Palin are all for change? It seems to me that if these people (Repubs) really had any good ideas they could have/should have/would have put them in place in the last eight years, so I???m not at all convinced. But what bothers me most about the Republicans is their utterly mindless, utterly unselfconscious hypocrisy. It hasn???t been that long since Vice-President Potatoe-Head Quayle railed against a fictitious adult character-in-a-sit-com???s choice to have and keep a baby born out of wedlock, and what a terrible example this was for the country. I agree that the candidates??? children should be off limits, and I am not being critical in any sense of the family???s decision in the matter; I???m just amazed at how quickly the neo-cons got on board with teen pregnancy. Are the families waiting to have a White House wedding? What might Dan Quayle think of that as an example? Surely it wouldn???t be a ???poverty of values.???

We don???t have a lot facts in the so-called trooper gate issue, but the defensiveness of the McCain juggernaut in answering questions about it and his campaign???s investigation of the issue (failing even a serious attempt to get the fired public safety commissioner???s side of the story) suggests that the whole situation may be problematic for the campaign--if the facts ever do get out. Will a big check from an anonymous donor to Walt Monegan go a long way toward putting the issue behind all of us sometime before the first week of November?

There are still unanswered questions about Palin???s ties to secessionist groups, her flip flops on earmarks, and perhaps most importantly, her knowledge of foreign policy. I???m anxious to hear an actual Q & A press conference where she can show off her breadth of knowledge on a host of issues in which voters have legitimate interest. When will McCain unleash his self-described pit bull? Having her playfully snarl and snap in front of her red-meat hungry crowd reciting a speech somebody else wrote really shows us little about her readiness for the job she is seeking.
