Come Novemebr we will see how many PUMAs there really are. Maybe Hillary should have been on the ticket after all. Do not be surprised if Biden is forced off and Hillary is on. But that is a little to late since Gov. Sarah Palin plays well with both male and female - she attracts the Common Man. The one that Obama was fighting for until a real Common Man (Sarah) stepped forward. So now he is fighting the cause of the Elites - those who believe they are the ones best educated to get the job done. Mind you, they have had their day and have not delivered. Let us send Gov. Palin to Washinton to get the job done. She certainly made a good start in Alaska.

It does seem somewhat interesting to hear all the concern on the part of Patti Davis. There is clearly a large amount of speculation is in her comments. I believe assumption is also there in large quantity. Rather than throw you're negative comments about Sarah Palin and "all women", why not stop assuming the worst, and embrace "change" like the rest of us realistic voters across our country today. When you state "We need you (Hillary) to make clear that women do not automatically judge someone because of gender; we are more concerned with the quality of their character and the depth and breadth of their experience. Once again, it is a comfort to see a strong voice out there that is willing to stand up to special interest and the establishment and I believe it is entirely overdue.

Your comments are nothing but an example of more Democratic rhetoric and an absurd assumption that all women think the way you do. I believe you will be surprised to see that, in fact, this is not the case. You should stop trying to focus on "women" and try to discuss knowledgeably about the critical issues that should and will be confronted by Sarah Palin.

I appreciate your comments, however, you will do much more good if you stopped spouting your Democratic platform lines, and focused on what it takes to bring this country forward to where it should be, out of the hands of special interest groups, such as pro-choice groups like the one your supporting. In the end, you do yourself and others a great disservice by your one-sided comments and your failure to effectively provide suggestions that are truly helpful, instead of lopsided.

I hope you can stop using this venue to continue your personal points of view, and try instead to be more positive about how to bring forward effective change for all.

    Thanks again for your comments.

PLEASE do your research and find out what the candidates have done for the good of the masses-not jus tor themselves. Actions speak louder than words. Health care costs tens of thousands of dollars, college and other further ed costs tens of thousands of dollars, retirement costs tens of thousands of dollars---we need to vole fot those who consistently respect the rights of individuals while using their power for GOOD--a $2000 tax relief check robs our country of the assets needed have real quality of life choices. Keep your $1200 check, Gov. Palin, unless you'd like us to use it to wear glasses like yours--it won't don anything for my family and our future.

      How's the kool-aid?

  • Posted By: tjb0728 @ 09/06/2008 12:13:53 PM

Four democratic women who have been very loyal to the democrats in my own family are proudly supporting Palin, not because she's a woman, but, because she didn't ride anyone's coattails into office, she believes in God, and in family, and because when Obama and the media tried to destroy her and her family she fought back. Call it snarky, middle America sees it as tough. Obama is dangerous, too inexperience, and a scary proposition for America and the entire world. I'm so proud of McCain for being man enough to identify in Palin a woman who can lead!

  • Posted By: women_for_america @ 09/06/2008 12:13:36 PM

If Democrats were serious about equality of women (rather than just pushing abortion), they would have asked Obama to pick Hillary as Vice President. They wouldn't have coerced her "out" of the ticket. Now they want her to campaign for Obama.....??? If McCain had picked someone other than Sarah Palin, Hillary would have been forgotten by now. Suddenly the likes of Patti Davis, now need Hillary again - only this time to cut the chances of another woman reaching for the heights.

If abortion was taken out the picture, all Democrat arguments against Sarah Palin would fall flat on their face. Women of America are being held hostage by the abortion lobby.

Wake up! Don't let anyone play this game again!

    AMEN! GREAT article!

  • Posted By: modoquasi @ 09/06/2008 12:11:40 PM

Has anyone seen Hillary, OR BILL out there promoting Obama's campaign? Of course not. And you're naive if you think they will make an all out effort to help.

As aone, who votes with conscience and heart -- not because of party, gender or color, I am truely happy to see two people who are not of the 'SAM|E OLD" Washington establishment. MCCAIN and PALIN. (This is as close to a third party as we can get right now ---- which America needs desperately). We need a complete change in WASHINGTON and also in the Congress! We need representatives from all walks of life We do not need any more Lawyers regulating and laying down the law, who do it for their own gain.. Too much govenment is stifling!,Look at the third world countries. Those dear people.are taxed into poverty and their leaders are getting fat on monies which should be helping the people. Why should they be creative, imaginative, or hard working --- their profit and hard work will only be turned over to the government. That is what one of the candiates is proposing.. Do you truly want this for AMERICA? Poeple weak and government strong.
We need teachers, farmers, community leaders, factory workers,, doctors, accountants, and Yes --Home Makers as leaders in our governement!!!!! making decisions and making our country stronger. ( Yes, a mother can get tough when it is in defense of her children - way to go Sarah). And that is what this years election comes down to. What are we leaving for our posterity and how will we protect them from the evils that Washington is handing down to them?
. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!! I hope that we will stop fighting and thinking only Party and ourselves, for this is not about US. This is about the next generations and keeping AMERICA strong and free!!!!!.

Which is more normal? A life in a small town, with a card-carrying union member husband working multiple jobs, being in the PTA, and enjoying the environment or two lawyers scheming to have political power to reconstruct the nation in their vision and becoming multi-millionaires in the process. Gee, this is a toughie. There is an old political saying related to how something would play in Peoria. Well, I doubt Illinois and Alaska have had much in common since the last Ice Age, but the lady formerly from Idaho looks like she has more of the middle America values than the former resident of Arkansas has, particularly since Hillary did the reverse carpetbag of moving to the anti-Middle America - New York City.

Hillary is eerily silent at a time when she needs to be the MOST PASSIONATE for women and the poor and middle america. Where is Bill. Is he on vacation.
People are still thinking that the Clintons really don't care about us, they are only in it to fulfill their political ambitions. Could they be right?
    That they

What is so funny about this article, is that Ronald Reagans embarassment of a daughter assumes that all women will fall in behind Hillary, and why? Because she is a woman.

You just don't get it and that is why you continue to loose national elections

  • Posted By: dkblueyedman @ 09/06/2008 12:04:50 PM

biggest joke of the year: Obama will provide health insurance for everyone and for those who already have insurance, your insurance premiums will be lowered. A fantasy world of something for nothing. Guess thats why so much of our country pours money into lotteries. Not much difference between our current state of government and gambling. Most lose but a few win....go Obama and Biden! They'll bring real change right? 8 years of Bush followed by Obama is going to leave us all in a pit that we'll never escape. Oh is only Hilary had saved us all........

I am a woman, and I'm happy not to hear from Hillary. She may be eloquent with her words, but she does not have the right intentions. Please, she's from the Washington elite with the same old rhetoric. It's refreshing and invigorating that an unknown woman had the drive, the passion to do what is right, and arrived at this moment in time. The courage, the strength, the integrity to stand up for what is right, the true meaning of servitude for this country is what makes the Republican ticket undeniably the right one for this country.

The democrats have been in control of the US Congress for two years, that's the branch that makes all the laws, which creates all the changes that the democrats want to make.
My question is Obama going to do all he says he is going to do when he could not nor has been able to do as a senator.

You know, talk, negotiate, bring everyone togeter, etc. to bring about change.

    • Posted By: dzemog @ 09/06/2008 12:03:41 PM

It's only partly true that the Dems control congress. They control the House of Representatives 233 vs 202, but are dead even in the Senate with 49 each (final 2 are Independents). As anyone knows, bills have to pass both houses. There have been numerous bills put forth by the Dems that passed the House, but were stalled or rejected by the Senate. And we all know what happens when a Dem bill miraculously makes it through both houses. Our esteemed President, GW Bush, proceeds to veto it. Half a Congress and a President working against you is called Bush '00 and Bush '04. If we elect McCain, you can add McCain '08 to the list.

You'll judge Sarah Palin's ability to be a role model based on the behavior of her daughter? Seems we're forgetting what a certain someone's HUSBAND was doing at work when he was president...

  • Posted By: dkblueyedman @ 09/06/2008 11:59:31 AM

Why does an Obama idea of giving two rebate checks from the Government in 1 year make sense, but a tax relief check from big oil is a scam?

  • Posted By: nancylee2008 @ 09/06/2008 11:56:13 AM

I don't think it is Clinton's responsiblity to come out and take on Palin . Remember Clinton is not on Obama's ticket. I am also upset to see Palin is in the game now. The surge of her presence is a threat to Democratic party's bit for the whitehouse. There will absolutely be no Palin if Hillary were Obama's running mate. Hillary could come out and campaign for democratic party as a whole but it is Obama's team's responsiblity to take on Palin. I am not sure if Obama has made a huge mistake by underminding 18 millions clinton's supporters. Who knew how many of them were independent or Republic voters? I clearly remember Obama's people said they could win without those swing states that Hillary won..... These people are clearly rookies in running the most important campaign for the highest level. With the presence of Palin in this game, there might not any more purple states which can be truned blue.

I really very much agree. This is a perfect opportunity for Hillary to provide a rebuttal to Ms. Palin's mean-spirited remarks this last week at the Republic Natl'l Convention. I hope she will be willing to overlook her disappointing loss and step up to the plate on this. I don't see Sarah Palin as a positive role model at all. Neither is her pregnant 17 yr. old daughter.

Thank you, Patti Davis! I've been thinking this all week, and my daughters and every woman I know has been thinking and talking about it as well. You've given us a voice - let's hope Hillary reads your column quickly and gets back out into the public realm. Last week's convention was absolutely dumbfounding - and scary!

Hilary was the queen of sarcasm and diviseness. Have you been lost your hearing? True leaders and statesman such as Diane Feinstein will continue to be ignored and minimized by a party looking for celebrity.
