The article is a typical left wing response. I guess you have to have left wing views to be a feminist!

Perhaps Palin announced that her daughter Bristol was pregnant because left wing bloggers we're saying she was actually Triggs mother.

Wasn't Sunday, September 7th the first indepth interview the Joe Biden has done since he was selected as Vice Presdent? Can't wait to see what criticism you'll have after her interview with Gibson.

Good for you, Anna Quindlen!! You spoke up just when I was beginning to despair that the media would once again be bullied into submission by loud-mouthed conservatives (see, e.g., "war on terror"). It's time for people who are sick of this hypocrisy to vote instead of walking away in disgust. That only plays right into neocon hands. Our country has been held hostage by this small minority of intolerant double-talkers for 30 years because too many of the rest of us have given away elections by staying home. Their politics of fear are calculated to keep the majority of us dispirited, hopeless, and demoralized so that they can continue in power. The mainstream media has to share the blame for the state the US is in at home and abroad because it has been afraid to fight fire with fire.

Loudmouthed? Conservatives have taken 40 years of front-to-back slander, libel and smear by every major newspaper and magazine, every network news, even local news. Who sent thugs to the Republican convention? Liberals. Who tried to disrupt Republican convention speeches? Code Stink liberals. Liberal fascists are the bullies. How many blacks dare to vote Republican? Who is using fear tactics?

Enter Your Comment I lost track of the number of non-white faces I saw at the Republican convention....

Wow! Another liberal who can't count (or read election returns for that matter...). 'A minority of double talkers'? I'll help you get a clue using this question: Who was elected President by receiving the MOST votes in our nation's history? (HINT: It was NOT JF Kerry)

      • Posted By: All's Fair @ 09/08/2008 10:21:50 AM

So, then you are saying that you are ALL double-talkers??! I wasn't going that far!

What riles the Left about Sarah Palin is that she debunks many of the myths on which liberal ideology is based. Quindlen defines "women's" issues purely in liberal terms, as if conservatism and femininity are polar opposites. I'm sorry, but to insist that there is only one "proper" point of view that a woman can hold - that is sexist. Quindlen is the sexist here, not the republicans.

The hypocrisy charge is uninformed. Conservatives hold that we should strive for ideals, even though we sometimes fall short of those ideals. Liberals, on the other hand, want to legislatively protect and embrace moral failure. The true hypocrisy here is for the Liberals, who have no problem with teenage sex, to suddenly decry the natural results of the behaviors they advocate.

Of course, what really gets the Left about Palin, is that she and her family have confidently and joyfully chosen a path in the face of adversity that the Liberals claim is an undue burden on women. Palin and her daughter are destructive to the foundational assumptions of Liberal women's ideology, and THAT is what has these folks upset about Palin.

I seem to remember the Dems using sexist attacks against Hillary. I think the Repubs only accused her of being a serial liar who was steeped in allegations of corruption, so I deny that Repubs were critical of her because of sexism. I am happy, however, to note that the liberal attack machine is at it again in the quest to crucify Palin. The liberals never disappoint.

Hypocrisy, like beauty, I guess, must be in the eye of the beholder. Seeing the so-called feminists trash a woman candidate for high office because she doesn't think like them pretty much tells the story. It is so reminiscent of the feminists who rallied around Bill Clinton and trashed the numerous women he serially harassed. Feminism doesn't mean anything anymore other than pro-liberal and pro-abortion.

I'm a Republican woman and hate to burst your bubble, but we have experienced no more or less sexism inside or outside of our party than have Dems. We use the word sexist all the time. Contrary to the belief of the Eastcoast elite, we're not all that different from you. We just don't believe in big government or that the solution to every problem is a new program. We believe in lower taxes. We're not stupid.

Palin is a fraud. Look at the facts about the bridge, tax breaks, corruption, etc. in Alaska. This is a media trick by the Republicans. There are thousands of competent women in the Republican party who could have this candidacy but they would not have attracted the media attention., Palin is the perfect plot - who can beat son going to Iraq on 9/11, baby with special needs who makes you want to ask where's mama when she's needed but you aren't allowed to, daughter who chooses to marry a guy who doesn't want kids, tall, beautiful, cute, charming with words without substance - perfect for prime time TV. And what more did we get for the past eight years. Americans are so busy making ends meet and so distraught by bad news that they can only pay attention for a few minutes. Wading through issues and real truth takes time we don't have. So onward and upward with another disastrous eight years if we don't get serious.

All Obama has to offer is hot air. Change ? Maybe... But what KIND of change ? YOU just don't KNOW... You're HOPING...

      • Posted By: nancysportia @ 09/08/2008 10:15:33 AM

After Bush and the Republicans have destroyed our economy, our jobs, and have borrowed billions against our future, don't use the word HOPE as an expletive. That's about all we have left. I lived through the Viet Nam war, and it is time to let it go. At least McCain came home alive. I remember many who came home in body bags, or are still listed as MIA. I, for one, have hope that we will not again be taken in by the false words and ads of the Republicans. McCain approved one in Florida that says the Democrats ran up the huge deficits. Hah. But, the Republicans have always treated us voters as stupid, and they are doing it again. They have also use the tactic of taking our strength as their own idea, etc. They laugh behind closed doors. I have heard them. Now, they are talking about the "babe," but will tell you that is not sexist. More spin, less content. More of the same.

I'm so tired of the free pass that Palin is getting....she didn't like it when Hillary "whined" but now she's comfortable hiding behind her strong men because she's too fragile to be interviewed. I'm a working mom and I don't take any comfort knowing that she could be that close to the presidency.....she is in no way qualified to be VP. She's quick with the zingers -- let's see if she can take it as well as she can dish it out.

    • Posted By: News and Notes @ 09/08/2008 10:12:07 AM

She is starting interviews Thursday, one week after the convention ends. This seems like a reasonable timeframe. Let's see what she has to say.

  • Posted By: stylish1 @ 09/08/2008 10:10:39 AM

Talk about sexist. "These are people who have inveighed against affirmative action, a version of which undoubtedly played a part in this selection." She was only selected because she is a woman? Blatantly sexist and disqualifies the author from accusing others of hypocrisy.

  • Posted By: TheGuyThatVotes @ 09/08/2008 10:10:35 AM

To all you Obamacrats.. There are some interesting FACTS you are all ignoring.. First - Obama has about as much experience in the Senate as Palin has running Alaska. Obama has been campaigning for almost two full years. He only spent about 2 years ACTUALLY being a Senator. Second - Alaska may only have about 600k residents but its??? large land mass and rich natural resources make it far more difficult to manage then Poughkeepsie, NY and any attempt to link the two to infer that her work does not count is ludicrous and pathetic. Third ??? Democrats have controlled both houses for the last two years. All the Republicans can do is use the veto pen. The dearth of legislation coming from the Pelosi/Reid senate is not McCain???s fault but rather that of Sens. Obama, Biden, Durbin, et. Al.

  • Posted By: xxkingxx @ 09/08/2008 10:09:56 AM

Affirmative action? Let's see; a black man with absolutely no qualifications whatsoever is running for President and is trumped in experience and accomplishment by a woman who is the junior partner on the other ticket. Sounds more like CHECKMATE.

  • Posted By: News and Notes @ 09/08/2008 10:08:26 AM

My fellow Democrats, we cannot blame the Republicans or Sarah Palin for this problem. The DNC and party elites brought it upon us. Obama is the Democratic nominee, and almost all Democrats accept that and will vote for him, but Hillary's successes from March to June should have given superdelegates pause, and for the most part it did not. Obama was all but obligated to put Hillary on the ticket, but he went with someone who is one of the biggest Washington insiders in congress. Obama promised to help with her debt, but covered barely 5% of it.
McCain capitalized on these attributes by chosing Governor Palin, and people trashed Pailn before asking questions. Palin will be granting interviews within one week of the end of the Republican convention, and we are all interested in seeing how her personal choices and opinions translate into her policy opinions. She has shown deference to an Alaska Supreme Court ruling she did not agree with.
What is insulting about this article is that Quindlen thinks it is Hillary's obligation to come out against Palin. Hillary got further in the primaries and showed more deference to the nominee than anyone before her, and has gotten very little for her graciousness.
Sarah Palin doesn't hold a candle to Hillary Clinton. However, give McCain credit. He can go on be his true self as a maverick, and leave the base for Palin to take care of. McCain has a lot more political savvy than anyone originally thought, and that should give all of us pause.

what most everyone fails to see, is that there is a fundamental difference between Mrs. Palin and Mrs. Clinton. Sarah is a real wife and mother and working woman, that I can have deep respect for. Mrs. Clinton is a pretend wife. I have no respect for a woman who stands in the public eye to represent women and for the sake of her future career let's her pretend husband humiliate her time and time again with out standing up and fighting for respect, at the very least from her husband. What kind of example has she ever set for women who are abused by their husbands. To compare the two women shows that you still don't get it.

    • Posted By: All's Fair @ 09/08/2008 10:07:30 AM

Oh, so now Hillary and others who keep their families together and work through marital problems with Christian forgiveness are evildoers?? You can't stop with the hypocrisy, can you?

"Another women who doesn't get it. Palin"s appeal is her accomplishment without having to use sexism as an excuse for failure. She has earned her place through hard work and good ideas."

Another man who doesn't get it. Gov Palin was in the position to accomplish what she did because of Sen Clinton's generation. Palin had the opportunity to become who she is because of the women who have fought sexism all their lives. The women who fought for Title IX. They can spot it loud and clear and it is clearly there.

You are a man. You can no more understand sexism as you can't pregnancy. Similarly, whatever the color of your skin you can never understand what it is like to be another.

And this is truly uninformed: "having to use sexism as an excuse for failure."

If you are making reference to Sen Clinton--she never said or implied that she didn't win because of sexism. She remarked that it had taken a big role in the coverage. That it was there and nothing was done about it. The self-proclaimed no old Washington politics, above the fray, transcender of race and man of integrity promising to UNIFY! and bring CHANGE! allowed his opponents to be called racists but when his pastor of twenty years--who married him and baptized his children--was clearly seen raging at rich white ladies and WHITE AMERICA (typical white persons) he gave a speech on racial intolerance and did nothing about it himself. He never once (still hasn't) reached out to the black community to put an end to the perception of Clintons as racists.

Obama's words are just that. Or if he does act - his actions do not mirror the words - exhibit A: Iraq.

Sarah Palin is an American success story for females and the leftist feminazis are left out of the PICTURE, Thats what angers them, The first female VP and the leftist Fems will have no PART in it,

  • Posted By: Truth Serum 32 @ 09/08/2008 9:38:31 AM

Dear Anna, you don't get it. What Republican is saying as you put it "that one woman is just the same as another ?" Many of us would vote for Sarah, but not Hillary. Sarah's character and message counts. Choosing to appreciate the life of her down syndrome son compared to Hillary's demeaning attitude of stay at home mom's "baking cookies" matters..

    • Posted By: All's Fair @ 09/08/2008 10:01:30 AM

Sarah is all talk while Hillary is action. Remember that it was Hillary who postponed her ambitions to care for her family!!

This is just like the GOP ,they have always been the party of doulbe standards.. They talk about MCCAin being a war hero but they made John Kerry being a VET and made it like it was nothing that was because Bush was a coward. Now they dangle Palin in front of women and we are suppose to be happy. She is a fake and could not shine Hillary's shoes. If this was Chelsea or one of Barack's daughthers they would be all over this. But the bottom line is I hear all the same crap in all of their speeches 9/11 I am a war hero I am a pit bull and we can keep you safe and Barack will get us bombed agian and kill your babies. But in the mean time Barack and Biden are lying out ideas and plans of how we are going to get this country back where it should be. Keep all your Neocon I love this country more then you do crap to yourself . You had this country for the last 8 eights and you have made it into a joke. Its time to take you old ideas and Your moosebuger loving fake and retire the GOP has Jump The Shark

      Dear Navymom06,
Please set down the crack pipe and step away from the computer. You are an embaressment to all Obama supporters and , unless you are a GOP troll in whcih case you're very clever, would do better to shut up and let the grown ups deal with this issue. Try reading what you write before you post it and maybe you won't make such a fool of yourself in the future.

I am a very smart single parent who has put 4 children through college. I have to sons fight in this Bush war one just returned from the Gulf . So know I don't have a crack pipe to put down but I do know that my country is hurting badly and McCain and Palin are not the way to go.
