Lawrence2xl, I wholeheartedly agree. I am a woman and I think that if Palin wants to play with the big boys, she has to be ready to take the hits. You cannot have it both ways. When they talked about Cheney's lesbian daughter, it was not a issue. They talk about her family, the questionable history of her husband and suddenly it is off limits. If Obama's daughter were pregnant - his parenting and judgment would be an issue.
As for her record, being mayor of a city with a pop. of 7,000 or governor of one of our least populus states (no disrespect Alaska) is not the same as governing a diverse country of millions. With a war raging, the economy at its worst, and the lowest opinion of the international community in years, all we need is a gun toting, soccer mom in the White House. Wow, that should really scare the Taliban or make the Russians respect us. I am not fooled by the McCain / Palin ticket. Between the two of them, the US will be in conflicts all over the world. Not to mention, neither seems to be in touch with the economy. I respect the war hero story, but having returned home, marrying well and having so many houses that he cannot remember. McCain has recovered quite nicely and is doing better than most of americans.

ms. palin is a clever selection for a republican party desperate to retain power & shift blame/responsibility for 8 years of destructive decision making. her bright persona will thrive in a cult of personality that will enable her to seduce & confuse many voters. at her core she is a religious fanatic. in all fairness, the American media must aggressively question her positions on the issues. ms. palin holds many ideas which Americans have rejected. Americans do not want creationism taught in schools, they do not want book bans & censorship, they do not want 'abstinance only' to be the solitary guidance for our young people. at the very least, mccain & palin should be forced to confirm & clarify their opposition to broad sex education, family planning & safe sex options. yes, i admit the RNC convention was superb stagecraft, brilliant manipulation, & psychologically cunning - but the fact remains - republicans created the current mess & the republicans have done nothing but steal the ideas of Barack Obama to explain how we might get our beautiful country back on track.

Americans do not want Creationism? Religious Fanatic? Is everyone who does not share your narrow viewpoint a "fanatic"? perhaps you are the "fanatic"! Hundreds of millions of Americans ( over half the country, including many dems) disagree with the point of view you expressed. .. Do you really want people to think that the Democratic party is the Athiest Party? If so, Then I am an even stronger Republican than I thought.

Now this is MC Cain's record.... Oh right, he cares so much for the american people!! He was a traitor to other POW's who died because of him!!

is correct R.Donald Snyder We are a Military Family and here is what McCain did to his own men.

McCain votes AGAINST our combat troops ... 5/2008: McCain voted AGAINST the Webb GI Bill. 9/2007: McCain voted AGAINST bill to minimize periods of time between deployment of units sent to Iraq.

5/2006: McCain voted AGAINST $20 Million to VA for health care facilities. 4/2006: McCain voted AGAINST $430,000,000 to VA for Medical Services. 3/2006: McCain voted AGAINST increasing Vet-medical services $1.5 billion in FY2007.

3/2004: McCain voted AGAINST increasing Vet-medical care by $1.8 billion. 10/2003: McCain voted to TABLE an amendment for $322,000,000 for safety equipment for USforces. "Table"= vote never hits floor. 10/2003: McCain voted to TABLE a vote for $1 Billion for National Guard and Reserve Equipment in Iraq dueto:shortage of helmets, tents, bullet-proof inserts, & tactical vests. Here's your test MSM -- will YOU all inform the viewers/voters of McCain's ANTI-MILITARY voting record? c. proffit, Lexington, Ky. (Sent Friday, July 18, 2008 4:08

allright Linda, what you can do if you have time is copy, paste and put this on all forums all over the internet... don't forget to copy, paste Obama's record too :) Well it looks like you have some work ahead of you, but maybe, some would like to help!

Palin is a gamble alright. But, it is not a gamble that I won't be taking. She may gather a few thousand or so disgruntled Hillary backers. If educated women can see through the balloons, they will find that her belief system is skewed so far right she will send you back to the 50's. Thus far Obama has been receiving support of the more educated voters. Women with brains will also back Obama, because his platform is parallel with Hillary's. As far as McCain is concerned. He delivered a painful speech, that did nothing to shore up moderates. As a two time Iraqi vet, I humbly honor his service to our country. However, we are living in the 21st century and McCain is regurgitating the past (Vietnam Service, Cold War, 9/11 etc.) Change means evolution, and Obama has the intellect, the judgement and patience to deal with the new world problems. My only real problem w/ Obama his that he may lean a little to left on social issues, but he is spot on with todays problems and his plans to solve them.

More of her records... excuse me, but she drowning and not rocking for the people of Alaska!!

Comment: Like Texan_007 says just what the Republican Party needs, and there is no doubt she is a true Republican.

When she became mayor of Wasilla then a town of 5,000. The town had zero debt, when she left it had $22 million in debt.

She gave the corporate property owners tax cuts at the expense of the residents, but she got lots of Wal Marts.

The town needed a sewage plant, So Palin built a sports complex that is a drain on the towns economy and is still in legal limbo since the city did not have clear title to the land, and built streets to 20th century standands...still no sewage plant.

Fired everyone who worked for the city and replaced them with her cronies, even tried to fire the city librarian for refusing to remove books Palin found objectionable.

Yep she's a Republican, and like she says she's a pit bull with lip stick, Loyal to those close to her and a danger to everyone else.

Hmmm.....should I vote for GI Joe the All American Hero or some man with a father from Kenya, schooled in Indonesia, whose wife was not proud to be an American and whose church was....well....you know where I am going with this.... Palin Rocks!

    • Posted By: Old Joe @ 09/05/2008 2:47:26 PM

Palin rocks, OK. Especially if you want someone to tell you what YOUR religious beliefs should be, and who is suing the US government to reverse the ruling putting polar bears on the endangered list. That's "rock" as in "stone age".

  • Posted By: Paula_SA @ 09/05/2008 2:47:06 PM

Well, the male population is extremely enthusiastic over Palin, they want to have beer and sex with her. Never considered her a serious candidate. She brought the carnival to town. Check out the blogs.

Palin supported the bridge to nowhere until it wasn't cool to do so, was on indicted Senator Steven's re-election committee, until she stopped liking him, got $24 million in the very pork barrel money she now decries, and espouses family values rhetoric that didn't work very well in real life. Oh, and she is ok with hunting animals that are running on four legs through snow and ice from aircraft and helicopters. Isn't she just what we need.

How many time do I have to post Palin's records??

This was pulled from a newspaper article from someone who knows Palin, Check it out,

    ABOUT SARAH PALIN

I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992. Everyone here knows Sarah, so it is nothing special to say we are on a first-name basis. Our children have attended the same schools. Her father was my child's favorite substitute teacher. I also am on a first name basis with her parents and mother-in-law. I attended more City Council meetings during her administration than about 99% of the residents of the city.

    CLAIM VS FACT

*"Hockey mom": true for a few years

*"PTA mom": true years ago when her first-born was in elementary school, not since

    *"NRA supporter": absolutely true

*social conservative: mixed. Opposes gay marriage, BUT vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships (said she did this because it was unconstitutional) .

*pro-creationism: mixed. Supports it, BUT did nothing as Governor to promote it.

*"Pro-life": mixed. Knowingly gave birth to a Down's syndrome baby BUT declined to call a special legislative session on some pro-life legislation

*"Experienced": Some high schools have more students than Wasilla has residents. Many cities have more residents than the state of Alaska. No legislative experience other than City Council. Little hands-on supervisory or managerial experience; needed help of a city administrator to run town of about 5,000.

    *political maverick: not at all

    *gutsy: absolutely!

*open & transparent: ??? Good at keeping secrets. Not good at explaining actions.

*has a developed philosophy of public policy: no

*"a Greenie": no. Turned Wasilla into a wasteland of big box stores and disconnected parking lots. Is pro- drilling off-shore and in ANWR.

*fiscal conservative: not by my definition!

*pro-infrastructure: No. Promoted a sports complex and park in a city without a sewage treatment plant or storm drainage system. Built streets to early 20th century standards.

*pro-tax relief: Lowered taxes for businesses, increased tax burden on residents

*pro-small government: No. Oversaw greatest expansion of city government in Wasilla's history.

*pro-labor/pro- union. No. Just because her husband works union doesn't make her pro-labor. I have seen nothing to support any claim that she is pro-labor/pro- union.

lawrence2xl, you are not speaking for this American and please don't speak that broadly. I do believe in creationism and am proud of it! Please only speak for yourself as you really do not know what another person is thinking. Thank you for allowing me to comment.

Someone needs to tell Little Sarah Shrill One Note that she reminds a lot of men of their ex-wives scritching at them to take the garbage out. They also need to tell McCain that his yappy poodle is distracting everyone from his "no more partisanship" message. She is a divisive, haranguing harpy. I can only imagine how she yipped and yapped until she fired the guy in AK -- yikes. If I had to listen to that thing day in and day out I wold find the nearest ice floe and spend my last few moments in peace and quiet.

Do you know that Palin just got her first passport last year?

  • Posted By: thesunnyc @ 09/05/2008 2:29:05 PM

You'd really think that women in the media would at least give Palin a chance but instead they are as usual in the business of cat fighting any woman who gets a chance. Jealousy is always evident when a woman gets ahead of other women.

    • Posted By: dc1960 @ 09/05/2008 2:43:04 PM

By no means am I jealous of Palin. I can't see what there is to be jealous of. ... a gun toting, moose killing, blah blah blah.. NOPE, not jealous.

"...reclaiming the reform issue for the Republicans"?!!

Explain that to me. How is the addition of a right-wing extremist as VP (woman or minority) going to make McCain's policies distinct from those of George W. Bush? Does the mere fact that the VP is a woman = "reform"? Nonsense.

  • Posted By: F-B Dave @ 09/05/2008 2:42:30 PM

Thank you Stematwork! I love the attack on the GOP VP candidate, but all the ideological liberals with their heads in the clouds who want to "change" the world with free cell phones and lollipops for everyone seem to forget that Obama has lessor of a record than she does! How devilishly duplicitous and downright evil. Ohhh, sorry Johnshermer, I didn't mean to belittle one of the "brightest political minds" of our era, Jimmy Carter, oh I'm sorry, Barack Obama. To use a phrase ... "puuhleease" And goodness is it a good thing with have the "non-partisan" CNN & MSNBC news networks to watch and gather details for us!

  • Posted By: labman57 @ 09/05/2008 2:42:04 PM

One reason Palin is so dangerous is that she believes that everything she does is "God's will". Therefore, she can do no wrong. Very scary for someone aspiring to the #2 position in our nation.

wildlifeusa @ 09/05/2008 2:38:29 PM Dear WildlifeUSA........I utterly agree with you. 100%. I'm totally and completely ashamed for about 50% of my own countrymen. It's utterly shameful.

How many times do I have to post Senator's Obama's record???
No Palin doesnt rock, she is drowning!!

    COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS:

Obama holds assignments on the Senate Committees for Foreign Relations; Health, Education, Labor and Pensions; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and Veterans' Affairs, and he is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

    -------------------------
As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Obama made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

In August 2005, he traveled to Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. The trip focused on strategies to control the world's supply of conventional weapons, biological weapons, and weapons of mass destruction as a first defense against potential terrorist attacks.<61>

Following meetings with U.S. military in Kuwait and Iraq in January 2006, Obama visited Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian territories. He left for his third official trip in August 2006, traveling to South Africa, Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Chad. In a nationally televised speech at the University of Nairobi, he spoke forcefully on the influence of ethnic rivalries and corruption in Kenya.

Obama worked with Russ Feingold (D???WI) to eliminate gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and require disclosure of bundled campaign contributions under the 'Honest Leadership and Open Government Act', which was signed into law in September 2007.

He joined Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in sponsoring S. 453, a bill to criminalize deceptive practices in federal elections, including fraudulent flyers and automated phone calls, as witnessed in the 2006 midterm elections. Obama also introduced the 'Iraq War De-Escalation Act', a bill to cap troop levels in Iraq, begin phased redeployment, and remove all combat brigades from Iraq before April 2008.<68>

  • Posted By: wildlifeusa @ 09/05/2008 2:39:36 PM

Later in 2007, Obama sponsored with Kit Bond (R-MO) an amendment to the 2008 Defense Authorization Act adding safeguards for personality disorder military discharges, and calling for a review by the Government Accountability Office following reports that the procedure had been used inappropriately to reduce government costs. joined Chuck Hagel (R-NE) in introducing legislation to reduce risks of nuclear terrorism.A provision from the Obama-Hagel bill was passed by Congress in December 2007 as an amendment to the State-Foreign Operations appropriations bill.

Obama also sponsored a Senate amendment to the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to provide one year of job protection for family members caring for soldiers with combat-related injuries. After passing both houses of Congress with bipartisan majorities, SCHIP was vetoed by President Bush in early October 2007, a move Obama said 'shows a callousness of priorities that is offensive to the ideals we hold as Americans

** First legislation, the HOPE Act, which increased Pell Grants to $5100, and later joined Senator Kennedy on the Higher Education legislation that passed July 20, by a vote of 78-18. That legislation also included funding for Predominantly Black Colleges to assist with counseling, tutoring and other needs of low income students. It also creates the Teaching Residency Act which will create a school-based teacher preparation program in high needs schools to provide each teacher with a mentor, content instruction, classroom management skills, a master???s degree and state certification, and a 2 year follow-up program.

**The Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006
is an act that requires the full disclosure of all entities or organizations receiving federal funds beginning in fiscal year (FY) 2007 on a website maintained by the Office of Management and Budget.

**The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act
Authored by U.S. Sens. Dick Lugar (R-IN) and Barack Obama (D-IL), the Lugar-Obama initiative expands U.S. cooperation to destroy conventional weapons. It also expands the State Department's ability to detect and interdict weapons and materials of mass destruction. Signed into Law on January 11, 2007.

Linda, you need to separate your texts other wise it become too confusing for those poor republican minds

Clearly a partisan article. Just because Palin's views do not match the writer does not make them wrong. Palin adds much to the Republican ticket...which is probably why the media marches out their female writers to contest her.

Guess the voters will decide if a completely inexperienced Obama running for Pres or a somewhat experienced Palin running for VP makes more sense. Its a dangerous world for a Pres to have no experience...VP is still an advisory role.
