well at least Sarah has a church that doesn't teach the followers that white America is racist. She may look to God to guide her and that's ok with me - unlike O jr who looks at Wright to guide him. In the end the more that everyone keeps trying to make Sarah the number one on the ticket against O jr the better for the Rep. She has more class in her pinky than O jr does in his whole body. Lets not even go on the grounded, patriotic, experience issues. It's laughable. Sarah told O jr and Biden and they went nuts. This is so funny - please when Sarah's husband got a DWI O jr was snorting coke to be cool. When Sarah had her first Child she knew what she valued in her life - O jr is still searching for it. Yep people - I hurd the bombs dropping on the O jr camp when McCain said his VP. It just goes to show you McCain's millitary experience in that hit attack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Palin is pro-life, even in the case of rape, and opposes same-sex marriage and favors the discussion of creationism alongside evolution in schools. But she hasn't pushed for legislative changes in any of those areas.

The Associated Press reported Sept 3: "Palin's children attend public schools and Palin has made no push to have creationism taught in them. ... It reflects a hands-off attitude toward mixing government and religion by most Alaskans."

She even vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships because she said it was unconstitutional.

That says plenty. It shows she knows the limits of government, and believes that government isn't there to tell us what to do.

Obama seems more inclined to use government to control what choices we have than Palin does.

* As governor, Palin is commander of her states National Guard. Not content to merely sit on the title, she traveled to Kuwait to learn about her troops mission there. On the return trip to Alaska, she stopped in Germany to visit wounded soldiers in the hospital, an activity that Barack Obama did not see fit to engage in during his own overseas venture, blaming the Pentagon for his snubbing of the wounded.

* More accomplishments: Gov. Palin signed a RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO THE FAAS PLAN TO INCREASE TAXES ON AVIATION FUEL, IMPOSE USER FEES AND SLASH AIRPORT FUNDING.

* Also, before Palin became governor, her predecessor Frank Murkowski had purchased a Westwind Two business jet for the governors use at a $2.5 million price tag, despite the objections from the state legislature and the public. Her first order of business after taking office was to PUT THE JET UP FOR SALE. Palin did keep the governors state-owned Chevy Suburban, but she got RID OF THE DRIVER, saying it was WASTEFUL for the state to pay someone to drive her around, since she was perfectly capable of driving herself. The governors gourmet chef also got changed from a full-time to a seasonal-only basis because Palin considered it a luxury SHE DID NOT THINK ALASKANS SHOULD BE PAYING for. Her political enemies called all this superficial pandering.

* Alaska is the only one of Americas states which borders on two foreign countries. Sarah Palin is CHIEF EXECUTIVE of our most important ENERGY STATE, one which lies only a few miles from Russian territory. She has negotiated sensitive agreements on fishing rights and other matters to keep the peace up there. She has also worked on important trade deals with other countries. She has received foreign heads of state and had discussions with them.

There are many benefits to having Governor Sarah Palin on the GOP presidential ticket, and many of them have been already been discussed extensively by both new media and old in the few short days since John McCain introduced her to the GOP in Ohio. They all rest on a rock-solid base of achievement. SHE IS ONE VERY ACCOMPLISHED VICE PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE.

There simply can be no doubt that the Republicans are blatantly and self-servingly dishonest, simply put, just full of the BS. They are not the party they were sixteen and more years ago when they advocated small government, financial responsibility, to only do for the people what they couldn???t do for themselves and striving to be honest (the conservative values). They still use the word ???conservative??? but today it is just a word they use for emotional attachment and to hide behind, they only give lip service to the values it represents. The last eight years fully substantiates all of that as they pursue their private agenda and continually lie to misrepresent, manipulate, camouflage, rationalize and excuse their actions. And now, they offer us a 72 year old candidate who is deteriorating and who out of desperation and irresponsibility chose a running mate who is aggressively bazaar, who is extreme in everything, who lies repeatedly without conscience, whose touch with reality is questionable and who is inexperienced in diplomacy, foreign policy, national interests and more. Can you imagine Sarah Palin as president? Even as Vice President she would be an embarrassment. Behind all of the lies, all they offer is more of the same Bush-Cheney placating of Special Interests and the only real change they can provide is downright scary!
One more point. There are several people who make comments here, who can easily be identified by their persistence, their dishonesty, their strong bias and their extreme statements, who simply have connection, being volunteer/staff, with the Republicans and are assigned to do what they are doing. The garbage they persistently put out and refer people to should further identify them and should be understood as attempts to mislead and manipulate. Just because things are offered on the internet doesn???t make them true; we need to be careful what and who we trust and to be logical, rational and objective ourselves. It is important to get it right this time!

Koch backs Obama, calls Palin 'SCARY'

Former New York Mayor Ed Koch, who endorsed and worked for George W. Bush in 2004, is endorsing Obama today, NY1 first reported.

I asked Koch just now what prompted the move.

"The designation of Palin to be vice president," he said. "She's scary."

He said he was alarmed by the report that she'd triggered a conflict with the local librarian in Wasilla, Alaska by inquiring about the possibility of banning books.

"Any time someone goes to the library and says, 'I want to ban books,' and the librarian says 'no,' and she threatens to fire them -- that's scary," he said.

(Palin at the time said she was just inquiring about the library's policy on banning books, with no aim of actually banning any. "It was a rhetorical quesiton -- nothing more," the McCain-Palin campaign said in a memo yesterday. And no books were banned, the town says.)

In an endorsement statement, Koch wrote that "the issue for me is who will best protect and defend America" and that both parties were strong on terrorism.

I have concluded that the country is safer in the hands of Barack Obama, leader of the Democratic Party and protector of the philosophy of that party. Protecting and defending the U.S. means more than defending us from foreign attacks. It includes defending the public with respect to their civil rights, civil liberties and other needs, e.g., national health insurance, the right of abortion, the continuation of Social Security, gay rights, other rights of privacy, fair progressive taxation and a host of other needs and rights.

Koch Backs Obama, calls Palin 'scary'

If the vice president were ever called on to lead the country, there is no question in my mind that the experience and demonstrated judgment of Joe Biden is superior to that of Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin is a plucky, exciting candidate, but when her record is examined, she fails miserably with respect to her views on the domestic issues that are so important to the people of the U.S., and to me. Frankly, it would scare me if she were to succeed John McCain in the presidency.

Koch said he'd visited six states for Bush in 2004, primarily Florida, but also several others. ("Why they sent me to Iowa, I don't know.") He said he'd be happy to campaign for Obama "if they ask me to."

Koch is a member of a set of secular, swing-voting Jewish Democrats who may have been pushed away by the selection of Palin, and his endorsement may be a marker of an opportunity for Obama to strengthen his campaign among older Jewish voters in Florida.

The founder of the Alaska Independence Party -- a group that has been courted over the years by Sarah Palin, and one her husband was a member of for roughly seven years -- once professed his "hatred for the American government" and cursed the American flag as a "Damn Flag."

The AIP founder, Joe Vogler, made the comments in 1991, in an interview that's now housed at the Oral History Program in the Rasmuson Library at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government," Vogler said in the interview, in which he talked extensively about his desire for Alaskan secession, the key goal of the AIP.

"And I won't be buried under their damn flag," Vogler continued in the interview, which also touched on his disappointment with the American judicial system. "I'll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home."

Pretty strong language -- rather "inflammatory" I would call it.

So, why did Sarah and Todd Palin, at the beginning of her political career, decide to have these associations and why did he become a member for seven years?

Palin has courted the group over the years.

Three years after the controversial interview, in 1994, Palin attended the group's annual convention, according to witnesses who spoke to ABC News' Jake Tapper. The McCain campaign is disputing her presence there, but Tapper found two people to attest to it.
