What Hillary Should Say Now

Mark Kennedy....IF IT NEVER HAPPENED THERE WOULD BE NO SURGE. McCain's argues that he had the judgment to support sending additional combat troops to Iraq to quell the rise in extremist violence. Fine, the surge was successful and exceeded the expectations of many, however, if our intelligence community spent more time collecting reliable data on Iraq's WMD situation and Saddam's ties to Al'qaeda, we never would have invaded a sovereign country based on lies and conjecture.
McCain wants Obama to acknowledge the success of the surge. I would agree with that request if McCain would acknowledge that invading Iraq was a monumental mistake.
Now to a more serious issue. OBAMA. I am white, my wife is white, my kids are white...you get the picture. I live in the south...as does the rest of my family. I am Republican, so it the rest of my family. I am voting for Obama, so is the rest of my family. Here is what I'm seeing and hearing. Many disgruntled men and women who were big supporters of Hillary are going to place their vote for McCain. They're upset that Obama got the nod. Well I want you to think about this as a mother and father...your 17 or 18 year old child (that will be graduating on 2009 and 2010) will be called by recruiters (I was a Marine Corps Recruiter). We (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps) already have your address

  • Posted By: wildlifeusa @ 09/06/2008 2:34:02 AM

Military Recruiters are at your child???s school, meeting with their teachers, developing contacts, working ???very closely with athletic coaches??? (Recruiters areconstantly looking for strong, athletic and intelligent males). Anyhow, we're going to call your house, we're going to send your kids (again males are the primary target for our advertisements) information about our particular service, we're going to get them in our offices where we use the advanced sales techniques (taught by Achieve Global) and communications skills (taught by Freiberg.com) that we learned in recruiters school (military sales schools that you as a tax payer - paid for) and we're are going to get your kids to enlist. If it's done right, you'll have to admire the skill and cunning with which this happens. (Side note - young men and women in the Delayed Entry Program can terminate their enlistment up until their final oath of enlistment and final signature of enlistment paper is completed at the Military Entrance Processing Station.) Parents, side note for you, Military recruiters are very slick and will use every trick in the book to get you (mom and dad) to sign the enlistment paperwork for your kids. Here was one of my favorite sayings: Mr. and Mrs. Jones...the form you are signing today is authorizing the Army to medically and academically test your child. What they don't tell you is that once your child is done with his academic testing and the physical....your child will immediately be administered the oath of enlistment and will now be part of that services Delayed Entry Program ( for up to one year.) This process usually occurs for high school students between their junior and senior school year. REMEMBER, IF MCCAIN IS ELECTED AND HE HAS A CHANCE...YOUR CHILD WILL BE SENT TO IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN. SO TELL ME...DO YOU HAVE FOND MEMORIES AND LOTS OF PICTURES.
If you are planning to vote for McCain because in your good conscience you can not vote for a black man...GUESS WHAT... OBAMA IS ALSO WHITE. If your vote against Obama is based on race...then you're an ignorant fool and I hope your child has a nice visit with a Marine Recruiter and signs up for the infantry. If you're a Hillary voter...and you will not vote for Obama...well, karma is pretty ruthless...and just think of that house that you'll be foreclosing on because your husband lost his job. A VOTE FOR OBAMA IS A VOTE FOR CHANGE AND AN END TO THE WAR IN IRAQ. A VOTE FOR MCCAIN MEANS FOUR MORE YEARS OF WAR AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHERE YOUR CHILD IS

I think we will be hearing from Hillary very soon. I hope she puts that snarky twit in her place. But of course McCain's camp is not allowing Palin to interact with the media anytime soon because she might make a mistake. Boy for someone that has been claimed to be "ready" they sure need to do alot of prep work.

I am outraged by more former party's uproar about Palin. Here is a woman, who has played it by the book--started local in her community, moved through government to become the youngest governor in the country. Ok so you don't like her politics, you don't like her denomination, does that disqualify her from our admiration. Strong women come on both sides of the aisle. I for one am glad to see another public definition of womanhood. This is one sister who can kill the bacon, bring it home, and cook it. She didn't go to an ivy league school, she helped her husband make a go at it. She is more like us than any other candidate--no fancy lawyer, no PhD, just a woman getting up every day raising her kids and loving her husband. How dare we critique her values..after all I thought the Democratic party was all about choice and freedom. Snarky?! Please. After a weekend of calling her an empty suit, she showed the media she was intelligent, powerful, and nobody's fool. Everytime you people trash her, you only push me closer to her and I have never, ever voted for an republican in my life...

Perhaps Hillary turned down the VP nomination. Could be she's got her eyes on a Cabinet position instead. After all, as a former First Lady, she does have "some" experience in foreign affairs.

Hillary Clinton should be silent as she was not even tough enough to fight for what she was due - the right to be heard at the convention (18,000,000 million votes no less).

To me Palin is like a mirror to the American people to help expose what a fraud Obama really is. I am black and extremely disgusted when my supposedly smart black friends can get beyond blackness and see the Truth. So God made it easier by inspiring McCain to select Sarah. So let me see how many people will flunk this test.

I dare to tell all my friends that Hillary was cheated for I place fainess well ahead of my blackness. And I am proud to say I was not one of the millions who tuned in to watch that Fraud get the nomination. More to the point I have resigned the Democratic Party before I even submitted my membership.

You said it Sistah! Another African American who didn't drink the Koolaid. Hillary owes Barak absolutely nothing and if she does more than her few mandatory campaign spots, I will be disappointed. She begged and pleaded with the democratic party to move beyond its liberal sensibilities by reminding us it is not racist to ask to see someone's resume when they are applying for a job. So now you reap what you sow. You didn't want Hillary then allow BO to rise or fall on his own..after all he is the ONE, surely he will pull off a miracle..then we will all be in trouble.

Maybe McCain will put Hillary on his cabnet. That is why she isn't coming to the rescue. Even if she does come to the rescue Palin would shut her down.

  • Posted By: benjamin.francis @ 09/06/2008 2:14:56 AM

Get over it, she is not going to help the Back Door Dealing piece of trash that stabbed her in the back. I think Hillary is for Palin.

Thanks Patti Davis. This is excellent -- I couldn't have said it better, and I've been trying to write this same letter all day. I have two girls--7 and 4, and I do fear for their future if these reptiles hoodwink the American public again. P.S. I'm a Christian. I love Jesus. I teach my girls that they will be judged by how they treat the least among us.

Are any of you so naive as to believe HIllary really wants Obama to win in November? If he wins, her next presidential bid will be in 2016. If he loses, it's 2012.

  • Posted By: lpgafan @ 09/05/2008 11:44:04 PM

Why didn't Obama choose Hillary as his VP running mate? Ego. He didn't want it to be said that she won the election for him! I, for one, believe that Obama's decision to exclude Clinton as his VP running mate hs ensured his loss in the upcoming election. How does Biden represent "change" (Obama's favorite, albiet never reallyndefined, term for his campaign strategy)?? Biden is old school, and has been part of the problem - he didn't (prior to his VP nod) even support Obama in his bid for the presidential nomination. Biden didn't feel that Obama had the necessary experience. So, dear Democrats and all other sensible, but disappointed Americans, what to do? Vote for McCain or abstain??

Please, I beg of you - do not vote if those are your choices.

  • Posted By: fjstratford @ 09/06/2008 12:31:08 AM

Yes Hillary, You tell the world that the Obama campaign should not vilify simply women because they have ovaries.

  • Posted By: cfwe @ 09/05/2008 11:46:11 PM

I agree with the author. It takes a village to elect a president, and Hillary still has a strong voice to speak out for Obama. She promised to campaign for him. We need her now!

  • Posted By: Wolfin @ 09/05/2008 11:45:28 PM

I love see all the liberals getting their panties in a wad over Palin. Just as Hillary didn't speak for all women, neither will Palin. But any mature women will respect both for their accomplisments and how far they have come.........unless it's not about women but about agendas.

  • Posted By: rjdugone @ 09/05/2008 11:29:14 PM

Hillary has never been sarcastic, delivered zingers or said anything rude when on the campaign? You must be talking about another Hillary Clinton. Strong women should be respected regardless of their political views. I happen to admire Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin--and their political style is more than a little similar.

  • Posted By: ihateeveryoneincludingyou @ 09/05/2008 11:12:09 PM

Hey, Obama is the nominee, not Hillary. If he wanted her to campaign for him that badly, he could have picked her as his VP.

When Carter and Kennedy fought it out in 1980, he didn't expect Kennedy to do his heavy lifting after he won the nomination.

  • Posted By: cgriff1973 @ 09/05/2008 10:57:22 PM

Absolutely spot on letter to Hillary. It's time for her to come back into the spotlight and show America - and America's women - what being "tough" while being a true lady is all about. No speeches dripping sarcasm at the community service record of another, no laughter about shootin' up and field dressin' an old moose or bear. No nasty, mocking humor about people who have worked and volunteered service to those most in need. (Funny - I thought McCain's theme was service - why would all his compatriots then ridicule those who have served?)

It's time for Hillary to come back into the sun and remind 18 million voters why they respected and admired her. Substance and demeanor. Plans and real vision for the country. Her dream of the presidency may be - for now - a dream defered, but her love of this country is real, and I know she wants to see new direction for our leadership. If she comes back to the public eye and really stumps for Obama - it will only make her appeal and her following stronger.

So, Hillary, from a lifelong Republican who sees real quality in you and real vision in Senator Obama - lend your voice. Lend your hand. Don't let the scare tactics and "anti-intellect" ploys of the GOP thwart history.

PS: Ms. Davis - I loved your father and voted for him both times. He was a great man with real vision and an infectious optimism that transformed our country. Please - if you and your brother Ron would ever feel comfortable doing so - it would be powerful if you both let your views on this election be known. Thanks for continued great writing!

I agree whole heartily with Ms. Davis. If Joe Biden goes after palin like she is Sen. Obama, people will say he is picking on poor little sarah, but Sen. Clinton could indeed do so. I don't care if she is the VP part of the ticket, I don't care if she is a woman, I care I don't want such an inexperienced person that close to the presidency. I sure as hell don't want one who would set women back decades. And I don't want a liar, and she is already lying to everyone. She talks about being a fiscal conservative yet she had no problem taking almost 27 million of our money in earmarks for Wasilla and she left the community with 22 million of indebtedness when there was zero debt when she took office. Fiscal conservative my behind! Hell NO mccain/palin. I'd vote for Mickey Mouse before I would vote for that combination.

I sure would have thought that we would have heard something from Hillary by now. Palin sure did jump on the "glass ceiling" issue quick and the mention of the amount of women who voted for you. You sure did not come across as vain and sarcastic and with the arrogance of Palin. She did not earn the place where she is today. You have worked very hard and long for where you are compared to Palin. Where are you Hillary and where is all that spirit you showed during the long campaigning.
