What burns me about Palin is she in her own way represents all women. So, you make your sex a HUGE joke by delivering the most hateful speech I have ever heard. I will comment on education because I believe that my Commander in Chief should be well educated. I have a problem with a woman who attended 5 colleges in 6 years and we're acting like that's okay. I have a problem with the so called Christian Right pretending that an out of wed lock pregnancy is okay. At the end of the day, she is not married. We accept too much.

i am tired of Obama followers asking Hillary to rescuetheir candidate. He didn't need her as VP, The Democratic establishment treated her like a leapor throughout the primaries and now they want her to pull in all of the people they can't. She took a bullet for you with her speech at the convention, don't ask for anymore. you don't deserve it.

I would imagine that Hillary would like to keep getting elected and that would be impossible without the Democratic party behind her. She is one of the smartest & shrewdest polititians around, so just stand by. When she comes out Ms. Palin will think she has been run over by a freight train. She may well be busy with the upcoming 9-11 rememberances. I would love to see her as a judge on the Supreme court or Attorney General with Obama.

Hillary as Supreme Court Justice or Attorney General? Great idea!

So by your reckoning, if a team wins ten games by small spreads but wins two by large scores, that team should be the champs, right? Sorry, Paris. If you were conscious during the 2000 and 2004 elections, you witnessed the effect of our outdated electoral college. Don't like how it turned out for your candidate? Work to change it. But don't play the victim card. It cheapens your candidate's valid positions.

Nope, I'm genuine and my wallet is $300 lighter in campaign contributions to HRC to prove it. You did not answer my question. DId you support HRC only because she was a woman and not because of her politics? Would you please explain that to me? I really don't understand it.

Hillary owes Obama and the DNC NOTHING...after the treatmernt Dean and Pilosi gave her. However, it DOES take a female to figh a female. Biden was all facts and figures on the Today Show after Palins diatribe. Men are good at reasoning but women enjoy emotion. Go for the jugular. What is the difference between the Republican VP candidate and a Pit Bull? Absolutely nothing. But pit bulls are muzzled and on a leash, not to mention spayed and neutered... Obama has admitted to being wrong about the surge. But, what he is saying is that the surge alone will not ensure success in Iraq. HE IS RIGHT. Just like we gave Bin Laden weapons while fighting the Russians, part of our success in Iraq is due to the US arming Sunni insurgents. We do not learn from history. Lets give our enemies guns to achieve short term goals, and then when we're attacked, we're shocked.

What I don't understand is the fact that HRC was ok and justified when she'd speak and start in with her sarcastic remarks about other people she didn't like or agree with. And it was also ok for her to "defend" herself in the way she saw fit. Her followers backed her up nomatter what. But it's not equally fair for SP to do that also? This is where we drop the ball people. You either like a candidate or you don't. But they all should be treated with the SAME fairness. If SP feels she was needing to get back up there and "fight back" because of the things that were said, let her do so. HRC did/does it all the time! It shouldn't matter male or female. You don't like the RNC taking shots at the DNC and the DNC taking shots at the RNC. Think about it! We all have our differences and that's what makes this country turn because we were giving that with our Constitution and Bill of Rights. I didn't hear anyone bashing HRC because she "spoke her mind". We heard how great it was that a woman was able to be up there and run. Why is that any different for SP? You don't like her views, fine. Don't vote for her. Many people don't like HRC's views either and that's ok, too. When did we lose the ability to look beyond male or female and vote on where that candidate stands with the issues and leave it at that? That's where the real focus should be and simply not with what party we like better. Let's get real here, people! We are to blame for ANYONE we elect in office who fail to live up to what we "voted" them to be doing. It has NOTHING to do with being male or female. THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE AND SHOULD NEVER BE THE ISSUE. Let's better this country by standing strong together and stop bickering about these stupid things. Start holding these "leaders" (MEN AND WOMEN) accountable for their lack of leading. It's both sides who are responsible and I hope Congress will finally pull their heads out and understand that.

Hillary Clinton does not owe the DNC or Obama ANYTHING...after the way she was treated. However, I do think it takes a female to fight a female. Biden was on The Today Show the day after Palin's speech and he was all facts and figures. Men are good at reasoning and dislike emotion. Woman can stir the emotions. What is the difference between a Republican female VP candidate and a pit bull ? NO difference at all...except most pit bulls are on a leash and muzzled. McCain is too scared to do that. And lets not mention spaying and neutering??? SFS Alexandria, Va

Patience, oh ye follower of little faith. Hillary is a pro in the political arena. Sure, she should say everything you are telling her to say, Patti, but do you really think she doesn't know this? Don't you know that the skill of politics is not only knowing WHAT to say but also WHEN to say it? I am absolutely positive that Hillary already has this speach ready and has earmarked it with the most strategic date in which to give it. By yapping at her heals with this aritcle you make her a little less effective when she does. I know it is difficult when this election is so important to our country but you should trust a little more in your party leaders.

I'm sorry - only Obama and Biden can make 'zingers' toward McCain, but God forbid that Palin makes the same types of comments towards Obama and Biden. Typical double standard. Poor Patti Davs is more concerned with the Democrats winning than actual facts. Another slanted mistated argument. Pathetic.

This is very well written and beautifully expressed. The writer, Ronald Reagan's daughter, certainly speaks for me. As to "liberal media bias..." isn't it about time that the conservative media establishment owned their superiority in controlling the American news media and dropped this pretense of being the underdog? The media I read is still pre-occupied with good journalism and representing all perspectives (this is the OPINION section, BTW, and MSNBC has featured many different columnists here from all perspectives). The enormous Murdoch-owned and controlled media empire only illustrates the liberal perspective when it represents an opportunity for the Fox News stooges to verbally beat up on the speaker.

    • Posted By: LMAO @ 09/06/2008 6:05:24 PM

The fact she is Ronald Reagan daughter does not mean she should get a pass on writing utter rot. Pretty soon we will be saying that intelligence is a genetic inheritance and if my daddy was a smart man I am too. Just your logic as to why we should embrace Patti Davis logic just reveals what folks have been saying all along. Obama and his supporters are a bunch of elitists who look down their noses at "blue" collar folks.

I think Sarah Palin have done a lot. You seem to mistake achievements for accomplishments. Getting an Ivy League education is an achievement not an accomplishment. So Sarah Palin may not have academic achievements but she sure does have accomplishments and that matter most. For it is accomplishments that moves society forward.

      • Posted By: JustAThough2008 @ 09/06/2008 6:34:41 PM

I don't see anything in my post that suggests the writer should "get a pass: because of her parentage. In fact, I don't think she needs a pass at all. Don't know why you would assume something like that. I also don't mention Sarah Palin and what you seem to be suggesting is her lack of an appropriate education. In fact, except for the first and second sentences you seem to have not read my post at all. Shouldn't you actually read something before you start arguing with it?

I went to college(at the U of I) with Palin or Heath at the time. she is a reactionary who see gods will as justification to roll over other people and force them to yor view, the constitution is second to the will of god. If your comfortable with that then you will be comfortable with palin. Also as somebody who paid his own way thru college i respect those who put themselves thru school. I belive Palin kind of falls in this category, not a great deal of help from parents, but the UofI on cost 600 semester in 85, but Obama kicks our a** by putting himself thru a top notch thru school by hard work alone, no mommy or daddy helped him. God forbid we have some smart in the whitehouse wh really does no what it is like to be poor and raise yourself up by your own hardwork.

and has anybody else noticed how the Righties on this blog all say the same exact thing hmmmmm, g

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Finally a voice of dissent from Palin/Heath's past! Hope to hear more from you.

To the Barack haters, get over yourselves. McStupid nor the moose killer will win in November. Fortunately, most Americans understand what the pick was all about. This is not a campaign by the Repigs, this is a show, a well acted show, but still just a show.

You see, Ol' George and his crew have screwed this country royally and we will not be denied again by the Repigs. The party of rich white folks, mainly old white dudes, game will not work this year. I know they are trying hard with their "red neck" pick Sarah Palin. She loves guns and likes killing things! So McStupid figured he could pull in a huge voting block of disgruntled HRC supporters. NOT!! Did not work "old dude". It's a new day, a new beginning for this country. Sarah appeals to the base, the base that does not count this year. The base that hates anyone who does not believe as they do. The base of so-called christians who will bash some other woman's daughter for getting pregnant, but not the moose killers daugther. You know those righteous christian folks.

In the end it does not matter at all. Barack and Joe are taking this country on a new journey. I have been so at ease with this campaign since McStupid named the moose killer. It only energized an already energized Democratic Party! As the moose killer continues to lie about her record, if you want to call it that, the community organizers she disdains will show her just what we do come November. I bet you she will never, ever, again, fail to realize how powerful the communit organizer can be when turning out the vote.

Have a great night haters. And don't worry, the black guy is not that bad. You went along with a drunk draft dodger for 8 years. A VP who represents corruption for 8 years, oh and he was a draft dodger too. And now you are cheering for the female version of disgust so what the hell, give the black dude the chance! Oh what the hell, who cares what you think. You people are a non-issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bye Bye now you here! You should all understand that language right?

in the end......women will be guided to their correct place. at home, with kids, cooking, cleaning and caring for their families. When the children are raised they devote time to community service or in roles where their characteritics shine such as nursing, teaching (not administration, never met a woman any good at that) and religious education and service such as catholic nuns. Women do not belong in construction, management, sales (maybe some retail lke cosmetics) the military, heads of religous sects (all sects, only one church, the CATHOLIC church) engineering, science, manufacturing, government etc. Clerks and admin assistants is ok to a degree but only provided they make a beeline home to have dinner ready for their men. Hillary and Sarah need to go back to doing what women do best, nuturing the home fires. Sarah mounting Todd and Hillary mounting Bill.

Hillary would put this upstart "barracuda" in her place and expose her for the ignorant one-line-zinger-queen of speeches-with-no-substance! Women of America, please do not let this person become the supposed voice for us all. Please do not vote her one heartbeat away from being our president. As a post script, my granddaughter was born with brain damage, but I do NOT want Palin in the White House, so her using her special needs child as some kind of a ticket did not impress me at all!

  • Posted By: 2ndlastRepubinMA @ 09/06/2008 6:23:58 PM

So Hillary's "pantsuit feminist" supporters are out in the cold with no where to go. It's not about male or female. It's about platform. If you ever once voted Democratic you are party responsible for the slaughter of over 50 million American babies, homosexual marriage, and taking God out of our schools.

if we judge others based on our own intelligence and common sense then we would do good in choosing the right candidate to guide the course of this country. All of us are watching the same television screen, the same media carrying all the information regarding the candidates. I am sincerely surprised how we make these important decisions on the whim of one media or the other. How is it that we as the most developed country are so lacking in good analytical and judicial skills as to perceive what is really presented to us on the media. When the candidates make their speeches all of us are seeing and hearing the same thing. But the part where all voters can talk and discuss and convince what each of us see of the candidates is really missing. Thus our inability to pick the right candidate.

Thank you, Patti. I completely agree that we need to hear from Hillary, even though we know that this must be very challenging for her. I'm an African American woman and a feminist. Sarah Palin reminds me of Clarence Thomas. Most African Americans rejected Thomas from the beginning, and I hope progressive women will do the same with regards to Palin.

White women should remember that African Americans have chosen white politicians over conservative Black politicians. No Black person I know supports Alan Keyes for example. White women must be willing to do the same thing, not because they think Obama is perfect, but because they know that Palin will do everything she can to dismantle women's reproductive rights and harm the future of our daughters.

    • Posted By: JustAThough2008 @ 09/06/2008 6:20:19 PM

"This woman have done"? I suspect your credentials are not what you claim.

    • Posted By: LMAO @ 09/06/2008 2:31:29 PM

I am a female, African American with Ivy League qualifications and I find a lot to admire about Sarah Palin. I am sure you were the typical black person who sent out notes telling other black folks to band together to vote for Obama. Never mind his spotty character or his lack of experience. Now you are trying to tell other white women to band together with you? Now if anyone of you was truly concerned about the Democratic agenda you would have made sure Hillary was treated fairly - big states matter more than little bitty states (that Obama may not win in the fall); experience and accomplishments count not empty rhetoric; you do not set out to create history but to serve others (like Sarah did)

Speaking of Gov. Sarah Palin there is much to admire about her and people across all spectrum of life will see that. This woman have done much more to elevate womanhood than these snobs. I am only one generation from "blue" collar roots and it is folks like Sarah who have got me to where I am today.

Let this be a lesson to African American - place fairness ahead of blackness. McCain/Palin 2008

I pray that Hillary reads this piece and comes forward to help us beat back this upstart "barracuda"! In fact, all intelligent women, no matter her party affiliation, should come to the forefront on this. Palin's speech sickened me on the one hand, yet also showed me that she is absolutely not the woman I want representing me in Washington. Her speech was full of one-line zingers and had no substance what so ever, except as an attack on Obama. Her double standards in judging others, her whiney attitude about being under scrutiny as the Republican Vice-Presidential elect, her rigid views on abortion...the list could go on. Women of America, please run make your opnions known. This woman does not represent my views and I seriously do not want to see her placed on heartbeat away from the highest office in America!
