The real journelest would be qualified to wright , you LIsa Miller can only quote. Seems you just have problems all the way around. Palin's candidacy in no way represents a revival of anything in evangelicalism. This article's headline is somewhat misleading. Evangelicals who have emphasized poverty and human rights as well as life issues have been around for decades. They have been overwhelmed - especially in the media - by those who have wedded "pro-life" issues with a Republican view of free markets and limited government. The Jim Wallises and Ron Siders have been around a long time and have had a following. In the past four years they have gained a higher profile because of increased media attention and the rise of younger Christians whose imagination has been moved by an "emergent church" theology that is more inclusive and well grounded in historical Christian thought and practice. The "religious right" never went away and neither did the "new evangelical" (a phrase coined by Richard Quebedeaux in the '70's). What's needed are accurate descriptions of the outlines of what influential evangelicals are saying and thinking with less enthrallment with trends that are misunderstood and described in a shallow way..

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

That the money the participants elected to put Into the Program would be deductible from Their income for tax purposes each year,
That the money the participants put into the Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would Only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and
That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income. Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and if we get a Social Security check every month we are finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government and now to Dwight Eisenhower

If I recall correctly, it was a democratically Controlled Congress. And From what I understand, the Congress logic at that time was that there was so much money in Social Security Fund that it would never run out / be used up for the purpose it was intended / set aside for. Biden - who is a 35 year senator - who has done very little of substance (I have watched him on CSPAN and is so condescending to so many people and downright abusive. He gets a pass from Newsweek and they don't even mention his talk -talk - talk and do little of nothing. He has not even had visibility in the campaign. I am glad finally that Sarah Palin is a Christian. Of the 2, Sarah is a far better leader.

Wow...it really is sad day for the church when a Christian pastor preaching a prominent Bible teaching grabs headlines. It wasn't a popular message in AD 30 and it still isn't . I think a much more worthy headline would be a candidate that pulls the "church card", but disagrees with the Bible on most moral issues.

I don't care about Jesus or Evangelicals or any of that, except as metaphors for something better than our base instincts. But I am 100% behind Palin, because I want a woman in the White House. There will never be gender equality if we keep electing men, and more men, and keep ignoring the powerful smart women like Palin. I am a feminist, and I am a voter. Since Hillary was ousted, I am voting for Palin in 2008. Call me stupid if you wish, but where is the wisdom in keeping men in power and women in the kitchen.

Hello Ms. Miller, I live in what is considered middle America. We love God, our country and our families. Not all people in the US are latte sipping, single vegans. We believe that life begins at conception, and that all God's children are precious. There have been more babies killed by abortions than Jews killed in the Holocaust. Roosevelt wasn't helpful to escaping Jews whose ship tried to land them in the US. He was wrong not to help the Jews, and has their blood on his hands. We who are pro-life have to make a lot of noise to save those precious babies' lives. We cannot sit on the sidelines and allow murder to happen to innocent lives.

Ms. Miller, I am going to pray that everywhere you go you will see Christ and hear how much He loves you and that you will give your heart to him. Then you will understand where the Christians are coming from and see that you don't have to be afraid of us. We are not the enemy.

Congratulations...you just offended 60 million people! And I'm very sorry to inform you that it is true,.anyone who does not accept Jesus and their personal savior will be condemned to Hell fire. Not because God is a hateful God but because He sent His only Son into the world to save people from the Hell that was created for Satan.
