To ensure the highest caliber of politically astute blogging, what say those who were so dim as to vote for W. twice excuse themselves from further comments? This will free up this site for those who have shown themselves bright enough to make sound political decisions.

Neos, you forget the very first and basic thing: Winner make history, loser go....... I'll leave that to your imagination...

So, no! your request is denied!

Oh SEA, please don't tell me you voted for that incompetent boob TWICE!!!! Well, repent now before all is lost. Say 10 Hail Sarahs and make a donation to the DNC You know I bet you voted for JFK before your soul got all shrivelled up and republicanized. There's still time..

WHAT MAKES YOU WORTHY OF TELLING US WHAT YOU THINK?
The Main Stream Media should be ASHAMED AS HELL OF ITSELF; but, we know, it has NO
SHAME!!! It NOW thinks it should get involved in the vetting of a VP, while it GAVE
A SHAMELESS PASS to OBAMA for the PRESIDENTIAL SLOT.
So you think giving SOFTBALL questions to OBAMA in the debates proves anything. Do
you think not tracking down his associations, record, accomplishments or lack thereof
proves anything? Do you think that attacking a 17 YEAR OLD GIRL of a candidate AND
THE CANDIDATE HERSELF MAKES YOU WORTHY OF TELLING US WHAT YOU THINK?
    =============
TYPICAL conservative rant. This is the tye of less intelligent voter who can only rant and not research. Such perceived bias is enshrined in the culture of the GOP, and even historicians won't agree that the media is as biased as the GOP would like us to think.
    1. The media mayy appear biased in favor of Obama (and Bill Clinton in 1992, just as it does with politicians who are new to the national political scene), but claims that the media is entirely in favor of Obama and asking him "softball" questions during presidential debates is FLAT. Candidates have to be asked and challenged whenever they make ridiculous claims to the contrary. What voters who are ignorant and gullible feel is PERCEIVED BIAS, not actual bias, and they want the candidate of their disdain t be asked the hardest questions, not the candidate they support.
    2. It was not the media that rushed to rport on the pregnancy of Palin's daughter; it was ordinary citizens in teh blogsphere, and the media picked up whatever it felt it has to report on all candidates who appear to have been poorly vetted and who are entirely new to the national political scene. And it is the hypocritical Palin and the McCain campaign who let the Palin kids appear under the eye of the public at the covnention, while at the same time crying foul of media bias and intrusion of privacy. It is the McCain campaign that is trying to have the Palin family used as for political purposes and to entie the media beofre then accusing the media of intruding on the family's private affairs.
you guys have been victimized by the GOP efforts to pit you against the media. After all, this article by Newsweek was meant to inform voters of their choices.

Pitiful how you guys are always perceived yourselves as the "intelligent ones" and look down on those who disagree with you! is this what the Democratic party has dissolved to?

Where are the elite media's in-depth articles like this on all the long-time associates of Obama and the numerous questions surrounding Biden's relatives-not mention past incidents of plagurism by Biden?

  • Posted By: jnsphorn @ 09/09/2008 6:59:22 PM

why are not there in-depth articles like this on Obama's associations and the hijinks of relatives of Biden?

Wally Hickel was not Sarah Palin's "mentor". Clearly they have not called your number in Wasilla. Why is Newsweek so in love with Obama with all his faults and so disrespectful of the Alaska Governor who is titled in this article as a "beauty queen"? shame on you Newsweek.

It proves that the MSM is trying as hard as we have ever seen to CONTROL an election like a Chicago Party Machine, or a government controlled, Banana Repubic press.

The MSM press has been disgraceful and there has been and will continue to be a decline of the MSM into tabloid, celebrity, and sexism journalism.

With some MSM outlets like NBC, MSNBC, CBS, CNN, NYT, CT, WP, Newsweek, Atlantic Weekly, LAT, and others becoming tabloids following DailyKos, MoveOn.org, and HuffingtonPost, the vast majority of normal, middle class, independent/moderate WILL BE SICK OF YOU.

    ANSWER THIS QUESTION:

The Bush family have become billionaires many times over at the tax payers expence, From Neil Bush's $68 billion bailout of Silverado Saving and loan whil dad was VP to GW Bush's failed business's built on SBA loans while dad was President, Nafta is a Bush money maker, Enron, KBR, Haliburton are all Bush connected, the list goes on. But this is typical of the Republilcans I have no doubt McCain will continue the Bush tradition.

People go on about how the tax cuts have benifited America and insist they continue is our salvation, If the tax cuts helped the economy then some one has to tell me how come the economy is in choas and unemployment is at an all time high, Good Lord what does it take??
Brains that must be the answe
let us pray... Please god give these people brains.

President Bush isn't a "billionaire"... In fact, he's light years from being one. From the Washington Post:

      http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/15/AR2006051501638.html

      So another myth is debunked.

What does it take? It takes facts to suede voters, not your unsubstantiated opinions.

"The economy is in chaos and unemployment is at an all time high?" That simply isn't true. You obviously weren't around for the Carter years... 18 to 20% inflation & 12% unemployment. We've had 16 years of economic growth and until a few weeks ago unemployment was at 5% or under. Fuel prices, due to high demand, have raised prices on everything, and cannot be blamed on either party.

And one more time.... George Bush isn't running in this election!

So what? THey've let INTELLIGENT American's have the same opportunities and get RICH themselves too.

I do agree with Democrats, no more Bush for another 4 years!

I want Bush Policies for another 500! Keep America - AMERICA!
Where smart people can get ahead and make their fortunes!

I really don't care about her scandals or lack thereof, my concern is how quickly she abandoned the 4 month special needs child she chose to bring into the world. Will her commitment to her country last as long as her commitment to her children?
As the mother of a special needs child myself, I think accepting this nomination while he is so small is irresponsible and offensive. A good mother would have passed this time around, if she is that good the opportunity would have come around again. With a teen daughter getting drug through the media and a baby that desperately needs to bond with his mother, a responsible would have said "thanks but no thanks" to the nomination.

    • Posted By: SEA Observer @ 09/09/2008 6:01:56 PM

Have you considered that she may have sat her family down around the kitchen, tell them about the pros & cons of the situation, ask for their input.... and her children all go: "mom rock..... go all the way! We will be behind you 100% and screwed these elite media.....

Get off your selfish and narrow minded thinking.... Palin rocks!

And so we can find all factions of today's republican party sitting about the warmth of the old blogsite tonight. The republicans here are comprised of a central libertarian core surrounded and dominated by the unholy trinity of the plutocracy, the extreme 'religious' right, and the good ol' boys.
The libertarian core are the old guard of the GOP. The Goldwater true conservatives. They have seen their principles of small government and fiscal responsibility 'thrown under the bus' by Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush 1, and Bush 2. Every one of these 'failures' grew the government and failed to balance the budget year after year. Today's libertarian core look to Bob Barr for leadership.
The plutocracy are the current controllers of the republican party, the pigs with snouts buried in the trough of Lucre. Turning their backs on their fellow citizens, their chief and primary political agenda is tax cuts and tax evasion loopholes for their class. At this they have been very successful; borrow and spend is the order of the day and the national debt goes soaring ever upwards. To these modern day Scrooges, all who are not wealthy are untermensch, too stupid or lazy to be fit for human consideration. Hey Daytrader!
The 'religious' right, A.K.A. 'Christians Who Hate', are the self-designated arbiters of right and wrong, the self-righteous haters of gays, pro-choicers, homosexuals, freethinkers, people of other religious beliefs, and well, everyone who doesn't meet THEIR interpretations of 'God's' standards. The ultra-rich have no religion but money and the getting more of it, and have zero qualms about exploiting this groups beliefs to the furtherance of that goal. Unholyroller stands as the epitome of a member of this tribe of mean-spirited hypocrites.
The good ol' boys run the gamut from the poor redneck racist to the ol' farts sitting glued to the radio with Rush all day and/or glued to the TV with Faux News all night. The culturally blighted, xenophobic, suspicious types who hate and fear diversity and their fellow man. McCarthyites in the 50's, hippie-haters in the 60s, followers of the Living Rove, the kind that no one wants to visit, they are left railing against the 'socialist' bogeyman, spewing their insult-ridden invective (all too often crude sexual insults) to empty walls or on the unsuspecting peace of a blogsite. Imagining they have some goal in common with Bush in Kennybunkport, these poor dupes are the unwitting foot soldiers doing the bidding of the rich elite and paying all the consequences of their self-betrayal. Oh say can you SEA?

They just announced that Palin will not give interviews to media, that they feel they can take her on the road and that will be enough to get the votes. Hmmmm I am sorry, but how can we have a VP that is not allowed to talk to the media. Granted the media can be stinkers, but their job is to let us know everything they can about our government and its leaders. I think shows that she is not as strong as they say she isl

    • Posted By: chindognyc @ 09/07/2008 11:19:06 AM

Your right. How can we understand her issues and she don't even want to talk to the media. This is why I can't vote for McCain. If she is a heartbeat away from becoming the next President, then she really need to start talking.

      • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 09/09/2008 5:28:01 PM

        Hi Chin,

i believe it to be more than likely that the McCain camp will not permit her to speak with the press. On both CNN & MSNBC republicans have stated, when asked about Palin and the press responded that "They will do what is best for the party" That is the only answer that they will give.

Also why do they not trust her to campaign by herself? I believe that they are afraid of what she might say.

      • Posted By: mccaincursingonyoutube @ 09/07/2008 11:25:12 AM

Conservatives love her and they say she is ready! The campaign is just helping her get up to speed on the issues first, and then she will be allowed to speak to the media. Give her a chance. I think they said she will be ready in 3 weeks.

        • Posted By: asterea @ 09/07/2008 11:45:00 AM

well, as a life long Republican, i want someone that actually knows something about the world for VP
McCain, though I do honor him, and believe he is a good man, is after all old, I am old too, and I know the weakness age brings with it, at his age he could go anytime, even one day into his presidency.
A quick 3 week course on the world affairs doesnt cut it for her prospective position

          • Posted By: mccaincursingonyoutube @ 09/07/2008 12:26:54 PM

Ok. Life long Republican. Tell me why the base is in love with her?

            • Posted By: asterea @ 09/07/2008 12:40:46 PM

Frankly right now I think a lot of people are so relieved to have someone new, not just John McCain that they are a little hysterical. There are a lot of Republicans, while we honor John, are not sure about him being president. Palin looks like a new conservative that will influence him to go with the conservative base. It makes sense, but I think that if she cant face the media , how can she face Putin?

              • Posted By: sjpersonal @ 09/09/2008 5:23:01 PM

Do you really want to elect someone who has to rely on the Cliff notes version of national and world politics? She cannot conduct a single interview now, but will be totally versed in 3 weeks? Good luck with that.

This article sounds like it is addressing a reading audience that are neither "introspective or the intellectual type"...it is clearly biased and tries to play on the fears that someone who is religious is not main stream enough to be our leader. I , for one, am quite capable of making my voting decisions without the "warping effects" of Newsweek magazine.....I'm hoping the rest of America will also look at factual information on both candidates (guess that excludes you) before making their choice.

  • Posted By: Iron Horse @ 09/09/2008 5:18:23 PM

By the way SEA Observer, I am mostly challenging your hypocrisy. If Obama's wife said she was proud for the first time because America is willing to elect a woman or an African American is a threat to America in your eyes, then why are you and your fellow social conservatives turning a blind, self-righteous eye to the fact that palin's husband was a secessionist, which is much worse than a mere "proud of America for the first time" statement that you took ot of context to fit your own twisted, selfish interpretation. You guys are the epitome of America's double standards.
