It`s pointless to talk about a russians myths in this manner. US is a one who incorporate a law of jungle in the international relations. They desperately need conflicts and unstable regions where they can appear as a angel saving democracy .How come US is involved in one way or another in a every possible conflict in a world? What is that US turn into? And as it concerned a mythology it`s enough to look on a political map of a world or a CIA world fact book and compare the Europe and Russia or a US and Russia. And when it comes to economics ,what`s left to a US and Europe except mortgage crisis, stock crisis , recession, international debts and so and so. What would happened with a Us monetary system if Russia and China pull out their investments in US? US then would`nt be saved even if they start a war with a Mars. So don`t analise no more Russian or anybody else mithology. It`s so narrow analisys like it was writtten by a CNN reporter . How long will US lecture everybody how to behave?

The biggest myth about the US is that it fights for democracy. On the contrary it's the most hypocritical country that has ever existed. Oil-hunters, that's what you are.

The biggest myth about the US is that it advocates democracy. Your country is just an incarnation of hypocrisy. You stop talking about other so-called invasions while your troops are still in Iraq. Oil-hunters, that's what you are.

That's a pity Mr. MacShane cannot read in Russian, so he cannot read comments on the translation of his article (forum www.inosmi.ru). I have translated just one of them: "Myth 1: "Newsweek" is a reputable edition. Myth 2: Mr. MacShane is competent in Russian affairs." I have to notice that I mitigate expressions in my translation.

Myth 6. Oh my, how quickly have we forgotten that we have violated the international law (ripping apart sovereign country - Serbia) we now quickly invoke in case of Georgia/Ossetia! And, no, Mr. Milosevic was not anti-islamic - he just did not wan to see an Istambul on his ancestral land. No worries, judging by the mushrooms of minarets in Berlin, Koln and indeed across UK, you will see quickly enough what were Serbs so afraid of. Payback is bitch - Russia has served the first installment - we guaranmtee more to come.

Myth #2: Denis MacShane has a brain and he has ability to use it.
maybe we should continue this way?

Russia the only city "allowed" to station around its city? Allowed by whom? Please tell us another lie. If the United States stations the same missiles around Washington, who is going to stop them and whose permission would they require? Stop posting absurd rubbish. Either get your facts right or shut up.

After the collapse of USSR due to the manipulation by the US and the west, Russia was left alone to pick up the pieces. With the clear effort by the US to totally take control of all world affairs, Russia was also threatened. Russia was once bitten.

Denis MacShane needs to lay off the crack pipe and try to do more reading than writing. Putin united Europe? The EU never appeared more fractured then when it adopted its toothless resolution condemning Russia. MacShane says the EU suspended talks with Russia on the new partnership agreement. No they didn't: how can you suspend talks that haven't even started yet? The new partnership agreement negotiations have been stalled for months by Poland over meat export dispute with Russia. Meat export and Russia's invasion and partitioning of Georgia resulted in the same action by the EU: another delay in the partnership negotiations. Wow. Russia has been offered memberships in G7 and the Council of Europe? Who cares about these useless organizations? So they threw Russia a bone, while still ignoring Russia's opinion on Kosovo and NATO expansion. The only lesson that can be learned from how the EU hierarchy operates is that Germany, France and the UK matter and the rest are free to complain. ???Can a nation that stretches from Europe to Japan and China be encircled????, asks MacShane. NATO seems to think so.

Can it be any more tendentious and plain wrong? Myth 4: Russia's GDP was nearly twice that of Mexico and South Korea in 2007 with a fraction of their dept. The rest is simply not worth commenting. Just canceled my subscription. Recommend doing the same.
