Whoa! Katie Paul, are you really that weak of a journalist? Have you always been, or have you just let your skills get rusty??? Have you lost your interest in truth, or did you just never have it? - Just because you (or maybe your boss or both?) disagree with Sarah Paoin is no excuse for MISreporting!!!

    Palin Slashed covenant House?
More sloppy reporting and fact checking"
"No, she didn't cut funding for unwed mothers, she increased it by "only" 354 percent instead of 454 percent, as part of a multi-year capital expenditures program. ...The center's executive director, Deirdre Cronin, explained...'Despite some press reports to the contrary, our operating budget was not reduced. '"

Palin increased the budget for teen pregnancy programs. The media is lying. Her plan was over several years and increased more than the current year to year. The first year was being phased in and increased over the several years to be more than what the annual budget for teen pregnancies were. The media has destroyed Sarah Palin with lies. The media needs to have protests outside their doors.

Newsweek and the parent company is the epitome of the death of journalism in our country. I am a democrat and former elected official. I cannot believe how Newsweek can slant their article and attack Sarah Palin. Don't they realize the reader with average intelligence can see through there barrage of attacks on a highly qualified and poplar governor? Ridiculous and the beginning of the end of journalism - fair and balanced.

      Schreff -

Your comment is well-founded and rational!

To answer your question - maybe Newsweek is not attempting to appeal to "the reader with average intelligence" - its target audience is probably sub par!

Yes, a few honest observant political commentators have stated that competent journalism in America died in 2008!

IN ADDITION TO THE TWO SCANDALS SARAH PALIN IS CURRENTLY INVOLVED IN - THE OTHER SHOE MAY DROP ON PALIN THIS WEEK!!!!

"The National Enquirer's coverage of a vicious war within Sarah Palin's extended family includes several newsworthy revelations, including the resulting incredible charge of an affair plus details of family strife when the Governor's daughter revealed her pregnancy. Following our John Edwards' exclusives, our political reporting has obviously proven to be more detail-oriented than the McCain campaign's vetting process. Despite the McCain camp's attempts to control press coverage they find unfavorable, The Enquirer will continue to pursue news on both sides of the political spectrum."

Sarah Palin is just being used by the GOP to rally the conservative base and provdie a distraction from the real issues. She is not representative of manistream American women. Her views are not moderate. She does not believe in teaching sexual abstinence. I am a Catholic and I am disgusted as to how this VP is being used to attack Obama/Biden. She is far from being a reformer too.

      mhopgood123 -

You claim that Sarah Palin "is not representative of manistream American women."
There is a difference between being representative of and appealing to any sociological or political segment of society. A true leader can convince and transform society, instead of merely representing it.

You state that "She does not believe in teaching sexual abstinence."
What factual proof do you have in that regard?

You claim to be a Catholic.
Do you support the Catholic Church's position that abortion is immoral?

You assert that Sarah Palin "is far from being a reformer too."
What facts do you have to support that?

I admit - maybe I'm expecting too much from you here, with respect to you actually having any facts to support your expressed opinions.

Most obamabots are confused by facts, and generally tend to dismiss them as being unimportant or irrelevant.

      Awaiting your reply!

If the republicans win the election in November, they are going to be very happy campers. Normal.

Then, shortly thereafter, reality will set in. Those well off republicans will be happy for the next four or eight years. They will enjoy life paying for whatever they want.

But what about the republicans who aren???t so well off? Those that will struggle to pay their rent or mortgage payments, fill their tanks, pay for health care and even buy their favorite foods and all the other things that goes with the cost of living. Having been there, I will really feel sorry for them. Yes, many democrats will be there too.

But, at the same time I will feel a great sense of justice knowing they are experiencing the effects of their own votes to put McCain in office and that I, as well as all democrats, did not contribute to their plight. They will NOT be able to have whatever they want or perhaps even what they need while their well off counterparts will. One thing they will have though and at no extra cost. That is their memory of the lies, distortions, and hate spewed by their rich republican counterparts against a very intelligent Harvard law School graduate and State and US Senator who wanted nothing more than to make the country prosperous, NOT just the well off, but for them as well. I hope they can live on that because, just like during the last eight years, the well off republicans wont give a damn about them.

What they, and all of us, will have is just MORE OF THE SAME . . . .
or perhaps, something even worse. And even if you like Palin, she is NOT the decision and policy maker, McCain is.

    One thing is for certain:

After November 4th, there can be buyer???s remorse but there can???t be any going back

Thank you Yes! We ALL Can. I only hope more people, will begin to see through the republican lies and deception.

I also think the media should get off their butts and start doing their job as they used to do.

What, Palin could conceivably have to take over the presidency on November 5th and they cannot ask her questions?.

    That is insane!

Just another typical leftist, elite media attack on a politician and political point of view they disagree with. The meat of the article contradicts the story's title. It's amusing to read this kind of drivel and hear the voices of their syncopathic haters in the comments section. The American people are on to your baloney. You just don't get it pal!

If you read the other article entitled " An Apostle of Alaska" Sarah Palin also has a PASTOR PROBLEM!

I have not seen anything more biased than the Fox News Network. The Republican party must have an ownership interest or is deeply subsidizing Fox.

Don't you ever wonder how many Republican dollars are filtered to Rushbo? Man, talk about drinking the Kool-aid!!!

The article has several holes in it's logic if it's trying to discredit Palin. THe Alaska Supreme Court decision permits girls younger than 16 to obtain an abortion without parental consent and Palin is outraged, files for a re-hearing and is denied. This only shows that the Gov. isn't omnipotent in state politics and the judiciary. Second, if Palin cut funds for Covenant House, a program for NEW MOTHERS, how does that affect at-risk mothers on the fence about abortion? New mothers are obviously NOT on the fence.

Every interest group wants a new law for their pet gripe. Thank goodness someone in government says hold on......we CAN"T have a law for EVERYTHING!!

Why do you bring her 4 month old baby and her teenage daughter into the political arena? They are not running ,please stop using them as pawns, poor journalism!

  • Posted By: DT's @ 09/06/2008 4:11:49 PM

She discourages abortion(SO).Why do YOU bring her children into this ? They have nothing to do with this.Stick to the people that are running and not their children!
