Let's look at the issues, and vote for who you believe will represent you best. We basically have two choices. Stop all this other crap. I'm so sick of this. It's so tiring. If you think McCain is great, then wonderful. Vote for him and Palin! If you like Obama and Biden.. vote for them! This is an important election. Unfortunately, I doubt either will do much to change the way things are. Do we want to "break china" or do we want to listen to one another? They're all smart people, with glaringly different views on how to run the country. I'm sick of the sarcasm and personal attacks though. Let's move past this please!!!! Read the article here too, don't just jump all over other ideas. I think this author made a great point. Those people at the convention wearing "hot chick" should be ashamed. Pathetic.

Times are changing and they are changing fast. I find it astonishing that the people who boast of being open minded are finding themselves in a situation where they can???t keep up. Sarah Palin is here ??? change is here and I think the Democrats will be left behind in denial and clinging to the mantra that they are the ONLY ones that could have brought that change. In the end Sarah Palin will move forward not because of the liberal democratic version of the women???s movement but ultimately in spite of it. It won???t matter why or how the republicans stole your mantra ??? it will have just happened. I???d like someone to explain how 90%+ of Blacks support Obama ??? that would be interesting.

Conservatives aren't opposed to women DOING anything. Conservatives don't begrudge any woman her rights - what they're opposed to are self-destructive philosophies that attack the family. The feminist movement was hijacked early on by lesbians and militant anti-men types so that the only thing we've heard from these people, or have bothered to lead the feminist movement, seem to be bitter anti "everythings". The great thing about Palin is that she's not anti, she's pro. She's doesn't complain bitterly about everything she doesn't want to do but in fact embraces a full plate with no apparent hindrances or regret. What would ya'll prefer, a woman so bombarded that she can't handle it?

Alaska is a harsh state, given the climate and the many months they endure darkness. It seems to support Alaskans' idea they are better than the 49 other states.I 've been reading all about Alaska since Palin got the nomination and it is simply different from most other states. It seems to be one of the most conservative states, one of the wealthiest, gets 10 times the earmarks and federal funds other states get, has an extremely conservative tax policy and the highest high-school drop-out rate in the country. Palin is against abortion even if a young person is raped or the victim of incest but she actually reduced the funding for a program for pregnant teens last year from 8 million to 3 million dollars, essentially decimating it. Read up on Alaska if you want to know about Palin. It's an eyeopener.

I am a proud 36 year old Christian professional woman, mother of three, and wife to a wonderful man. I am pro life but believe the answer comes through understanding and love, not hate and bombings. My oldest daughter is the result of a teenage pregnancy. I believe we are responsible for our own actions and the results of those actions. I LOVE my life. I AM an Evangelical and love how liberal women seem to truly KNOW what I believe; when in fact they have no clue. The press needs to start listening to Christian caring women of my generation. We are not the "same old, same old". We have our own minds (yes, even my beautiful friends that CHOOSE to stay at home have brains and opinions!). I can't wait until the press finally catches up with all of us :o)

Further, though, if want to make your choices normative for everyone and politicize them, implying that you are going to use force to make everyone do as you do, expect some resistance. That's what politics reduces to in the end, the sanction of society to use force against those who do not comply with what that society deems normative. Far too many Evangelical's want to politicize their beliefs, and thus sanction the use of force against the heathen for Jesus sake. Would the Jesus you know want that?

Scroll up to read about feminists and l,iiberals. There are generalizations on both sides. Maybe we could get somewhere in this country, if we spoke for ourselves and listened to others. I'll admit its not easy when your personal ethics and morals are at stake.

Bravo! I am glad to hear you are content and happy with your life. I also agree that if a person is happy with their life, its not the place of some group with opposing points of view to harangue them about their poor choices. Choosing to be a homemaker is a career choice, and its nobodies business but yours and your life partners.

Hillary Clinton baked cookies as the first lady in the white house and did not even know Bill was having an affair which almost got him kicked out of the presidency. Given her time in the White House not knowing what was going on with her husband, that definitely made her knowledgeable on foreign affairs. So sad your party does not own up to this.

For all their claims about putting America first and standing up to foreign threats, all it takes to "energize" Republicans is an anti-choice candidate. A highly personal matter is their single, sorry litmus test.

On a conservative blog I read today, a very polished writer asserted he could not vote for Obama-Biden because they wanted to put live aborted babies on shelves to die. Somebody is telling these poor saps stories, and they're buying them.

Nicely said. I'm sure Sarah Palin is a smart, ambitious woman but I'm not voting for her because I don't like her politics. And to call any questioning of her sexist, is just silly. And for those Republicans who continually picked on Hilliary (who I didn't vote for either) and now cry foul - pay back is tough, isn't it?

  • Posted By: psychnurse @ 09/07/2008 1:14:50 PM

You didn't mention McCain's jokes about Chelsea and Reno. So far, the only thing I have found sexist is the McCain campaign's decision to keep her away from the press. Would they keep a relatively unknown male from the press?

Wasn't it Dan Quayle who not so long ago raged against promiscuity and babies born out of wedlock....and aimed his criticism at a fictional TV character (Murphy Brown)? Yes indeed. I have had enough of the GOP's so-called "family values," which they seem to preach for everyones' families but their own (Larry Craig, Tom Foley, Ted Haggard, etc....line 'em up). Sarah Palin, I'm sure made a great PTA member (although even her fellow Wasillans noted that she wasn't all that active for all that long). And she's a great example of the Peter Principle, and that one should never be elevated beyond one's level of competence. This is GOP pandering of the worst kind, and as a woman, I can't believe other women are falling for it. Again.

Palin's strings are now being orchestrated by the same peopled (Rove, Schmidt) who danced Dubya in front of us as "regular guy" and "accomplished governor." Whole helluva lot of good that did us, eh?

Just because Governor Palin disagrees with your views on issues relating to women or the role of government in such issues doesn't make her any less pro woman than you. You sound as hypocritical as those you acuse.

I will say it again. Palin unfortunately represents all women right now due to the lack (in comparison to men) of powerful women in politics. I cringe when I think of this poorly educated right wing extremist somehow representing me. The Republican Party has truly lost its way, and I am speaking as a former black Republican. We use to stand for civil rights for all, hard work, and traditional American values. Now, we stand for whatever our politicans want. We follow without question. We cater to bigots. It's sad.

  • Posted By: sharonf @ 09/07/2008 6:05:27 AM

Right on, Anna. The hypocrisy of the right that this campaign is highlighting is stunning, and not just in terms of sexism and choice. Palin's claims to be an anti-Washington reformer fly in the face of the facts that she supported the bridge to nowhere and kept the money when it was cancelled and that, when mayor, she hired a lobbyist to bring in big pork to her town.

Take a close look at what is really going on. Evangelicals believe that women should stay at home with their children and be submissive to their husbands. Sarah???s philosophies are NOT aligned with Evangelicals. In fact, she is really a feminist from the Susan B. Anthony branch who looks at abortion as a way to control and victimize women (in other words, she is not pro-life for the same reasons). Sarah is really in the pocket of the oil companies. The war in Iraq was about oil and now the GOP's new mantra is "drill, drill, drill". The underlying issue is control of existing energy resources (and any new resources). If you look at Sarah's record, that is really her main objective.

  • Posted By: targa @ 09/06/2008 4:28:33 PM

The worst example we could set for our children is to elect a President who is an admitted ex cocaine user and a man who spent 20 years listening to a racist Reverend with a militant wife who was never proud to of her country until people started to worship her husband.
