Come on everyone, let's stick to all of the major issues that Obama has single-handedly thrushed into the national spotlight, like world peace, inner-city poverty, and the oil crisis ... what a maverick thinker, I can't wait for this Obama presidency.

From your computer to God's eyes ...

Don't any of you radical libs want to bring up that Palin is a bad mother because she doesn't want to stay at home caring for her children, but instead will attempt to further her political career? Because I remember all of you saying that when Hillary was running for the nomination...

    • Posted By: steve02001 @ 09/05/2008 3:21:59 PM

It was all the radical conservatives (O'Reilly, Limbaugh, etc.) who were saying that about Hillary, get your facts straight. Oh I forget, your are a conservative, that means that can make up your own facts to suit your purpose, ala Palin, who was for the the bridge to nowhere before she flipped sides.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 09/05/2008 5:32:36 PM

Not specifically for that reason, but Obama liberals did a great job of trashing Hillary and her supporters all throughout the primaries, the summer, and even a few still do it now

      • Posted By: F-B Dave @ 09/05/2008 3:32:43 PM

Sense the sarcasm, Steveo2001, of course no one said that about Hillary- that's why it was, um, funny but apparently you didn't get it. But thank you for bringin sexism to the forefront again. Oh, wait, I'm supposed to be the racist and sexist as a conservative... let me go get a quick glimpse of foxnews, as you libs say, to gather my opinions.

    • Posted By: HFrancis @ 09/05/2008 3:11:42 PM

I have no problem with Governor Palin's wishes for Todd to be a stay-at-home father. As a "radical" I find it refreshing. It's the anti-environment, anti-women, anti-progress, anti-America, pro-gun, pro-creationsim book burning beilefs Palin brings to the ticket this proud community organizer has a problem with.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 09/05/2008 5:31:31 PM

In fairness let's see if Palin's beliefs match her policy.

      • Posted By: F-B Dave @ 09/05/2008 3:33:57 PM

I couldn't read your post fast enough HFrancis, I'm too busy bitterly clinging to my guns and religion. Man it is cold in here, I'm either going to turn down the A/C or go burn some books, like a good conservative.

    • Posted By: rc-in-mo @ 09/05/2008 3:14:01 PM

Are you nuts. No one said that about Hillary. Her "child" is in her late twenties and lives away from her parents home!! Tell a truth now!!

  • Posted By: rube @ 09/05/2008 5:30:31 PM

Health care - who cares let the pharmaceutical companies and the health providers take over.
The government should stay out. We dont need no stinking oversight! Ethics -we dont need!

Oil- just drill. Were a democracy we dont need competition from other new sustainable energies. We just need to keep that good ol oil monopoly in place!

Subprime- heck same as health care, let the financial wolves run the business. When it comes tumbling down will socialize the debt. The taxpayers can pay for the ruin and loss! Oversight - who needs it!

Education- who really cares about the cost! We can???t socialize the most critical sector of our culture. Who cares how dumb our children become. Just keep that financial pipeline open for arbitrary war because will have lots of kids without options available to fight!
Environment who need it- first the quality of water went down the tubes, air- who really cares about the earth, the oceans? We just need to keep the monopoly of oil going. After all its endless right?
Heck we just need to socialize the national debt and privatize the national wealth! Yup that???s it alright!

  • Posted By: jblackwell88 @ 09/05/2008 2:51:52 PM

I guess the thing people miss is that McCain is at the TOP of the ticket, not Palin. Why is everyone want to compare Palin directly to Obama instead of that plagiarizer Biden?

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 09/05/2008 5:30:29 PM

I think that argument adds strength to McCain's argument. If people are wary of having that little experience at the bottom of the ticket, it draws attention to the fact the democratic nominee at the top of the ticket is weak. DNC messed it up again for the moderates.

    • Posted By: labman57 @ 09/05/2008 3:39:08 PM

It speaks to his judgement. He went public stating the the number one priority in his selection for VP was to pick someone who could serve as President on day 1. Palin?????

  • Posted By: sparky716 @ 09/05/2008 5:28:42 PM

dont worry...America will never elect a tired old man and a pettry girl

  • Posted By: F-B Dave @ 09/05/2008 2:50:34 PM

come on, jeffvolvo, don't you know Obama "spoke forcefully on the influence of ethnic rivalries and corruption in Kenya?" Don't you know he has extensively traveled the world speaking out against nuclear war? What amazing feats to date! I can't believe I'm on this post wasting precious minutes of my life arguing with idiots! Obama- nice guy, sure. Be my neighbor? Absolutely. Come to my church social? Yes, bring a side dish. Speak at the high school about my kids staying away from drugs? For sure. President of our country ... ummmm.... wellll .... the radical libs say we do need "change" (gee that's original) ... maybe in a few years.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 09/05/2008 5:28:30 PM

Obama has sour grapes because he picked a boring candidate and McCain picked an exciting one. It is Obama's fault for passing up Hillary. The snobs will say he can pick whomever he wants, well he did, and now what? My fellow democrats, when will we learn? Why are we allowing the left wing of our party to dictate who we nominate for president?

  • Posted By: GregAugustaGA @ 09/05/2008 2:50:22 PM

I don't think Rove meant she isn't ready. Please explain how Obama is more qualified/ready to be President than Palin? Popkin, University of Cal at Berkley? Now there is a bipartisan institution for you. Ms. Clift that alone erases what little confidence I may have had in you.

    • Posted By: HFrancis @ 09/05/2008 3:24:55 PM

When speaking about how unqualified Gov. Kaine is to be VP, KARL ROVE said: With all due respect, again, to Governor Kaine, he's been a governor for three years. He's been able, but undistinguished. I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done. He was mayor of the 105th-largest city in America. And, again, with all due respect to Richmond, Virginia, it's smaller than Chula Vista, California, Aurora, Colorado, Mesa or Gilbert, Arizona, North Las Vegas, or Henderson, Nevada. It's not a big town. If he were to pick Governor Kaine, it would be an intensely political choice, where he's said, 'You know what? I'm really not first and foremost concerned with, is this person capable of being president of the United States? What I'm concerned about is, can he bring me the electoral votes of the state of Virginia, the 13 electoral votes in Virginia?'"
If Tim Kaine isn't qualified, then neither is Sarah Palin, according to Rove.

      • Posted By: News and Notes @ 09/05/2008 5:25:10 PM

the argument is moot since Kaine isn't the pick. whether you like to beleive it or not, McCain is much more qualified than Obama, whether you agree with his policies or not is another issue. Karl Rove is going to say unflattering things about democrats and flattering things about republicans. Why do you think he left his six figure salary in the white house for a seven figure salary at FOX?

    • Posted By: MsChiTown @ 09/05/2008 3:13:28 PM

How about answering this Obama was a community organizer and then state senator about the same time Palin was a) a beauty queen, b) on her 3rd college out of 6, c) on the PTA, d) the mayor of Mayberry
Take your time, I've got all day.

This is just a SHAME. America celebrating INDECENCY. Here is a WOMAN who believes in "ABSTINENCE',
yet could not teach her daughter to abstain from SEX. A 18 yr old boy will get married to a 17 yr old girl. What does the 18yr old boy has to take care of his family. Would it be correct then, that this marriage is being forced on this little chap? All because of POLITICS??? Does America considers the boys opinion. The GOP is the true DEVIL's PARTY. A dysfunctional family is being imposed on Americans!!!

    • Posted By: deanbob @ 09/05/2008 5:11:19 PM

Okay suji, lets turn the tables, if you believe we should all have health care, why don't you take your paycheck and make sure your neighbor has their medicine,
teenagers rebel, even from their own moral/ethical values, .... nobody is "forcing them to marry, they chose the responsible way to parent, which is to work together to provide the child a safe, secure and loving place to grow...... what is so perverse about admitting a mistake and living with the consequences.?
oh, I forgot, Obama said " i would not want to BURDEN my daughters with a pregnancy, (not a child, that would make it sound more like a life than a medical mishap), well I wonder how long until his child gets old enough for him to have this type of concern.....
the 18 yr old has more maturity that most of his generation, and he has 2 intact sets of grandparents who don't look down on him for acting like a man..... not leaving the care and feeding of his child to the government....

    • Posted By: F-B Dave @ 09/05/2008 4:12:23 PM

Can sosmeone help me with the logic on this one? Gov. Palin took money from oil companies, royalties, and gave 1200 dollars to every person in Alaska. That money came from our pockets to the oil companies to the people of Alaska and this is marked as one of her good accomplishments. Isn't this the redestribution of money/wealth. Isn't that a bad thing that the Republicans fight against? I'm just trying to follow some of the logic on this one.

    • Posted By: deanbob @ 09/05/2008 5:02:11 PM

That money would be the same as if every person in WV benefited from Robert KKK Byrd, and his moving the CIA center to a remote part of his state, because he headed the appropriations committee. Her state ran a surplus budget, which states are forbidden to hold (states can neither run deificits or surplusses...
so she did what policy says to do, she gave a refund to those who created the revenue in her state....
I would love to have a natural resource that everyone wanted in my state, so I would not be worried about how to afford good schools, good jobs, good communities, and adequate emergency services

    • Posted By: F-B Dave @ 09/05/2008 4:21:26 PM

The logic is ... you are too brainwashed by the radical left to see or to process the fact that a republican did something fair and good and right. You sir/ma'am need to put on your sneakers and run as fast as you can away from the radical lib agenda (i.e., all that is evil and terrible is republican) and educate yourself a little bit. Believe it or not there are some terrible liberals (and liberal/democratic ideas) and some great conservatives (and conservative/republican ideas). Really, it's true! I promise!

      • Posted By: colorblind @ 09/05/2008 4:27:43 PM

Ok, let's go with it is the right thing to do. Does that take away from the concept that it is the redestribution of wealth/money? I have no doubt there are great republicans and great democrats. When Sen. Obama is branded as a socialist for the same idea it is a bad thing. To think that democrats hold the only good ideas is stupidity beyond compare. The convers is also true.

        • Posted By: F-B Dave @ 09/05/2008 4:34:41 PM

I agree ... I shouldn't have said "too brainwashed" you sound quite reasonable. Too much hypocricy on both sides of the aisle these days! Keep an open mind, lib or conserv!

      • Posted By: F-B Dave @ 09/05/2008 4:24:22 PM

By the way, I do give you guys credit ... it takes a lot of creative thinking to find fault in taking a $1200 check back away from the oil companies!

        • Posted By: colorblind @ 09/05/2008 4:31:52 PM

And thank you. I didn't say it was a bad idea. Just trying to follow along. And if it does make a difference, it would be sir, but I work for a living.

    • Posted By: Old Joe @ 09/05/2008 4:10:16 PM

I don't think that I understand your question. Surely you are not suggesting that the Republicans would be disingenious?

      • Posted By: colorblind @ 09/05/2008 4:13:30 PM

Just trying to leave the name calling at the doorstep and work with a little reason where possible.

        • Posted By: Old Joe @ 09/05/2008 4:15:53 PM

Well, that's sure an untested approach. Are you sure it isn't dangerous?

          • Posted By: colorblind @ 09/05/2008 4:18:46 PM

Extremely dangerous, but what the hey. You get torched sometimes, but then you get to torch some also. As long as it keeps eveyrbody thinking, I'm cool.

    • Posted By: Old Joe @ 09/05/2008 4:12:19 PM

      or even downright sneaky?

  • Posted By: ajon1600 @ 09/05/2008 4:38:59 PM

I want to hear the McCain / Palin ticket talk about issues, not Senator Obama... What are they going to do about health care, gasoline, housing, jobs, education, the environment, etc...

I would never vote for somebody for their "charactrer" as Mr. McCain puts it... I can't spend his character or my own...

JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS JOBS McSame

    • Posted By: texaggie2001 @ 09/05/2008 5:01:18 PM

Health care: insure YOURSELF! I pay for mine. Why don't you pay for yours? Quit whining.
Gasoline: Drill for oil. Tax breaks for alternative fuel pioneers. Oh, and not raise taxes on everyone from refiners to drillers to gas station owners.
Housing: You shouldn't have gotten a subprime loan. Quit whining.
Jobs: If your industry is faltering, improve it. Or get some further education so that you're marketable elsewhere. Opportunity is out there. Find it. And Mccain/Palin won't be raising taxes on those "rich" guys who are starting small businesses or God forbid, already running big business. They are probably hiring. Quit whining.
Education: Let people choose the school that's best for their children. If the schools have to compete they will improve.
Environment: Conservation of wildlife resources. It's called the NRA. Oh and CO2 emissions? It looks like the FREE MARKET is already started when it comes to encouraging more fuel efficient cars. That's why demand is going down in the U.S.
      Etc.: QUIT WHINING!

Dan (potato with an e) Quayle... the most famous over reported factually inaccurate smear on VP Quayle. It was the TEACHER who handed Dan Quayle her hand written flash card with the word potato spelled with an e on the end. Was it a left wing set up? Probably not, just a simple common mistake by an over-worked and under-paid teacher. Dan Quayle did what the majority of we ADULTS would have done... assume the teacher's card was correct.... or choose not to embarrass the teacher.

But where is the reporting of the simple mistake of Sen. Obama? If Dan Quayle, George Bush, Sarah Palin, or John McCain would have stated that they had been to all 57 STATES.... the ANGRY LEFT would have jumped on it and everyone would be saying how stupid, old, or inexperienced they were.

But the angry left has rightfully ignored the simple and common mistakes made by liberals and Democrats.(as well as the moral failings and corruption) However they have WRONGLY searched and exploited every single one of the conservatives and Republicans.... ALL TO ADVANCE THEIR OWN LEFT WING AGENDA.

You simply cannot trust the media to report the whole truth anymore. They only spin half-truths in order to advance their own liberal bias and agenda.

It is very easy to discover the truth if one is so inclined. However on the left and right the kool-aid drinkers just feed on a steady diet of one-sided half truths.

America!! We MUST wake-up and start thinking for ourselves and search out the TRUTH!!

to Proud Amer : Jesus was not a community organizer, her was a reformer, a maverick who shook up both the jewish establishment and got the attention of the civilized world, also known as the Roman Empire

Bush was too eager to capitulate to the left, giving them social programs, but with a decidedly republican twist, he let the free market have a stake in them......

McCain/Palin propose to establish the kind of prosperity created by reagan & GHW Bush that Clinton rode out until liberal policy caused the economy to tank , which everyone blames on W, because by the time we found out Clinton fudged some numbers to make himself look good, we were dealing with 9-11, a direct result of Clinton not wanting to "prosecute" and arrest Bin Laden after the first bombing @ WTC.....
get your head out and perhaps you can see the fallacy of "redistribution of wealth" policies, they failed in USSR & they are failing here (welfare, soc sec, medicaid, Medicare, Foodstamps) more of the same is the Obama Ticket, cause we'll get more government, more bureacracy, more waste, more graft, more apathy, more burden...... why work if the government will take care of you if you don't..... that's why communism and socialism failed, just because you call it a liberal agenda, or democratic ideas does not , as you so eloquently stated: "make the turd into something it's not.......

IT never ceases to amaze this old Sales Manager of men; as women draw men away from the business at hand by the tinsel strength and pull of a pubic hair. Aye, when the seduction goes up the production goes down. I believe God must have had a bad day when He created pubic hair.

Ah, another good sexist among the crowd.

  • Posted By: F-B Dave @ 09/05/2008 3:27:39 PM

The reason why George W got the nomination in 2000 over McCain is because McCain was too independent minded for the party, had nothing to do with him being too old or forgetful. George W walked the party line, McCain didn't (doesn't). But, congratulations, so far I've heard racism, sexism, and religious prejudice from you radical libs, I almost forgot about age discrimination! Thanks!

    • Posted By: basedrum777 @ 09/05/2008 3:35:13 PM

That was until McCain changed his stance on Immigration (he sponsored a bill he now opposes), campaign finance (he sponsored a bill that again he now opposes), or tax cuts (that he opposed saying "Give me one time in history we've given tax cuts while we were at war") but now supports making permanent.

      • Posted By: F-B Dave @ 09/05/2008 3:44:22 PM

Actually you are mostly right about those two- but "too old and forgetful?" Goodness, If John McCain is forgetful for his "flip-flops," John Kerry has Alzheimers!!!!

        • Posted By: basedrum777 @ 09/05/2008 4:10:30 PM

Wait now i know you must be a Republican. Instead of addressing the facts presented to you, you said, "oh its not so bad...look at what he did". You would've fit in well in Minnesota.

          • Posted By: F-B Dave @ 09/05/2008 4:43:09 PM

Actually no, I voted for Clinton 1. Rather independent as it goes. And I believe it is you who changed the issue from John McCain being "too old and forgetful" to ... he is a flip-flopper. All I said was that if you call being a flip-flopper old and forgetful, what do you call the king of the flip-flop, Democrat John Kerry?? Come on, think a little bit independently, it is fun! You don't always need to walk your party line!!

  • Posted By: ajon1600 @ 09/05/2008 4:36:16 PM

I think this is too little too late for John Mc Cain, and he is fooling nobody - unless you are of that bunch that want to be fooled and led around like a little puppy. John McCain has supported the policies of George W. Bush more than 90% of the time, that in itself should tell voters this is the wrong choice for America.

Batack Obama already has his plans laid for the economy, healthcare, etc.. Where is John MCCain's? He said this election is going to be about character - well we can take character to the gas pump, or the grocery store, or the doctor when a child or parent is sick.

So c'mon Mr. McCain address the real issues facing this country, or get out of the way and let someone with a real plan lead.

You will fool a few of the people, but not the majority... I think the democrats will win it all (senate, house and white house) this year. And unless they screw things up royally, I think they will hold power for at least 28 years.

  • Posted By: ApostasyUSA @ 09/05/2008 4:36:09 PM

On August 10, Karl Rove went on "Face The Nation" to argue that Senator Obama would make an "intensely political choice" for Vice President without regard for the "responsibilities of president." At the time, Rove believed Obama would choose Tim Kaine, and argued against him by saying this:

With all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he's been a governor for three years, he's been able but undistinguished. I don't think people could really name a big, important thing that he's done. He was mayor of the 105th largest city in America. And again, with all due respect to Richmond, Virginia, it's smaller than Chula Vista, California; Aurora, Colorado; Mesa or Gilbert, Arizona; north Las Vegas or Henderson, Nevada. It's not a big town. So if he were to pick Governor Kaine, it would be an intensely political choice where he said, "You know what? I'm really not, first and foremost, concerned with, is this person capable of being president of the United States?

And McCain picks Palin Governor of Alaska but Kaine Governor Virginia is small potatoes????
