    So, the president who was messing around in the White House without hurting anyone but socially conservative and intolerant folks was the worst than a president who lied the whole nation all the way to war to topple someone at odds with his ideology and out of oil thirst at the cost of thousands of innocent lives than Saddam had killed? (Sure, Saddam was an evil man, but idealing with him is best left to the UN/world community than an arrogant Bush intent on regime change)

In connection with this situation, I'd be grateful if you would wear some kind of identifying hat or clothing so that if I see you anywhere, I can run like hell so that when lightning strikes you, I will be far enough away to avoid the shock.           I am trying to think why you keep calling him Hussein? Are you trying to use the same scare tactics of the Bush/Cheney administration? What do mean by "his people" as if he has control of protestors just as the Repubs have control of theirs. I suppose you must condone a presidential candidate that openly and unregretably jokes about bombing Iran. I suppose you condone another war and more violence? Many argue that McCain will be the same as Bush. I disagree, I think he will potentially be worse than Bush, which may be supported by his voting record, temperment, and stance on world affairs. If you want the economy to sink further (I don't think we have hit bottom yet), and potentially more unnecessary wars then by all mean vote McCain/Palin.

    I just woke up from a horrible nightmare. In it, McCain went to Alaska, and while he was shopping in a Family Dollar Store he found this trash-mouth Tina Fey look-alike clerk with a Mormon-polygamist-wife hairdo and he asked her to be his Vice Presidential running mate. She held insanely scary rightwing views, yet the American people actually LIKED her and ignored her freaky views because they were evidently hell-bent on having a trash-mouth Tina Fey look-alike clerk with a Mormon-polygamist-wife hairdo negotiating with Putin and dealing with global warming. Can you even IMAGINE a worse nightmare??

    This is such an odd phenomenon to me where we are thinking of candidates as better people or even better qualified because their kids are serving in the military or Iraq. It's so irrelevant. Just part of the whole "I'm more patriotic than you are" nonsense. It's like we have the sophistication of a 3rd grader - "U.S.A.! U.S.A.!" and "Drill Baby Drill!" No wonder politicians talk down to us. We'll vote for someone because they were on the PTA and hunt moose successfully with a gun.       lisaooo - The chants of USA! USA! at the McCain events are to drown out the protesters (this is true for both the RNC event and his campaign events). There have been many CODE PINK ladies and also, veterans that are protesting John's lack of concern for the return veterans. For the record - he did not for the GI Bill of Rights - he was to busy in Arizona raising funds to be in Washington D.C. - Barack on the hand was and did vote for the Webb bill.

      BTW - there were over 800 people arrested in St. Paul for the four days - over 300 the last day/

    Does it take the present messing around with a woman a year and thousands of lives beforehe finishes doing wt he is doing? And what national security was presented to him? You mean America was under threat every second that a president cannot rest, cannot eat, cannot sleep... yet it is okay for a president (Bush) to disregard intelligence reports, read books to children while terrorists busily butcher lives and destroy property in NYC?? It seems to me that someone committing a petty act of stupidity like "messing around in the White House" with that woman is much more of a deal than someone who caes less as lvies get lost in Iraq in a war he started by lying the nation all the way into it. And if Bush said that human life is sacred, he'd be a total hypocrite.

      60% of the news media is owned by a demographic that represents less than 2% of the American population. This red-and-blue hoopla is just part of a big game meant to keep you distracted, fighting, and bent over the barrel while certain others go about business as usual. Incidentally they're the same ones who run the Federal Reserve and print all the money, they are the architects of the Iraq war, they run the World Bank, the IMF, the WTO, and they occupy positions in our government FAR disproportional to their percent of the population for it to be a random occurrence. We're just FOOLING ourselves if we think Obama is going to even point a finger at THIS, because like EVERY president since JFK he's made all the obligatory noises, made the right promises and kissed all the right hands.         Biden failed one time to acknowledge authorship of words used in a speech. Several other times using the same speech he had properly given credit and forgot to do so once. Because he had previously acknowledged using someone elses words, he was not plagurizing, just forgot to once. We all forget things at one time or another but that doesn't mean we are all bad people for it. Give me a break!!! If that is the best you can come up with, you guys are hurting!!!!!

    I tried to be as even handed in my postings as possible, but I was forced to defend my arguments when I keep getting blatantly ignorant comments. If there is something you want to challenge us who support Obama, do so responsibly. I mean, you jsut have to tell us what you feel qualifies Sarah and what does not qualify Obama. I mostly hear candidate-bashing, so there is no reason for me to try to take both sides.
    Let me be frank here: Sarah Palin is a wonderful woman. Both she and Obama may have made mistakes in their lives when they were young (after all, they are oth human beings). The two of them espouse mostly similar beliefs as Christians and citizens of the same nation. But Obama is not a social conservative, Palin is; Palin has more executive experience as a mayor and now a governor, but her leadership of the city she was mayor of is now being challenged ethically, so does her position as a governor due to "Troopergate" as a result of personal grudges; Obama has no known improper dealings, to my knowledge, other than petty ones like the Rezko saga (he did not violate any laws); Sarah has a degree in Journalism and PoliSci, while Obama has a law degree and taught Constitutional law; Sarah has no experience working in the community as a volunteer tt I know of, Obama has worked as a community organizer; Sarah has no national political experience who might udnerstand the way things work in DC, while Obama has been a U.S. Senator, whose laws he voted in favor or against can apply to the entire nation, not just Ill.; Sarah has never bee invovled in or officially visited a foreign nation and lived in a foreign nation to acquire a sense of understanding of the global community, and instead concentrated mostly on small-town America.
    Taken together, I honestly question Sarah's qualifications. Given that she ibeing tutored at this point in the election and poorly vetted by McCain, I challenge you to come up with reasonable explanations for why you think she is better qualified.

      Palin is Chistian conservative, what's of Obama's "hate America" church?
      Obama's community organizer for drug addicts, what's of Palin's achievement for all of Alaskan?
      Palin's being investigated for trying to fire bad policeman? what of Obama's being associattion with someone who's fleecing us in the name of poor people?

      You can fuzz over everything but intelligent people will see the underlining principle in each case... Obama is everything for himself everytime! So take a real deep breath, close your eyes and start analyzing things instead of blindly follow your party's lead!

In his first presidential decision, John McCain has shown that he is willing to endanger his country, potentially leaving it in the hands of someone who simply has no business being a heartbeat away from the most powerful, complicated, difficult job in human history.

    For a man who is 72 years old and has had four bouts with cancer to have chosen someone so completely unqualified to become president is shockingly irresponsible. Suddenly, McCain's age and health become central issues in the campaign, as does his judgment.

    McCOMA NEEDS A CHECKUP FROM THE NECK UP!!

      Although McCain's mother is a vigorous 95-year-old, his father died at the age of 70. Although I certainly wish the senator continued health and long life, I agree that Americans need to give stronger consideration than usual to his vice-presidential choice, given his medical and genetic histories.

      For any presidential candidate, Americans need to remember that the vice-president usually becomes his/her party's successor nominee. Since Sarah Palin will be 48 in 2012 and 52 in 2016, her supporters and her detractors will keep this in mind.

        Marcus, put a sock in it. Senator McCain's health is not a concern, and should it be, keep in mind that un-foreseen things happen people of all ages, not just the "older" ones. And should Sarah Palin ever become president, I'm sure she would do a fine job, with good advisors to help. But, as I said, Senator McCain's health is not an issue, anyone who can survive what he has been through and still come out of it with as great an attitude as he has is a strong person, both physically and mentally, so put your fears to rest.

        I would also need to remind you that black people in this country historically is more prone to crime, drugs, murder, and welfare (this is fact, people, so don't get so worked up on this)! So to have a Washington insider as second in command on a "change" ticket also need to have serious consideration!!!

    Sorry, but either you are a die-hard McCain supporter who cannot care much abot the economic plight of millions of America, or you are not representative in any way of the sufferings of Middle Class America (you may be an upper class or someone not affected in any way y the downturn of the economy).     HolyRoller I have been a christian all of my life and I help the homeless and various other organizations in a way to be more Christ-like. There seems to be no room for Compassion in the Conservative movement. We don't lie as real devote Christians and you seem to not find that important. Are you born again? Did you just start being a Christian? I don't want to push people away from Christ because they think that we are all like you.

Mithra was born of a virgin in the presence of three wise men, died, resurrected and ascended to heaven. Mithraists celebrated his birth on Dec 25th and practice baptism and communion with bread and wine. Christianity is inauthentic, and whatever you "know" about "God" is strictly a hand-me-down coming from religious hucksters and a professional priest class through the ages. Christians didn't even settle on the divinity of Christ until 325. Its all about money and power. If you want to learn something about God, put away your books and don't listen to what ANYONE tells you. You can learn as much about God on your OWN as any priest, pastor or rabbi.
