Think about this one....Kwame Kilpatrick was just indicted and resigned from his office of Mayor of Detroit...certainly a city larger than Alaska in population...for covering up and lying about an investigation. He will be serving time in jail and fined one million dollars.....but "hot mama" Sara gets to be the VP candidate...why is that? Oh, I know...she's white, she's Republican, and she's "hot".

LOOKS LIKE LITTLE SARA IS ALOT CORRUPT.. FIGURES .. REPUBLICANS NEED TO GO.. THEY LIE AND STEAL IN ORDER TO WIN.. MCCAIN IS CORRUPT AS WELL WITH ALL THE LOBBYISTS ON HIS STAFF AND ALL THE LIES HE CONSTANTLY TELLS ... LOOKS LIKE SOLDIER BOY MAY LOSE AFTER ALL .. I'M SO SICK OF HEARING ABOUT HIS STORY OF HIS CAPTIVITY.. I'VE NEVER BEEN IMPRESSED WITH IT .. IT'S GETTING OLD AND HE IS EXTREMELY OLD AND TIRED.. TIME TO PULL THE PLUG ON OL' BOY..

I am in favor of Alaska, AND TEXAS, seceding from the U.S. and keeping their "oil" and all of other other really charming characteristics. Then Presidents Palin and Bush can ride around in style in their boombastic sedan chairs, talking out of both sides of their mouths, while the cognoscenti and glitterati of Fairbanks and Sugardale sing along. Then we can all sleep better at night.

I am apalled at the posters here who think a respected magazine like Newsweek is trying to "smear" Palin. If you cannot believe the research of publications like this one, you need to admit to yourself that it's because you don't *want* to believe. You are so desperate to win that you are sticking your fingers in your ears like little children and singing "la la la, I can't hear you!" at the top of your lungs. The fact that you don't like all the negatives against Palin doesn't make them go away. It just makes you look foolish.

Look, BigR, calm down. New neighbors, you invite in for supper but you keep your mind open because there's more to gifts than the wrapping. This is the USA and Country First means not putting our country in the position of having to decide on someon who is unknown. We may love her or we may not love her after a year, but we should not vote for this ticket because 1) the VP is unknown and what we do know suggests little relevant experience and 2) this decision should make us call for McCain's complete medical records. We don't elect a blind date to be the VP of the United States unless we are all completely nuts.

The national enquirer is breaking the story on Palin's affair with her husband's business partner. Very similiar to the story they broke on John Edwards! They have some proof already.....

Question for McCain: "Mr. McCain, the argument of your campaign is that the McCain-Palin ticket should be elected because it has more executive experience than the Obama-Biden ticket. But you have no executive experience, while Sarah Palin does. So what executive role will Sarah Palin play in your administration? Will she be in charge of energy policy? Of social policy with regard to abortion and gay rights? Of foreign policy?"

And if McCain suggests that he will put Palin in charge of a task force or a study group, the follow-up must be: "But that's just writing a report. Your campaign is pinning the argument for your election on the executive advantage that Sarah Palin brings to the ticket. So, again, what job will this essential executive have in your administration?"

Make McCain DECLARE what Palin's SPECIFIC role as Veep will be...and then see where she stands on that issue or policy.

Energy?...and then bring up how she cancelled wind farm projects.

Social policy?...and then point out her exteme views on abortion or on creationism or ...even better..."abstinence-only sex education"?

    Foreign policy?....

    uh...

Earmarks?....and then ask which "Bridge to Nowhere" she opposed...and which she supported?

Garbage collection and parks and playgrounds?....sure. That'll work, that's the kind of executive experience she had as Mayor of Wasilla.

SARAH PALIN IS A COWARD AND SMOKESCREEN/DISTRACTION FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY TO TALK ABOUT ANY ISSUES!!! Why is she refusing to speak with the press - only give word interviews in Magazines? How will voters determine her character? All we know of her so far is how smug, snarky, damn good liar, and how shrill she can be!

    Typical republican strategy.

WORK TO HIDE THE TRUTH FROM THE PEOPLE.

Start by keeping Palin from the media so they cannot ask her questions.

When is this republican PENCHANT FOR SECRECY going to stop.

So Sarah didn't have an affair with Todd's ex-business partner. Then why did said business partner,( who was married during the alleged affair, but ended up divorced) rush to the courthouse yesterday to do an emergency filing to seal his divorce records????? Maybe the affair was named in the divorce as just cause for divorce????? Hopefully, they will get the record of the divorce on line for all to see...

    • Posted By: Roxcy @ 09/06/2008 6:38:26 PM

Good thought, my ex is a sexual addict, the only place it is documented in in my divorce court proceedings. The therapist won't share the information of the records even though is is a risk to children

If something were to ever happen to the court records someone could get a copy of the transcript, that is if they act quick enough.

What a bore. Compared with Bill Ayres, Tony Resko and the rest, this is of importance why? It sounds to me, just from your report alone, that this "investigation" is a witch hunt being conducted for political purposes. Sarah Palin has made a lot of very powerful enemies in Alaska, which is why she is such an admirable figure. Why don't you dig into those a bit? Or are you too beholden to the Big Oil your side pretends to revile but does nothing to curb?

Why should anyone be surprised at this. Like is attracted to like. George W. Bush is secretive and has no compunctions about using falsehoods, and neither does John McCain. There's a long discussion of this in a new book on lulu.com, the Bush/McCain Heresies. Looks like there should be another section for Sarah Palin.

Since most of you are neither in government or in law enforcement I can excuse some of your comments on this. The rest I will blame on biased media like CNN that has flamed the so called Troopergate to increase ratings while withholding information that would have provided a balanced story. While CNN was only bashing Palin they knew the trooper's record and did not provide any of that in their coverage as late as Tuesday when they had at least one female reporter in Alaska. Wooten has BAD COP written all over his record.

    On Wooten's record

    • Posted By: loriw @ 09/06/2008 4:40:15 PM

Wooten admits to Tazering his step son (who was about 10-11 years old at the time) and did so on an interview on CNN yesterday. I think CNN sat on this information until they could secure the interview.
Now tazering a child should have resulted in losing his abililty to carry a tazer if not his badge AND should have resulted in an investigation by Child Protective Services. On the interview Wooten admitted it was "dumb" to tazer a child but didn't seem remorseful.
He Illegally shot the moose WHILE he was a WILDLIFE OFFICER. So he knew the laws and broke them anyway.
He denied drinking beer in his police vehicle (did it again last night on CNN) tho it was witnessed by 2 people and was UPHELD in an investigation. My guess and experience is that he doesn't remember probably because he was drunk and it was listed this way in his record because the incident was "down-played" by the department to spare them, the department, embarrassment. ie, it was handled "internally".
There is a "damage to state property" charge also on his employment file which likely means that he wrecked his police vehicle and it was found that he was at fault. Had the accident not been his fault it would not have been mentioned. By the wording I would have to say this was also "handled internally".
There is another charge that Wooten was pulled over for failing to use his left turn signal while driving his trooper car which I am certain also is "internal investigation" lingo for a more serious moving violation.
On his file were statements that he had made excessive numbers of personal phone calls while on duty.

      • Posted By: loriw @ 09/06/2008 5:01:27 PM

Wooten still denies that he threatened to shoot his ex-wifes (and Sarah Palin's) father however Sarah Palin said she was listening in on the phone conversation between Wooten and his ex when he made the threat.
Wooten has been married AND DIVORCED 4 TIMES. Given his track record of poor judgement in his personal life and professional life I am certain he is not a stable or trust worthy individual. His body language I observed in the brief CNN interview said to me he was lying during the interview.
Now, why is so much of this stuff handled internally by the department....because it is. Perhaps he had an alcohol problem (you think...drinking in his patrol car) and the department put him through treatment and gave him a second chance. The departments often deal with these things internally to protect the dept from "bad press". Cops will protect each other too, especially bad cops. Then there is the Police UNION and that is a whole 'nuther post.
So why had it taken so long for the state to investigate this...when the Union gets involved and the wheel of justice turn slowly with all the parties and their lawyers involved. The push to have a decision made 2 weeks earlier than scheduled is not some big conspiracy. If you are looking for conspiracy look in 2 places...WHY DID THE STATE OF ALASKA STATE TROOPERS ALLOW THIS BAD COP KEEP HIS BADGE AFTER HE TAZERED A CHILD? WHY IS HE STILL WORKING WITH THIS PERSONNEL FILE? WHY DID CNN SIT ON FACTS ABOUT THIS BAD COP WHILE POINTING THE FINGER AT PALIN AND CHANTING TROOPERGATE....to discredit Palin so they could promote their chosen candidate...Obama? Now there's where you all need to be spending your time and energy.
BTW...I an involved in local government and my position requires that I make determinations in executive sessions on police disciplinary actions for our city police officers. So I have first hand experience in these types of matters and a bit more understanding of how they are handled than probably most of you. I would like to hear from some police officers on these alligations against Wooten. If I were the Palins I would have used my influence too to get this bad cop off the streets and AWAY FROM CHILDREN for everyone's safety.

"If I were the Palins I would have used my influence too to get this bad cop off the streets and AWAY FROM CHILDREN for everyone's safety."

Really, I thought you were a part of determining discipline of police officers "through due process?" Yes, I know bad cops cover up for other bad cops but if we can't trust our judicial system then we as a body of people are in deep trouble. If the police department is corrupt then he needed to be fired.

Funny, I heard on the news this morning that the National FOP is endorsing McCain.

  • Posted By: 3amy @ 09/06/2008 6:03:35 PM

Even if Wooten is a bad guy he is entitled to due process. She is not allowed to take matters into her own hnads. We need to let the legal process work-she gets due process too. It is a very important question: Did Gov. Palin abuse her power? If so, would she abuse the power of the vice presidency to go after enemies?

    • Posted By: Roxcy @ 09/06/2008 6:13:04 PM

I thought that Wooten had due process and was suspended for 5 days as a result of the investigation, it is the pulic safety official that needs due process and the investigation into Palin's actions should be completed, not stopped.

This story of the State Police commissioner seems improbable. He claims he was fired because he did not fire the brother-in-law as asked by the Governor Palin. It seems improbable that the Governor should even be dealing with the State Police Commissioner. Governor Palin should have contacted the local district attorney or state attorney general and have the case presented directly to a grand jury and thereby bypass the State Police Commissioner altogether. Because her ex-brother-in-law was a State Trooper maybe she felt compelled to exhaust internal channels and remedies due to her position as Governor and a desire not to embarrass the State of Alaska and state law enforcement, and so by that reasoning she decided to go initially through the State Police Commissioner. But the question becomes did the State Police Commissioner contact the FBI or United States Attorney or any outside agency such as an Alaska District Attorney or Assistant Attorney General because there was a potential violation of civil rights by the officer through the use of official oppression, his badge in harassing the Trooper???s estranged wife and threat to kill his father-in-law. Importantly the reports state that the estranged spouse filed for divorce and a domestic violence protective order on April 11 2005 against the State Trooper.

If she did anything wrong, she should say so.
If she didn't do anything wrong, she should stand trial.
That's what she'd demand of any of her constituents, isn't it?

"If she didn't do anything wrong, she should stand trial."

Why should she stand trial if she didn't do anything wrong," sounds like it should be the oppoisite. Don't you think?

See here we go again Palin is right no matter what and Wooten and Monegan are wrong no matter what. First your forgetting there was an investigation into Wooten and was punished for his mistakes. Second you guys don't seem to care that Palin said she never called or had any contact. Well guess what there are emails from her so that is involvement. Second I never had anyone call well low and behold there is at least one audio recording of her people. Palin said me and my staff never did anything wrong strange since the Union and other sources say they did illegally look into Wooten???s records. Next she says I am cooperating well that???s not the picture the special investigator is saying that Palin or her lawyer will not return calls. That???s not even it She asks the Legislation to remove Special investigator and have the whole thing turned over to ethics Boards which she appointed everyone too. you may say that???s it but wait it???s not. Key Alaska allies of John McCain are trying to derail a politically charged investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner that could produce embarrassing information about the vice presidential candidate on the eve of the election. Not only are they asking the state legislators to remove the Special investigator removed but there asking that French, the one overseeing the probe be released. I bet that???s it right wait wrong there is more Key Allies of Palin and McCain suggested Friday that the investigation into Palin's firing of Monegan should be shut down entirely.
My question is if you did not do anything wrong and have nothing to hide why do you run all over and *** on yourself to have the investigation just disappear. It???s because you are buried in it way over your head and the crap is going to hit the fan.
If anyone is so biased not to think that there isn???t something fishy there your an idiot.

    • Posted By: Roxcy @ 09/06/2008 5:50:10 PM

WOW, you ar really fired up about this! Yes, I agree that somethin is fishy, and I also think that this is a typical case where someone in an elected office thinks that they are above reproach.

To call for it to come to an end is an indication that it would cause embarassment to the GOP, i.e. something that Palin and or her husband has done that could be or look inappropriate. What should be done at this point is for a third party, unrelated in anyway should be appointed to conduct the investigation and to render a report of their findings.
