These postings are some much fun to read.

Angry liberals scared of a hockey mom with a gun. You guys are scared and angry. Your anger is why America will once again reject the liberal hate and fear approach. America loves and happy, fun Governor with a nice family and good cheer. This is a great country that allows even angry liberals to vent.

Comment: Just what we need, another "religious nut" in the Administration of our Government, to really screw everything up. No change, no help for the nation's poorest, nothing much for the middle class -- just more shameless pandering the rednecks, the under-educated and the utterly MEDIOCRE of this nation.

I object. I attended a great undergrad institution, worked hard at a fulltime job in the chemical industry while going to school at night for fiver years to finally get my MBA. I work in the oil business now and I know a helluva lot more than does Sarah Palin about the energy business.

I don't understand why the country keeps voting for these sheer and total LOSERS to be our leaders.

Why aren't we concerned that Sarah Palin's nomination, whatever you think about her personally (and I don't mean to deman her) has totally lowered the standards for anyone to become president. I don't see that as a "good" thing.

I see it as a national security threat.

There is a reason why we try to run candidates with strong educations, a strong background in legislative or governing experience, and a combination of extra savvy - maybe industry, education, healthcare or energy savvy - and I don't mean just a smattering from her husband, a non-degree, non-engineer worker in the oilfield for BP. And maybe a handful of energy buddies who are pleased she was able to take their profits and generously hand them out to Alaskan citizens - that was certain GREAT PR for the oil business there.

Well, I hope this bounce in the polls is only because the GOP convention came AFTER the Democratic one - surely had the timing been reversed, the same would have happened to the Dem nominees.

I am just sick about Ms. Palin - no offense meant to her peronally - because McCain chose her over every other potential running mate. I'm glad the GOP got a bounce - but I pray it won't last.

I could not stand to live in the USA controlled by an aging senior and a bible-thumpin' self-styled business guru who couldn't even get her undergrad degree together until she attended at least six different institutions.

There must be other people in the USA who could run with McCain who actually have better experience, education and more centrist views on religion? Please. I can't believe this is MY America. It looks more and more like the extreme conservatives in "La Cage aux Folles" which was meant to be a parody - now it's becoming a reality.

Founder of the AIP Damns America and It's Flag:

Alaskan Independence Party, Alaska Secessionist Party,

The 3rd most Powerful Political Party in Alaska and Todd Palin was a (7 year Registered Member) and Todd is constantly in the Governor's office and involved in her Affairs, such as the "Trooper Gate" Scandal, that is to Precede, though Mccain's Cronies tried to Stop the Process. Mccain is Incompetent, this Woman was not Vetted at all !!!

The founder of the Alaska Independence Party -- a group that has been courted over the years by Sarah Palin, and one her husband was a member of for roughly seven years -- once professed his "hatred for the American government" and cursed the American flag as a "damn flag."

The AIP founder, Joe Vogler, made the comments in 1991, in an interview that's now housed at the Oral History Program in the Rasmuson Library at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.

"The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government," Vogler said in the interview, in which he talked extensively about his desire for Alaskan secession, the key goal of the AIP.

???They call themselves mavericks. Whoa! Truth is???they???re anything but. John McCain is hardly a maverick, when seven of his top campaign advisors are Washington lobbyists. He???s no maverick when he votes with Bush 90 percent of the time.

???And Sarah Palin???s no maverick, either. She was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it. Politicians lying about their records? You don???t call that maverick. You call it more of the same.???

The McCain campaign claimed in an ad released Monday morning: ???The original mavericks. He fights pork barrel spending. She stopped the Bridge to Nowhere.???

An Associated Press fact check found that exaggerated: ???She vowed to defend Southeast Alaska ???when proposals are on the table like the bridge and not allow the spin-meisters to turn this project or any other into something that's so negative??? ??? something that McCain was busy doing at the time, as a fierce critic of the bridge.???

TO BE A CHRISTIAN MEANS TO CHEAT ON YOUR WIFE AND DIVORCE HER AND REMARRY ANOTHER ONE. BY THE WAY THIS IS ALDULTERRY. THE BIBLE IS AGAINST THAT BY ANY MEANS

TO BE A CHRISTIAN MEANS TO LIE ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE SO THAT YOU CAN INTO POWER

TO BE A CHRISTIAN MEANS TO BE AN HYPOCRITE

TO BE A CHRISTIAN MEANS TO THINK THAT YOU ARE BETTER THAN SOMEONE ELSE

TO BE A CHRISTIAN MEANS TO IMPOSE YOUR WILL ON OTHER PEOPLE. THIS IS A DICTATOR

TO BE A CHRISTIAN MEANS TO BE PART OF A MISLEADING MACHINE TO KEEP A COUNTRY IN HOSTAGE

Of course you're wrong about all of this. None of it "means" anything to me or any Christian I know.

But, you're free to see it as you want. Are you voting for Obama? You do know he claims to be Christian....

Palin show's just how inexperienced she really is:
Economists and analysts pounced on the misstatement, which came before the government had spent funds bailing the two entities out, saying it demonstrated a lack of understanding about one of the key economic issues likely to face the next administration.

"You would like to think that someone who is going to be vice president and conceivable president would know what Fannie and Freddie do," said Dean Baker, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research. "These are huge institutions and they are absolutely central to our country's mortgage debt. To not have a clue what they do doesn't speak well for her, I'd say."

Kbooger yea what ever I think there is a lot easier way of getting out of a job than that nice try. The bridge to nowhere was to an Island that had cabins of folks that came up every so often and didn???t live in Alaska full time. Governor Palin changed her mind when she realized the waste in spending money on that.

Earmarks some are needed, when Gov palin got into office earmarks were at 1 billion, she brought it down to 550 million, now this year it is 198 million. That money goes towards all kinds of things for a state.

Obama since he has not been in an executive position acts like you can???t have any earmarks, so he obviously doesn???t know what he is doing. He has never had to balance a budget, make executive decisions, yet he wants to be the top executive. McCain has life experience and far more experience in the senate than obama does he is a better candidate and will really change things. Obama he will just want to be present and not rock the boat

Gov Palin did not cancel the "bridge to nowhere" project because she realized it was wasteful, but rather because the earmark could not pay for the complete project. Here is a quote from her on the project. "Ketchikan desires a better way to reach the airport, but the $398 million bridge is not the answer. Despite the work of our congressional delegation, we are about $329 million short of full funding for the bridge project, and it???s clear that Congress has little interest in spending any more money on a bridge between Ketchikan and Gravina Island. Much of the public???s attitude toward Alaska bridges is based on inaccurate portrayals of the projects here. But we need to focus on what we can do, rather than fight over what has happened"

      • Posted By: raddave @ 09/08/2008 6:19:45 PM

Also, it is not Obama criticizing earmarks, it is John S. McCain who is vowing to veto all earmark requests, but he picks a running mate who has requested more earmarks per capita for her state than any other. John McCain, since he has never been a executive has as much executive experience as Obama has.

Palin is no Goddess for America. She may be the Goddess of social cosnervatives. We don't fear this knucklehead who thinks the war in Iraq is God's task just as Hitler argued that God wanted him to kill all the innocent Jews. Palin does not live in the real world but in her own fantasyworld. If she tries to declare war on others as president because they don't want to be cowed into accepting her beliefs, then we'll have our Congress to go after her ass and bring her to a max security prison.
I have no hateful feeling toward Palin; after all, she is an American even if her dumb husband was a separatist. Cosnervative Republicans love her because she said the war in Iraq was a task from God and said other hypocritical, stupid things that make conservatives grin.
I am so tired of this country when it is taken hostage by the Republicans who care nothing about its security (they play national security just to scare up votes) and its ailing economy (it was a Bush Republican aide who called us a "nation of winers")... What the GOP cares is POWER, POWER, POWER, MONEY, MONEY, GOD, GOD, F--ING MORAL VALUES....

    Floridave. Here's the thing.
The conservative ideas of today were the liberal ideas of yesteryear. The conservatives were the Tories, the Pro-slavery crowd, The anti-suffragettes, and so on. The liberals shine a light on progress and truth and the conservatives dig in their heels and bray. Universal health care for all our citizens, good environmental stewardship of our planet, religious and cultural tolerance, a even playing field for more democratic economic opportunity - these ideas and others are what liberals fight for today and conservatives will accept in a distant tomorrow. Progress is inevitable. If you stick to a curved stick when your neighbors move on to the moldboard plow, you will be left behind. Don't get me wrong - you conservatives do have an important function, i.e. to slow progress down sufficiently to allow for a more gradual painless progress. You are the brakes. But too much braking and tea gets thrown into the bay or civil wars happen. You are the boat anchors, be careful you don't tip the boat. If McCain gets elected, the seismic shift will just be that much greater when it does happen.
Sorry that you have to be play the negative, mean-spirited, narrow-minded role. Just play your role well and remember that you are appreciated.

i will not touch the slavery issue, but a lot of a what you said is true.not all conservatives are narrow minded, intolerant bigots.after watching the sarah palin speech, one thing i decided was never again to use the word conservative or evangelical christian to describe myself.why? she came across very sarcastic and condesending.,here is another problem i have ,how can people follow sean hannity ,rush limbaugh, etc like mindless drones?not to mention the hipocritical remarks of dr james dobson.are'nt there more important issue in this world?lets take a look at one simple issue,an insurance company will supply viagra for a man while denying a woman birth control pill, yet they will pay for the delivery of a baby which cost thousands more.is'nt there something wrong with this picture?lets take a peep behind the gay and lesbian issue, they critisize and ostrisize these people while ignoring some truths.how about young men and women who were molested by family members, uncles, fathers, stepfathers, cousins and family friends who sometimes are church members, when they were as young as three? these kids grow up confused, angry fustrated .can you bury your head in the sand like an ostritch?

The B!tch is Major Fraud an she will... QUIT !!!

This Woman was not Properly Vetted at All !!!

"I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere," she said in her convention speech last week.

That's not what she told Alaskans when she announced a year ago that she was ordering state transportation officials to ditch the project. Her explanation then was that it would be fruitless to try to persuade Congress to come up with the money.

"It's clear that Congress has little interest in spending any more money on a bridge between Ketchikan and Gravina Island," Palin said then.

Palin indicated during her 2006 campaign for governor that she supported the bridge, but was wishy-washy about it. She told local officials that money appropriated for the bridge "should remain available for a link, an access process as we continue to evaluate the scope and just how best to just get this done."

She vowed to defend Southeast Alaska "when proposals are on the table like the bridge and not allow the spinmeisters to turn this project or any other into something that's so negative" ??? something that McCain was busy doing at the time, as a fierce critic of the bridge.

Even so, she called the bridge design "grandiose" during her campaign and said something more modest might be appropriate.

Palin's reputation for standing up to entrenched interests in Alaska is genuine. Her self-description as a leader who "championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress" is harder to square with the facts.

The governor has cut back on pork-barrel project requests, but in her two years in office, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. And as mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million.

  • Posted By: Yes! We ALL Can @ 09/08/2008 7:27:34 PM

Sarah Palin should be exposed for the inexperienced governor that she truly is:

Speaking before voters in Colorado Springs, the Republican vice presidential nominee claimed that lending giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." The companies, as McClatchy reported, "aren't taxpayer funded but operate as private companies. The takeover may result in a taxpayer bailout during reorganization."

Think about it you have Obama who the presss has dogged and who has been made to explain himself to the the nation for the last 19 months. And there have been some outlets such as Faux news that would have dug up his mother and asked her questions if it was possible. In contrast you have Sara new on the scene who is surrounded by a cone of silence and the mainstream press is dead Silent.

Man America is just freaking amazing!

SARAH PALIN IS A TROJAN MOOSE!! Watch out America for the surprises that will pop out of this "horses" mouth!
THE FACTS: Palin did abandon plans to build the nearly $400 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport. But she made her decision after the project had become an embarrassment to the state, after federal dollars for the project were pulled back and diverted to other uses in Alaska, and after she had appeared to support the bridge during her campaign for governor.

McCain and Palin together have told a broader story about the bridge that is misleading. She is portrayed as a crusader for the thrifty use of tax dollars who turned down an offer from Washington to build an expensive bridge of little value to the state.

"I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere," she said in her convention speech last week.

That's not what she told Alaskans when she announced a year ago that she was ordering state transportation officials to ditch the project. Her explanation then was that it would be fruitless to try to persuade Congress to come up with the money

Hollyroller - I really wish you would get your facts straight and use your own brain instead of listening to what the media and the republican party tells you to believe! Obama did this for 3 years right out of college and then went on to pass ethics and reform laws in the State of Chicago and as a Senator for years? McCain has always been a senator - what executive experience has he had? That's what I thought - NONE!!

And as for Palin - she is inexcusably inexerperienced and underqualified to be VP right now!!

We are open minded. So open minded that we do use our brains and think for ourselves! We don't let one policitical party tell us a bunch of lies, make things up and then try to sell them as truth!! Talk about character!!

"The McCain camp has tried to again obscure the facts about Gov. Palin. 'She is a reformer and against earmarks.' No she isn't, when she was mayor of that town she hired a lobbyist to get earmarks... 'She was against the bridge to nowhere.' No she wasn't. She was for the bridge to nowhere first... She is a budget balancer. But she left the town in greater debt then when she became mayor, so she is not a budget balancer."

"She is a good person, she has tremendous potential but in no way shape or form is she ready to be president of the United States."

"She claims to be a reformer. " "And yet she is being investigated on the charge that she used her power as governor to fire someone who was going through a messy divorce with a relative of hers. Could you imagine if anyone else was doing the same thing in Pennsylvania or any other state? They would be calling for that govenor's impeachment." Imagine if Barack was in the situation - WHOA!! would the media and everyone come down on him.

What a hit piece. Well it is clear where Newsweek stands. Did this actually take a dozen of you guys to create? Newsweek has given the Governor in one article every little dig that could be thrown at her and she and her team can use these attacks as a road map to prepare for what is coming her way from the other liberals who hate her. Watch out. She knows rotten meat as well as anyone and someone as talented as the Governor will chew you up and spit out your foul taste as she has many times before. You guys have a tiger by the tail and I can't wait to watch the show. Face it, America loves this woman despite the best efforts from the posse of the dozen reporters you used to create this hit job. God Bless America and Governor Palin.
