in an Obama ad last summer describing Obama???s skills working with members of both
parties to get legislation passed.
In Washington, Obama was instrumental in helping to craft the 2007
ethics reform law
that ended gifts and meals from lobbyists, cut off subsidized jet travel for members
of Congress, required lobbyists to disclose contributions they ???bundle??? to candidates,
and put the brakes on other, similar common practices.

As for claims of Obama's $1 billion earmarks, where's the evidence/the factual source? You must also factor inwhether Ill.'s governor pressured Obama for those earmarks, and not Obama requesting the money on his own. I will try hard to find the earmarks Obama requested, but so far I was unsuccessful, leading me to believe the claim against him was politically motivated and not factually based.

She was for the bridge, she supported it fully, and she ran on that issue. Then Congress said 'no way', Alaska and the Bridge to Nowhere became a laughing stock, and only then did she pull her support. It's a matter of record. But she will bold-face lie to us anyway. And if she's lying now, you think she'll stop if she gets even more power, money, and control?

She is a liar, she knows it, and we ignore it at our peril. She makes a mockery of the public's trust and has the nerve to call herself a Christian to boot. These are Christian values? Not for my children they aren't.

These comments are amazing, I am a christian woman and find the the american people have tended to dumb down. I will not say that Sarah has not accomplished a lot because she has. I am tired of our lives being treated like a chess game, " ur muv". I want the best person for the job and what i have seen so far is the republicans countering moves but not given any real concrete evendence on what they want to do. I have seen them flip flop on the there platform throughout this process so far. I am a single working mom and not by choice. Sarah doesn't appeal to me because she doesn't represent me. Yes we are women and mothers but what does she know about metro cities and the problems they face, and what does she know about trying to keep food on the table and lights on provided you saved your home. I am not inpressed by a gun slinging, moose burger eating, rebel bikini wearing mom. That doesn't speak to me. For those women out there that would vote because she is woman, shame on you, because she may look like you and be a mother like you but until she can prove that she is like you that is not good enough. Don't take second when you know that there is a first out there. This looks like the civil war to me this country is so devided that it is hard for me to believe that god has blessed the McCain, Palin ticket. Thumbs down to Newsweek for soft-pedaliing Palin's inclination to ban books from the Wasilla library. It doesn't matter that reading material was never taken off the shelves; the very idea that she even thought about it should be disturbing. What made Palin believe that she should decide what the residents of Wasilla should be able to read.

At the time of this incident, Palin belonged to a church that believes in the literal truth of the Bible and creationism. I can't help but wonder her religious views had something to do with her desire to limit access to certain reading material. I know I don't want someone in the White House whose inclination will be to politicize science like the Bush administration has done.

Why Obama and his Democrats are IDIOTS.

His tax policies at the BEGINNING of a recession will kill this economy. If you feel you won't be affected by his tax you are a total idiot!

Businesses will pass the taxes along to you, the CONSUMER. This will create INFLATION and the Federal Reserve will be forced to raise interest rates to curb it. This means that you will pay for his tax increases through the things you buy AND your house payments will go up due to higher interest rates.

Now when you factor in that higher taxes BRING IN LESS MONEY to government as many companies avoid the taxes through offshore companies because the TAX PLAN ISN'T FAIR, then the whole thing blows up in dummy Obama's face!

Guess what it gets WORSE! With these higher taxes there will be LESS investment and not only fewer jobs but jobs LOST. We saw this with Jimmy Carter, same policies now but with a prettier and younger face on them.

Did you also know there are 13 trillion in offshore accounts just from the rich in the US? Past higher tax policies on the rich caused this. Don't make the same mistakes other dumb A$$ democrats have made, keep that money in the US economy!

You may not like Mc Cain but your job, your future and your children's future DEPENDS on him getting elected.

Sarah Palin thinks she is a better American than you because she comes from a small town and a superior human being because she isn't a journalist and has never lived in Washington and likes to watch her kids play hockey. Although Palin praised John McCain in her acceptance speech as a man who puts the good of his country ahead of partisan politics, McCain pretty much proved the opposite with his selection of a running mate whose main asset is her ability to reignite the culture wars. So maybe Governor Palin does represent everything that is good and fine about America, as she herself maintains. But spare us, please, any talk about how she is a tough fiscal conservative.

Palin has continued to repeat the already exposed lie that she said "No, thanks" to the famous "bridge to nowhere" (McCain's favorite example of wasteful federal spending). In fact, she said "Yes, please" until the project became a symbol and political albatross.

Back to reality. Of the 50 states, Alaska ranks No. 1 in taxes per resident and No. 1 in spending per resident. Its tax burden per resident is 2 1/2 times the national average; its spending, more than double. The trick is that Alaska's government spends money on its own citizens and taxes the rest of us to pay for it. Although Palin, like McCain, talks about liberating ourselves from dependence on foreign oil, there is no evidence that being dependent on Alaskan oil would be any more pleasant to the pocketbook.

Alaska is, in essence, an adjunct member of OPEC. It has four different taxes on oil, which produce more than 89% of the state's unrestricted revenue. On average, three-quarters of the value of a barrel of oil is taken by the state government before that oil is permitted to leave the state. Alaska residents each get a yearly check for about $2,000 from oil revenues, plus an additional $1,200 pushed through by Palin last year to take advantage of rising oil prices. Any sympathy the governor of Alaska expresses for folks in the lower 48 who are suffering from high gas prices or can't afford to heat their homes is strictly crocodile tears.

As if it couldn't support itself, Alaska also ranks No. 1, year after year, in money it sucks in from Washington. In 2005 (the most recent figures), according to the Tax Foundation, Alaska ranked 18th in federal taxes paid per resident ($5,434) but first in federal spending received per resident ($13,950). Its ratio of federal spending received to federal taxes paid ranks third among the 50 states, and in the absolute amount it receives from Washington over and above the amount it sends to Washington, Alaska ranks No. 1.
