I believe that McSame and his gang are just using this poor little innocent woman to take the voters attention from the real issue, this election and the empty suit that McSame really is. Little Sarah is a decoy, we are all rattled up and focused on her, and not on him who is running to be president. So, we should ignore this and ask questions about issues, real issues.

Is this type of interference even legal? At the least is reeks of an extreme lack of ethics.

They do realise that the whole world is watching them trying to cover this up right? This is just another example of the jaw-dropping arrogance of a party that has been in power so long it thinks laws don't apply to them. As Mayor of a tiny town in the middle of nowhere Palin wanted to ban books and fire 'disloyal' employees. As Governor of Alaska for less than 2 years she used her limited powers to bully state officials into settling family scores. This is a woman who has consistantly proved unworthy of the small amount of power that she has been entrusted with, Imagaine what she would do if she had access to the IRS or the NSA! Obama now more than ever!

The fact that this is being done so openly since it obviously reeks of backroom deals is incredible. Isn't anyone going to stop the interference of McCain in a matter that is under investigation. I thought these were things we were not supposed to know about because if we had the government would step in and investigate the investigation by a political figure that is certainly to benefit personally. Unbelievable.

Are we really going on a witch hunt over this issue? How quickly people forget WHITEWATER, VINCE FORSTER'S "SUICIDE" AND MISSING PAPERS FOUND IN HIS OFFICE. While other players went to prison, Bill and Hill continued to flourish at the expense of the American Public. Well, many have not forgotten. If Palin filed charges against herself to assist the investigation, and nothing has been concluded, then why is it even a problem? Oh, I know; the opposition can't find anything else to drudge up. BTW, Todd and Sarah are both pretty easy on the eye. At least we can all agree with that.

How about her laughing hysterically at a collegues cancer and weight on a shock jock program. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/08/31/palin-laughs-as-opponent_n_122776.html
Is this nothing also? Is it appropriate for a Governor or Vice Presidential Candidate? She is a pitbull alright. I hate pitbulls, they are unpredictable and dangerous

The problem is that the GOP is sticking their nose in where it doesn't belong. If its a witch hunt, I am sure Alaska can determine that for themselves. Let them go about their investigation. The GOP sure wasn't interested in Gov. Palin's problems until she became the choice for VP. The people of the state of Alaska voted for their representatives and their governor and its their electees' business to look into this. No one else's.

Also - of a more important note to me about Palin: What about the use of a huge earmark for purposes other than the money's unintended use (i.e., Road to Nowhere)? Isn't that (or shouldn't that be) illegal? Whether you agree with an earmark, isn't a governor bound to use the funding in the specific way it was intended by the U.S. Congress? Is there no penalty for misapropriation, no matter how noble the intent? Seems to me that a presidential running mate proclaiming such a feat sets a bad example for governors to do whateber they want with U.S. taxpayers' money.

Removing someone for investigating the removal of someone. And, that's not politically motivated, in itself? What happened to the value the GOPs hold dear of the Federal government staying out of the way of the state?

The most Coghill should do is tell Monegan to do is pipe down -- not to squelch an investigation simply because it's McCain pick that is involved. The whole thing wreaks of potically motivation.

I completely agree. This is so typical of the Republicans. If recent American political history has taught us anything, it's taught us that the Republicans are expert at bullying their way into office and playing dirty in order to stay in power. Where are the Democrats on this? I mean, really? Why isn't Obama's team responding? Why isn't the Democratic Congress raising hell? Again, history repeats itself. Republicans get away with this nonsense because the Democrats are too incompetent and lily-livered to do anything about it. We'll never win the election under these circumstances. Year 2000 all over again.

I agree...polite and respectful works on the east and west coast. But the middle and southern states wants some ass kicked first and questions asked later....I am repulsed by Palin's nasty mean spirited convention speech...I get mean and nasty as part of the process--- I don't get the cocky smugness and smiles as she delivered her below the belt blows..... But that is not important the mid west and southern states love this bullying crap:....Democrats listen up....by not fighting back we are looking like the sissies the GOP paints us as.

These republicans accusing someone else of politicizing? Look whose calling the kettle black! They are truly shameless and they need to be called out for their pathological hypocrisy! This investigation began "last July" -- when, golly, the rest of the known world knew nothing about, nor did we care about, Mrs. Palin and her frightening power-madness in Alaska. Send her back to Alaska where she belongs.

The Republican attempt to squelch this investigation is an outrage. The press have a duty to investigate, and good citizens must rise up and demand a fair and impartial investigation be completed and publicly released before 4 November.

We have a right to know about Sarah Palin's actions as Governor. Sign the petition at www.alaskatroopergate.com.

This Republican attempt to stonewall the investigation is an outrage. It will fail, because people are standing up and demanding the truth.

Republicans can try to squelch this investigation at their own political peril.

Sarah Palin is the Governor of the state of Alaska. She is a candidate for national office but the only office she holds right now is Governor, of a STATE. Why is the GOP, who pretty much lives and dies on the idea of STATE's RIGHTS, sticking their nose into this? Do they think Alaskan's are incapable of carrying out a fair investigation?

It seems as if the transition from the Bush administration to a McCain administration would be seemless -- at least in so far as corruption is concerned. Haven't we had enough of this garbage? This probe began BEFORE she was tapped for the VP slot and is not a political stunt. If McCain had properly vetted her, we would be going through this crap! This is more divisive politics and I've had a belly full in the last 8 years. In the words of Barak Obama, "ENOUGH!"

Sounds sleazy to me. If winning is the goal then I guess it's ok to kill off the enemy.

Sen. McCain, you've sold your sole to win an election..... looks like the "demise of your first marriage (I think the values voters call it "fornication")," is not the last of your moral faliures....

The baggage that sarah palin is carrying will never fit into our White House. It is time that she retires her pathetic voyage. She and mcsameasbush-cain have the nerve to try to obstruct Justice right before our eyes. Stand up to them, The American People are fed up with religious zealots who crap on our Constitution and like sarah palin, give addresses in front of the Alaska Independence Party on secession. So, she is not an American and true Patriot if she supports a Party that wants to secede from the Union. She has a lot to answer for and keeping her from the Media will not help.

The press has left out the rest of the story on troopergate. Palin never ordered any trooper by name to be fired. As Govenor, Palin was made aware of many circumstances of wreckless behavior and abuse on the force, not just that of her ex brother in law. Palin demanded the Commissioner retrain all state troopers on, among other things, proper use of weapons, and on duty substance abuse. Palin gave 6 mos for the Commissioner to retrain and turn things around on the force. He did nothing and was fired. The Commissioner only said he ???believed??? he was fired for not terminating Palin???s ex brother in law, but admits he was never ordered to fire him, nor was his name ever singled out or mentioned. He did admit that he did not go in the direction Palin wanted him to.

Great then - Palin has nothing to worry about. I'd love to see all this explained in the report. Let the special investigator do his job.
