I am nothing like Sarah Palin, And I would never raise my two daughters to be a woman like her . I agree she is a smug nasty person ! If she wanted to impress women voters she should have talked about issues that matterto famlies but I guess kids can't vote so whats the point in wasting time on their issues. I guess it's best to attack when you don't have any sort of a plan ,one can always ad lib once one gets in office after all GW did!!!!

      Dear bluetw011,
I love Sarah Palin. I've been watching and researching her since about April or May. I was so hoping she'd be chosen, just didn't think McCain would have the balls to do it. Hooray for him!!!!! She's impressed more female voters than you can possibly imagine. Many women who didn't like Hillary or politics are now on fire. She did talk about issues that matter to my family. Kid issues - most parents can take care of their own children's issues. That's why they are the parents. She wasn't nasty or smug, she was/is brilliant!.

And to those of you who keep calling her education in question, please explain. Not only does she have a formal education, she also has common sense. And I've known too many "highly educated folks like lawyers" who don't have sense enough to get in our of the rain.

      • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 09/06/2008 1:03:32 PM

Well, why don't you mention just what her education is, if you think it's sufficient. She has much less than George W. Bush, isn't that right? She has a 4 year degree in Journalism. Not political science, not history, not even business. At least Bush has an MBA (they say he does anyway).

I don't care how "smart" she is, or what a great "mother " she is (altho that may be in question, with a pregnant daughter and having kids this late in life who more prone to being disabled...is that fair to the CHILD? It's not like she didn't already have children, Yes, these choices COULD be construed as selfish or poor planning). Even if she's "smart," it's not the same as studying the Constitution or constitutional LAW at Harvard. Or writing actual laws. Or srategically planning and running a gigantic 50-state presidential campaign for as long as she's been governor of 600,000 people. It's not like running for and beating the CLINTON machine that has prepared for Hillary's run for 20 years. I doubt if there's a whole lot of Dem competition in Alaska anyway. Aren't they pretty much all gun lovers and right wingers?

    • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 09/06/2008 12:27:44 PM

I don't know if Sarah is smug and nasty, but I certainly agree we don't know NEARLY enough about her yet. If she wants to run for the second highest position in the free world, she really needs to make herself available to answer the tough questions, just like Obama has for nearly two years. WHY is she hiding? SHe can't hide forever.

And if you're really wondering where Hillary is, she's off dodging sniper fire in Bosnia

Apparently everyone missed Hillary's statement on No how, no way, no mccain-palin ... it was quoted in MSNBC's first read. She made it clear that Sarah Palin doesn't represent the kind of values Hillary Clinton has fought for - McCain-Palin doesn't support equal pay for equal work or a woman's right to choose ... or numerous other causes that Hillary has fought for. Here is the first read post: http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/09/04/1351761.aspxhttp://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/09/04/1351761.aspxhttp://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/09/04/1351761.aspx

And are you saying that Hillary's value is universal? Do you think Hillary owns 18 million votes? Do you think we supported Hillary just because she was a woman? No we felt she was better qualified. And I think Gov. Palin has more real accomplishments in serving the good of society that Obama. I wilud feel more secure with this sensible woman in charge than Obam who has to reflect on things. Let him be a philosopher but he ain't no leader.

I do not know about the rest of you, I am a Man, and I mean that in the truest sense of the word. I am absent bravado, absent a 'Rule over your wife mentality' because I have been married awhile and marriage is symbionic in nature, not master servant. I am celebrating the diversity that Mrs. Palin is bringing to this race. Did not women fight for equal rights as men? Within that equal rights matrix is the right to tote shotguns, throw back shots of liquor (as Hillary did), hang animal heads on her wall, through out attacks on her opponents, etc, right? Mrs. Palin is a real woman with real problems! Celebrate that because even IF she disgusts you, she, as you, are a product of 200 years of the fight for women's rights and as an African-American, I understand a little bit.

As usual, more double standard talk from the left. When Hiliary was "rude and snarky and sarcastic" with Obama did you call her out like you are with Ms. Palin.. Sorry, but you have no moral authority to try and put words into Hiliary's mouth. This was a letter for the local newspaper, not on a national website.

  • Posted By: JanieD @ 09/06/2008 12:58:33 PM

"We do not see rudeness and snarkiness and sarcasm as admirable" Oh, you mean like Hillary Clinton? Yep, that describes her perfectly ;) As for Hillary, she's off dodging sniper fire in Bosnia :D

"We do not see rudeness and snarkiness and sarcasm as admirable" Oh, you mean like Hillary Clinton?? Talk about a snarky, nasty, arrogant sarcastic b***h! Thank GOD she is GONE. Hopefully NEVER to return.

Let me get this right. First, Senator Obama didn't need Hillary because he didn;t select her for his VP. Then, he spent months bashing the Democrats that supported her. Then, these same pople that want Hillary's help stood silent while she faced the onslaught of sexism and misognmy. Then right after the primaries we were told to either, "fall in line" or "stay at home." The Democrats showed where they stood for women, now all of a sudden they need us.
This is too funny. I heard that Obama no longer has the 50 state strategy. He is going to have to struggle to take states like OH, PA, IN, and KY. Those are states Hillary kicked his a** in. I have my popcorn ready and have started watching the show.
This Hillary Clinton supporter is now voting McCain/Palin 08

  • Posted By: Kitty Hawk @ 09/06/2008 12:53:20 PM

The writer seems to have forgotten that Senator Clinton fired her own barbs at Obama and other Democratic and Republican primary candidates. Before you criticize, commentators, make sure you look at all candidates actions and judge all by the same standards.

McCain and Palin are so correct in pointing out that Washington is broken. Governmental officials, newspeople, and others seem to be intrenced in their own ideologies and personal/professional/party aspirations that they have FORGOTTEN that they are supposed to be working for the welfare of the entire United States of America. Sniping, holding up legislation and appointments, etc. only serve to halt or delay very necessary business that the PEOPLE of America need to have completed.

I'm voting for McCain/Palin anticipating that they can get the government back on track to work FOR the people of the U.S.A.

So now we know that Hillary has the ideals we should strive for in a female President? If so, how come we did not pick her for VP (at the least). And by the way I was so hurt at how she was treated I sat in bed and cried rather than watch that over-inflated egotist accept an undeserved nomination. And my friends were mad because after all we are all black folks together. But I have principles and my conscience to live with. I said to them in my world I value Fairness ahead of my Blackness.

And a day later whilst getting my mammogram I asked the black technician if she did not think Hillary should be on the ticket. Her response was very cutting: He (Obama) do not need Hillary to win. She felt free to speak to me as I share the same skin color. Mind you, a couple of hours earlier MCCain announced Palin was his VP choice. So tell me what have changed since last week to make you all suddenly appreciate Hillary?

Well in case you guys do not get it Palin cuts across gender lines and touches the hearts of common folks. I will actively work to make sure that McCain/Palin makes it to Washington. McCain in his waning days will have the fortitude to do what is right as opposed to what is popular. We need him to set the tone for the future by reaching out to both Republicans and Democrats (no idle boast as he has that track record).

It is time we put Country First. McCain/Palin 2008

  • Posted By: Mollari567 @ 09/06/2008 12:51:00 PM

Oh god, she was passed over, bruised in the primaries and mistreated by the Chicago style political machine with a good face campaign of Obama. She's in upstate New York designing Hillary 2012 posters, and I for one, will be voting for her on her next campaigns. In the meantime, let Obama crash and burn and send him the way of those fake columns at the convention. months ago when it

we will hear loud and clear from Senator Hillary Clinton that the McCain/Palin ticket will not do what is necessary in leading our country. Yes some women are snarky, as are men, but that doesn't mean i want a snarky woman as vice president.
Palin is attractive, and has great delivery - it is her message and her goals for this country that I severely disagree with, as I disagree with McCain.
And it is not disrespectful of McCain's time as a POW to say that that experience does not give you the ticket to the White House, just as being one of the Keating Five doesn't necessary keep out out of the White House. It is the direction of his leadership that I am opposed to!

    • Posted By: LMAO @ 09/06/2008 12:50:28 PM

You must be naive to imagine that the Democrats would have anything good to say about McCain/Palin. So who is being politics as usual? Well this is what folks see - a man who claims to be a maverick who wants to Reform Washington. And in keeping with that image he selected a person who have already made some headway in recognizing the issues of the day and addressing it.

On the democratic side by selecting Biden Obama shows he is simply a politician who wants to do the safe thing by picking someone that will not cause the Establishment undue stress. That is he is less about Change and more about winning.

And that my friend is what folks see when they look at McCain/Palin - a team that walks the talk of Reform. So who do you vote for? The Political Hack? or the Sincere Reformer? That is the choice in 2008.

Sarah Palin will attract alot of women AND men. I have talked to dozens of guys that just love her. She's beautiful, still has sex with her husband after 20 years of marriage, is smart as a whip, looks like a real woman AND knows how to bait her own hook and kill and dress a moose. I wonder if Obama knows how to bait his own hook. Bet not as he's such a "girly" man.

    • Posted By: WasHRCnowPalin @ 09/06/2008 12:37:36 PM

What Obama needs is a Dukakis moment... could you see him in a red hunters hat, plaid short, big boots with a rifle?

Somebody advise him it would be a good idea.... quick!!

    • Posted By: musselmanm @ 09/06/2008 12:32:12 PM

Wolfin, are you a young boy or uneducated or elitist?
Killing a moose, having sex? You are really a poor excuse for a thinking human!

      • Posted By: Wolfin @ 09/06/2008 12:49:56 PM

Why don't you read the entire post.....word for word. I'm educated (not Ivy League), have common sense, run my own business, have a happy marriage. And what's wrong with killing a moose? My guess is you are 1) vegetarian, which I have no problem with or 2) you're one of those who thinks meat comes in a plastic wrapper, complete with hormones and antibiotics. I just love the personal attacks. Keep 'em coming, especially Sarah Palin's way. Everytime you people attack her, it secures another vote for the ticket. You people just don't get it and never will.

I agree that Hillary is the best choise to be President but the Democrats selected Obama who my estimation is a neophyte and knows nothing. I don't think Hillary owes anything to the Democratic Part with the treatment she received. My sife and I are Independents who supported Hillary in spirit and with donations and will split our ballot by voting for McCain

  • Posted By: Kitty Hawk @ 09/06/2008 12:47:48 PM

The writer seems to have forgotten that Senator Clinton threw her own barbs at Obama and other Democratic opponents during the primary season. Before you start being critical, commentators, be sure to look at all of the facts and actions of all candidates.

For those angry and disgruntled Hillary supporters that are looking forward to 2012. Do you realize the collateral damage another republican can do in just four years? What does it take for you to get it? While you're waiting for Hillary to come in and save the world YOUR job could get shipped overseas, YOUR sons and daughters could be fighting and dying in another senseless war, YOUR daughters might lose their right to choose when Roe vWade is overturned, YOU could easliy be paying 8.00 a gallon for gas, YOU may lose your employer sponsored medical care or be forced to pay for the majority of it, YOU will have to pay skyrockety prices for basic food items, YOUR life could take a terrible turn for the worse in just 4 years under John McCain. What's worse, you dont understand the republicans are depending on people like YOU to win the white house. They know that as long as we're divided we won't win. Not in 2008 and NOT IN 2012 EITHER!

  • Posted By: HoosierD @ 09/06/2008 12:43:19 PM

I have a notion that the conservative white, or black for that matter, have instructed thier wives how to vote. I agree with you about where were we when we had the chance (to vote for her). I can't help but think that this was gendercide (?) through influence of people in both parties. They have left us with no choices.

  • Posted By: MortyR @ 09/06/2008 12:26:54 PM

I second the motion. Hillary, I truly hope you're listening. We need your help. We've worked so hard for this. Let's not blow it in the last five minutes.

I feel your pain, Patti, but Obama is toast now and Hillary is not riding in to save the day. Governor Palin is the definition of feminist before liberal politics bastardized that concept. She is not afraid to look like a woman, she's a wife and mother who celebrates life, and she has a demanding job. Men and women all across America identify with her and with John McCain. They do not want and will not elect a Marxist.

I would say to the women who are asking where is Hillary , I would say where were you when you had a chance to vote for her.
