That is correct R.Donald Snyder We are a Military Family and here is what McCain did to his own men.

you left out all the pork that was attached to those bills, which is why they got voted down.

This is the very reason I will never buy anything Newsweek has to offer. Your bias borders on insane. I suspect most writers of newsweek were among the crazies outside the RNC who looked to be high on drugs and commiting all kinds of crimes. I guess they still let you write this piece of trash from behind bars. No wonder Obama won't win this Nov. He has you and your 'clan' to thank!

Palin should stay at home with her 5 kids she chose to have. Accepting a more than full time political nomination that requires is irresponsible to her family and infant. Guaranteed that 17 year old needed more supervision than the full time governor could provide. Did you see Bristol's multiple underage drinking pictures on the web? Republicans think they can do anything and the sheeple will just nod and vote.

    • Posted By: tuzlasniper @ 09/05/2008 12:19:04 PM

incredible! were she a dem, nobody would dare utter those words, stay at home and take care of the kids??!! you left out barefoot and pregnant!

      write in hillary!!!!!

Drill-baby-Drill is quite frightening...any large group chanting like that reminds me of Nazi Germany 1930's - Typical Republicans...don't look for any other source, just destroy everything we have now until it's gone! just remember Exxon Valdez (ALASKA) 1989 10,800,000 GALLONS SPILLED!!! I guess Palin hasn't learned the first time!!! You people scare me!

And what is B. Hussein Obama's solution? Let's just keep sending $700B to the countries who doh't like us much anyhow. B. Hussein has no energy plan, has no economy plan, has a definite "weaken our defenses" plan and has a great plan for those who work to pay for health care for all those who don't!

Never mind that B. Hussein's friendship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright was no accident, but a carefully thought-out personal and political decision.

Never mind that B. Hussein's association with terrorist Bill Ayers wouldn't matter.

Never mind that B. Hussein's has been and always will be a puppet of Mayer Daley's corrcupt Chicago political machine.

Never mind that B. Hussein's won his first election by throwing all of his competitors off the ballot.

Never mind that B. Hussein's underhanded politics sabotaged his opponents in his 2004 Senate race.

Never mind that B. Hussein used his clout as a U.S. Senator to save the corrupt Cook County Political Machine when reformers of both parties tried to challenge the entrenched political bosses.

Never mind that B. Hussein opposed a bill banning infanticide-by-neglect, a stance even too extreme for Pelosi.

Never mind that the National Abortion Rights Action League says B. Hussein is the most pro-abortion candidate that they have ever backed.

Never mind how B. Hussein has repeatedly steered taxpayer money to campaign donors.

      Never mind..................................

You lunkheads are blind to the truth. You hear the truth but only deny it.

Electing B. Hussein as our Commander-In-Chief could be the most dangerous decision in American history!

We have always Respected and Honored McCain's service to this country. But we know who is spinning the message Schmidt and Rove known as the guys that brought us two George W. Bush terms and now they want to sell us a third Bush term.

McCain called for an end to the???constant partisan rancor???. Yet his campaign ads have attacked American Artists by attempting to brand them as just celebrities. Barack Obama is like Ronald Reagan when it comes to support of the Talented Artists of their time. Obama's message rings of a ???Beautiful day coming to America??? which is similar to Reagan's "Its morning in america again".

McCain's campaign has gone after the media who are asking the important questions that help keep the voters informed about the contrasts between the Democrat and Republican Parties in the most important election of our times.

After watching this Republican convention the first impression was the Republicans rallied their base by attacking Obama/Biden instead of presenting a clear case for voting for McCain. What about their solutions for the issues voters care about? A missed opportunity for the Republicans. Follow up impression common sense now says that its Obama/Biden who can end the ???constant partisan rancor??? in Washington DC.

When McCain says the last weeks of this campaign will be hard fought, nothing personally, just the nature of the business we know what McCain, Schmidt and Rove are saying ??? more negative attacks, more slash and burn tactics. When McCain says ???Change is coming,??? to Washington DC ??? The voters look at the Schmidt, Rove and Fox News attacking and we know what is coming ??? A Pit Bull? Avoid The Pit Bull with Lip Stick when The Pit Bull attacks. Who says we must fight on their turf? Let them come to ours. This race is still Obama/Biden vs McCain/Bush.

America can have a beautiful day in November by Voting for Change we can believe in

      who's bringing the coolaid?

  • Posted By: zigg114 @ 09/05/2008 11:33:49 AM

Is there anyone out there that can just report what was said without taking an angle on a story and purveying the candidate that they like. The media is outrageously biased when reporting. I love how CNN and Channel 4 focused on the interruptions during the speech rather than the material. It's scary how monopolistic and controlled our country has become. I hope whoever does win the election will break up these monopolies and diversify the media ownership.

    • Posted By: Iconoblaster @ 09/05/2008 12:02:55 PM

Monopolies and media bias? One wonders which faction this writer thinks is monopolizing the media. Can you say "Rupert Murdoch"? Hmmm...wonder what HIS politics might be!

I suspect that this writer (like many others) perceives "bias" whenever the candidates he likes are criticized, and "objective reporting" when the candidates he doesn't like are criticized.

I don't think that reporters are really without bias, but I am more annoyed when they make a big show of "presenting both sides" of a question as if both sides are equally valid, even when the reporter must know that they are not. Imagine trying to produce a "balanced" news piece about, say, the Holocaust or some similarly atrocious crime of global and generational impact. How would that even be done? Get some Nazi sympathizers to explain why they thought it was a good idea? Or global warming, or evolution, or geography...if there is an overwhelming consensus of science (ie, the planet is more or less round), it serves no valid purpose to "balance" the program with the inevitable wingnut who disagrees and thinks the world is flat.

Some things are just right or wrong, true or false, and nothing more needs to be said of them than to call them what they are, even if that means that a reporter actually describes them, honestly, without some idiot attempt to give equal time to the Devil.

      • Posted By: tuzlasniper @ 09/05/2008 12:15:18 PM

your ridiculous example aside, it is not for the media to decide which ideas are valid, but report the news, as in, who, what, where, when and how. I don't care what johnny blowdryer thinks.

  • Posted By: nana4 @ 09/05/2008 12:01:28 PM

Amen. This convention did not make any sense at all.
In terms of the media reporting on all of the demonstrators outside, it was happening, "big time" and needed to be reported. Even CBS and ABC reporters were arrested and hauled off to jail.
Palin is a joke. Her state is marketing everything from buttons and t-shirts to thong underwear with her face and name on it. I get the impression that State, and their governor, or so money hungry they will sell anything, including the Wildlife Reserve. This is not the kind of woman who should be VP or President. She has made herself one big joke. She belongs on a late night show or HBO special delivering satire and one liners, punch lines, is right. Boring, boring Carly Fiorina and that E-bay founder, boring, boring; post menopausal Romney and Giuliani, who ate up so much time in his self inflated flop of a "speech" (can you ever imagine him president?) there was no time for Palin's empty video and Romney's delusional dreams of "liberals in Washington" being the ones responsible for what ails us....Liebermann? I can't even remember what he said....and the women had such ugly hairdos that needed a shampoo and a cut and blow dry instead of that old fashioned, bleached blond long hair on a woman over 50 with wrinkles; the music was pitiful; the crowd, like a bowl of cold instant mashed potatoes. Sorry. I am usually more sensible but this past 4 days was pathetic. I wish there were some other way to finally give the honor to this man he needs for being a POW, like so many who suffered and came home, not to a rich father in law and a subsidized political career, but to family responsibilities in spite of the wounds they carried and some still on the streets, sick and homeless. Somebody think of something with which to honor McCain and put it to rest, other than the gift of the Presidency.

    • Posted By: rabidbutratonal @ 09/05/2008 12:10:49 PM

To honor McCain for his POW status, how about we give him a plot in Arlington?

  • Posted By: notforhillary @ 09/05/2008 12:00:29 PM

He promises not to let us down - America cannot be any lower than where it is now - he cannot take it any lower than what the republicans have in the last 8 years!

McCain says, "Change is coming to Washington" with him. Okay, so what were the last 8 year about, not to mention the other 18 he has been there, muligans?

  • Posted By: CloudNineAtlanta @ 09/05/2008 11:53:57 AM

One thing you'll NEVER be able to get around - is that John McCain is a man of absolute honor, sacrifice, and integrity. Obama is the exact opposite- Jeremiah Wright, Ayers, Flager. Want to know how to tell the difference between honesty and character? Every other word out of Obama's mouth is "UM" - he weighs and measures everything he says, walking in grey areas of dishonesty - telling people what they need to hear. McCain doesn't measure his words because he doesn't HAVE to.

Senator Obama spoke today at the Julius and Ethel Rosenberg Memorial in Riverdale, New York and attempted to clarify his comments about Americans "clinging" to religion. According to Obama: "I was merely echoing Karl Marx who said RELIGION IS THE OPIUM OF THE MASSES."
