The link below contains a purported list of the top 25 in Congress who got contributions from the folks at Fannie and Freddie. Obama is listed third, after Dodd and Kerry, even though Obama is just a junior Senator. Obama is followed next by Clinton. Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi are on the list as well.

've had about enough of Pallin and her oft repeated lies (which the GOP coughs up repeatedly in ads). She did NOT reject the "Bridge to Nowhere", Congress did. But, she still took the money. This is not "change" for the old pork barrel earmarks oft heralded by the McCain campaign. And, I was curious about her first child - was she premature. I found it interesting that she elopes and eight months later gives birth. Hmmmmm.

Let's focus on Obama and McCain! Whose running for President. Sarah Palin has been on the cover of Newsweek for two weeks in a row - enough is enough! Our country has REAL issues - stop focusing on the beauty queen who has 5 things to offer: creationism in schools, corruption, hypocrisy, arrogance and little experience. Media - I beg you to stop being manipulated by the political machine!

Kathleen Deveny (Sept. 15 issue, ???Yep, I???m a Liberal Palin Fan???) should have kept that confession hidden deep in her diary. I, too, am a liberal, but I find her admiration for Sarah Palin depressing, even if she isn???t going to vote for her. If I extrapolate from favorable comments re the newly energized Republican ticket, I wonder if Americans realize the kind of ???want ad??? they???re, in essence, writing. Would a want ad for professional medical help look like this?

WANTED: Surgical team to save the life of loved one severely injured in accident. Must have the following qualifications:

    1. Must be just like us; people we can relate to???maybe even have a beer
    with.
    2. Must own guns and enjoy hunting (especially moose).
    3. Must understand the meaning of patriotism. (The definition submitted must include the term ???POW???.)
    4. Chief surgeon must not have a funny name.
    5. Chief surgeon must be assisted by a second-year med student (special consideration given to a lipstick-festooned female student).
    6. The assistant must be able to verbally energize the anesthetized patient.
    7. Surgical team must know and be able to state in precise terms when the soul enters the body. It???s important to be able to properly identify it after patient is opened up. (Sometimes it???s absent.)
    8. Chief surgeon must be a card-carrying member of a professional association which has recently supervised the disembowelment of the Hippocratic Oath.
    9. Team members must proudly wear the Caduceus on their surgical gowns (to avoid any doubt about devotion to their profession).
    10. No blacks, gays or suspected Muslims need apply.

If voters wouldn???t choose surgeons based on these standards, why would they choose their President and Vice President this way?

On page 30 in your cover story on Sarah Palin you used the term Big Oil. I didn't know the term big oil had become a proper noun. If so, to whom does Bog Oil refer?

Boy Scouts know it, Girl Scouts know it and members of the military know that to wear the flag of the United States of America as an article of clothing is to show disrespect and contempt for that flag. Until struck down by the U.S. Supreme court there were laws against such activity and the Congress of the United States continues work toward re-establishing flag desecration laws.

Apparently some of the people running for the highest office in the land care less about the flag, one of the most recognized symbols of U.S. unity, than they do about what they believed would be a cute political stunt.

Sarah Palin???s wearing of the U.S. flag in a full page picture in a major news magazine published around the world for all to see is flag desecration. If wearing of the flag was done out of ignorance, then a widely published apology is due the people of the United States. If wearing of the flag was indeed to show disrespect, voters will need to decide how best to deal with that disrespect at polling time.

See United States of America Flag Code, section 8 for reference.

Interesting cover! Is this is Gov. Palin ready for her daughter's shotgun wedding? Or is this her version of "Bring it on" re Pres Bush?

This cover picture is not only in extremely poor taste, but bad judgment as well. The last time I remember seeing a vice president toting a gun on the cover of Newsweek, (Feb 2006) was because he accidently SHOT somone!
Just WHAT exactly is the point here????

What has happened to the media? We are facing some of the greatest challenges in our countries history, yet all I see and hear in the news are worthless snippets regarding both the republican and democratic candidates. News networks and hosts banter endlessly about trivial occurrences; pigs with lipstick. Move on!! What happened to the media; ABC, CBS, FOX, CNN, etc? It appears that each resorts to tabloid tactics, endlessly discussing over and over everything but news! I want to know what specifically how the candidates plan to deal with the economy, jobs, dependency of foreign fossil fuels???. It appears sensationalism and viewership numbers is more newsworthy and more important than real substantive issues facing this country. Too many Americans rely upon cable television for their only source of news. Newspaper subscribership is dwindling and fewer people read magazines than ever before. This leaves the average person dependent upon television to learn what is occurring in the world. The media has a responsibility. Raise the bar. Be objective. Be responsible.

Newsweek, like all liberal media, printed the picture of Palin on todays issue to make sure the anti gun crowd knew her pro gun leanings. And I'm sure it worked.
But every gun toting Democrat in the country that even passes a news stand will now vote for McCain.
    Woo Hoo.
