Some kind of cold war is coming. Unfortunately it might become warm time to time. The problem is that Russia states that it will pursue from now on it's national interests. No ideology, but interests. This is very much like the approach of the United States. I think that the experience of fighting and breaking Serbia showed Russian politicians 2 clear things: 1) if you are strong in words and actions you will survive, otherwise - die; 2) if you are declaring national interest you can have a far more enthusiasm of your own people. There will be 2 imperialistic countries in the world - US and Russia. The cold war is inevitable. Let's hope that will stay there and will not go hot.

I don't see a "cold war" is coming, the world is changing now. Facing the situation in dilemma, all Europes are trying to negotiate with Russia, rather than confront it. Us has lost its voice now, just good words to her would be fine, need not have to real.

I don't think Bernard Kouchner is 100% honest. This is a kind of diplomacy. He must say something pleasant for the USA, France, Europe, and himself. I like that he's not hawkish. Let's create a basis for peace in Georgia, Russia, the EU, and the USA.

Kouchner spoke only for himself and his word is worth much more in Europe since its first statements unconscious. Many people are surprised that a president as saakachvili is still in place, and not before the international criminal court, after having bombed cities of Georgia and trained an immediate reaction of Russia. In addition, with regard to missiles, Kouchner is either stupid or bad faith. The direction of these is a matter of programming.

"We had to stop those tanks rolling toward Tbilisi. We had to demand an immediate ceasefire, otherwise Tbilisi was taken and Saakashvili's regime would fall."
    Re-e-e-eally.)))
And even more - we stopped russians tanks when they was rolling toward Paris! You see any russian tanks in Paris? No? Because we stop them!!!11one
And this is a french foreign minister? What a joke... And where he has been when gergians missiles was falling on sleeping city, and georgians tanks and troops rolling in Tskhinval, killing everyone including children?
Ah, sorry, I forgot - democrats can kill non-democratic civilians. Why? Well... because they.. uh.. others, because they... uh.... not unlike us - democrats, and so they.. ummm... less humans than we are... they more like untermensch...? Proved by US & NATO. Including France, yes.

"We had to demand an immediate ceasefire, otherwise Tbilisi was taken and Saakashvili's regime would fall" It would be a blow to the EU who has blindly suported the US.

"The way the Russians reacted to Saakashvili and invaded Georgia wasn't right either" The way the US and the EU reacted and invaded Afghanistan and Iraq wasn't right either?

"We've succeeded in getting 27 EU countries with us" to obey orders from the US.

"European defense is a priority of the French presidency" because Europe is prepared to be the face the damage of war for the benefit of the Americans.

"but nobody wants a policy of confrontation with Russia" officially but in reality the EU and US would be very eager to destroy Russia and to ensure it remains a pariah state.

"the batteries of missiles for the new U.S. missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic aren't directed at Russia" the missiles are not even real! If you believe this you can believe anything.

"What sanctions do you want against the country supplying you?" aha... you caught me
