I don't think it is Clinton's responsiblity to come out and take on Palin . Remember Clinton is not on Obama's ticket. I am also upset to see Palin is in the game now. The surge of her presence is a threat to Democratic party's bit for the whitehouse. There will absolutely be no Palin if Hillary were Obama's running mate. Hillary could come out and campaign for democratic party as a whole but it is Obama's team's responsiblity to take on Palin. I am not sure if Obama has made a huge mistake by underminding 18 millions clinton's supporters. Who knew how many of them were independent or Republic voters? I clearly remember Obama's people said they could win without those swing states that Hillary won..... These people are clearly rookies in running the most important campaign for the highest level. With the presence of Palin in this game, there might not any more purple states which can be truned blue.

You do not speak for all women because you follow blindly at Hillary feet. What has she done in 14 years in the limelight but fail at every thing she does.

As Tom Delay said, "Please, media, keep it up!".

What is up with McCain? Now he has to travel with TWO women in order to speak passionately about nothing, except his POW experience. Palin is being used as a puppet reading a speech that was written by a Bush writer before she (Palin) was chosen. When will she be allowed to speak unscripted? She is not a politician and probably has no knowledge of the issues. Hillary was not protected from anyone. Of course, she is definitely not as capable as Hillary. McCain probably chose Palin so she can holler and scream from a scrip. Is she under a contract and plans to return to her family in the near future? If that happens, then the RNC will allow McCain to choose who he really wants as his VP. This is so sad because we need real change in the USA. People are losing jobs everyday. Crime is up due in no small part to unemployment. People are losing their homes. The whole world is watching us to see if we can get this right.

We need a president who has good judgement and does not make hasty decisions. The thought of four more years of the current failed policies is disturbing. My prayer is that the majority of Americans will realize that Palin/McCain ticket offers more of the same that we have endured over the last 8 years..

    Communicate that for me, Hillary.

Bottom line is Patti Davis is playing the role of the traditional faithful woman in the Democratic Party... supporting the party line and settling for a few scraps of legislation that is supposed to keep us in line.

Obama has shown his true colors once again... his strategy in this campaign is clearly against women gaining the big prize... to lead this great country.. so he has deployed a two-fold strategy "Lay Down and Stay Down". The Lay Down part he pulled on Hillary and reluctantly she complied when she yielded her votes to him. She should never have done that... if she had stuck by her guns she would be on the ticket... but she understandably was coerced by insiders of hte party she devoted her life to. The Stay Down is Obama's strategy against Sarah Palin... she won't won't lay down so he will do everything with the help of his cronies (the Obamedia) to keep her down. But he has a problem....she still is standing! And so now he will resort to the most PATHETIC tactics.. he will ask the woman he laid down to attack the woman who won't stay down!!!

What does that say about his choice of Joe Biden???!!?? He can't handle Sarah either!!

If neither of these jokers can handle that "little inexperienced unqualified hockey-mom" from that "little town in that sparely populated remote state called Alaska".... then will someone please explain to me how the community organizer who wants to be commander-in-chief is going to handle rogue nations and terrorists?

Hillary was right.. and so was Joe Biden... Barack Obama is not ready to lead. If he or his VP pick cannot convince us that he is the right person then he should step aside and let Hillary have a go!!!

    Go Sarah!!! Stay the course!!

I agree. If Democrats were serious about equality of women (rather than just pushing abortion), they would have asked Obama to pick Hillary as Vice President. They wouldn't have coerced her "out" of the ticket. Now they want her to campaign for Obama.....If McCain had picked someone other than Sarah Palin, Hillary would have been forgotten by now. Suddenly the likes of Patti Davis, now need Hillary again - only this time to cut the chances of another woman reaching the heights.

If abortion was taken out the picture, all Democrat arguments against Sarah Palin would fall flat on their face. Women of America are being held hostage by the abortion lobby.

Wake up! Don't let anyone play this game again!

Powerful stuff! Will the real Hillary stand up and be counted. The irony of the Palin appearance on the stage is not only that she freely throws rude zingers at men (at Obama, for instance), but that Obama is not able to respond in kind for fear of alienating women voters. So she has free rein! If this is not unfair, I don't know what is? Furthermore, she says her family is off limit; but she makes family the critical point of her introduction to national politics. And let's we forget, she preaches a brand of family values that is quite radical in its opposition that all that a Hillary Clinton would have stood for. She is having it both ways! Therefore, where is Hillary to authenticate her claim that she is in it for helping to determine "where America goes from here"? Finally, Palin and McCain are no reformers but charlatans--even hypocrites, judging by their current politics. Until most members of the media get it in their head that McCain has thrown his idealism and the maverick past down the window, we are in trouble--because they are not doing their job. They should have seen what is happening, and called it like it is. Palin and McCain have become partners marching to the Karl Rove tunes of menacing politics. After Palin's big speech, what next? And does it (should it) matter? Palin has not answered specifically to many allegations or scandals swirling around her nor has she addressed any of the real issues of this campaign. Instead, she comes blazing with negative attacks and pleading that she be considered fit for the job simply because she is a woman who is your ???average hockey mom.??? With that any woman can be Vice-President or even President. Left behind in this calculation are women who are truly qualified for the job???K. Baily Hutchinson,e.g.! Palin felt able to compare her competency and background with that of Obama--a Harvard-educated lawyer chosen by his Party (not by one man) who served eight years in the Illinois Senate, is serving in the Senate as a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, has managed a very successful campaign and is received enthusiastically within the United States and around the world. I can't believe it. The only way Palin is better than Obama is gutter talk! Because Palin delivered a good speech written for her by Bush-Rove divisive dark operators, that suddenly eliminates the concern we should all have about her qualification to be a potential Commander-in-Chief? If the media caves with feelings of guilt, we are done as a democracy and the most powerful nation on earth. At its best, the media stands as a sentinel of freedom. This campaign should be about facts (see the AP fact check on the RNC, Sep. 4/08), truth and issues, not personalities and personal attack. An uneducated electorate wielding a vote is a danger to democracy. That is why we have often elected the wrong people, for the wrong reasons and times.

Right on Patti. You are speaking for all of us who immediately saw the absence of knowledge in a candidate hastily placed for the " Hillary Women." For the Republican Party to put an unqualified woman on their ticket just to try to get our votes is insulting! This woman stands for everything that we are trying to overcome: 1) Anti-abortion, 2) Intent to overturn Roe vs. Wade, 3)Supports drilling, 4) and along with McCain, she indicates that she plans to support most of Bush's policies. We have all seen the country go downhill during this last eight years, and most of us feel that "Enough is enough!"

    • Posted By: ihateeveryoneincludingyou @ 09/05/2008 11:01:39 PM

Oh, please. I'm pro-choice and I'm sick and tired of hearing about Roe v. Wade. If you want my vote, you better care about more than just what may or may not be in my uterus. Besides, I've been hearing about how it has been in danger of being overturned since, what, the Reagan years? Come up with a new scare tactic. It ain't working any more.

      • Posted By: zinka @ 09/06/2008 11:45:41 AM

I agree with you. I to am tired of hearing about Roe V Wade. Now in Colorado they are try to the ferturlized declared a personhood. Sheeh. Hillary has never been for anyone but herself, everything she has done has been done for her and her alone. I really dislike people who assume everyone feels as they do, not of them do. As always just my opinion.

I would like to thank "Ms." Davis and her elite media friends for all they do for McCain and Palin. Keep these opinions coming so the country will be pushed into voting vote McCain - Palin.

In some ways, I long for the days of no Internet & no television. I long for the days when the radio addresses were all you could tune in to, or newspaper articles. Where you could turn off your eyes and only hear the candidates. (Although that wouldn't work in this race, unless their were substitute voices.)

Voting shouldn't be based on race. It shouldn't be based on gender. And despite advances, voting will be based on race and gender. To believe otherwise is naive and foolish. Just vote your conscience and leave mine out of it.

America rejected Hillary Clinton and the women of her "kind" (like the author of this manipulative article). A woman's character forms the bedrock of any society. America has been waiting for the "right" woman to emerge and take the center stage - not just "any" woman. In Sarah Plain, we have found the right Woman. The character and life of Sarah Palin is representative of American women more than that of elitist Hillary Clinton's. Infact Sarah Palin's life is representative of the women across the globe.
Women are emotional, but they are smart. They can see through when someone is exploiting their emotions to further their own narrow political agenda. Try again Patti Davis!

  • Posted By: maxwelljer@msn.com @ 09/06/2008 11:38:58 AM

Sarah Palin is another smug example of the last eight years. No accountability. Above the law and above the American people. Please investigate the candidates and expose all and everything in order for America to get it right this time. America does not deserve to continue the policies of the last eight years. The world does not deserve it. Help us to restore our strength and example of our honor throughout the world.

Health care costs tens of thousands of dollars, college and other further ed costs tens of thousands of dollars, retirement costs tens of thousands of dollars---we need to vole fot those who consistently respect the rights of individuals while using their power for GOOD--a $2000 tax relief check robs our country of the assets needed have real quality of life choices. McCain didn't mention one time the veterans but we sure heard about his POW experience - from 30 years ago! Funny how McCain NEVER mentioned his POW experiences before he ran for President. He used to be a humble man. Not anymore! He's totally ignorant if he thinks Americans will vote him into office based on him having gone through a POW experience 30 years ago. The RNC didn't give us any concrete plans regarding how they would make changes in Washington. And no matter which way you try to spin it, Sarah Palin is a naive and inexperienced woman who happens to have some stage poise. My vote still goes to
    Obama/Biden.

    Dear Patti,

It would be nice if you would just speak for your self rather than assume that you speak for all of the "Hillary" women. Many of us are furious with that kind of assumption. We are strong women that can make up our own minds. I have not read anywhere, other than biased liberal commentators, that that was even an assumption of Palen's. If Hillary had some of Palen's attributes this would be a different election. Let's stop the biased and rather obvious political pontificating and deal in relaities. Let's be frank ,neither candidate will accomplish anything unless the congress acts. We had the congress but accomplished NOTHING. Time to stop blaming and take ownership.

Former Democrat ... tired of all talk and no action ... spend, spend, spend.

It seems to me that this piece is "rude, snarky and sarcastic." Just as you have your views, there are people who have the opposite. I accept that I don't agree with you and you have every right to your opinion. Why can't you accept the same for me? I think it is laughable that women who supported Clinton would instantly support Palin because of gender--on that we agree. But I find it shocking and terribly sad that my children are watching people refer to Palin in similar ways to your article in the media every day simply because they are from a different political persuasion from her. The men in this election have been very careful to refer to each other in respectful terms, but for some reason, with a woman, that has been ignored. As a working mom I had hoped for better for my country. I have two boys and I don't ever want them to refer to a woman as snarky, rude or sarcastic just because she had the "gall" to dish back to her critics what they had dished to her for days.

    • Posted By: akansan @ 09/06/2008 11:32:40 AM

Well spoken, cmwillia. I wouldn't vote for a woman just because she's a woman, and I wouldn't vote for an African-American (or a German-American, or Italian-American) just because he's African-American or because of the "history" behind it. I'd rather vote for the plain American that represents my beliefs and who will do the job the best. And really, that's what it should have been about in the first place.

  • Posted By: fredf150 @ 09/06/2008 11:31:43 AM

it is hard to believe that woman at this day and time would vote for a woman who believe, that a woman should keep a baby even if she is raped.

  • Posted By: BridgAnn @ 09/06/2008 11:30:25 AM

Ms. Davis, thank you for saying so eloquently what many of us are feeling. I want a woman I can respect to have a shot at the highest office in the land. For many, many reasons, Palin is not that woman.
