I can't help wondering if all the people posting here who claim that they once supported Clinton and now support McCain/Palin are real, or if they are just lying Republicans who have always been Republicans and are trying to convince Democrats to joing them in their race to finish ruining this country. Surely anyone with any decent degree of intelligence who ever supported Clinton on the issues will understand that McCain / Palin are 180 degrees away from Clinton on the issues. Anyone with any desgree of intelligence can surely see that McCain /. Palin will not be agents of change but will bring us more of what Bush and company have been bringing us for since they came to office. Unfortunately, 50% of the population have below average intelligence.

Anyone with any degree of intelligence wouldn't vote for Barrack Hussein Obama II unless they at least knew a little bit about his record. Nope, you lemmings have fallen for the hype machine, and all of the pretty, vague, empty speeches. Hillary actually had intelligence and substance. Obama? What does he have? Um, er, eh, he's got agugula I suppose....

The reality is, a lot of women *do* make judgments based on gender - to say they don't is misleading and untrue. All of us make decisions everyday based on an intricate convolutions of conscious and unconscious factors, and gender is sometimes one them, whether or not we are willing to admit it.

When are you going to change your name to OpinionWeek? And, no Hillary may not be heard from again until this election is over. It is, after all, in her best interests for Obama to lose.

I will be the first to admit I do not know a lot about politics, I watch, I listen then I decide. I am a mom of 5 kids with a full time job and I can tell you its a tough thing to do. So how does Palin say she's a hockey mom, a hands on, involved parent? She is governor of a state, and running for VP? How do you raise a special needs child and meet the demands of the office of VP? When her family came on stage- she hugged her husband, turned to waved to the crowed and then took her baby from her youngest daughter. She broke OPSEC rules by stating when her son would be deploying, not that anyone would have a hard time finding out these days, but a military wife its drilled into us at every turn what you can and cannot say. There are just things I saw while watching her, not necessarily listening to her, that I didn't care for. When you get into what she said, most everything that came out of her mouth during her speech was inflated and only partial truths designed to sound good on tv. I think family values are extremely inportant and if she is gonna preach them then how does she not have to explain her daughters pregnancy? She wants an abstinence only education program in our schools but she can't make that work inside the walls of her own home. I undrstand her religious beliefs- but when it fails in your own family at some point you have to address it. I agree the kids should be kept out as much as possible but it is somethign she knew signing up for this and discussing a teen pregnancy doesn't have to mean it has to be mud slinging disrespect. How is she going to advocate for my special needs child when she seems to not have even done so for her own? She knew she was having a downes syndrome baby and she takes a flight she was advised against and doesnt get to a hospital for seveal hours after her water breaks, then takes only 3 days maternity leave? I somehow doubt money was an critical issue for her return to work so soon. What I saw in her is a woman who will place that child with a caregiver or in a home or "school" for the best care possible while she tends to her job. Like I said I don't know politics very well at all but I do know people and I like to watch and see what I can hear that way, aren't we always told actions speak louder than words?

Thanks Momto5...you hit the nal on the head.

      • Posted By: ldb10AE @ 09/06/2008 1:22:26 PM

Thank you for your intelligent analysis. You've just made the kind of common sense examination of the situation that seems to be so lacking these days.

One thing you people who are so excited about Sarah should be careful about. We really don't know very much about her yet. What I fear is that some of you really don't care, if she can just help McCain win. He's a very old man with a history of cancer. Be careful what you ask for.

    • Posted By: WasHRCnowPalin @ 09/06/2008 1:22:03 PM

This democratic party tent is really getting small... now you attack McCain because of his age!!!

You guys are against women who drive change and against the elderly.

      BTW, how's the kool-aid?

    • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 09/06/2008 1:21:27 PM

Nobody knows anything about Obama either!

    • Posted By: OscarP @ 09/06/2008 1:18:31 PM

we don't know anything from Obama and he wants to be president !!!

    • Posted By: Wolfin @ 09/06/2008 1:13:50 PM

I have been watching/researching her since last April or May so I'm not afraid to ask for her to be our VP.

Watching the American election it is clear that your great country is bitterly divided. Personal Character assinations of these candidates will only continue to divide and distract from the major issues you face. Regardless of what side you are on! Women have come a long way not just in America but all over the free world. There is still a road of challenges that needs to be travelled for all women of the world. Please use your vote wisley and unselfishly. Do your homework and try just for a moment to put the shoe on the other foot. The "my way or highway" attitude is desructive and hateful and does not embrace the platforms
    of "Change" or "Country First".

Hallelujah...couldn't have said it better myself!!

      • Posted By: usingyourhead @ 09/06/2008 1:21:49 PM

At last, a rational, factual evaluation without name calling. We need more of this from all Americans.

      • Posted By: usingyourhead @ 09/06/2008 1:15:59 PM

At last, a rational opinion from a thinking, evaluating person. We need more, more, more...

  • Posted By: tiredofrepublicans @ 09/06/2008 1:19:42 PM

dismayed_in_fla you should not be dismayed especially from the state who left katherine harris in charge of your elections. As time goes on the true Palin story will surface...like the true story onGeo.w. Bush being a deserter will...the real story on the bridge to nowhere is out already...

  • Posted By: ssbn777 @ 09/06/2008 1:18:14 PM

What Hillary should say right now? How about "I told you so" to the DNC and all of the Obama supporters who fell in line like lemmings behind an unelectable goofball.

  • Posted By: paris1969 @ 09/06/2008 1:17:32 PM

Hillary has already done all that is necessary for her to do. Obama "chose" NOT to have her as part of his Campaign. And when the far-left-wing of the Democratic Party selected Obama ... they "chose" to ignore the voters. I will hold my nose and vote for McCain as I too would rather have a little pain with McCain than a lot of trauma with Obama!

  • Posted By: ToadTreeHugger @ 09/06/2008 1:17:20 PM

Hillary should say: "Newsweek, you asked me to drop out of the race a dozen times, you smeared me innumerable times, you begged Obama, your chosen one, to passover me as VP. So, Newsweek, all I have to say to you now is: drop dead."

  • Posted By: Ingeborg @ 09/06/2008 1:17:08 PM

This is what's so upsetting since the Palin nomination. Battle lines have been drawn between red and blue like I haven't seen in a long time. I'm an Obama supporter, but I'm trying to learn all I can about Palin to make sure I'm not judging her unfairly. But I can't judge ANYTHING until we hear from her. Her compelling story is just not enough for me to let her govern our nation. Is that book-banning story true? How does she feel about illegal immigration? the drug war? Her family life is her business and I think it's cool that she hunts and fishes. Just please let us see her before she spends a month in a bunker being poisoned by Karl Rove.

I challenge everyone to demand from the media that Sarah Palin be interviewed, and now. And not by Fox or MSNBC, either. Have her on Meet the Press -that's what all the other candidates do.

I believe only we've getting to know her is the only way to get the vitriol out of this election and move on with what really matters.

  • Posted By: OscarP @ 09/06/2008 1:16:44 PM

Now you need Hillary? Now Hillary can speak on behalf of women? Give me a break !!! Hillary should take a long vacation and should not be disturbed by those who attacked her and now so desperately need her. I guess you have some dignity left, but I see that when political gains are involved, there is no human dignity or respect. You should have stood up to Hillary when the media and Obama's supporters were so against her, but perhaps you did not have the courage to do it. So now, just let him fly solo, and leave Hillary in peace ! She does not have to fight for a cause that was lost since its own inception. The show is over, the Dem Convention is over and Hillary played her role, I guess she is now even !

Hillary's in a tough spot. No doubt she both resents Obama and realizes that Palin has probably ended her 2012 viability.

Hillary needed to do very well among conservative women to make up for those who were alienated and angered by the later stages of her campaign and her kitchen sink/ Tonya Harding/ southern strategy.

Hillary won't take those women from Palin. Sarah changes everything.

    Hopefully Hillary will still contribute.

  • Posted By: paris1969 @ 09/06/2008 1:14:40 PM

Hillary Clinton has already done far and above what is necessary for her to do for the Obama Campaign. The far-left-wing-Democrats "selected" Obama ... and Obama selected Biden. Done! Hillary must now do her work to elect other Democrats to Congress and the Senate ... she is not part of the Obama Campaign. And I am praying that she will run in 2012 and become our greatest President in history!

  • Posted By: LMAO @ 09/06/2008 10:43:03 AM

Who speaks for women? In case you miss it Gov. Sarah Palin is more woman than you snobs can ever hope to be. Somewhere in your unenlightened soul there is a tiny voice that is saying to you that this is a woman who did not wait passively for Hope and Change to descend from on high (via the likes of Obama). Rather she set about effecting Change to bring Hope to the masses. The type of folks we need in Washington.

And just to add salt to your wounded pride, Palin do not just speak for us women only. She speaks to the Common Man (a much bigger constituency) letting them know loud and clear that they too can be part of the decision making process. So rather than be dismissive of her you should be so proud that finally one of us (by her many acts) transcended the gender divide. In one fell swoop she has united us to focus on our Common Destiny of moving the US forward. She is a crystal clear mirror that allows folks to the see Obama???s utter shallowness. What a huge win for feminists!

Move over Patti Davis (and other of your ilk) - you guys are making asses of yourself (and of woman in general). The men that read your dribble are probably scratching their heads and saying: We always knew women are not fit to lead because they are so irrational. They are right folks of you are not leaders. But Palin is clearly a Leader for the Ages. And if Hillary is a woman of insight she knows it too.

    • Posted By: WasHRCnowPalin @ 09/06/2008 10:53:44 AM

I agree. Sarah is an example of someone who actually drives change.... not just believes in it!!!

      Go Sarah!!

      • Posted By: wellladeeda @ 09/06/2008 11:05:58 AM

And you know this from 6 days and a single pre-written speech that was revised to add in some of her personal information? Just admit that you'd rather choose an inexperienced, barely educated white woman over an inexperienced, extremely educated black man based on your own prejudices instead of wanting someone fresh and new. All Palin has proved is that her stint as a journalist prepared her ability to master a teleprompter with the best of them.

        • Posted By: LMAO @ 09/06/2008 1:10:38 PM

No I read her record back in April PLUS I have friends who live there. The media is trying a senseless hatchet job.

  • Posted By: LA Woman @ 09/06/2008 1:08:18 PM

Dear Ms. Davis: You do not speak for me, a woman who has raised 4 children and worked full time. I respect Ms. Palin and believe she has given a voice to many milllion American women. She has demonstrated her choice in how many children she has, how she raises her family and her career.
That Ms. Davis, is what we women have been fighting for all these years.

  • Posted By: Wolfin @ 09/06/2008 1:08:05 PM

The more posts I read, the more I realize that liberal women feel helpless. Why else would you need Hillary to speak for you. Hell, speak for yourself! You are not helpless victims with nothing to look forward to. We live in the greatest country in the world, and I for one, will make it regardless of who wins. If Obama wins, it will be harder, but I will still survive and flourish. I believe that Palin is such a breath of fresh air because she's a doer, not a whiner. She makes her own way. No one needs to come to her rescue. Get tough ladies and make your own way!

  • Posted By: HarleyDavidson @ 09/06/2008 1:07:44 PM

Hillary help? Have you forgotten so soon? Palin did not dump Hillary, Obama did! Palin did not toss aside 18 million Hillary voices, Obama did! Palin did not belittle Hillary's clothes, her laugh, her tears, her hopes, her dreams, Obama and his thugs did! I know I was there every day fighting against the Obama thugs who said Hillary murdered Vince Foster, made money on drugs, cheated on her husband, and on and on and on. Now I'm going to fight FOR Sarah Palin because I see the same garbage happening to Palin. Go, Sarah, go! Hillary don't lift a finger to help that bunch of thugs. Ypou know them and I know what you had to deal with. We know.

  • Posted By: mmlucas @ 09/06/2008 1:05:26 PM

I agree that the best person to become President should be Hillary Clinton. Unfortunaltely the Democratic Party selecfted Obama who my estimation was the wrong canditdate becasue he is a neophyte who will more harm then good. Hillary does not owe the Democratic Party anything.. My wife and I are Independents who will cast our vote for McCain but select Democrats for Congress,

  • Posted By: dtinfrisco @ 09/06/2008 1:04:43 PM

You said, "We do not see rudeness and snarkiness and sarcasm as admirable; in fact, most women teach their children not to treat others in that manner, and they tend to steer clear of adults who never learned that lesson." You said this after what Clinton did? What a hypocrite.
