Palin shares that sense of exceptionalism. But the myth is contradicted by some inconvenient facts.

Only 1 percent of the state's land is in private hands, and the economy is dependent on oil and other natural resources controlled by the federal government or Big Oil.

As a result, nearly 50 years after statehood, Alaska remains Deeply Dependent on the Federal Government for Support. Social Ills Are ...RAMPANT !!!

The State's levels of Drug ABUSE, ALACIHOLISM, Domestic VIOLENCE and Child ABUSE are ABOVE AVERAGE OR AMONG THE HIGHEST IN THE COUNTRY !!!

When the GOP held its Alaska caucus on Feb. 5, Palin didn't bother to endorse a candidate, despite personal appeals from Huckabee and Mitt Romney, her fellow social conservatives. She had never met or spoken to John McCain.

But she indignantly dismissed his opposition to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as the politically correct???yet wrong???position of "Eastern politicians." Palin finally got the chance to meet McCain at a gathering of Republican governors in Washington, D.C., in mid-February. Weeks later, even after the other Republican contenders had dropped out of the race, Palin still had not endorsed McCain

The Rendell call, organized to preempt a McCain appearance in Pennsylvania, was ostensibly on the topic of how the Arizona Republican has engaged in dirty politics when it came to discussing Obama's tax record. And on this issue, Rendell was again in vintage outspoken form.

"First of all, let me say it should be embarrassing for the Republican ticket that Rick Davis, Sen. McCain's campaign manager, said 'this election is NOT ABOUT ISSUES'

Good Lord, with all the challenges facing America it has to be about Issues...

They don't want to talk about issues because when the TRUTH COMES OUT ABOUT THE ISSUES the American people will favor Sen. Obama tremendously."

The Republicans, he added, "would make the All time All-Star Team for Spiders the way they can SPIN."

But most questions, as has been the case since the Palin announcement, were focused on the Alaska Governor.

Would she siphon of Clinton supporters in Pennsylvania ? NO, said Rendell, who expected Obama to receive somewhere along the lines of "95,96, or 97 percent of the vote."

Was she Qualified to Serve as VP ? Absolutely NOT, he bemoaned.

The McCain camp argues that, "Governor Palin, because of her Executive Experience as a Mayor of a (Small 9,000 Person Town and Governor of Alaska for 20 months), has that Experience.

Well, I refer you to a McCain camp document they put out when [Virginia] Gov. Kaine was considered to be vice president. They attacked his Experience and Derided Richmond [where Kaine was Formerly Mayor] because it was the 105th Largest City ...

BIG NOTE: I think Gov. Palin was mayor of the 50,000th [Most Populated] City in the America... It was Fair Game to say Gov. Kaine was not Qualified because of his Credentials. If they are going to be CONSISTENT then they believe that Gov. Palin is Unqualified to be Vice President."

Anybody watch Obama on O'Reilly last night? Obama talked from both side of his mouth about taxes! He would not just give a straight answer to anything...(the media coined this behavior as "thoughtful" & "intelligent"!!!) I am wondering what his answer would be if someone ask him "Are you a man? or a woman?" Hmm....

How does it feel Republicans to know that the world knows that the Religious Fundamentalist have shoved their hands so far up your butts they have ripped your brains out and sent your party on the road to ruin. Don't let them do it Stand Up to them fanatics who are gutting your party. You will soon be called the Fundamentalist Party with no resemblance to a once proud and healthy party. It is truly a shame as your party is being victimized by the desease of a sickening and decaying mind set as the world watches you fade away. With America losing in almost every aspect under the strong arm of the Fundamentalist you only want to win an election a mere battle no matter what and no clue with what you really need to win and you promote and your new messiahs promise more of the same.

This new "mega church" conservative Christian movement is undermining what this country is all about ... separation of church and state. They put Bush in the White House and are actively supporting this war as God's Will (Palin sure supports that idea!). Regular Americans need to wake up. Take a look at the documentary movie by an ex Catholic Priest called "Constantine's Sword" which shows what they are doing...how they are infiltrating the military with their fanatical religious fever for war by trying to convert everyone to their faith and world view. Please wake up if you really believe in what Jesus taught. It wasn't what these people are selling during their entertaining musical Sunday events.

The USA Today-Gallup Poll released Sunday shows he had eclipsed Obama, by four percentage points, 50 to 46. That suggests at the very least that McCain has wiped out the seven-point lead Obama posted after the Democratic convention a week earlier.

Palin "Bridge to Nowhere" line ANGERS MANY ALASKANS!!!

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - It garnered big applause in her first speech as Republican John McCain's vice presidential pick, but Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's assertion that she rejected Congressional funds for the so-called "bridge to nowhere" has upset many Alaskans.

During her first speech after being named as McCain's surprise pick as a running mate, Palin said she had told Congress "'thanks but no thanks' on that bridge to nowhere."

In the city Ketchikan, the planned site of the so-called "Bridge to Nowhere," political leaders of both parties said the claim was false and a betrayal of their community, because she had supported the bridge and the earmark for it secured by Alaska's Congressional delegation during her run for governor.

The bridge, a span from the city to Gravina Island, home to only a few dozen people, secured a $223 million earmark in 2005. The pricey designation raised a furor and critics, including McCain, used the bridge as an example of wasteful federal spending on politicians' pet projects.

When she was running for governor in 2006, Palin said she was insulted by the term "bridge to nowhere," according to Ketchikan Mayor Bob Weinstein, a Democrat, and Mike Elerding, a Republican who was Palin's campaign coordinator in the southeast Alaska city.

"People are learning that she pandered to us by saying, I'm for this' ... and then when she found it was politically advantageous for her nationally, abruptly she starts using the very term that she said was insulting," Weinstein said.

Palin's spokeswoman in Alaska was not immediately available to comment.

National fury over the bridge caused Congress to remove the earmark designation, but Alaska was still granted an equivalent amount of transportation money to be used at its own discretion.

Hey Everyone - we could argue all day long about the tabloid stories and who's being picked on in the media and who's not - but utimately - this election is going to come down to the economy and asking yourselves if you are better off now than you were 8 years ago. And now that Sarah Palin has made it clear she intends to behave like a pit-bull with rabies combined with a mad-as-hell bucking bull (with listick), she's basically promising to play her part in 4 more years of partisan gridlock and fully supports Bush's policies 100% as does McCain. It's a real siimple choice and James Carville (who I don't always agree with) definately summed it up nicely:

"By every economic measure known to man, Democratic Presidents have out-performed Republican Presidents. And by the way if you believe the economy was better under George W Bush than Bill Clinton you???ve got a real clear choice here.

"If you think what America needs is a tax cut for people making over half-a-million dollars a year then vote for McCain. If you think middle-class people are struggling ??? that their incomes are going down and they need help ??? vote for Obama. It???s a very simple choice".

Campaign gambled by bypassing public funds and is now missing targets

After months of record-breaking fund-raising, a new sense of urgency in Senator Barack Obama???s fund-raising team is palpable as the full weight of the campaign???s decision to bypass public financing for the general election is suddenly upon it.

Pushing a fund-raiser later this month, a finance staff member sent a sharply worded note last week to Illinois members of its national finance committee, calling their recent efforts ???extremely anemic.???

At a convention-week meeting in Denver of the campaign???s top fund-raisers, buttons with the image of a money tree were distributed to those who had already contributed the maximum $2,300 to the general election, a subtle reminder to those who had failed to ante up.

Whose sorry now, Obama didn???t take matching federal funds and his peeps who committed money are not paying up what a stupid decision on his part, derrrr. At the end of Aug he had 13 million in the bank-McCain had 100 million in the bank. Obama didn???t take federal matching funds so he didn???t have to play campaign finance reform rules well the bone head is almost broke. Now that???s the kind of decision making we need in Washington NOT!
