NWSK: But she indignantly dismissed his opposition to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as the politically correct, yet wrong, position of "Eastern politicians."

Palin finally got the chance to meet McCain at a gathering of Republican governors in Washington, D.C., in mid-February. Weeks Later, even after the other Republican contenders had dropped out of the race, Palin still had not endorsed McCain....

Note: Well until Palin got her 2nd call to run as his VP, Now the B!tch is more Popular than McCain, lets see how long that Sparkle & Shine will last, when the Media Exposes Palin's True Beliefs, oppse to IMAGE to the ...Generally MODERATE American Public !!!

NSWK: Alaskans regard themselves as a breed apart, more rugged, self-reliant and free than other Americans. Palin shares that sense of exceptionalism. But the myth is contradicted by some inconvenient facts. Only 1 percent of the state's land is in private hands, and the economy is dependent on oil and other natural resources controlled by the federal government or Big Oil. As a result, nearly 50 years after statehood, Alaska remains deeply dependent on the federal government for support. Social ills are rampant. The state's levels of drug abuse, alcoholism, domestic violence and child abuse are above average or among the highest in the country.

Note: This Dispells the Pure, Moral, Ethical & Upright "Christian Values" Image that these Alaskans and the mass Media has Perpetuated. The Mass Media has No Problems, Demeaning and Highlighting the Moral Decay of Urban Cities, but this Shines a BRIGHT LIGHT on what is going on in SUBURBAN....BUT MAINLY .....RURAL AREAS..

That these People do the Same Things...

You are right when you say you think outside the spectrum! It is not funny or acceptable to make fun of someone because of their name. That is childish but if it walks like duck and quacks like a duck then it must be a duck!

Palin is a Bush-style politician. Lied about the Bridge to Nowhere. Took more than her fair share of earmarks. Slashed funding for special needs children by 62%. Hired her friends, fired people that had opposed her. Has no clue what's going on in the world -- she's having to be "schooled" right now -- that's scary. We've had eight years of that kind of disastrous leadership... we don't need four more of the same.

    Dear SEA Observer,
Who are you calling an America hater? If a tumor is found in my body, and I want it removed, that does not mean that i hate my body. Cheney, Bush, Rove and crew are a tumor on the American body poilitic and I want them removed, that doesn't mean that i hate America. You conservatives always resort to calling those who disagree with you anti-american. Well, guess what, pal, I gave 20 plus years of my life serving in our military, including time in Iraq. Don't you dare presume to call me an American hater because i disagree with you. If you can't stand dissension, maybe it's you who has a problem with OUR constitution.

    • Posted By: SEA Observer @ 09/07/2008 2:02:25 PM

Dear Neos, if it's not applicable to you then don't worry about it! There are many that my comment is applicable to!

You don't learn much for a guy with 20yrs in service, do you? In the service, you don't salute a person but you rather salute the uniform & what it represent.

Same goes for the Office of President of this country - keep that in mind!!!!

      • Posted By: ChooseWisely @ 09/07/2008 2:07:52 PM

SEA observer, you have no right to question that man's service to his country. Typical righteous conservative...

        • Posted By: SEA Observer @ 09/07/2008 2:20:43 PM

I am not questioning anyone's patriotism! It is just my observation that there are a lot of American haters out there. Am I not free to express my opinion?

Dissenting is everyone's right in this country but one should dissent in a civilized and respectable way

          • Posted By: neos @ 09/07/2008 2:30:43 PM

Telling people that they hate their own country simply because they do not agree with you is respectful?
It is possible to find fault with our system and still love it. As an example, we are ranked 37th in the world in terms of health care. This is a disgrace. I don't hate my country by pointing this out. I love my country so much that i am willing to see the faults and work hard to amend them. I want to be number one and i know that we can do it. Sometimes that means being humble enough to lokk at other nations and learn from them.
I see intolerant Americans like you and I cringe with embarrassment, but I love my country enough and take my oaths to defend our constitution seriously enough to stand up to your particular brand of prejudice.

            • Posted By: SEA Observer @ 09/07/2008 2:42:41 PM

Funny, why do you brand me "intolerance"? Can you understand the phrase: "I observed that there are a lot of American haters out there"? Does my observation make me "intolerant"????

              • Posted By: neos @ 09/07/2008 2:54:02 PM

Yes. Read your own previous comment. You say that you are not questioning anyone's patriotism, you just think they hate their country!! Huh???
You prejudged my patriotism by labeling my comments by including me in your America haters group.
Then you prejudged me as a soldier because i do not care for the policies of Bush, etc.

We are all Americans here. Let us stipulate that we can disagree without losing our patriotism. Let us stop calling each other America haters. That might be a good first step to bridging Rove's cultural divide and to engaging in honest good-willed debate. I suspect that i just might strongly disagree with your take on some of the issues but will be happy to call you my fellow American.

      • Posted By: neos @ 09/07/2008 2:11:41 PM

No, there is no one to whom your comment is applicable. For someone who understands and cherishes the constitution, this is very clear. And by the way the oath of enlistment is to defend the constitution, not George Bush. I saluted the uniform and completed the mission without reservation, but I am entitled to my opinion. This is still a free country. If you do not like political dissent, get out of my country! The Land of the Free!

      • Posted By: thinkingoutsidethebox @ 09/07/2008 2:08:06 PM

So Americans are not allowed to be angry with the government in charge?? I am sure that you were in heaven when Bill Clinton was in charge, right? You probably weren't so that means then that you had to disagree with the government and want Clinton out of there, right? On the other hand, someone that has the economy rolling at lightening speed is something to get angry about. I know, I know, you were angry that he cheated on his wife, a private matter, right? Kinda like Palin's daughter??

    • Posted By: thinkingoutsidethebox @ 09/07/2008 1:33:00 PM

It is a good start when a candidate goes over to Germany, speaks in front of 250,000 Germans, they are waving American flags and none of them are on fire!!! Oh yeah, and no protesters!! I WILL TAKE THIS OVER MCCAIN CUZ WE KNOW WHEN HE GOES OVERSEAS THERE ARE PROTESTS CUZ IT IS BUSH's TWIN BROTHER!!

      • Posted By: UNAROB @ 09/07/2008 2:51:29 PM

Well, if a foreign nation welcomes you one must as why just as if a foreign nation does not welcome you. The fact is the Clinton administration allowed itself to be played by foreign nations to their best interests (bombing Serbia for example which was never a threat to the US), allowing China to obtain our nuclear secrets, allowing Bin Laden to build his organization without hassle, and North Korea to work on their nuclear weapons without fear. The current administration for better or worse has not placed foreign nations desires over what this curren administration believed was in the best interest for the U.S. Obama has made many references that he would bow to other nations desires and thus is greeted by them.

    • Posted By: neos @ 09/07/2008 1:14:56 PM

Obama's foreign policy experience includes graduating from Columbia University with a degree in political science with an emphasis on international relations. In the U.S. Senate Obama is unique among Senators in that he serves on three of the four Senate Committees dealing with foreign policy issues including the Foreign Relations; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and Veterans' Affairs committees and is the Chair of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Relations which is responsible fore U.S. relations with European countries, the European Union, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (i.e., NATO). He has lived abroad and his backgound qualifies him to approach the international community with an open and discerning attitude. The current administration's xenophobia has isolated us in the world community. The world community has shown itself ready, even eager, for an open-minded partner in the White House.

There are many issues (abortion, federal economics, etc.) to disagree with Palin on. As a conservative thinker, I don't disagree with her on most issues, but I find real Democratic arguments respectable and healthy. However, this article fails in the category of "a fraud". It obviously paints a negative picture about Palin at every turn it can, using half-truth (aka lies) to cause doubt and confusion. My #1 example: Read the sixth paragraph. It paints a picture of contradiction in her personality and politics. Then watch the videos (Womens' forum from March 08) in this very same article. She addresses that same issue, stating Alaska's dependence on Federal Government as a problem she's working to solve, not something she wants to contribute to. And this article would have you believe she waited til she was chosen VP to endorse McCain. When in these very same vidieos, she endorses him back in March.

Plenty to argue with Palin on, but its articles like this that keep Americans misinformed and emotional. I like your intent of good-will Democrats. Please don't let articles like this manipulate you into believing that conservatives have none. Like your side, we have our bad Pols and good ones. Palin is being painted unfairly here today.

Good analysis & I agree with you. Through the two conventions, my observation and conclusion are as follow:

      1. McCain/Palin: True patriots, not afraid to do the right thing for the nation. Does not mean they are right all the time but can be trusted to lead the nation.

      2. Obama/Biden: Slick politicians, speak with two tongues, pretending to represent change but so far everything that they do are same old politics. Can not be trusted to lead this great nation.

      3. The press: most are bias toward Democratic party. What a shame!

      4. The majority of the people on this bulletin have their blinder on. They pretend like they are thinking but most of them are just spewing party line talking points and can not objectively discuss or analyze anything...

      • Posted By: thinkingoutsidethebox @ 09/07/2008 1:58:13 PM

Not all of spew party lines. I am not a Democrat, a proud Independent. And if you think about it, spewing hate and bigotry and keeping the common man down should be what both parties stand for. Unfortunately for the GOP that is what they stand for!!

Bush surrounds himself with mindless goons like him that have graduated from Pat Robertson's college (gee, there is no agenda there, is there?)
He told a blind reporter in the White House Garden to take off his sunglasses and that he didn't need them...

We all have our favorite news networks we use to obtain the information we need to make a selection in this election cycle. For months I have watched the same network and supplemented it with visits to competitive internet sites. However, during the recent political party conventions I found myself constantly switching to the other networks to see what was ???going on???. Some of the networks seemed to put their own slant on the issues while a few clearly directed each question or comment towards a particular candidate. This is only to be expected since each of the 200 million plus voters has their own individual opinion on their favorite candidate. During this buildup to the election I have spent a significant amount of time reading the opinions of the political pundits and most importantly the comments submitted by their readers. However in the last 2 weeks I have seen more hate being spewed in the comments than ever before. Governor Palin has been the brunt of totally fantastic lies, many of which would have resulted in a Salem, Massachusetts woman being burned at the stake and others that are physically impossible. Barack Obama???s middle name of Hussein has caused many that are politically opposed to him to clam he is a closet Muslim. And everyone running for each of the parties has voters waiting for them to bite the heads off of bats.
I have no idea of how many ultra left and right wing fanatics are spreading this filth. It might be as little as 5%, maybe much less, but they are only clouding the election for the vast majority of voters. No matter which direction your politics lean you must look at every last bit of information and consider the source, how plausible is it and what is the significance to the future of our country in these trying times? Hopefully the hate will not affect the results of the upcoming election.
Remember, half of you will wake up on November 5th having voted for the party that lost.

    • Posted By: SEA Observer @ 09/07/2008 2:29:00 PM

Bravo, Jon. Finally someone without hate!

Don't we want highly educated, well-read, well-traveled people who have seen and experienced many things running the country? Who better to represent and lead than someone who gets that every American has the right to his/her own beliefs and values even if those values don't happen to be fundamentalist Christian? It???s hard enough to be a Christian. People used to respect that. Now they just see us as hypocrites because too many of us can???t just do our best with our own struggle, try to reach out to others in love and let God do the rest.

Also, I have heard a lot of nonsense about conservative folks valuing education, but no one seems to value the educated. Education provides a forum for broader views and exposure, which is what the leader of this country needs.
Why is it fodder for ridicule for a man to add to the brain trust of small communities by bringing what he has learned back to folks that don???t know what is possible?
Why is it instead celebrated that a man graduated at the bottom of his class? Why is it funny that because he didn???t study how to eject himself from a plane, he crashed and almost died? Why isn???t it sad that that didn???t change his resolve? Why is that maverick and not undisciplined? Why isn???t it suspect that he wouldn???t even vote for his own bills today? Why is it ok that Palin hasn???t even studied foreign affairs, the constitution (America???s) or higher economics? Do we know? Shouldn???t we?
I???ve gotta say. I am angered by the mean and judgmental representation of Christian women my party has put forward. We are in the middle of a war and a situation where we are no longer respected around the world and McCain cares so little about this country that he picked a candidate who thinks it is somehow admirable to be a bulldog with lipstick. I'd be more impressed if I knew why her small town was $20m in debt after she left given our current debt to China (and how that makes her any different than Bush). Further, I???m an attorney and I have gained respect by being respectful. I???d be offended and rightfully so if anyone called me a bulldog, a barracuda or a bitch. It is neither cute nor acceptable on the adult stage.

I'm tired of hearing all the whining. I'll be glad when this thing is over. Too bad we can't just let California, Texas, New York ( and whoever else wants to ) secede from the Union and run their own affairs. Instead we have this epic power struggle where 100% of the population is trying to make 50% do it their way. I'd rather we dissolve and give everyone a place to go, and dispense with all this political agitation. I could give a hoot whether we're divided or unified. In fact democracy would probably work better if the states were sovereign, because your one vote would count MORE.

A bridge to nowhere: that's what this hard-nosed politician truly represents for America, at this crossroad. The fact she repeatedly bragged about killing this project as her "reformist" credential when her record undisputably points the other way, while ruthlessly distorting her oppoents records with total disregard of truth and fairness, with a charming smile too, amazes and disturbs me. What amazes me more is: it works, with more than half of American public! As a Canadian, observing the US politics with deep interest, it saddens and bothers me. Opportunism without integrity makes shrewd politician for sure. Politican like this can succeed for a while too, no doubt about that. That was what Nixon did for a big portion of his career, until this poisoneous combination brought his administration down, and the faith of the public with it. Equally disturbing was the dishonesty in the republican argument : McCain played the "experience" card relentlessly until he chose a truly inexperienced VP candidate (using his own creteria for "experience" against his opponent earlier on: national security and foreign affairs); after the nauseating partisan bikering at the GOP convention (which disgusted an outsider like me), he conveniently called for the "end of partisan rancor"; better yet, in a straight face, he changes his hand and is now the "agent for Change". And the American people are more than happy to oblige.
    I cry for you, America.

And the last time I checked Hollywood is in America and the actors and actresses that live there are American and are entitled to express their opinion for the election!! If Hollywood doesn't come out and have an opinion on the election the American public would see that as Hollywood not caring so it is a double edged sword. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't . The only reason GOP gets mad is because most of Hollywood ususally supports Democratic candidate. If it were the other way around there wouldn't be an issue. It is because they are artists in the craft and they don't want to see movies, books, music banned just becuase someone says a "bad" word.

You can follow your nominees of the cliff, just don't ask the country to do so.

I just want to congratulate you on the objectiveness of this article. While exposing weaknesses and potential problems, you give just as much weight to areas of strength. I wish more media would follow your lead.
In the end, Palin will either succeed or completely fail, but your objectivity in reporting is refreshing and you have certainly won a supporter. Sincerely, Michael Wilmot

People that follow blind faith in regards to politics are lemmings. You can follow your extremely unqualified VP pick off a cliff if you'd like, just don't ask this country to. It scares me to death to think that if McCain were elected and died within the next four years, we'd have this person running the country. That is absolute insanity.

(NEW YORK) Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton marched for labor and stumped with Democrats on Saturday, but sidestepped questions about the woman who has taken her place as the nation's most-talked-about female leader.

Clinton brushed aside questions about Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin during appearances at New York City's annual Labor Day parade and later during a stop on Staten Island.

hmmm.....Any chance the Clinton's are STILLSAYING..."Obama can kiss my ass"??? A Hussein victory is a Clinton defeat. They also are quite aware of his "Chicago Thug" mentality.

Good for you Sen Clinton. At least some Dems are actually American.

    NOBAMA!!!

It was stated earlier in the week that Hillary was not going to mention Palin cuz she said she didn't need to! She was going to focus on McCain and his ignorant platform!! NO REASON TO GO AFTER HER WHEN WE HAVE HIM TO GO AFTER!!
