I believe that Gays should have equal rights as everyone else. I'm not sure what party I am seeing as I'm only 15 I cant have a say in the vote for president. What I dont see is how the comments on Ellens wedding went from her being gay and her show being lame to a discussion on religion and polotical standing. I do agree her show is a little dull and unintresting but that has nothing to do with her wedding does that? What people should do is just comment on if they think it was right or wrong. Debating over the internet is the stupidest thing you can do, if you win you still loose because of the fact that over the internet your words loose all meaning.

    • Posted By: bojack27 @ 09/08/2008 12:40:03 PM

Then why are you here? If you think debating over the internet is a waste of time then why post?

      • Posted By: observer101 @ 09/08/2008 8:47:31 PM

15 is hardly an age to be debating on any issues..You cant even keep your room cleaned let alone have to be told to go to bed...Just ROCK THE VOTE when you turn 18...Even then THEY are still know nothings...They just follow what culture is different or against what they are taught to show their parents they are grown up...Hardly think ANY teen should be standing up to serious issues until they fully know what they are talking about or REALLY experienced something of a life other than arguing w/ mom and dad regarding bed time or video games...And by the by the internet and blogs allow ppl to voice their opinions no matter how the headlines read...The topics, as does life, evolves as someones point of view is expressed regarding the subject and how they came to their conclusions on the header topic...Until you understand that, you shouldnt really voice an opinion that has not experienced life in any real shape or form...Enjoy life as a teen and dont worry about grown up topics yet. Stay in school and have fun.

you know what, screw you. you adults are always telling us 'get involved, know whats going on with our country, start having your own opinions!' ya, well, u kno i took that advice, and teen or not i am allowed to have an opinion, and AbsentMind was simply voicing his/hers. Believe it or not, we ARE capable of deep thinking. so shut up and quit
          a)generalizing
          b)stereotyping
          c)patronizing
          d)all of the above.
          CORRECT ANSWER: D
so shove THAT down your standardized-testing supporting throats.

You are a fine example of a know nothing that just spouts his or hers little mouth and looks stupid doing so..When a parent tells a child to have an opinion it doesnt mean to go and start disrespecting adults with what YOU think should happen...If you want to pretend to be an adult and spout your little opinion, then expect to be judged like adults do to one another...Stop cry babying because you dont like what a poster says. We are NOT your parents will have no problem letting you know that YOU are still a child since you want to post your age..(which by the way is stupid) You bet Im patronizing to a little smart mouth that hasnt been around the "block" in life and thinks he/she can tell adults whats what. Wait for life to really take hold before you give an opinion you really know nothing about and expect negative feedback like..."A little back hand or spanking to a smart mouthed child by the parents is whats missing in our society"...Instead you are up at ungodly hours of the night, no doubt hiding what you are doing from mommy and daddy, chatting w/ ppl you dont want them to know about and planning to kill this teacher or that for not giving you an A for doing nothing but skipping school..You teens nowadays have no respect for ANYONE, not even yourselves...All you kids think of is what you can get from someone else, beating each other up and posting it on Youtube for a good time and 5 seconds of fame and arguing w/ parents about why you shouldnt have ANY rules.. What the hell is wrong w/ you kids to think that way?..Go to a Nickelodeon site and play there..Leave the big boy sites to the adults. Im well aware that not ALL kids are like I described...But you, like I pointed out earlier, are a fine example of a child trying to tell an ADULT whats what, when you really havent a clue..Night Night...P.S. The Real World on M-TV isnt the real world, Paris Hilton really doesnt want to be your BFF, and Next'd isnt a real word...Sorry to shoot down your hopes of making it big on a reality show....

For anyone judging the marriage of ellen this is to you. I am not gay, however, and actual judge passed the law. The law that allows for this to take place, so as a logiacal notion it is correct. For those who say it is morally wrong I ask this, have you ever sinned? If at all the answer is yes than you are in NO position to judge. If for some reason you feel that you have the ability to judge than I ask that you do so while over a body of water, obviously your opinions would be heard as you walk over it.

This is just sick. It's depraved sexual behavior and it's promotion by the Democrat party and the press is deplorable.

VOTING FOR A DEMOCRAT IS GAY

    DON'T BE GAY.

But if you do vote for a Democrat expect more of this depravity.

well observer101 thanks for the diatribe directed at no one in particular. I love how persecuted all you Christian types pretend to be just because we "liberals" demand that the Constitution actually be upheld. Poooor Christians can't pray in school b/c we actually follow the rule of law in tthis country. Waaaaah.
If you want a fundamentalist state, move to Afghanistan. Honestly, you have more in common with those people than you do any American.

    • Posted By: observer101 @ 09/08/2008 9:07:11 PM

Your welcome!...And I dont think that the Constitution was created with homosexuality in mind..Like it or not lib, they were God fearing ppl...Does that mean that we ALL should be God fearing ppl?..Hell no! But you bet your *** Im in no way going to be told by ppl that I should just accept Ellens marriage as a great day in history because it was "SOOO beautiful and golly we just like her and that silly dance she does before every show."...As I said before, Im not against ppl being happy..They can do want they want...But anyone that believes that celebs should marry and are trully happy are idiots...Givem a couple of years and we will all be enjoying their just as public divorce and settlement agreements. Heck you may even shed a tear....As far as upholding the Constitution, libs dont want to uphold it...They want to manipulate it to their own ideals...Religion made this country and todays "libs" hate it...I by the way didnt introduce religion into my earlier post...But since Libs love to use religion against every fabric of what made this country, Im willing to play that card...Im not willing to say their isnt a God to fit in or to piss my parents off...And if you dont believe then its just a lib default...And for athiests sake you better hope to God their isnt a God..lol or youll be up shite creek...

Does anyone even read their Bibles anymore. God plainly warns us about the sad shape of our morals in this world as a whole! Disagree or agree, it doesn't change the word of God. His guidelines for the way we conduct ourselves is the same today as it was 2000 years ago. We are already suffering as a country for not holding up the morals he gave us. Don't get mad at me, talk to Jesus, that is if you truly do believe in him. By the way, I think Ellen is great! I really like her as a Comedian and a person, but that still doesn't make it right.

  • Posted By: klgrube @ 09/10/2008 2:46:30 AM

I only have a couple of comments. First of all, who cares? In what universe is the wedding of a couple of gay semi-celebrities news? Why is this even being covered here? Second, I do hope these two don't feel too bad when their so-called 'marriage' gets rescinded after the November election when California's Marriage Protection Amendment (Prop 8) gets passed. They should have stuck with a domestic partnership. No one knows what's going to happen to these marriages after the election. And trust me, stories like this are causing such a backlash that this ballot measure is going to pass. So, if nothing else, this publicity has served to energize those who support traditional marriage. Just remember, there is no such thing as a gender-neutral marraige. Ever. Hey, what's next? Gender-neutral birth certificates? .

My neighbor fell in love with his dog and thinks I should mind my own business when they make out in his front yard. Personally I find it disgusting, but in the name of diversity, I now cheer him on in his newfound love and support them every chance I get.

Last weekend my neighbor, Bill, and his girlfriend, Crackers, came over for some steaks and Puppy Chow. Crackers really is a nice puppy and she makes Bill happy. Sometimes it's a little awkward when they caress each other or kiss at the table, but I've gotten used to it. They're even looking into adoption now to have a baby together. Crackers never had any pups of her own, but would like to try and make it work.

Anyways, to each their own. I've got my eye on a corpse at the cemetery for my new girlfriend. I'll post later and let you know how it turns out.

wow lol im not sure if you are supporting ellen or making fun of her, but whatever the case, your comment made me laugh. lol

  • Posted By: Paradox @ 09/09/2008 11:48:42 AM

Wow. This entire discussion has gotten sort of off-topic. Okay, hate Ellen or love her. For pity???s sake, take the religious and political fighting elsewhere. I think it???s crazy that people can???t just let people be people.

You really want to fight this out? Look throughout history and see what you see. Individuals of African-American heritage were not allowed to vote, share space with Caucasians, considered inferior. Women were not allowed to vote. Those things were all changed in legislation because there was a time for change, a time for equality. America is about diversity, fairness, acceptance, and equality. Once people realize that, the country will be a better place.

Gay individuals are certainly not a lesser human being. They are just in love with someone. Telling me or you or Ellen not to fall in love with a particular person is not right. If you believe in that, you might as well participate in arranged marriages ??? so, get rid of your current partner, because you just lost your right to choose. To deny who you???re in love with is to deny a part of yourself. Right, wrong, or indifferent, love crosses boundaries.

We all have differing views. We all feel strongly about our core set of values, our ethics, our belief systems. And we all need to accept those in other people. Sure, we won???t always agree, but it doesn???t mean we have to put each other down for it.

We???re all different. We???re all the same. Why in the world can???t we all just get along?

I'm not usually happy for anybody, but I sure am for Ellen. And the gay and lesbian issue is a non-issue in my family. The only comment I made about this to my family was "Ellen invited only 19 people". And my cousin responds, "Yeah, I wonder why she did not invite 20".

  • Posted By: cbinpa @ 09/08/2008 2:29:09 PM

Pleeeease bojack27, why will greater commitment in the form of Marriage hurt the institution of marriage in any way? Your arguments are religiously based. Fine. But in the this country, we have freedom of religion, so why should your fundamentalist, narrow minded, fearful ideas about love predominate in this nation that, thats right, is based on freedom of religion. You have the freedom to marry heterosexually, that is your religious belief, and no one denies if to you. But, lets face it, marriage is a legal contract, pure and simple. It was given religious significance by early societies simple to give it more legitimacy. There is no legal reason, nor any rational reason, why two people of any gender cannot make a lifelong commitment to each other, to live in peace and to strive to make a life together. Why, bojack27 and the rest of you fundamentalist non-thinkers, are you so frightened by that? You won't go to hell for it, will you? So why worry. Leave your human brothers and sisters in peace, and by the way, why don't you try to truly live Jeasus' message, and actually WORK for some peace??

    • Posted By: bojack27 @ 09/08/2008 2:51:46 PM

Cbinpa.... get real!.... A Greater commitment in the form of marriage? I will say this once again... the effects of families... 1 man, 1 woman and their children.... need not be defined by what you call a greater commitment in the form of marriage... it is perversion! I like how you left-wing liberal thinkers always use the narrow minded name in describing someone who doesn't like the behavior of another and yet you will not accept the opinions that are not like yours... geeshhhhhh pot calling the kettle black...

If my way of thinking is predominate in the nation then why are you forcing the laws to change and recognize, accept and promote and abominable practice of sexuallity? Is marriage just a legal contract? So you are saying that there is no emotional bond attached to marriage? And if it is just merely a contract then why do people sue each other for aleniation of effection? .... If we reduce marriage as you suggest then when are an emotionalist society who no longer holds the sacred bond between mother, father, son, and daughter....

As for going to hell for that .... if one continues to hold onto their sin as being good and reject the teachings of Jesus then why would Jesus force them to go to Heaven when they have demonstrated they wouldn' t be comfortable..... people go to hell for their own individual choices...... If you think leaving people in their sin is peaceful then you are far from the kingdom of God and have no idea what the message of Jesus is... and don't let me bring scriptures to this post .... Jesus didn't come here to bring peace
      Matt.10
[34] Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
[35] For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
[36] And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
[37] He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
[38] And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
[39] He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Why don't you realize that taking a stand for Jesus will bring division and not unity .... especially in a world that is bent on doing things that are opposite of what is written in the word of God....

You are one angry idiot. I think you are a bitter angry conspiracy theorist. I know your kind all too well. someone must have screwed you over bad. Perhaps it can be attributed to your sweet disposition. If you could put your claw down and relax for a minute.. You would realize that all people deserve equal rights. REGARDLESS. Obama is not running on a pro-marriage campaign by any means. he feels it is an issue that ought to be left up to the individual state. I am a straight.. but would applaud any candidate that did seek equality. We lose almerican lives in a war... for our freedom and liberty. All americans deserve this.. not just the right wing conservative bible thumping do-gooders. Signed by a proud dem/lib

    • Posted By: bojack27 @ 09/08/2008 12:51:24 PM

I think all Americans deserve the right to marry as well.... and all Americans do have the right to marry...as long as the follow the guidelines of what is marriage.... now when we start re-defining what marriage means and looks like then we have open the door to every pervert out their.... if infidelity is wrong in everyone's eyes then you are discriminating against polygamist, if statutory rape is wrong then you are discriminating against pedophiles, perverts, homosexuals and all who engage in underage sex.... .... so where do we draw the line?

Marriage is only between a man and a woman period .... any other definition is a perversion of a family.... there is only one mom and one dad in a family..... the concept of two dads or two moms is false and perverted

Your no-holds-barr on opening up the defintion of marriage will tear down the foudation of families everywhere.... and this bible thumping do-gooder is against the proud dem /lib .... Here is a thought for you .... no matter what marriage become now or in the future.... if the whole world was in agreement with the perversion of marriage .... they still haven't persuaded God to acknowledge it as been good!...... Selah!

  • Posted By: nahiwi @ 09/07/2008 2:27:38 PM

I firmly believe you should have to prove you have even the slightest bit of knowledge to post on a news site. The postings on this site are absurd. This is one right wing dem/lib (as referred to) military is fighting for equality for all people... regardless of orientation. I am straight.. but will never understand why people care or want to deny someone the right to marry who they love. Take your bible thumping conservative self to a bookstore, read the newspaper and educate yourself on Obama policy. He is not PRO gay marriage.. He wants to leave it up to the discretion of the individual state. He simply recognizes that one group should not be excluded from marriage. He is what america stands for.. It is the diversity that makes this a great nation. Put your claw down!

    • Posted By: observer101 @ 09/07/2008 9:24:50 PM

Ofcourse Obama is pro gay...A ride in a limo anyone? At no point did I refer to the bible...If you are addressing your comment toward me...But just like a dem/lib you are quick to put the bible down arent you...You probably accept the fact that we SHOULDNT say the pledge of allegiance in school, or despise a cross in someones yard...No prayers in school perhaps because it burns your ears...Oh well....Its ppl w/ your mentality that is directing our society down the tubes...

  • Posted By: observer101 @ 09/06/2008 9:05:49 PM

It is wrong to promote this behavior...If gays want to marry then do it, not promote it like it should be a special holiday for all...Watching ANY celeb get married is a joke because sooner or later they will definately divorce and our t.v.s/computers will be over run with the divorce trials and outcomes for weeks...And you are right JSmith, a dem/lib wouldnt vote to fight for ANY cause that requires American lives...They just expect freedoms for free, to ride on the backs of hard working conserative ppl, and vote for hearings on sport steroid usage, and gay marriage as a real important issues that drives America..If Obama wins I cant wait to see what real IMPORTANT issues the Dem run senate/congress come up with...Perhaps fight to let chickens live and not kill the for KFCs delicious fried chicken because Kentucky was once in the souths control, or maybe they will bring about a law that all straight ppl will have to enlist in a special data base in case they say anything negative against gays they will be fined...Maybe they will mandate that Kelloggs will have to have an exact amount of raisins for each box of bran they produce, because a gay person felt they were discriminated against cause they have less raisins than a straight persons box had...They do after all do crazy studies and investigation at the tax payers expense which by a dem politicians standards is limitless. But nonetheless bragging about ANY celebs wedding as a match made in heaven is a joke.

They look beautiful. I'm happy for them. Its so weird that the far Christian right (the same ones who vote for war (aka death) and Republicans - who say government must "get out of the way of people") are so eager to dictate to people what they should and should not do. I say get out of the way of the people - kindness, caring, generosity and forgiveness these are the values that should trump all others.

"Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of heaven,
You can justifiy it in the end."

Why do the Christians feel they need to control the rest of the world with their guilt and fear?

I hope Ellen has just as much happiness as my herto friends have.

I can't stand ellen. I think she is extremely over-rated and I find her talk show to be lame and boring. I don???t understand why she is still on the air. Her fans seem to be the kind-and-trusting types who many of us would deem as ???genuinely good people???. What baffles me is that underneath ellen???s TV persona is a money-hungry, manipulative, angry and duplicitous woman ??? all qualities that I am certain a majority of her fans detest. So be it.
