When you've had a president who sits on and denies disavows, discourages anything scientific for eight long years and lets anything that makes more money slander science, too , it is easy to see how our decline could be expedited.

As it appears now it was a major American mistake. One of the distinguishing marks of American leadership in the world is its 'knowledge- industry'.

You may not want to hear this but the true scientists today are the practical physicists-the engineers that do things. They see a need and go the distance to meet it. The theoretical scientists have largely become the high-priests of the religion of science. For them science is the be-all end-all of everything. They are not to be questioned. I don't accept for a minute that Europe has surpassed the U.S. Who are the ones who are still getting things done?

It is a shame when we can't seem to come up with 11billion to advance man's knowledge but it is no problem to spend hundreds of billions of dollars killing people in Middle Eastern wars. It is a sad day indeed for The U.S.

A recent article published demonstrated that the largest feeder schools into USA Ph.D. programs are Chinese and Korean. Something like 38% of new Ph.D. students or graduates come from Asia. With most of the R&D from major multinational corps leaving to greener pastures in Asia and Europe it wont be long until the USA dominance is science is a legacy.
