This is just the kind of BS I'd expect from a left wing liberal militant feminist like Quindlan.
Here's the left's way of saying what happened with Palin. Republican wome have "Found Their Voice", They are "Speaking truth to Power", We are sick and tired of having tired old has beens saying they speak for women when they never have. The left wing women are sheep.

    • Posted By: rube @ 09/08/2008 7:29:28 PM

Your comment about left wing womenb being sheep is mean and brutal.
But what statistics tell us is that- left wing women are educated, work for themselves and are
      better lovers!

  • Posted By: rube @ 09/08/2008 7:25:16 PM

Palin is anything but a feminist.
But this goes back to McCain. McCain is the ranking GOP senior member official of the current national economic mess!
Never mind what a candidate looks like, his physical attributes or his name, this is "the" fact that is
hindering our businesses, our families our nation everyday!
John McCain is Bush! Same party same ideology same results!

Anna: it seems you're like most people -- nearly totally ignorant about Alaska. Obviously, you have missed the image where the map of Alaska is overlayed on the map of the lower 48 states. Alaska stretches further than it is from Miami, Florida to the Pacific Ocean. Being governor is not the same as being mayor of a large city -- especially considering the diversity of the population of Alaska.

The governor of Alaska is in constant communication with leaders and business people of nations along the Pacific rim. When the Soviet Union collapse, it was Alaskan who were the first to establish people to people ties and state government to state government ties. I have never met the governor of any American state other than Alaska, but I have met the governor of the Russian state in the Russin far east when he came to visit our small Alaskan town the size of Wasilla.

Alaska is a different place with a diverse population doing things no one in the lower 48 would even think of doing. Alaskans are far more tolerant of differences than just about any other state's peoples.

Maybe, you ans the rest of the media should learn more before you make statements that make you appear to be the fool to long term Alaskans.

swagner863 - expanding drilling does nothing for energy independence. In fact it makes it worse. It prolongs the inevitable. Gas should $8 per gallon. Then maybe morons like you will face the reality we have to get off the combustible engine.

    • Posted By: socom1_up @ 09/08/2008 7:08:21 PM

Aggressively developing alternative energy sources while allowing more drilling has already begun to ease energy related pressures in America.

Obama's promises to raise taxes on oil companies may sell well with the unlearned public and the extreme left...but who out there believes that the tax increases won't be passed on at the pump or on your airline ticket price?
Anyone who has hands-on experience in the oilfiled knows that today's environmental protection systems work in keeping the environment clean while enviro-whackos simply recite their latest, off the wall talking points about killing the wildlife which hasn't happened or the photos and stories would be everywhere in the media.

The energy crisis problem wasn't created overnight and won't be solved overnight but we must begin toward energy independence.

Drill now while aggressively pursuing alternative energy sources.

Why can't we all just get along and make a decision that will best benefit "our" country. Forget democrat, forget republican......I'm ready for God to be in control. Thank you President Bush for considering God's opinion. I'll vote for anyone else who does the same. God bless America!!!!!

    Dear Newsweek,

How many Hillary supporters can you find to drone on and on that Sarah Palin is not Hillary? No Sh*t! Sarah has actually has accomplished something. That is the double standard. Sorry to inform the pantsuit brigade, but Hillary, her clothes, and her ideas have been out of step for a long time. Remember the socialized medicine she tried in her hubby's first term. What a disaster that would have been. Why do think Canadians and the British come to the US for medical care? Because their socialized systems are not working. Government is never the answer. It is always the problem in the marketplace.

Back to the subject at hand. The Femocrats are scared that Sarah becomes the standard for the next 20 years as they do not have someone in line that can actually appeal to the middle class. Please whine some more between now and the election. It shows you for what you are.

I'm an American living in Canada. The health care system is NOT falling apart. Do some research before tou make stupid claims like this.

    • Posted By: MotherOfOne28 @ 09/08/2008 9:46:34 AM

What kind of crap are you spewing, what were Palin's accomplishment? How dare you down grade what Hilary has done. I am not a Hillary supporter but you have to give her credit. All I hear is Palin preaching about turning down money for the bridge to nowhere project, but that was after the project tanked among others. I am not saying she did nothing for the people of Alaska, but stop trying to make her seem as if she has all these executive knowledge to bring to the table.

And stop your crap about America's medical care, with people dying on the floor in hospitals.

THE MOST IRONIC THING ABOUT CALLING THE MEDIA SEXIST AGAINST PALIN IS THAT NOTHING IS MORE SEXIST AGAINST WOMEN THAN PALIN'S POLICIES!

  • Posted By: daymh @ 09/06/2008 4:54:41 PM

You fail to mention that the democratic party, the party that has always cradled women's rights, is all of a sudden saying that Palin should be staying home with her kids more so than governing a state or acting as Vice President. So while you think the Republican party has suddenly performed a 360, the democratic party has actually succeeded in achieving hypocrisy. Librals such as Sally Quinn have miraculously found their family values and are worried about Palin being able to balance motherhood with politics. I also find it amusing that you poke fun at Palin's lack of experience when Obama only spent 100 some odd days in the senate, much of which planning his rockstar campaign. The democratic party is the party that has succeeded in being sexist and unfair. While librals barely gave Hillary any air time because the left wing media was soaking up the 'messiah,' Republicans elected a woman as their vice presidential nominee. So in a few months, Republicans will have the satisfaction of being the first party to have a female vice presidential candidate, not the Democratic party.

"Elected" Sarah Palin for VP? Hillary got millions of votes across this country. Sarah Palin got John McCain's.

  • Posted By: MoLarryCurley @ 09/08/2008 6:16:52 PM

Palin should be embarrassed by the way the MCCain/Bush/Rove campaign staff are using her - or NOT using her. Good enough to read their speech but not good enough, trusted enough, smart enough to go face the press or camapaign by herself? How sexist is that?

  • Posted By: swagner863 @ 09/08/2008 5:50:28 PM

No one on McCain's team including Sara Palin has used her PTA time as a reason for executive experience. Palin said she joined the PTA to help make education better for her kids. The author of this article is not being intellectually honest. If she believe her article is honest then she is stupid and ignorant. Which is it?

    • Posted By: popmanifesto @ 09/08/2008 6:14:16 PM

You know so little about Sarah Palin, you haven't even learned how to spell her name yet. You're either not being intellectually honest about her or you're just stupid and and ignorant. Which is it?

    Read this for your daughters!

Senator Clinton and Governor Palin are proof that women can and do diverge on important issues.

Even on the question of whether women should vote!

Most people are totally in the dark about HOW the suffragettes won votes for women, and what life was REALLY like for women before they did.

Suffragettes were opposed by many women who were what was known as 'anti.'

The most influential 'anti' lived in the White House. First Lady Edith Wilson was a wealthy Washington widow who married President Wilson in 1915.

Her role in Wilson's decision to jail and torture Alice Paul and hundreds of other suffragettes will never be fully known, but she was outraged that these women picketed her husband's White House.

I'd like to share a women's history learning opportunity...

"The Privilege of Voting" is a new free e-mail series that follows eight great women from 1912 - 1920 to reveal ALL that happened to set the stage for women to win the vote.

    It's a real-life soap opera! And it's ALL true!

Powerful suffragettes Alice Paul and Emmeline Pankhurst are featured, along with TWO gorgeous presidential mistresses, First Lady Edith Wilson, Edith Wharton, Isadora Duncan and Alice Roosevelt.

There are tons of heartache on the rocky road to the ballot box, but in the end, women WIN!

Thanks to the suffragettes, women have voices and choices!

Exciting, sequential episodes are great to read on coffeebreaks, or anytime.

yo swagner863 - wake TF up! You've had the Exec and Legislative in Republicann control for 6 years. It'll take more than two to clean up those mistakes and abuses.

  • Posted By: agoss @ 09/08/2008 6:05:06 PM

I hope the women of our beautiful country realize that they are being insulted when they're referred to as "Hillary voters" that can be "picked up" or "transferred" to the Palin show like mindless drones. As a minority, I quickly become angry at any insinuations that I support Sen Obama because I'm black. Ladies, what they are really saying when claims are made that your vote follows gender or race is, "you're too stupid or shallow to make a decision based on your knowledge of the issues".

  • Posted By: swagner863 @ 09/08/2008 6:03:43 PM

Wake up Dems. The last two years was your do nothing Dem Congress. Tow years ago gas was $2.30/ gal. It has almost doubled since the Democrats took control. Our economy is like a fire burning hot while the Democratic leadership is a bucket of water. McCain needs to take the fight to both Obama and the Democrat controlled congress. For two years now as they have systematically put pressure on the economy by their statements of doom and their do nothing attitude including refusal to provide hope to the people by expanding drilling to help our energy independence. The democratic leadership is not part of the solution they are part of the problem.
You have to ask yourself, who is the only American group that benefits from an economic slowdown??? it???s the democrat leadership. They need the economy to have problems.

Funny thing is that if Sarah Palin were nominated by Barrack as his running mate, these same liberals would be telling us in fly-over country that she is 'fresh', a 'breath of fresh air', 'feminine yet forceful', etc., etc. This pick demonstrates the cream of wheat filled skulls of individuals that comprise our mainstream media.

    • Posted By: kickoutdajams @ 09/08/2008 6:03:28 PM

Now why would Obama ever pick such an ignoramus in the first place? What a silly thing to consider. I'll throw out the rest of your argument just because you would consider such a thing. Are you crazy?

  • Posted By: swagner863 @ 09/08/2008 5:55:34 PM

The Republicans are not spreading any about Sara Palin taking the Hillary voter. This line of thinking is coming from the dems/bloggs and Obama's surrogates, the news media. Again the author of this article is a moron.

  • Posted By: ConservativeWoman @ 09/08/2008 4:53:18 PM

Governor Palin is the epitome of a feminist - that is before the left hijacked, bastardized and politicized that concept. She is a wife, a mother, and an executive with a high level job. If the left could find a candidate who had all those attributes they would be salivating. The fact of course is that Sarah Palin is the wrong sort of woman because she is not a liberal. The right wing didn't trash the women's movement it just stopped the unnecessary change to the Consitution that the movement demanded.

Isn't that what has already happened?? The Inside job of 911 was to exploit our freedoms and take away our rights!
All you Republican people need to wake the F up!!! Things have gotten WORSE under the control of the Republicans. They had the last eight years to prove they were better instead they proved they were greedier!!
We need to take our country back NOW!! Any one who doesn't vote for Obama is plain blind, dumb or stupid!
The Republicans have BLED us dry and are continuing to OPPRESS us daily! With oil, credit card debt, the medical joke, etc., etc. Come on e people the White House needs an ENEMA!!!

  • Posted By: thinguy @ 09/08/2008 5:31:55 PM

What a great article! As an independent voter and a woman, I found your points to be right on and finding it very difficult to vote Republican this year due to the astounding hypocrisy and mudslinging I've been witness to in this election. So much for running a clean campaign focused on the issues.

    • Posted By: Mark Steven Zuelke @ 09/08/2008 5:41:21 PM

...I think I misunderstand; aren't you speaking of the BHO campaign and so Democrats? Was this a typo?
It is very easy to vote this year - HERO or zero...John McCain and Sarah all the way!!!
