This interview that Charles Gibson is doing is going to be a farce and dishonest to the American people!! Who are you - the media accountable to? Is it us the viewers or corporate America?!!! Please read on below to understand why this interivew that Gibson gives to Palin is such a crock of Alaska!!

"And it's pretty clear this farce is going to be close to unwatchable. Set aside that this comes just on the heels of McCain campaign manager Rick Davis saying Palin would not sit for any interviews "until the point in time when she'll be treated with respect and deference." The tell comes high up in the AP story by David Bauder. The second graf reads ...

Palin will sit down for multiple interviews with Gibson in Alaska over two days, most likely Thursday and Friday, said McCain adviser Mark Salter.
Political interviews are never done like this. Because it makes the questioning entirely at the discretion of the person being interviewed and their handlers. The interviewer has to be on their best behavior, at least until the last of the 'multiple interviews' because otherwise the subsequent sittings just won't happen. For a political journalist to agree to such terms amounts to a form of self-gelding. The only interviews that are done this way are lifestyle and celebrity interviews. And it's pretty clear that that is what this will be.

Here's some more to inspire confidence ...

The interview is a coup for Gibson, who also had the only sit-down with McCain during the Republican National Convention. During that interview, he did not question McCain about Palin's family, a decision that he fretted about for hours, Gibson said in a Web log posted last week.

"Once you know about her daughter's pregnancy, once you know about her husband's political interest in the Alaska Independent Party, once you know about the special nature of their latest child, I think that's enough," Gibson wrote.

The relevant questions about Palin all related to her experience and policy positions as a mayor and governor of Alaska.

ABC News spokesman Jeffrey Schneider said he did not believe Gibson's stated stance about family questions was key to securing the interview. It will be unwatchable. "

Do you realize what news organization you are talking to? The one with two political coverage anchors who were so pro-Obama that it was offensive and NBC had to bring on a neutral person to "balance" the coverage?

So how does a neutral balance out two hostile highly negative news "reporters"?

MSNBC and NBC are getting so much money from the Obama campaign they can't bend over backward fast enough.

These libchicks are just jealous of Mrs. Palin because they have lost their looks and she still has her..plus a manly husband who appreciates her.

    • Posted By: pearsoncrz @ 09/08/2008 9:43:18 PM

That manly husband who appreciates a strong woman with a significant career and doesn't mind changing the diapers is a big change from the 80's.

Gee.. that's not sexist at all! Wow... Mrs. Palin is so lucky to be with these good ol' boys!

Good enough reason to vote Republican this year! Where do I sign up to get a hot chick in the White House? That's all I care about. I don't care if my job and my home are at risk because of failed Republican policies and leadership or if this country is tanking because of all the debt they've built up from crazy spending and a boondoggle overseas. All I want a hot babe in the oval office!

Outrageous topwomen who have REALLY pushed for equality for all these years, that would include me
by the way, a single mom of 3, grandmother of 4,and small business owner. The slick trick is to use the feminine to do ithe GOP's "dirty work" by sudddenly finding a fiercely ambitious, extremely narrow minded woman, who will do just fine to push the very masculine agenda of the GOP.
Hillary may not be pretty by Mc Cain's standards and comments, but she at least has brains and is not
all scripted like a las vegas commedy act. Even this so called interview with ABc which the GOP selected
along with the most luke warm interviewer possible and then instead of a hard interview such as the other candidates have carried, diluted this from an interview to a 2 day walk about through Alasks with Palin, speaking to her general philosphies and answering only approved and therefore scripted dialog.
Its theater and an insult to real feminists, who the GOP has always desposed. What a fiasco....only women who can only get info from Fox news and don't have internet...can popssibly believe this....Why not have choosen a Diane Sawyer, a Barbara Walters a Campbell Brown? Bbecause they are real reporters and might just ask questions that Palin can't fake her way through.

I have read most of the comments on Anna Quindlen's article and I feel Sarah Palin in not really relevant in all of this discussion. We would be missing the point here if we did not see the truth behind all of this. Sarah Palin did nothing on her own, it was John McCain who made all of this happen. He was desperate to chose a Vice President who would break through all of his problems of many things and pep up his campaign. The Democratic Convention in Denver was such a success that he let go of all of the original men that he had considered and went way out on a limb to try to find someone who would do for him what he had not been able to do for himself. The idea was that Palin would attract the disgruntled H. Clinton voters and put McCain on the road to winning the presidential election. He knows that this is his last chance and he really pulled the rabbit out of the hat to try to make it happen.

Pailn was brought in to cause distraction from the issues of the campaign. If you vote for her, you are voting for an image, a fantasy figure. You cannot get to know someone at this level in 8 weeks. We don't need John McCain's blind date in the White House. We have very serious challenges to face - challenges brought to us directly by John McCain and the party of Sarah Palin. This is not a woman's issue - it is clear evidence of Republican cynicism for the election process and for the intellectual capacity of the American public. Women, you are being used.

Ever wonder why Republicans have not given Biden the time of day and the libs like AQ are up in arms taking down Palin? It has to do with how threatened each party feels. Biden is old-hat liberal politics and Sarah represents the freshness of conservatism. She is so threatening to their existence she has made them forget about McCain.

  • Posted By: Bubbahunk08 @ 09/08/2008 8:39:53 PM

The crime of picking Sarah Palin is that McCain wants us to vet an unknown person in less time that the country picks an American Idol. They also, with this pick, manage to move people from talking about real issues like the economy, the war, and our children - to the latest "news" about a journalist who refuses to talk to the media. Sarah - Superwoman - allows Republicans to bask in the fantasy that they are not responsible for our nation being involved in torture, for the lax regulations on the mortgage industry, and for our reliance on oil. Wake up, America. I pray to God that tomorrow you wake up and realize we don't have time to talk about Palin this or that - we have to talk about the issues and how we are going to deal with them. Palin is on the same level as American Idol - this is the Republicans' great joke on America. Here, we can get you to vote for somone you don't even know. What would George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams say about this election? They'd say vote for Obama/Biden. This is not a woman's issue - it is a frat joke by a cynical party who wants us to forget their sins and omissions.

McCain has shown genius in his decision. Palin has energized the conservative base and thereby strengthened the republican ticket. He has been criticized for following advice to make a decision. He wanted Lieberman but was talked into Palin buy Rove, it has been posited. I think it shows good sense to know when to listen to others. He has made himself and his party better by compensating for his own lack of conservatism in his choice. He would not have done this with Joe L. the turncoat democrat now independent. That would have done nothing to rally the base. So now Palin is in the crosshairs of the angry liberal mob. That is the typical liberal reaction to destroy the person because liberalism is based on a lie and you libs have nowhere else to turn. I have read a bunch of the posts below and read seething anger, mainly from their hatred for Bush and now the prospect of blowing another election. Not one person has raised a good discussion on McCain/Palin positions. The duplicity of liberalism. You can hate oil, but we need it. Our own. You can hate pro-lifers, but we are right and you know it. You can hate entrepreneurs and businesses, but that's who pays the bills. You want the economy to prosper but don't want an equal playing field. You can hate the war on terror but it is working. Feel threatened by terrorists? You are being protected and you don't appreciate how ugly it is. You can hate Sarah Palin but if you lived next door to her she would be your heroine. Anna's piece is so full of misconceptions and transparencies I frankly have no idea how most of these libs are buying it all. Astonishing.

All Sarah Palin does is criticize Obama and praise McCain. She has not stated one view she has on any thing. The reason is that she does not have anything to say on any topic. Can you image her meeting any diplomats from other countires. All she knows how to do is small, The United States will become the joke of the world. McCain and Palin will bring this country down.

Anna Quindlen, why do you think you are so very right and Sarah and the Republicans are so wrong.

Isn't that just a little arrogant?

Anna Quindlen, why do you think you are so right

and Sarah and the Replublicans are so wrong ?

Is it that easy to be arrogant ?

  • Posted By: pisces @ 09/08/2008 7:40:26 PM

Insuranceman: Not only are most of your "facts" wrong, but your conclusions are also in error. Palin showed herself at the convention to be a snyde, sarcastic, meanspirited person who hypocritically does not understand what this country needs. Obama, on the other hand, is a statesman. He doesn't need to be ugly like McCain/Palin, because he's making plans to LEAD. He understands more than simple force - diplomacy and statesmanship are complex. Which is probably why so many uneducated people are conservative. They don't get it. And neither do you. You know why colleges are full of liberals? Because, when people start CRITICAL THINKING, they realize liberalism is THE answer to a pluralistic society.

    • Posted By: colddeadhands @ 09/08/2008 8:06:31 PM

Are you educated? Learn how to spell. You know why colleges are full of liberals? So they don't have to work.

She calls herself a hockey mom. What is that supposed to mean?....She is nothing.......nothing....like the field hockey moms at Chapin, Fieldston, Horace Mann, Cathedral, and the other private schools here in New York City. And where are her kids going to go to school if she becomes Vice President ? I don't know of any headmaster who would event think of admitting them to a private school in Washington D.C. They would be so out of their element....

  • Posted By: desertcogo @ 09/08/2008 5:18:32 PM

Anna Quindlen is 100% correct. Republicans have never supported women's rights. I recall Rush Limbaugh always referring to women trying to obtain equal rights for women as "feminazis". The religious far-right wing of the party has always been against women with children leaving their home to pursue a career. Dobson and the entire Republican party is the biggest bunch of hypocrites in existence.

    • Posted By: colddeadhands @ 09/08/2008 7:56:15 PM

Rush refers to RADICAL MILITANT MAN HATING FEMINISTS like Gloria Steinem as Feminazis. You are wrong when you lump them all in together. He identifies a few. I am a conservative and think that all women need the same rights as men. So there you are wrong. I am not a hypocrite.
Unless you are in the conservative party you are a hypocrite by default.

" fighting the old boys' network and corrupt politicians, but would turn over the private reproductive decisions of American women to both." This is simply not true. Not one thing about Roe v Wade would ever change without the American system, called democracy, changing it. Sarah Palin can't change it. And, if it would change then trust me it would not merely be good old boys believeing that a baby begins at conception and is due human rights granted to all citizens. It would be women also. And, in a democracy that is the beauty of it. You can think what you want, then it plays out at the ballot box, and you live with what the vote gives you. If you hate it, you work to get your people in there. It is amazing how un-american all you liberals are who do not believe in letting the electorate talk because you believe you are so superior to the millions of Americans both men and women who believe like Sarah, that a baby is a baby no matter how small.

I am amused by the feminists who think Palin's presence is an attempt to gain the Hillary votes. Hillary is not someone the average American woman identifies with. And that is the point, the reason why, we the average American working women who struggle and juggle to excel in our many roles, are fascinated by Palin's accomplishments.

    • Posted By: rube @ 09/08/2008 7:43:48 PM

I am fascinated by the idea that Palin somehow represents a step forward for women?
When in reality the truth is, Palin, nothing more than an a conservative oilwoman and a 72 year old has bee, Mccain would possibly replace two failed GOP oilmen that have ruined our constitution and democracy!
A step up for women- no, she will destroy the greatness that women have accumulated!

Thank you, Anna, for pointing out the ongoing hypocrisy of the Republican party - and Sarah Palin. I'm so angry and disgusted with the hypocrisy of this election that I'm taking time off work to campaign for the Democrats. Although an Obama/Biden supporter, I was planning on voting for my Republican congressman, a man who has worked hard for our district, until I heard his speech lauding Sarah Palin as a qualified Vice Presidential - and Presidential candidate.

    • Posted By: colddeadhands @ 09/08/2008 7:42:44 PM

Thank you for taking time off of work for this, Lucy. Bravo. You would annoy your co-workers to no end and they deserve to be free of angry libs like you to get some actual work done. Somebody has to pay the taxes and keep the economy growing.

  • Posted By: independent in texas @ 09/08/2008 6:18:39 PM

Phill Gramm had it right, a lot of Americans are whiney crybabies wanting someone to take care of them, instead of being free thinking independent stand on your own people. for some unbelievable reason they think they government has an unending supply and should be given a share for nothing. wake up people, GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS DO NOT WORK.

    • Posted By: rube @ 09/08/2008 7:34:32 PM

You deserve more of the same political ideology from the two oilmen in the White House that has put this nation in financial distress in the first place! So now your answer is to put an oilwoman in?
Intelligence is not the conservatives fortay!

    • Posted By: popmanifesto @ 09/08/2008 6:39:30 PM

Tell that to your Republican leaders who have handed out tens of billions of dollars in corporate welfare and who got us into a trillion dollar phony war with no end in sight and have given all the biggest tax breaks to the wealthiest people in the country and who made such a mess of the housing market with their deregulation and refusal to provide any oversight that the government is now bailing out huge lenders. Who do you think pays for all of that? Have you ever thought about that? YOU DO!!!! And so will your children and grandchildren. For some unbelievable reason you don't realize that. Wake up!!!
