Please. Yes, Sarah might be a nice person to drive to the soccer game with, but that isn't how we should be voting. And to show that this is not a sexist remark, I will say that look at what has happened the last eight years that people felt they would rather drink a beer with Bush and Gore or Kerry. As a result of those actions, we have endured eight years of the worst, autocratic, incompetent President that has destroyed any respect from other countries. Please, let us vote on issues, not on coziness.

Why all the debate about Sarah Palin what about debating the experience of Barak Obama? Or is that off the table because he has Biden?

  • Posted By: mimi362 @ 09/15/2008 4:54:15 PM

Sandra31708- It's clear that you believe everything Obama is dishing out. I'm sorry when something goes wrong it isn't always the fault of McCain/Palin. Maybe that's what I don't like about Obama. He is always trying to blame someone else, get someone else to bail us out - What happened to working hard taking the punches and coming out stronger what happened to that idea?

Well I too am a Hillary Clinton supporter and i am really starting to get annoyed at the people who are telling me I can't vote for Sarah Palin- I say wait and see. I want a woman in office now not in 12 years but besides that I don't like Obama or trust his judgment after all if his judgment was so good He would have chosen Hillary Clinton as his running mate and We wouldn't be having this conversation.would we?

It saddens me that after 35+ years of trying to gain respect for ourselves as woman, now that a woman is actually a candidate on a presidential ticket, she is "not quite right" for the feminists. In fact, she reflects exactly what the feminist movement was all about...... that a woman has a right to do whatever she wants and those around her have no right to criticize her choice. It seems to me that the "movement" has deemed a successful woman is only successful if she the follow lock-step with its leaders.

After watching Palin's painful failure to know what the "Bush Doctrine" is during her interview with Charlie Gibson, I can say yes without equivocation. Yes, you *are* a sucker.

If Sarah Palin were a man, would McCain even have considered her for the Vice Presidency?
It feels as though Americans have lost their common sense completely.

NOW THAT YOU HAVE CONFESSED, I SUGGEST THAT YOU GO AND KNEEL DOWN ON THE CLOSEST CORNER OF YOU ROOM AND PRAY THAT IF SARA LIPSTICK AND McSAMENESS WIN IN NOVEMBER, THEY WON'T WALK US RIGHT INTO WWIII DUE TOT THEIR PREMATURE AND RECKLESS DECISON- MAKING. PRAY THAT NOTHING HAPPENS TO McCAIN WHILE IN OFFICE. THIS IMATURE, UNPREPARED, INEXPERIENCED, RASH, AND HASTY WOMAN WILL THEM BECOME PRESIDENT: THIS IS MY OPINION AND I APPROVE THIS MESSAGEK! HELL NO, SARA NO!

I just found this page on the Newsweek site; it took me a while to figure this out. I have never written an online comment on a story, and am surprised at the incredibly long list of comments, too long to read everything. So my comments may be repetitive, but I will keep them short.
I have lost a lot of respect for Newsweek, for taking an entire page of the magazine for Deveny's gushing. To say that she likes Palin simply because she is a woman is so ridiculous. I may just as well choose my dentist because he has a nice smile, regardless of whether he even has a dental degree.

Sarah has the woman vote because most American women, 92%!!! believe in our shared Christian Faith. I loved watching Sarah last night! She won't blink at using nuclear weapons to protect us from Russia and Islam. The Bullies have used the fear of dying to emasculate us. Who would think a woman would be the one chosen by God to remind us that His Will demands obedience not fear. My guess is that after we show Islam and Russia and Iran the awesome power of annihilation, something big may happen. God is not going to sit on the sidelines forever waiting for to wake up. Miss Deveny has heard the wake up call to arms that Sarah is sounding.

God Bless the USA and God bless Sarah!

i think i see what you are saying: god is american and isn't adverse to nuclear war?

    • Posted By: kle5507 @ 09/12/2008 5:32:52 PM

This is why men are afraid to make women president. One bad day with PMS and they nuked the world. This chick is psycho! And this commentor is psycho! Even Reagan didn't want' to risk Nuclear War over a small piece of real estate like Georgia. The right way of doing it to give them arms to fight their own wars. If Palin becomes president, I'm moving to South America! Too many hockey mom pyscho chic ready to start WWIII. Lady, if there's every a war with Russia, you and I will mostly be dead in 30 minutes. You are one Dumb A$$. Your faith will lead to your own destruction.

I am disgusted that the author of this article is from my home state of Minnesota, which, like the nation, has fallen into disrepair(literally, note the 35W bridge collapse) under the Republican rule we've endured. To think a woman...just 'any old woman', will satisfy is classic "Good Old Boys' thinking. The woman to hold the second highest office in the land should be there because she is QUALIFIED to be there, not just to fulfill mmore political pandering. How can so many Americans be so dumb? Actually that waxs the headline of a European paper 4 years ago when Bush was re-elected. Learn from history, or be condemned to repeat it. Wake Up.

I am disgusted to think the writer of this nonsense is from my home state Minnesota, which, like the nation, is falling in disrepair (literally, note the 35W bridge collapse) under the Republican Administration (Pawlenty/Molnau) we've been enduring. Palin - "All show & no substance"....will most Americans fall for anything? A woman who wanted rape victims to PAY for the test to prove the crime is MILES...LIGHT years away from a woman of substance, such as Hillary Clinton. Wake up America. The day a woman gets elected to the second highest office in the land, just because she is a woman, will not be a great gain for the women in this country. It'll be just more pandering..like I said "all show & no substance". Get real

I think that, sadly, you represent what's happened to American politics -- people are more interested in whether the candidate's carefully crafted media image makes him/her a "guy/gal like me" than whether, if elected to office, the candidate will govern with ethics and transparency, respect the US constitution, or follow the policies that will best serve the American people. As is coming out in more and more articles reported from Alaska, Palin's tenure in office showed her to be a vindictive and partisan politician who used her power to appoint unqualified high school and junior-high friends to high-paying government jobs. She fired opponents for ideological reasons or simply because of personal grudges. She ran both Wasilla and, later, the state of Washington almost purely on federal pork (in addition to the windfall profits that Alaskans are sharing from Big Oil, while the rest of the country suffers from high gas prices).
Please drink beer with your friends -- and vote sober!

This whole new Palin movement is absolutely unbelievable! Really People? Are we that easy of suckers? And women who cannot see the truth here need to wake up! This is nothing more than a strategic political marketing concept. And this is exactly the marketing concept that McCain's team new would work and boy did it! I have a hard time reading Kathleen Devenys essay about how she feels about Sarah. She should be embarrassed. As a women growing up in Wisconsin, hunting is not something new or extraordinary, nor is fishing or hanging with the boys on weekend sporting events. But this is not what has me amazed in this whole political nightmere. As a former young teenage mother, and now a successful business owner, I can appreciate and admire the achievement, hardworking, discipline and glass ceiling stairs that Sarah Palin has had to climb to get to where she is today. But again she is nor more extrodinary than any of the other millions of women who have been doing the same for many years. But the biggest problem with Sarah and this whole marketing scheme is this; (And Why the Obama/Biden campaign is not running with this...I do not understand)
if she is such a "pro" women advocate and pro-life supporter why did she fail to provide birth control to her young teenage daughter? And this has nothing to do with her daughter! As a former young teenage mother I know first hand the oppression, frustration, set-backs, financial disappointments and college hardships this situation is going to her daughter. And now they are going to make it right with a marriage that may or may not even last a decade. For a career driven, glass ceiling breaker, hang with the wildlife boys life-timer, she should have taken all precautions ( are there not condoms or the shot in Alaska) to prevent this misfortune event to have happened to her daughter. I believe that being a pro-lifer means protecting and wanting the best for all lives no matter how young or old. As a Governor, what kind of example did she just display for all the other Alaskan families who are struggling to keep their young teenagers on the path of least resistance through life. I too have young beautiful daughters and this has been a priority for many years. I just am really amazed and proud of how far women have come today and the roads that have been paved for future women governors, senators, business owners, and vice presidents. I hope that women who can vote in the future don't get thrown a campaign line this because for some it will be hook line and sink again!

truly disappointed in any women who are torn and vote for McCain/Palin just because she is a glass ceiling women!

Miss Deveny has it exactly right. I just finished watching Sarah destroy Charlie Gbson. Gibson kept asking "Gotcha" questions and Sarah stuck with her faith. Christians are not afraid to die, and while we know war is hell, we also know hell is hell.

Sarah speaks for me and I welcome a war with the new soviet union whether that war is nuclear or not. Islam and Communism have just met their worst enemy, a plain spoken Harry Trumen woman named Sarah who will drop the bomb on our enemies and challenge THEM to try any funny business.

God told us to worsip Him and if His Will is nuclear anihilation, then maybe that WILL be the next step. God knows our society bears no resemblance to adherence to the Bible.

    Hooray for Sarah!

It's very nice that you like Sarah Palin but like most liberal feminists you can't wrap your head around the fact that "pro-choice" doesn't necessarily mean your choice so the fact that she chose to bring a Down Syndrome child into the world offends you. That she went back to work "too soon" offends you. That she is so "unauthentic" by your standards offends. You and your smug pseudo sophisticated commissars are a distinct minority,as we are now seeing.Take a fleet enema and get over yourselves

"It's very nice that you like Sarah Palin but like most liberal feminists you can't wrap your head around the fact that "pro-choice" doesn't necessarily mean your choice "

choise works both ways. please don't tread on the constition and my own choice.

Women should vote for Sarah because she is a woman. Unlike Hillary, Sarah has a passionate marriage to the catch of our time. Sarah's appeal is to bring non-believers, and "Cafeteria Believers" (like Miss Deveny, by her own admission) into God's plan for us.

Sarah is not afraid of war with Islam or Russia or anyone. Her son ges thrown out of hockey games because he is aggressive. That is the kind of aggressive spirit we need. If we have to drop nuclear weapons on Russia or Islam to get their attention, so be it. With Sarah in the White House God will be the guide.

will be in command. Remember, the prayer says HIS WILL BE DONE> If we are in the right

Kathleen, God bless you. Governor Palin is a great example to women that are talented yet love their families. I know from experience that when two people get married, opposites attract. Todd is the strong silent type that can handle taking care of those children. In case, you missed it, this has been happening all over this great country for 30 plus years. Strong capable women that choose the fast track while strong capable men, that are secure in their masculinity, take care of the kids. Not to mention, the fact that Governor Palin has said she wouldn't be able to do what she does without the support of all her family. (probably strong capable grandmas.) You are right to be impressed with Governor Palin. Let's support our sister in ambition in November.

props to sarah palin for her committment to her family and her ambition. but what does this have to do w/ possibly running the free world? let's keep some perspective, people!

i'd like to suggest people look beyond sarah palin's perceived personality when choosing qualifications for the president of the united states (yes, president). we made a big mistake voting twice for a "nice guy" you'd like to have a beer with.
